Used to come to this place a few times a month but I've since moved out of the area. I decided to take someone here to get a banh mi and they opted for the meal plan based on the unsavory photos of the banh mi. To my surprise, and great disappointment, they've swapped out the baguette buns for what amounts to a hoagie/large hot dog bun. Compare the photos that others have posted from the past year to prior years and you can see how dry, bready, and pale the bread is. The chicken banh mi was honestly not even just disappointing, it was actually awful. The garlic fries are also really soggy, just an overly sweet and mealy mess. The meal plan was also mediocre, nothing made it stand out from Panda Express, aside from the fact that the portions are less and you are paying $15 for a small box. Honestly such good chicken wings here, super crispy and super flavorful! When I ordered them they were freshly made and still hot, I would 100% come here just for the wings. One glance at the photo of chicken wings in all its fried goodness glory was all it took to convince us to make a quick pit stop between afternoon errands. Blurr has a more "home style" kind of twist to it. It may not be pretty, but it sure tastes good. Being my second time here, I wanted to check out their meal since I only got the wings last time which were pretty decent. I started with a Noodle base with a side of Brussels Sprouts, and half Beef half Ribs as my protein. Everything in that box was cooked well, seasoned well, and not a bad bang for your buck coming out to only about $12. Compared to Poke Poke next door, that's not bad. You could taste the love that goes into the food. Beef tasted like Mongolian style, noodles were garlicky, and the ribs were surprisingly tender and flavorful. 3.5/5, rounded up because I felt good after eating it. This used to be a center i used to go for cuz Starbucks, Noah's and jamba. I'm so happy this place is here. Was yummy!!! I loved their grilled pork Bahn Mi along with their garlic fries. One of my lunch time favorites! Blurr Kitchen serves up Vietnamese to go food, offering banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) as well as several to-go options, including a vegetarian option (tofu). I think I've tried almost all of the to-go options. I still have the appetizers and sandwiches to try. So far, everything has been delicious, though on the saltier and oilier side. I usually get a different protein each time I come here, but for sides, I love to get their green beans. It has a strong garlic taste, which I love. The garlic noodles is also a favorite of mine. I'm not sure if their soup changes, but the one I got was the fish soup, which has a tangy flavor profile. It was like comfort food to me because it had the nostalgic taste that I grew up eating. Came here for lunch with my friend. He ordered some of the take-out food and I ordered the wings. One order has 5 wings. For $1.30 per wing, its pretty expensive, but the sauce around the wings are GOOD! If you have ever tried San Tung wings in San Francisco, they taste somewhat similar. The wings are nice and crispy on the outside and even though they are Habenero wings, they are not spicy at all unless you actually eat the pepper. The service is also really good. The cashier was very patient and respectful. My only negative comment is that the wings were really dry and chewy in the middle. I know that they want to make the skin crispy and brown, but unlike other chicken places like Bonchon or 99 Chicken, the chicken was not juicy whatsoever. I also wasn't too crazy about the banh mi that I ordered last time I came. It's well made, but it is not necessarily something I would crave. I could get a similar sandwich at the traditional Vietnamese restaurants for way cheaper. I probably might come back to try the other dishes they have to offer. We came Sunday morning with the hopes of some brunch.. my husband was especially looking forward to their flank steak, eggs, and baguette weekend special. Blurr Kitchen has a great variety of protein options to go on their "meal" (comprises of fried rice/ garlic noodles + protein + a side). What I also really appreciated was that you could get a taste of the different meats before you make a decision. The different proteins that I can remember of the top of my head are garlic beef, spicy pork, pepper tofu, lemongrass chicken, coconut chicken, sweet thai fish. So update because I tried a few more things: Green beans- 4/5 perfectly balanced flavor but too oily Crispy spring rolls 4/5 extremely crunchy and tasty with the dipping sauce BUT you get 5 tiny spring rolls and a whole bunch of random greens that no one eats (big 'ol chunks of lettuce, a sprig of mint and cilantro) for $7. For $8.50 you get a Bahn Mi sandwich AND "garlic fries" which is a filling meal. So value wise, I would avoid this. Brussel sprouts-4/5 taste wise yummy but drenched in oil (and it ain't no olive oil). Something very healthy has been made unhealthy. Fried rice- 3.5.5 decent Garlic noodles- 3.5/5 pretty good but not the best I've had I scoffed at another review that said the meat is "too flavorful". I mean, isn't flavor a good thing?? But now I get what they meant. The meat has way too much going on (esp the fish), to the point where you can only enjoy it with something bland like fried rice, not by itself. I think the pork is the only exception. I had to add some shredded carrot/radish from the spring rolls to my rice just to tone down the flavors of the meats and balance it out. I'm in love with the food, it gives me the feels, but they don't treat me well. Still I keep coming back for more. Why? Last April, after some minor service-level issues they flat-out forgot my food one time. After waiting more than 20 minutes I left with a refund and no food. This upset me so I stopped going.
