Finally visited Annie's after literally passing by it every single day for decades. I'm super happy that there's Bánh mì at all on the west side of town. The price is pretty high but on par for the area. Ambiance is good for a quick sit down but def looks more of a to-go place. Service is fast cuz they're not that busy. I had the B1. Combo Sandwich (Thit Nguoi) for $10.95 + tax. Decent amount of meat, average sized baguette, tasty but not amazing. It does the job and is passable which again is more than I can ask for in Santa Clara. Saves me the 30 min drive and 40 min line at Duc Huong. As for quality, it's a step better than Banh Mi Oven, less than Y Linh and Duc Huong for my viet eaters out there. Bread is pliable, pate is average, meats could be better. Overall, a 3/5 food but bumping an extra star for convenience. Pleasantly surprised. Would come back

5=Service, Value; 4=Food; 3=Ambience Annie's Sandwiches is a hidden gem that's been in neighborhood for several decades. If my memory is correct, Annie owned the dry cleaner shop next door first then opened the cafe. When lived closer to neighborhood as an SCU alum, I would stop by to satisfy my craving for Vietnamese food when heading into San Jose was too far. This past year, remembered Annie's is closer and more affordable when Dad asked for a "Vietnamese Sandwich." Ate spring roll, the sardine, grilled pork & tofu bahn mis in previous visits. Today, Dad ate grilled chicken bahn mi and I chose avocado. Bread always crisp & fresh. Large enough to enjoy sandwich over two meals or share and small enough to eat the entire sandwich without feeling overstuffed. While both plant based options are enjoyable, my taste buds slightly prefer the avocado even though it is less protein. The traditional Vietnamese bahn mi pickles and condiments seem to blend very well with the avocado slices. I also ordered a green matcha iced latte, which had a slight lavender undertone. Unsure if intentional or my post covid taste buds giving me mixed signals. I'm no longer into matcha and trying this after a hiatus reminds me to go back to retiring this from my ordering options. "Annie" (unsure if original Annie or if she sold the business, I will need to ask next visit) and her assistant friendly, fast & responsive.

I was a little suspicious that the combination sandwich has American ham in it. Usually, I want it to be cha lua, head cheese, and/or Vietnamese char siu. Ultimately my suspicions were right, the sandwich was just ok. The bread was the best part, but the fillings were a bit stingy. We added extra pate and felt there was barely any. The meats weren't super generous by any means. It scratched the itch for a banh mi, but it was not even close to great. Service was fast which is a plus if you are jonesing for a sandwich. But, I'm sure there are better ones in SJ.

I can't believe I haven't been to Annie's since I took OChem at SCU back in 2016. My husband and I have obviously been to the Silicon Valley area plenty of times since then, but I just never thought about going back to my old stomping grounds. So this past weekend, since we were nearby, I decided to go visit Annie's again as I was feeling nostalgic. Fast forward 9 years later and Annie's has changed owners, and there is now an ordering kiosk. There is also a giant poster full of stamp cards that people have used in the past decorating their back wall. The ambiance is the same, and the new owners are friendly and greeted me when we stepped in. We ordered via the kiosk and noticed that they now offer vermicelli bowls. I wasn't feeling like banh mi so we quickly went for the bowls instead. I got the pork and my husband got the beef. For $10.95 each it was a good price, especially for the area. In terms of the speed at which the food was prepared, it was still the same. Efficiency has always been a part of their motto it seems. We waited less than 5 min for our food to be ready to go. When we got home, we eagerly dug in. It was a good amount of food for the price, and honestly we were glad we got the vermicelli bowls instead of the banh mi. All the veggies were fresh and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I wish there were more fish sauce given to us though, I had to add some more from my personal stock at home. I also wish there were more meat. While the meat was flavorful and pretty tender, there definitely wasn't enough of it. I liked that they packed the food in compostable containers as well! That's important to me. (The food held up well on our drive home too, and we air-fried the meat to heat it up once we got home.) We did notice the banh mi cost the same as the vermicelli bowls. Personally I think that the bowls are a better value for your buck, so I'd probably stick to ordering bowls if I'm in the area again. I'm glad my husband and I went to support Annie's and I'd definitely recommend this place for a quick bite if you're a student or need to stay in the SCU area, but of course there are far better banh mi/vermicelli bowl places in SJ if you are able to drive.

Opens at 10am. I picked up some sandwiches for a work meeting (a coworker recommended it) and the staff were super friendly and sweet. You can order at a kiosk which I found convenient. Sandwiches didn't take too long, a few mins. I got the Vietnamese grilled chicken sandwich and it was yummy! They also have a buy 10 stamp card and get one free.

First time. Clean restaurant. Customer service is excellent! Ordered the most popular sandwich "grilled pork" #6 and it was so good and very filling. I like the jalapeño for a little kick. I would recommend and go back!

