Service was quick and efficient. Ordering from the tablet was convenient, and I appreciated that both water and miso soup are self-serve from a machine, which adds a nice touch of cleanliness and convenience. We came for dinner on a holiday. There were plenty of free parking. Server was nice and I like the self serve water station. You order off a tablet and get 90 min which is normal at an AYCE. I've NEVER hit 90 min at any AYCE before until now. I recommend you order everything you may want to eat on Round 1 because it took a very long time to get our food after the first round. I normally only get nigiri but they put so much rice with theirs that I stopped ordering that after the first round. They seem to be understaffed so that may be why everything took so long. I would like to start with the positive. Their staff is very kind and hard working. Servers regularly cleared tables and were busy with both dine in and deliverues. The restaurant looked clean and well maintained. They also had restrooms available. For parents, they also have high chairs available which is a win. Parking is limited but free. Cons: Quality and food temperature left alot to be desired as well as the time it took to get items that weren't sushi. Felt like the kitchen / back of house was under staffed. We went on a friday for lunch and felt that the value wasnt there. We were kind of disappointed with the experience as we'd seen reviews were raving and we hoped that we would be contributing to those experiences. The restaurant was located in a plaza. There wasn't a lot of parking for the number of businesses in the plaza, but we didn't have a hard time finding parking. Came during a weekend night. The place wasn't packed, but did get full as the night progressed. They have a self served water and miso station. The miso soup was very bland and did not taste good at all. You order with the tablet on the table. They were very strict with the 90 minutes dining limit. You can't order once the 90 minutes were up. We like that there wasn't a limit on ordering carpaccio. Unfortunately, none of the items we ordered tasted fresh. The rice was dry. The no rice rolls had too much fillers. The sashimi salad included only one piece of tuna and one piece of salmon. I thought the place would be bigger but it's a decent size and had a secluded section with a round table for a bigger group of people. I love that you get the option of AYCE or aa la carte orders. The price range for the AYCE is good depending on the amount of food that you know you can eat. We tried the chicken karaage, takoyaki, and fried gyoza along with several of the sushi variety and the carpaccio variety which all tasted great and were of good quality. The yakisoba was alright. You can skip the miso soup. The server was courteous and quick to respond and the folks prepping the orders were really quick. Will definitely be back. What to expect: If you're doing the AYCE, there is a 10 minute interval between each order, so it's best to have everyone in your party select their order before placing it. For the price and quality of AYCE, I would give this place 5 stars! We always order nigiri, carpaccio, rolls, and soft shell crab. The crab is usually the only app that we order so I can't review the other apps. I love the raw shrimp nigiri! If you're not a super big eater, I recommend you come in a party of 4 because the rolls usually come with 4 pieces. So if there are 4 people, you can try more varieties of roll and only need to eat one piece of each. I like doing this to be able to try more things! You order off an iPad and you have to wait 10 minutes between orders. The time passes very fast so it's not a problem. Also the food comes very fast, even when the restaurant is full! Prior to having a child, I remember a friend of mine telling me that kids sometimes appreciate small acts over grandiose ones. At the time, I can recall thinking, "maybe YOUR child does, but mine will definitely appreciate grand experiences." Ironically, we had a family trip planned to Los Angeles for Thanksgiving weekend. After doing a quick Yelp search, I found a sushi restaurant called Blufish Sushi & Grill that had almost perfect reviews. As you can imagine, there are lots of sushi restaurants available in the Los Angeles area; however, Blufish stood out to me for their selection and proximity to our Airbnb. Also, I have to add that the establishment offers an all-you-can-eat option which is very helpful considering the costs of individual sushi rolls. With empty bellies, we made the small journey to the establishment. Upon entering we were greeted by an employee who seated us in the near-empty (at the time) restaurant. We informed her that the three of us would be taking advantage of the $33.99 (Friday-Sunday) all-you-can-eat special. She advised us that the special included everything on the menu except drinks and showed us how to use the on-table tablet to place orders. Also, she mentioned that you have to wait at least 10 minutes before placing another order, we had a total of 90 minutes to utilize the special, and that there is a fee for any unfinished food. The turnaround time from placing the order to receiving it was extremely quick! As we shared the variety of rolls that we ordered, we bonded over conversation regarding our favorite rolls. My son was extremely happy (he loves Asian food) and even convinced my wife and I to try something that we never thought we