My favorite chowder in Bodega Bay was Spud's, but I think this one knocked it out. I enjoyed the smoky flavor to it! Our kids aren't seafood fans so I really appreciated their kids menu that had butter & cheese pasta. Their Bloody Mary was solid as well! The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! I loved the lightness of the calamari batter as well! This is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. It was romantic with the view of the bay. I felt the customer service was a little off, but eventually our servers were nicer as both lunches went on. There was a Hispanic man that was very friendly and kept our water filled. We enjoyed talking to him. The customers sure were friendly with lots of smiles towards our kids. This is my favorite Bodega Bay restaurant. I look forward to bringing family and friends.

There is an outside fire pit where kids bored with their parents and not too worried about how they were going to make it back to the bungalow, or worse, left there because the elders forgot about them, were roasting marshmallows. Back inside the crowd was clearing out including the couple with their new baby and $1,200 Orbit stroller. Back in the day I bought a car for less than this. Kids these days!!!! (eye roll). As usual we were the last ones out. We typically close down everyplace we go. In populated areas the staff have restaurants/bars they go to after work and every one you saw during the day are there to unwind. Fun times with these groups. Up in Bodega Bay no such place. I think they rotate the after hours activities between different residences. Nice place just wish they stayed open later.

There were two other tables of customers in the dining room and now a single clean table. Every other customer-free table in that room was stacked with dirty dishes left by previous customers. Under-baked potato, had to ask twice for a glass of water (even harder to get an empty glass refilled) and three times for bread. There are certainly some things this restaurant does well but there are so many lapses that it adds up to a disappointing dining experience. There seems to be a lack of attention to details and service is quite poor. We had a disappointing experience here 6 months ago but decided to try it again since we had heard good things about their Sunday night prime rib dinner. As our server gave us menus she asked if we'd like anything to drink. We said we wanted the prime rib and would start with two glasses of water. She asked if we'd like some bread also and we said yes. 10 minutes later our prime ribs were presented to us and our server asked if she could get us anything else. We replied that we'd really like the glasses of water we ordered and the bread she offered. She came back a few minutes with our water. 10 minutes later she returned, asked how everything was and if she could get us anything else. We reminded her that we were still waiting for the bread she offered us. A few minutes later she returned with the bread and asked if we needed anything else. The prime rib was very good, cooked exactly the way we ordered it, as were the mixed vegetables but our baked potatoes which were under-cooked and inedible. We informed her of this, she apologized and said she'd have new ones prepared for us. She returned about 10 minutes later with one potato. Not one for each of us, just one. A refill on water was difficult to get, I had to hold my glass up in the air and wave it around to get the attention of a staff member to get a refill. They were up to the challenge of serving prime rib exactly as ordered and fresh vegetables perfectly cooked but couldn't handle the easy things like cooking a baked potato correctly, remembering to bring water and bread to the table and checking back to make sure water glasses were refilled. What a beautiful view! The drinks that Grant the bartender were pouring were fabulous. We had great time talking with him about cocktails, food pairings and Sonoma county. We ordered our food and drinks Grant recommended that would go great with our dishes. We were so excited. Enjoyed the view and live music while we waited for our food. It kills me to say that we were disappointed. The crab sandwich was just ok. The bread it came on tasted like the hard chewy ciabatta bread they sell at Costco. Another great visit at the Bluewater Bistro. I had the beer battered fish tacos. They were perfectly fried and the mango salsa was amazing. They also had some pickled cabbage that really made it unique. My friend had the special which was homemade chili amd cornbread. The renovation of the restaurant was awesome and ofcourse the ocean views are some of the best. I cant wait for my next visit. read more

This place was really only ok... Nothing fantastic. I had a burger, my husband had fish & chips; I ordered my burger med/rare and it came out medium/well. There was so much breading on the fish it was funny to see how small the actual fish pieces were. Probably not coming back to eat here... The view is nice but bodega bay is very pretty. read more

This place has a great view of the beach. I stopped in for a drink and some food. They had the football games on and lucky for me they had happy hour on a Sunday. There was a tap takeover for Drakes and beers were only $3. The food was good and the service was excellent. Great spot to checkout if your out in Bodega. read more

I would not go out of my way to get basic bar food at twice the price. My tri tip sandwitch had stale cheap bread and overcooks 3 day old meat. I did not complain, but I would never go back. The other 3 peopel had exactly the same opinion. $85 for $30 worth of simple basic food. read more

The restaurant's large windows provide beautiful waterfront views no matter where you're seated. Our waitress (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was fantastic. She mentioned she'd been there for 14 years, which says a lot in itself. She was friendly, knowledgeable about every dish, and gave us excellent recommendations. I know Caesar dressing contains anchovies, but I was hesitant about having actual fish on my salad. I'm so glad she encouraged me to try the cooked anchovies on the side--they were delicious. Perfectly salty and a great complement to the salad. The pork chop entrée was perfection! The pork was cooked beautifully, and the bread pudding side was just as memorable. I'm not entirely sure what was in it, but it reminded me of garlic bread in the best way. The applesauce was also a nice touch. The halibut was cooked perfectly as well, and the mashed potatoes practically melted in your mouth. For sides, the grilled asparagus was exactly what you'd hope for, and the crispy potatoes lived up to their name, perfectly seasoned with a great crunch. The soup of the day was a creamy spring onion soup with crispy pancetta. Although just as delicious as everything else ordered, its the one plate we wished the portion was bigger for the price it was going for. We've eaten at plenty of restaurants, but this may be the first time where every single thing we ordered--from the entrées to the sides and sauces--was a 10/10. Needless to say, this won't be our last visit. It was absolutely worth it and such a memorable part of our anniversary trip to Bodega Bay.

They more high end dishes are fine, but honestly a bowl of chowder and a Nicks burger totally hits the spot. Most places do not allow our dogs. At the restaurant, the Steak Frites the first night was amazing. Lunch the next day was the Smashburger. Also very good and so are their fries. If you like mezcal, the Touch of Green cocktail is delicious. If you like cherries, try the Queen of Spades is delicious. This is a wonderful spot to bring the whole family. I'm giving them 5 stars because they deserve a much better rating than they have.

The clam chowder was the best one I've ever had. Plenty of clam and even had two clam shells in it. The piece of bread is their house made focaccia and it's incredible. So crispy but also soft. Perfect balance. Such a perfect meal for what I was looking for.