This is my go-to banh mi sandwich shop during the days I go into work. Banh mi is almost impossible to find in the area, so I'm glad that Annie's is still in existence. My favorite order is their #1 special combo sandwich with extra pate. The baguette is usually perfect, a nice light crunch that doesn't tear up the roof of my mouth. The combo of steam pork roll, BBQ pork, and ham is balanced well with their pickled veggies, cilantro, and tolerable jalapeños. Their meaty grilled chicken sandwich would be my second choice, also with extra pate. I would normally go with the grilled pork sandwich, but theirs lacked that true grilled taste that I'm used to. My drink of choice is their refreshing Vietnamese iced coffee, which again is hard to find in the area. Service is quick and always with a smile.

I had a banh mi day today. Since I've tried banh mi places near my school, I went to Santa clara University to see what they have to offer for food there. Annies was the one I saw. Upon entering, I was welcomed by whom I believe the owner and his wife were. They were happy and nice as I walked in. The place was clean and the service was very fast. I went to the bathroom and came out and my food was finished. About 1 minute. I ordered the beef banh mi with veggies, etc. It didn't look as good at first, but the flavor was great. The only issue was that I thought the banh mi was small. The price was 12$, which is kind of high for a banh mi and more expensive than the one at san jose State University called banh Mi oven. The food didn't fill me up and so I had to eat somewhere else after like El Pollo loco. The area was nice, though. No loitering and a calm, quiet road. I enjoyed the scenery and the trees outside. It was raining too. The parking was across the street from this place, and alot of students were walking around. I enjoyed it but again, It wasn't enough.

For a place that specializes in Banh Mi, I found myself incredibly disappointed in their offering. At first sight I was pretty optimistic because the bread was clearly quite fresh and crunchy which is something you always want to see with a Banh Mi. Once I started eating it however, the optimism quickly faded. The first thing I noticed was that it was pretty small and nowhere close to packed full with meat and other fillings. Given the high price point relative to other Banh Mi in the area, the lack of filling is a big drawback. If it blew me away with flavor and quality I might be able to forgive the small portions, but unsurprisingly it fell flat in that regard as well. The grilled pork was entirely forgettable, overly soft and sweet and a far cry from the taste and quality I've found at other places. When you make exclusively Banh Mi, it's a problem when you get beat out in price, quality, AND portion by a number of local pho restaurants where the sandwich is only an afterthought on their larger menu.

Saw the good reviews for this place and gave it a try but I definitely regret my decision. Combo Banh Mi - Bread was good, but the sandwich was super bland which is a first for me. Quite possibly the most uninspired banh mi I've ever had. Spring Rolls - Super small. The peanut sauce they give is watered down and looked like it was mixed with sriracha. One of my rolls had a hair stuck to it. If you've never had a banh mi from a legit spot, you might like this. For the initiated - don't waste your money here.

With some coffees a second cup will give me a stomach ache (especially since I drink my cold brews black and bitter like my soul), but I had no problems with their cold brews! I also got the vegan stonefruit scone (baked by Sweet Dragon) and while a little on the dry side (common with scones), paired extremely well with the coffee and had good flavor. Husband got a cappuccino and a strawberry mini pie and was extremely pleased with his order. The service is friendly, but some things may have been new on the day we went. They almost forgot my cold brew until we asked at the counter, as well as stating that they didn't have anything to heat up my husband's strawberry pie (which seems odd, since a little toaster oven seems like a simple fix for that), but apparently it was fantastic at room temperature anyway. Seating was absolutely full when we got there and we were lucky to snag a table as another couple left, so it seems like a popular Saturday morning spot. Several folks were working on laptops, and it seems like a kid-friendly place. The decor is a clean and modern/trendy industrial style, which works well for the space, and the windows provide nice daylight. Overall, a good coffee shop and I am really happy to see vegan pastry options! My husband is getting into pinball, which was part of the motivation to come out and try Chromatic, so I am sure we'll be back again next time he wants to hit up Slingshot (in the same building), and I look forward to the coffee and treats!

The seating area is quite limited for the large crowd it attracts, making the atmosphere inside feel a bit chaotic at peak times. Fortunately, the baristas are super polite and work fast, keeping the long lines moving efficiently. The coffee menu and the retail bean selection are both impressive. I decided to try a dulce de leche coffee. While I was expecting a strong caramel profile of dulce de leche, the flavor turned out to be fairly subtle rather than prominent. It added a significant sweetness, but without knowing the order beforehand, identifying the exact flavor would have been tough. That said, the coffee itself was still refreshing The high quality of the coffee bean really shone through, delivering a rich aroma and the ideal caffeine kick for a breezy morning. Great coffee beans and fast service make it worth dropping in, even if the indoor seating situation is a bit tight.