would...Salmon Egg Sushi! It's located in kind of an older plaza with tight parking and the inside of the restaurant is not what I expected - it's dimly lit with cozy vibes. There's an iPad at every table for you to order on demand - this makes the ordering process super easy with photos for you to see. We came for a weekday lunch and it was pretty empty. As always at any AYCE spot, we always order with our eyes and left super stuffed. In terms of the quality of the fish, it was decent. Be sure to order the premium items (toro, uni, etc...) to maximize the value. You can never go wrong with salmon or tuna. Overall, it was decent, nothing spectacular. Consistently good experiences! I've been here several times and I've always had good experiences each time. The food is good and the fish is good quality? Which is surprising even for their all you can eat menu. The service is also great! The waiters have always been friendly, thorough with their explanations and what to expect. It's a dark restaurant on the inside so expect a somewhat private ambiance but it can get somewhat loud depending on how busy they are. They also accommodate for groups (I've usually gone in groups of 6-10) which is a plus! I will say one gripe is the parking lot, it's definitely not low car friendly. The driveway entrances aren't the best and the lot itself is full of potholes and has been for years. If you drive a lowered car, park towards the other end of the lot and save your peace. A mom and pop shop that has attentive service and even brought out a small mochi ice cream with a candle lit for my friend's birthday. They have a variety of rolls, nigiri, appetizers, udon and stir fried noodles, and even carpaccio. They have a miso soup dispenser which is handy but I've been twice and the first time it was really good, and the second time the miso soup was lacking flavor so it's not consistent. They also have a serve yourself water dispenser which makes it convenient. You're definitely not looking for quality at this sushi restaurant but for under $35 a person and you can get limited toro nigiri- I'd say that's a steal. Blue crab hand rolls are also on the menu but I won't lie, the crab is salty and mushy. Salmon, yellowtail and tuna were all solid picks, again not looking for quality but enough to feed our cravings. Parking is plentiful as it's in a center with a liquor store and other stores. Honestly we had a pretty great experience and we were shocked to see that a place in the South Bay had ayce. Only other place I've been down here was Ginza and it is actually god awful. This place was good, clean, friendly and fast. Good prices too and definitely kept eating until we were full. From what I can tell its family owned and they are physically working the restaurant too. The rice is really compressed and compact which I didn't love cause it made it heavier than normal but it was still yummy. Saturday evening, it was me, hubby and our 10 year old. We went in thinking AYCE and thankfully, I asked how much kids prices were. The waitress immediately asked my child, "How old are you?" 10 years old. The waitress said, Great. And showed us to our table. I wanted to confirm the price and she responded, your kid is 10 yo and our policy for kids menu is 9 yo. Are you kidding me????? The last time I checked ANY KIDS MENU, the age is 12 yo. So NO THANK YOU on AYCE. AYCE - $33.99 for us and our 10 yo. High PASS on the kids pricing. We ended up with A La Carte for our 10 yo and we got AYCE. NOTABLE MENTION: Every single roll was a small piece of fish on top of a California roll. My kid got 2 orders of Cali Rolls for $7. So that was $14. You do the math. They time your orders and they time your butt in their chair. So you have 90 min. I lost my appetite by the 2nd round of the smallest sushi pieces you have ever seen, I was like, "let's get out of here." Our bill plus tip was $100. Cannot recommend based on the tiniest fish on sushi pieces and kids menu pricing. Seems like an AYCE money grab to me without any heart for the customer. My fair and honest review.... Saw this place while in the South Bay as we wanted to try something new closer to the freeway instead of our usual which was on Crenshaw. The menu was simple to navigate and place orders but food items were not extensive or standing out. The price is the factor, as there were nothing premium offered. Also, the water and miso soup is self served. Miso soup is from a machine, powder based with Luke warm water poured in a paper bowl. Had the tuna nigiri but found it odd as it was pink as if imitation fish dyed in color. Salmon nigiri appear to be real salmon but thinly cut. The rolls seemed below average. Again, the price was the only justification. The appetizers were not that abundant. Though, the tempura were pretty crisp, it was dark in color. My only complaint would be the oil, only if they change the oil as it felt old. Oh, and the cucumber salad was pretty disgusting as it was mushy and not crunchy at all. The dining area and the restroom were clean though the floor felt greasy, as if I was standing in KBBQ restaurant. At least the servers were friendly and quick with the food and clearing the table with empty plates. There is parking but due to sharing with other businesses. It can be a challenge finding a place to park during busy hours. If you are hungry but on a budget, I would say at least try this place like you go to a Hong Kong Express for Chinese take out.
