I had such a great experience here that I already know I'll be back! I ordered the chicken katsu curry plate, gangjung, a katsu sando, egg sando, and the strawberry sando, and every single item was delicious. The chicken katsu was the standout~ it was perfectly light and crispy on the outside while staying incredibly juicy on the inside. It had amazing flavor even on its own, but paired with the katsu sauce, it was absolutely next level. The rich curry sauce was also fantastic and went perfectly with the rice, making every bite satisfying. The gangjung was another winner, with a great crispy exterior coated in a sweet, garlicky sauce that kept me coming back for more. I took the katsu sando and egg sando home for later, and I had to finish with the strawberry sando, which was perfectly creamy with fresh, sweet strawberries. It was the ideal way to end the meal. Beyond the food, what really impressed me was the incredible value. The prices were very fair, the portions were generous, and the service was exceptionally warm and friendly. Everything came out quickly and piping hot, which made the experience even better. The also had catchy music playing in the background and it was peaceful in there during lunch time. Whether you're looking for a quick solo meal or a spot to bring friends, this place checks every box. I loved my visit and can't wait to come back. Found this place driving around looking for a lunch spot and decided to try it out. It's located on a little strip mall across from a big shopping center. There are TVs inside and booths and tables around the restaurant. We ordered at the front but I think you can also sit and have your order taken at your table. The waitress was really nice and helpful. She brought out extra sauces we asked for, refilled our water often, and even turned on the ac for us when my MIL mentioned it was hot inside. We got a beef katsu plate, chicken katsu sandwich with fries, and a calamari app. The chicken katsu sandwich was my favorite with delicious crispy waffle fries. The chicken was thin and kept its crisp. It came with katsu sauce, pickles, and a slaw on the sandwich that made it moist and not too dry. It was really good and a bit messy. The beef katsu was like a hamburger breaded with panko. I was expecting more of a gyuKatsu but that's probably a bit too fancy for a place like this. I got it with the curry sauce which comes in either mild or spicy. I liked the freshness of the daikon and salad with the fried katsu patty. I wish the curry had some vegetables or something but overall I enjoyed the meal. The portions were a good size and it wasn't too expensive. Lots of factors came together as to how I ended up here. One - hAngerism after a Costco run, Two - been to their El Segundo location and had a good run, and thought I'd like to try this place eventually. Three - my elders whom I served as their chauffeur for the day wanted pho from a couple of doors away (but that was a NO for me - nothing against that restaurant. I just wasn't in the mood for their dishes.) So in reality, timing was all it was. But I knew exactly what I wanted soon as I spotted it on the menu: chicken katsu curry plate with curry. Only one other customer waiting (given it was an odd between-lunch-and-dinner hour) so I was able to place my order right away and waited patiently. I should have taken pictures of the inside, but know that they maximized the space nicely without crowding the chairs and tables. Wasn't long before I got my food, and with perfect timing playing a role, my elders were ready with their orders op down the way as well. I'm incredibly impressed with their packaging. It was like opening a present! The curry was secured in a sealed cup (love this!) and the rest of the goodies were nicely plated in this to-go container. It was almost too pretty to eat! But you know.. hAngerism, as I pointed out earlier... Katsu chicken was breaded lightly fried to perfection. Seasoning was also nicely done. Dipping each bite in the curry sauce takes it to a higher level. Sauce wasn't overwhelming, it was just the right balance of very slight sweet and savory. Mac salad was an awesome palate cleanser. I didn't have the salad, but because it was a big plate. I had leftovers and included the salad in that second meal. Still fresh and delicious. Dressing was light. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. So close to 5 stars except for the mac salad. It was lacking flavoring and super dry, however I did LOVE the chicken katsu dipped in the curry sauce. It was very thin and flaky breading. Curry was not too salty and perfect thickness. I loved the strawberry cream sandwich but the strawberries were kinda tiny for the sandwich ratio. Review #891 2025-063 Food Order: Kamikaze Chicken Sandwich (chicken katsu, coleslaw, pickles, spicy aioli, brioche bun) with Waffle Fries $13.00 Spicy Tuna Yubu Pocket $4.00 Egg Salad Yubu Pocket $3.50 I've had Katsu Bar bookmarked for a while since I noticed that they were in the same plaza as Sharetea (refer to Review #393), replacing defunct Burgerim (they were not bad; however, they offered some form of monetary compensation for positive feedback so take reviews with a grain of salt), but haven't been in because I'm not usually hungry but thirsty when I'm in the area. When my office started offering 3xTs (Thursday Takeout Treats), I added Katsu Bar on the rotation. The restaurant sits on the south side of the strip mall off the corner of Crenshaw & Lomita Blvds., depending on which direction you're coming