My husband and I went to Blufish for his birthday. We have been here several times and the food and service are excellent! Last night my husband ordered 2 appetizers, 3 pieces of sushi each and 4 rolls for us to share. He didn't specify "long" or "short" roll, which we should have, so they gave us long rolls. REALLY? There were only 2 of us. The large rolls are 10-12 pieces each!!!! That was a bad call on the part of the waitress. She should have asked us or common sense should have told her that the short rolls would have been fine for 2 people! My favorite blufish restaurant. Not only it delivers great sushi and ambiance, it employs the right people. The hostess was nice and welcoming and was able to get us a table where we asked without a previous reservation. The ordering process was quick and smooth, fast service and amazing drinks. My favorite is pear martini and for food the caterpillar roll. I' ve been there several times for lunch, dinner and carryout. This is the closest decent sushi place to our home. Atmosphere is modern, on a nicer side, service is hit or miss, a bit slow, but generally adequate. The rolls here are good though, particularly dragon rolls and rainbow. A bit too heavy on tempura at times, but fresh tasty and presented well. Prices are moderate to expensive. Didnt try much besides sushi and sashimi, but do recommend specialty rolls. read more

Decent sushi place for a quick bite in the Glenview area; however, the spicy tuna roll was lacking in the heat department and had an overabundance of rice (bad tuna to rice ratio). The tuna sashimi was good but not the freshest I've ever had in the Chicago suburbs. Also, when i placed my order for carryout, the hostess told me it should take no more than 5-10 minutes, but my order did not come for about 20 min. The only reason I don't dine here more is because I don't live or work near here. It is more hip and trendy than other places if that's your thing. That makes it ideal for a date or a group event. As for the menu, I've only tried a few things given the limited times being there. Order the short versions of the rolls. 5 pcs but a lot of rice. Though you can sample more this way, - Special Spicy Tuna Roll: good, a little smoky; would have again - Dragon Roll: good - Mackerel nigiri: DELICIOUS And the less stellar items: - White Dragon Roll: nothing exceptional but good - Sashimi cut well. I love this place and it's my favorite Sushi restaurant but lately the customer service has not been so great I walked in last Wednesday at 6 pm and the host sat me and my friend in a. Tiny table very close to another couple and their kids. I noticed two booths completely open and went up to the host and said can you just seat us in the booth she's like oh no sorry it's by reservation that's a lie lol because they don't take reservations so I said ok after about 30 min no one sat in those booths and they were still very empty so I knew she was obviously lying when our waitress came she was really rude to the point where my friend even made a comment about it and it's just sucks it's a great restaurant but the staff isn't the best another time I came in they told me and my sis the wait would be 45 min my sister wanted to leave but I told her don't worry they always lie lol after 5 minutes we were miraculously seated and didn't have to wait 45 min so I just recommend not lying to customers because we're not stupid and maybe try seating more people at the booths and be more pleasant with customers read more

Their new location (just a few units down from the original) is really beautiful. It's not as dark and there are beautiful chandeliers hanging. The food is still great (I love the crunchy muffy and dirty old man rolls - ignore the weird names they're delicious). I did feel like I was being rushed out though. Wonderful service, great tasting food and a surprisingly affordable price for the amount of food my chicken bento provided me. We had a business meeting here with some clients and arrived a bit before they opened for lunch. Without seeming irritated in the slightest (I might be) they sat us and informed us it would be a few minutes before we could order lunch (no problem, we'll talk about work things while we wait). The server was friendly, quick and everything came out as ordered. For $8 I had mild expectations, in terms of portion size, for my bento box but holy hannah was there a lot of food (and my was it tasty). Everyone else at the table enjoyed their food as well. Came here a year ago and front desk wasn't the most hospitable so we left. Tonight, we were in the area and decided to pop in for dinner. Even my husband, who's never pleased, said he was pleasantly surprised how much he enjoyed dinner. We didn't order anything too fancy; we had the spicy tuna seaweed salad to start, I had the red dragon and a few other sushi pieces, and my husband had a sushi platter. I ordered a different dessert that was so frozen that my spoon wouldn't even slide in and I had to chisel my way through it and gave up. I thought the food at BluFish was pretty solid; however, the service and value was not there for me. The restaurant has a nice, upscale, and modern ambiance. The service is incredibly slow - the place was empty and it took forever to get our edamame. The price for the suburbs just seemed high - $16+ for some of the signature rolls. We started with the seasoned edamame. It was incredibly oily - I would just order the regular kind if I go back. For rolls, we got Ocean Drive, Salmon, Avocado, and Rainbow. All of the rolls were very good - you could tell the fish was fresh and they were all very pretty. Solid food, but pricey for the suburbs. read more

Given that I love sushi, I decided to check out this place with my friends. I was surprised to see so many people inside, you'll be deceived from the looks outside. I was surprised of how spacious the place was, and the interior was on point. The owner did a nice job decorating the place. As for the food, I ordered the nigiri combination. I love nigiri so I can taste the difference between fresh and packaged. Majority of their nigiri was packaged and the only ones that may have been fresh were the salmon, white-tuna, and flute. I didn't enjoy the fresh ones either, after eating the white-tuna it tasted watery and I couldn't enjoy it at all. I saw many chefs in the sushi bar, but after eating my food I just pondered why their were so many chefs... Got the stuffed mushrooms as an app, they were good nothing spectacular. For entree I got the short rib and the boyfriend got the shrimp..... the shrimp were steamed. No salt, no seasoning, NOTHING. I mean they were rubber and had NOTHING on them. My short rib was underwhelming but a lot more flavorful than the shrimp. Got two roll, the dirty old man and pesto shrimp. Again, underwhelming. I'm telling you, save yourself the hyped up wait and go down the street to Shakou where food is INCREDIBLE and you can eat dinner without feeling awkward and maybe even tap your neighbor who's a whole 8-12 inches away. read more

We love BluFish Sushi. Best sushi on the north shore. I have been there a dozen times now and have never had a bad meal there. The menu is huge so if you are dining with people who don't necessarily like sushi, try the bento boxes or main entrée dishes. The sushi menu is large and they have a lot of unique sushi recipes. The sushi is always fresh. The avocado roll is amazing. The lunch menu is great but you must get there by 2:00pm or else you will have to wait for dinner there. I have been there for lunch and dinner and it is always busy. The service is great. The people working there are so nice and always attentive.
