I have a coworker who raves about TOYO SUSHI so we ordered a few rolls and their spicy garlic edamame for delivery. We love sushi but this, unfortunately, didn't do it for us. Came here with my wife to celebrate her birthday. We ordered the Vermont boat and added some items like toro. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish and service. Our favorite cuts were the yellowtail, toro and albacore. I would say the quality is close to nearby spots like sushi yoshi, and even sugar fish. I love Toyo sushi! Ive been ordering it since a couple of years ago and it's always so fresh and never disappoints. We usually get the maki boat which is pretty good price for 5 delicious rolls. My favorite ones are the baked salmon and the spicy tuna. Their salads are good too, the mango avocado one is very fresh and they serve it very well. Love love Toyo! This is my go to "fast" sushi spot. And I only say fast because services is usually fast and always very friendly. The location is great too as it had a lot of parking nearby. They have a lot of tables so the wait is rarely long here. I usually just walk in and am seated. I have also had this place on Doordash and food always arrives fresh and still hot. This is a hard review to write because this is our favorite sushi spot. The fish is good and fresh. Unfortunately, the last three times we've ordered (Doordash), all of our rolls fall apart when we try to eat them or separate a piece from a roll. I'm not sure what's changed but it isn't good and deters us from ordering from them again. Our sushi order ends up being a pile of mushy rice with fish mixed in, instead of an actual enjoyable roll. We ordered a Philly roll, Baked Lobster roll, tuna roll, and Fire Cracker roll, and all of them fell apart. Super disappointing. read more

Went for a friend's bday - 3 of us had the whole restaurant to ourselves during the lunch hour on a Sunday. Great food and service, best part was the variety. The first thing I noticed about this place was the friendly server! She was so inviting and quickly set up a table of 6 for my group on a Sunday around 1 pm. Thankfully, it wasn't crowded because I can imagine that the restaurant is busy at other times. I was amazed at the choices of sushi in different categories: "fresh," "baked," "tempura," "seared," etc. I had the baked salmon roll and was raving about it to my family. Other people in my party also liked the rolls they ordered. I tried a piece of someone else's order (a rainbow roll) and liked that, too. There are enough tables and a lot of parking, although the strip mall isn't the prettiest. I would definitely return because the food and service were terrific! I have been here before - even way before my Yelping days - and it says a lot when they're still standing strong even during these pandemic times. It was time for a comeback, so Hubbers, my parental units and I decided to come through on a Friday lunch rush. We arrived close to opening time because although we didn't anticipate a crowd, it was best to avoid it (just in case.) We were seated immediately. The rest of my party took some time to read through the menu. I didn't have to: I have this place bookmarked and made a list of things I already knew I wanted to get. Our server was prompt with getting a list of drinks we wanted and those were delivered fast as well. SABA NIGIRI: It is as expected with its salty and briny and savory flavor. A small dab of wasabi and a small amount of soy sauce kinda made it better, but didn't really need em. It was good as is. BAKED LOBSTER ROLL: I'm not sure if there was any lobster in this, but I do understand they interchange lobster and crawfish meat. I ordered it because I was curious. It tasted exactly as I imagined it would - I might have preferred a stronger presence of the lobster, though, because after all, it is named after that particular crustacean. DEEP FRIED SOFT SHELLED CRABS: It was way too heavily battered - i'm guessing to hide its smaller-than-it really-is size. I wouldn't have cared that it's small because soft shelled crabs are naturally packed with flavor. The batter kinda overpowered that. Mediocre at best. SALMON COLLAR: Looked great, but the inside was undercooked. There were slightly raw parts of it. I'm guessing the temp on the grill was too high. Still delicious, but it could be better. Pop's choice for lunch is a the chicken bento. Although he enjoyed the tempura, soup and the side California rolls, he didn't take more than a bite of the teriyaki chicken - they were dry and tough! was tough! This would be a hard pass for next time. FOOD: 3. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Private lot shared with others. Street also available. Shouldn't be an issue. OVERALL: 3.25. They are a popular lunch spot. All tables were occupied by the time we left. Above par, at best, but I'm not ruling them out altogether. There's still a few things I would love to try, so there will be a follow up visit. Here's hoping for improvement then. read more

We've had Japanese food from many places, but I have to say Toyo Sushi is one of the best. We especially love their Bento Special. You get to taste samples of many delicious Japanese food in one setting. People are very courteous and friendly. If you ask them cook your food in a certain way, they will make it to exactly the way you requested. We live in San Diego County, and whenever we visit Torrance, Toyo Sushi is the first place to visit to have our meals. It's that good! read more

The Vermont Boat was perfect for two people. Just the right amount of food. Loved the presentation, however, I just thought the sushi was ok.