from, it can be challenging to enter/exit because it's a very, very busy corner, especially after a large apartment complex that's built recently across the (north side) street. While there's decent amount of parking, it can get filled; I have parked across the street at Torrance Crossroads. I haven't dined in yet, though there's plenty of seats & the interior didn't change much; Katsu Bar kept the former's furniture & cleaned up their logo & counter word art, & added a long family-style counter table in the center of the dining room. There's a wall collection of license plates, not sure if they were once active & now retired, including the infamous "ASSMAN" plate that was shown on Seinfeld, but I don't think it's the same plate design. I tried ordering online initially, but either the platform or the browser was having issues so I called in my order; it took them awhile to pick-up & had to call twice. Subsequent orders, I noticed a slight upcharge to some of the menu items but not always. This inconsistency causes me to be a little weary & frustrated; when mentioned to the cashier, he just shrugged as if it's normal & didn't think it's an issue. Humph! I can't tell if the extra cost is for the platform or restaurant. My orders are usually done on time, & with the 12-min. drive back to the office, my meal usually stays warm. The Kamikaze Chicken Sandwich is delish! The filling just slightly overlaps the bun so you get a bite of everything (katsu, coleslaw, pickles, spicy aioli & bun) from start to finish, & that aioli packs a nice spicy punch of heat, nothing overwhelming that requires a glass of milk. There was only one time the chicken was over-flattened/unevenly flattened so it was on the drier side, normally it's a tender, juicy piece of steak. The Yubu pocket is the Korean version to the Japanese inari, which is a tofu pocket that's stuffed with sushi rice & other fillings; I tried the spicy tuna & egg salad; more than 1/2 the pocket is filled with spicy tuna & egg salad. Yum, yum! They've decreased the flavors to: cali roll, seaweed salad, spicy tuna, egg salad, & spicy cali roll; no more garlic butter shrimp (I would love to try), galbi, & cheese buldak. If you get the "assorted" combo, you get 4 pockets for $13, which is a way better deal & more than enough to be a meal. Yes, they're THAT filling! I can't tell if Katsu Bar is Japanese ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ because of some Korean menu items like tteokbokki (simmered rice cake that's a popular Korean street food made from soft, chewy, cylindrical rice cakes), kimchi dumplings. And katsu is a Japanese dish of chicken (other proteins such as pork, beef, & seafood has also been cooked this way) pounded thin, coated with panko, then fried. In any event, I really enjoy their chicken sandwich; I haven't ordered anything else because nothing else intrigued me as much as this spicy sandwich & the yubu pockets (I love inari!). Love this place. Katsu Bar is my go-to when I want curry and katsu. I used to go to the one in Cerritos and I am glad that the Torrance branch is just as consistent with their quality. Food has been good. I actually like their curry more than Coco Ichibanya as its thicker and is more spice for their default. The katsu cutlet is also HUGE. I've only had takeout from this location, but they still provide their large bento meals. I think they've changed it up recently and removed the miso soup as a side. Cashier who I've interacted with is very courteous and has greeted me whenever I'd come in. read more

I thought maybe I just got one that was overcooked so I took it back inside and the gentleman working there told me this is how it is now. Every time we come here, it's eerily empty--which baffles me. The space is inviting, the food's solid enough to keep me coming back, and the aesthetics are minimal in that Instagrammable-but-not-trying-too-hard kind of way. Maybe it's the location? I stopped in for lunch at Katsu Bar with my partner on a Sunday morning after a Costco run. I've ordered from them before using Eats but never eaten at the restaurant, and was pretty sure it would be 1000x better fresh instead of after sitting in a box for 20-30 minutes. My partner got the Katsu curry, I got a katsu curry udon, and we split a shrimp stick. The Katsu was so flaky and hot and yummy. My partner had the beef Katsu and I had the pork Katsu, both were great-- but not as good as the shrimp stick. OMG, we loved the shrimp stick. Service was good, even though there was only one person working in the front of house. Parking usually is not a problem in Katsu Bar's small strip mall plaza, but it can be a bit hit or miss. I would always recommend eating Katsu fresh, however, I have found that their Katsu sandwiches are still great the next day (you just have to air fry the katsu separately from the bread). read more

It is a tiny spot in an obscure strip mall. But I appreciate effort, freshness and very good food. I ordered take out this last week because I was under the weather, and the attention to detail, courteous greeting, very tasty Katsu curry and Katsu Caprese sealed the deal. The take out was meticulously prepared with the delicious curry on the side so the Katsu stayed crispy. The containers they use were first rate. I also ordered the Kimchee gyoza which was a very generous portion. The price for the take out dinner was very reasonable. I still received a warm, appreciative greeting from Chris who addressed me by name making me feel at home even with take out.
