Sorry that I didn't know about this place till recently - up until now, I hadn't really found a great pretzel in the Asheville area and would have told you the best soft pretzels were at Sam's Club! The owner is from Germany, and brought his recipe and technique with him. These pretzels are the real deal, featuring a mildly crunchy, salty malt-brown exterior and a soft, dense, stretchy-chewy interior that's just waiting for a dip of Lusty Monk mustard or one of their excellent beer-cheeses. Amazing pretzels, better people. Blunt Pretzels is in a community that got absolutely rocked by Hurricane Helene. Pretty much as soon as the rain stopped, they were outside cooking pretzels for anyone who came by, no questions asked. Soon after, the people in town started donating the food from their fridges as it became clear that the power would be out for a while. Blunt transitioned to making meals out of the rescued food and serving them, again at no charge and with no regard for their own business. All the while they were still making and giving out pretzels, using up what I assume was thousands of dollars in inventory. As of this writing (12 days after the storm landed) they are still going. If that doesn't make you want to drop everything and go here, you need to know that the pretzels are so incredibly delicious. And that's even cooked on a camping oven in a parking lot in the middle of a disaster zone. Imagine what they taste like when they are done under idela circumstances! They seemed to have a great beer and wine list, but that was not available as they were more concerned with taking care of the community. If you find yourself in the beautiful mountains near Swannanoa, do yourself a favor and come check them out. If you aren't in the area but want one of the best pretzels in the world, they also deliver through their website, but you may need to wait until the storm damage is repaired before they can start delivering again. In full disclosure, I did have the amazing opportunity to volunteer with their feeding effort. It's a cute little place on a side street off Rte 70 where you can walk in and order freshly made pretzels: regular & jumbo as well as adorable little knots, and they've added some interesting beer cheeses to the menu to go with. This is the first time I've been in a blunt pretzel, I purchased one at Downtown After Five, which is a street festival in Asheville North Carolina ,pretzel was very tasty, the mustard sauce they had was excellent, spicy that you can eat it, but not so hot I took away from the flavor of pretzel. They have a bunch of local drafts on tap and bake their own pretzels, knots, and braids and have traditional beer cheese (my favorite), nutella, paprika cheese, and mustard for dipping. Perfect pretzels I could eat ten of them. Fun cheese dips, beer selection that's diverse enough to make anyone happy. A hidden gem in Swannanoa, this place is one of my favorite hangs. The beer garden is very picturesque and peaceful. They have a great selection of German beers as well as local beer and some domestics. The pretzels are fantastic and very consistent. Great pretzels, amazing people, wonderful community. This is the 2nd year my family has spent Christmas in Swannanoa and of course this year was VERY different than last year. We live outside of Winston-Salem, NC and have been seeing photos of the devastation in the Western NC area. Blunt pretzels is located in the heart of Swannanoa and may be the heart of this community. The best pretzels we have had outside of Amish country Pennsylvania and they are feeding their community free meals to anyone who shows up, every night, including Christmas! Donations are keeping them going. You can go on their website and donate or order pretzels to be shipped. The beer cheese and mustard is worth the hype too! Warning: have drink handy before trying the mustard. Volunteers are making the food, all donations go to help those who desperately need it. From South Texas and came upon this amaxing place .They have Fantastic pretzels amazing service and atmosphere.

An honest review. The braid pretzel was amazing! Slight crunch, soft pillowy bread-like interior. The Jumbo was hard throughout. The reason for this is that these pretzels are made beforehand and frozen, to be reheated in a salamander type oven with a door on it. A thicker pretzel like the braid can withstand reheating, the thinner ones IMHO dry out. Start to finish it took about ten minutes for the pretzel to hit the oven to my hands. The only mustard supplied is the Lusty Monks brand. If you ever had it, you would know. Its extremely harsh, almost like eating pure horseradish. An alternative of plain old yellow would be nice. Two pretzels, a braid and a large, cost a total of twenty bucks, with tax. On to the personal: The staff was hidden in the back, but all came out when I hollered "Hello?" A woman with a seven year old girl came in when I was there, it was just the four of us, and the music was, "explicit" lyrics that are completely inappropriate including the use of the 'F' and 'N' word? I don't understand a owner allowing that. Also the credit card machine forces you with a giant splash screen to leave a tip, which is ridiculous, I went to the counter and no-one served me, why am I tipping? It forces me to leave fifteen percent or hit no tip, and look like a schmuck. Don't get me wrong, I always tip but the forcing rankles. Unfortunately my spouse can't eat that mustard so we took it to go, so I can't say anything about the beer. Counter staff were very nice! read more

Fun little place in Marshall, this is where the magic happens! You may have tried the tasty bites Erhard Schoeffmann (talk about German!) creates, when you visit your favorite brewery, but there's nothing quite like fresh, hot-out-of-the-oven pretzels. Not your usual mall store variety, we're talking sesame seeds, lusty monk mustard, and other accoutrements. Take a trip to Marshall, plan to visit some additional spots here, including Zuma, Sweet Monkey, or maybe even the Star Diner. The annual Mermaid Festival in Marshall would be a great time for this, I understand Blunt has special plans. But you better come early, because the festival makes things busy here. read more

This place is amazing. There is a TikTok floating around of a man asking people to lie on blunt pretzels which I will not do. This place is amazing and I've watched them treat everyone amazing. I was there when that man came in a threw a fit because he didn't get treated the way he thought he was supposed to get treated. He was belligerent from the very start and cussing loudly in front of the kids. The man was a complete psychopath. This place was great and I recommend them to anyone. Stopped by and got a bag of frozen pretzel knots to have for guests coming in for the weekend. Followed the warming instructions on the included card, and they came out perfectly cooked! We made a beer cheese sauce and a spicy mustard sauce for dipping. They were really good, but they were GREAT when dipped in some leftover cooked chocolate cake icing. I found Blunt Pretzels while visiting the New Belgium Brewery in Asheville. I spoke with the gentleman vendor at length about the merits of a good pretzel vs what I call "twisted bread" and how the coating/cooking method they use is truly the only correct method. They were hands down the BEST pretzels I've ever had, and I've had hundreds from all over the US. A nice chewy outside, with a soft warm center. The perfect exterior pretzel flavor. Just the right amount of pretzel salt, and an amazing complimentary mustard to go along with it. If you can get one right out of the over then you should get two! But don't let that prevent you from enjoying the ones on the rack. In general i don't like soft pretzels once they have cooled, but somehow these pretzels remained nice and soft, not dry, even after they had cooled. Amazing! I even bought a few extra on the way out from the brewery to take back to the B&B so i could enjoy them again and again. 25 seconds in the microwave wrapped in a paper towel and its good to go! This may sound like an exaggeration, but I am totally serious when I say that finding these pretzels was the highlight of my Asheville trip, and that included the dozens of breweries, restaurants, and The Biltmore Estate. We're at the New Belgium Brewery & they had a cart outside selling these heavenly, addicting Bavarian pretzels & knots, with hot grainy mustard on the side. Thank goodness we were heading home, for I could of parked myself by the cart & consumed every last one of them.
