Finally had the chance to stop by and I am so glad I did! Everything was great, the customer service, the ease of ordering and especially the food! Of course I wanted tried the Katsu, so I got it in the soup and the sandwich, and I cannot say which was better, it was just that good. The soup was very filling with a sweet and spicy taste. There so many ways the katsu is served, I can't wait to try all of them!

So close to 5 stars except for the mac salad. It was lacking flavoring and super dry, however I did LOVE the chicken katsu dipped in the curry sauce. It was very thin and flaky breading. Curry was not too salty and perfect thickness. I loved the strawberry cream sandwich but the strawberries were kinda tiny for the sandwich ratio. I ordered to go so I didn't get a chance to experience the service. Ambiance looks clean. I will come back to dine in next time.

Review #891 2025-063 Food Order: Kamikaze Chicken Sandwich (chicken katsu, coleslaw, pickles, spicy aioli, brioche bun) with Waffle Fries $13.00 Spicy Tuna Yubu Pocket $4.00 Egg Salad Yubu Pocket $3.50 I've had Katsu Bar bookmarked for a while since I noticed that they were in the same plaza as Sharetea (refer to Review #393), replacing defunct Burgerim (they were not bad; however, they offered some form of monetary compensation for positive feedback so take reviews with a grain of salt), but haven't been in because I'm not usually hungry but thirsty when I'm in the area. When my office started offering 3xTs (Thursday Takeout Treats), I added Katsu Bar on the rotation. The restaurant sits on the south side of the strip mall off the corner of Crenshaw & Lomita Blvds., depending on which direction you're coming from, it can be challenging to enter/exit because it's a very, very busy corner, especially after a large apartment complex that's built recently across the (north side) street. While there's decent amount of parking, it can get filled; I have parked across the street at Torrance Crossroads. I haven't dined in yet, though there's plenty of seats & the interior didn't change much; Katsu Bar kept the former's furniture & cleaned up their logo & counter word art, & added a long family-style counter table in the center of the dining room. There's a wall collection of license plates, not sure if they were once active & now retired, including the infamous "ASSMAN" plate that was shown on Seinfeld, but I don't think it's the same plate design. I tried ordering online initially, but either the platform or the browser was having issues so I called in my order; it took them awhile to pick-up & had to call twice. Subsequent orders, I noticed a slight upcharge to some of the menu items but not always. This inconsistency causes me to be a little weary & frustrated; when mentioned to the cashier, he just shrugged as if it's normal & didn't think it's an issue. Humph! I can't tell if the extra cost is for the platform or restaurant. My orders are usually done on time, & with the 12-min. drive back to the office, my meal usually stays warm. The Kamikaze Chicken Sandwich is delish! The filling just slightly overlaps the bun so you get a bite of everything (katsu, coleslaw, pickles, spicy aioli & bun) from start to finish, & that aioli packs a nice spicy punch of heat, nothing overwhelming that requires a glass of milk. There was only one time the chicken was over-flattened/unevenly flattened so it was on the drier side, normally it's a tender, juicy piece of steak. The Yubu pocket is the Korean version to the Japanese inari, which is a tofu pocket that's stuffed with sushi rice & other fillings; I tried the spicy tuna & egg salad; more than 1/2 the pocket is filled with spicy tuna & egg salad. Yum, yum! They've decreased the flavors to: cali roll, seaweed salad, spicy tuna, egg salad, & spicy cali roll; no more garlic butter shrimp (I would love to try), galbi, & cheese buldak. If you get the "assorted" combo, you get 4 pockets for $13, which is a way better deal & more than enough to be a meal. Yes, they're THAT filling! I can't tell if Katsu Bar is Japanese ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ because of some Korean menu items like tteokbokki (simmered rice cake that's a popular Korean street food made from soft, chewy, cylindrical rice cakes), kimchi dumplings. And katsu is a Japanese dish of chicken (other proteins such as pork, beef, & seafood has also been cooked this way) pounded thin, coated with panko, then fried. In any event, I really enjoy their chicken sandwich; I haven't ordered anything else because nothing else intrigued me as much as this spicy sandwich & the yubu pockets (I love inari!). Please bring back the garlic butter shrimp!! You got me at kamikaze. Recommended: Kamikaze Chicken Sandwich (this is so dope!), Spicy Tuna & Egg Salad Yubu Pockets.

Dill Egg Salad Sando its hard egg now, not gooey anymore dont get it
    Sam N.

Their Dill Egg Salad Sando is not gooey in the middle anymore. Its just a hard egg. I thought maybe I just got one that was overcooked so I took it back inside and the gentleman working there told me this is how it is now. Which unfortunately it just taste like a overcooked egg in the middle of all the sandwiches. Even their own pictures show a gooey egg in the middle still but I was told it's not like that anymore. I was really excited to try this after hearing so much about it, but I am severely disappointed. Most of the sandwich is that egg in the middle so now its just a simple hard boiled egg with no seasoning or flavor.

Wow we went here a couple times when they first opened and had a very limited menu. Well we went yesterday for the first time in ages and boy have they grown! They added so many things to the menu! Aside from the typical katsu curry. We also got shrimp sando and waffle fries which were very good. Loved the rose tteokbokki. And the egg sandwiches were creamy and oh so yummy. We will be back to check out the chicken sandwiches.

Got the curry katsu plate with chicken. The curry was mild but flavorful. The chicken was very crispy. The salad dressing was a good vinaigrette. I think they put cracked pepper in the Mac salad because there was something crunchy in that salad.

Big ol' plates of everyone's favorite comfort food served up fast for a great price. The menu is concise and what you see if what you get, which is perfect for a crowd. Great place to drink as well, the servers are attentive and the bar has lots of great options. The actual restaurant is spacious and has sports bar vibes.

Came in at 9:00 PM with my family for dinner, and the restaurant was completely empty. The man at the counter (possibly the owner) immediately told us, "We're closing early and only doing to-go." Their posted hours clearly state they close at 10 PM under new management, so we were hoping to sit down together for a family meal. When we said never mind, he suddenly changed his tune and asked if we wanted to dine in after all. By that point, the experience already felt unwelcoming and inconsistent. If the hours say 10 PM, customers should be able to expect that. Walking in for a simple family dinner shouldn't feel like an inconvenience.

Underrated Katsu Bar in Torrance. Stopped by here during heavy Friday traffic to unwind for a minute. The new owner, Mia was welcoming and very sweet. Excellent beer selection on tap and service was impeccable. Waffle Fries rival any I've ever had. Must try if you're close by!

Every time we come here, it's eerily empty--which baffles me. The space is inviting, the food's solid enough to keep me coming back, and the aesthetics are minimal in that Instagrammable-but-not-trying-too-hard kind of way. Maybe it's the location? Still, service is consistently decent: quiet, attentive, and they'll usually come down to take your order, though QR codes and phone ordering are an option too. The dishes always look amazing, and the ones I've tried mostly live up to the visual promise. Let's start with the mushroom tempura appetizer--crispy, light, and a definite repeat order. For mains, I used to be loyal to the Dill Egg Salad Sando... until I encountered rogue bits of eggshell. Twice. I get it, these things happen (I've made enough egg salad to know), but still, it was enough to ruin the vibe. So I pivoted to the Rosemary Katsu Sando--which quickly stole my heart... until I met the Portobello Katsu Sando. Game over. This is now THE one--perfectly crispy, hearty, and ridiculously satisfying. My husband swears by the Curry Udon with Katsu. I respect it, but it doesn't quite hit my personal flavour profile. To each their own.

I stopped in for lunch at Katsu Bar with my partner on a Sunday morning after a Costco run. I've ordered from them before using Eats but never eaten at the restaurant, and was pretty sure it would be 1000x better fresh instead of after sitting in a box for 20-30 minutes. My partner got the Katsu curry, I got a katsu curry udon, and we split a shrimp stick. The Katsu was so flaky and hot and yummy. My partner had the beef Katsu and I had the pork Katsu, both were great-- but not as good as the shrimp stick. OMG, we loved the shrimp stick. Service was good, even though there was only one person working in the front of house. Parking usually is not a problem in Katsu Bar's small strip mall plaza, but it can be a bit hit or miss. I would always recommend eating Katsu fresh, however, I have found that their Katsu sandwiches are still great the next day (you just have to air fry the katsu separately from the bread).

Pro tip: I add Chef Troy's Crunchy Garlic Chili Oil for an extra level of flavor (purchased at Vons)

The Millefeuille Katsu Gozen is insanely juicy with a perfect crisp, and the Uni Pasta is rich, creamy, and loaded with uni flavor. Gozen sets come with rice, miso, salad, and sides so it's a full meal. Service is super friendly -- they even give you sesame seeds to grind for your katsu sauce. Gets packed, so make a reservation. The setup is fast casual: you place your order at the counter, and when it's ready, you can either take it to go or eat in the shared dining hall. I ordered the pork loin plate set (tonkatsu), which came with a fried pork cutlet, shredded cabbage and condiments. The meal also included a bowl of steamed rice and a bowl of miso soup. If you check out the brand's website (kagurausa*com), you'll find six locations in LA County. Each spot might be set up a little differently--some could be full-service restaurants, while others might offer alcohol sales. The location of this store is convenient, and sometimes you just want the meal without the need for a full-service restaurant. The meal, itself, was well-prepared and satisfying.

Came here for a date night and will definitely be coming back!…read more The meal came with complementary ice tea, I believe it was barley or oolong tea. I ordered the ten toji don combo and a salmon hand roll. The food came out fast and was piping hot. The portions were also huge for not a ton of money. The udon was delicious and the ten toji don was good as well! I loved the combo of the shrimp tempura with the egg. The salmon hand roll tasted fresh as well, 8/10. There is ample seating in the restaurant and lots of parking outside. The restaurant is also located in a shopping plaza with many other restaurants and dessert places.

So people needed to squeeze by and then one guy asked if he could sit for a moment at my table. I said okay. But then I think he planned to stay at my table until finally my waiter moved him! There was a seat at one their tables the whole time. Then their waitress wedge herself with her back toward me in between the tables and I had to stop eating. Very disruptive and rude. Taking a while for the six people to order so I nudged her and I asked her to move and she seemed upset that I did that but didn't say anything no apology so it was very uncomfortable and I was rushing through my food so I burnt my tongue on the hot soup again even though I knew it was hot because I just wanted to get out of there. And then when I was done, I had to wait a while for the check and then they couldn't process the Apple Pay at the table so then I had to go to the front and wait for somebody to attend to me there overall this experience was not fun and stressful and I had got there right when they opened. I sure wish I had selected a different seat!! I wouldn't get the Nabeyaki soup again. It was really big and had a lot of end pieces of tough napa cabbage. There were two pieced of shitake mushroom and the standard thin fish cake slice. There was and egg in the soup and a three small chicken pieces. On the side were three small pieces of green bean and two tempura shrimp.

Their extra portion of noodles basically doubles up the amount you'd normally eat. But be warned if you decide to do this.. it doesn't come with additional broth so don't slurp it up too early! If you get their set, it comes with a side salad, miso, a drink, and a small bowl of chicken kaarage too. At that price point, you'll be leaving this place stuffed or a 2GO box. We also got their yakitori bowl which were met with 0 complaints. It was decent! Their combo option makes it worth it too. Overall a good spot. Perfect for families with little kids too. They have crayons and activities for them while the adults eat.

It says "2Go" so I believed it. Maybe I really was under the influence of my own hunger but it felt like it took forever for them to "heat up" my food-- and as it turned out, it wasn't even warmed to any acceptable level for however long it took them. There's nobody else in the shop! I would've been more understanding if the restaurant was full of customers, but it was just me and my husband, Then after we ordered, there was just one other customer waiting for her food as she sat waiting for her order. In any case, the food was good, a little bit on the bland side but it satisfied both our hunger. Anything wrapped in seaweed is good eats lol. I got: panko fried shrimp (5.75), karaage fried chicken (6.75) and ume (plum) shiso with spam ($3.95), then 2 chicken skewers (negima) Total was $25.30. Parking is free, shared with other businesses. I would rate it 3.5 but round off to 4 and not let my hangry-ness take over.
