We stopped at Blu Water Bistro for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant, which is located overlooking Seattle bay and has a wonderful view, was mainly empty at 12:45. We ordered fish and chips, crab wontons and a salmon sandwich. Most of the food was unimpressive. Fish and chips came with almost uneatable COLE slaw that tasted stale and chemically. Fries were probably the best. Fish and chips coated with thick breadcrumbs and overcooked. Wontons were okay - not bad, nothing to rave about. Typical of places with the view, neither food nor service was that good. Service was slow and forgetful. All around a two star experience. Tips: View is the best here. Food was a very poorly curated menu and not tasty. Plenty of parking on a lot adjacent to Blu Water. read more

Mother's Day: This is the second time we've gone here to celebrate. The first time was fine, but today? Not so much. We had a reservation and were seated fairly quickly, but after that we waited for quite a while to get a server. OJ was brought eventually, and it was WARM. When the food came, it was lukewarm and my husband's dish arrived incomplete--we had to ask for his scone, which she subsequently forgot to bring, so we had to ask again. When it came, it was hard and dry--a hockey puck. The potatoes were waxy and served with a weird glob of ranch dressing. The tea ordered came with lukewarm water that couldn't steep anything--and no sugar or creamer offered. The "avocado scramble" seemed to be just a regular scramble with one slice of avocado plopped on the side of the plate. Next year it will be ANYWHERE but here. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at the Blu Water. Came with a party of 4, one person arrived early and ignored by our service. She had to get up and walk to the bar to order a drink. Once we all arrived our server had a horrible attitude but we let it slide and still ordered. Waited for 40 minutes for food (couple burgers, wings and salad.). First things first, the positives. Service was friendly albeit inattentive. The view of Lake Washington, the Bellevue skyline and the Cascades is unbeatable on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The gravy on my chicken fried steak was pretty good and the chocolate chip pancakes were sufficient, even if they were clearly Bisquick. Now for the negatives...the food was laughably bad. Literally. By the time we were done all six of us were cracking up at how bad everything was. Pictured below is the "steak" from my chicken fried steak. It was perfectly gray all the way through. On the bright side, the gray was uniform throughout the meat so I can't actually say it was discolored. One of my companions ordered the steak and eggs. She ordered her steak medium and it arrived to the table still bleeding. To her credit, the waitress immediately recognized the issue and took the steak back to the kitchen. 7-8 minutes later the steak came back with a little more char on the outside, presumably from further cooking. The steak as it arrived the second time is pictured below. I think it's rare? It just looks kind of weird. To be fair, I think the steak is a cheap chuck steak that looks terrible rare or undercooked. We sat down at 12:45p and didn't leave until 2:50p, so not only was the experience bad, it was seemingly interminable to boot! Had a wonderful dinner at BlueWater. The decor reads a little dated inside. However the food was very good. I took off a star because the first two items we tried to order from the menu were not available. However, after we settled on other choices the experience was all uphill. Our waitress was super cheerful and attentive. Our entree choices were the Salmon, generous portion cooked perfectly. The baked chicken with mashed potatoes, the meatloaf plate, special Mac and cheese and the blue cheese pear salad. Our party of 5 were all very happy with the freshness and quality of our meal. We also ordered appetizers and desserts which were also freshly prepared and consistently of good quality. I had not been to the BluWater in years. Someone who was really sweet asks to be moved, but we were almost done eating - seemed like a hassle for them and us! I was already cold and this didn't help! My mimosa was also served in a glass with a chip, the food was on a plate that was broken. Covid hit us hard, but I think we need to get rid of somethings!! I do not get to Leschi much, but they were opened for outside seating with the Coronavirus and am so glad I finally went there. It is nice that there is plenty of parking. As you arrive, it is no surprise that the view is stunning. The outdoor seating is very nice. Service was very good throughout the meal. They have a good selection of wines--I started with a glass of red. For the appetizer, I had the caprese. It was excellent--particularly the tomatoes and the mozzarella were superb. For the main course, I had the salmon. This was served with some salad and potatoes. The salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly, just perfect to eat while looking over the water. The potatoes were great also, with a nice crispy surface--I wish there were more of them. For dessert, I had the smores. I really recommend this--they do bring out this little first that lets you roast your marshmellows. It is a pretty simple dessert I suppose, but really enjoyable. read more

This place is horrible. Prepare to be served overpriced cruise ship food, and that's if you're lucky. My potatoes were somehow both undercooked and burnt. Half of them had roots on the outside, so that tells you they weren't scrubbed properly. Green beans still had about an inch or two of stem on them. Parmesan crusted rock fish was burnt on one side and overcooked. Seared ahi was boiled and gray on the outside, not seared. Covered with a sad swirl of teriyaki and served with a glob of gluey mashed potatoes. EVERYTHING was swimming in grease and short on salt. As for the space itself, it's run down and badly in need of renovations. Yet somehow the dining room was busy on a Monday. Why? There are SO MANY great places to eat in Seattle. The truth is the food here is mostly just okay, but the ambiance of diversity is what really makes this place. It's a great location, and you walk in and immediately feel comfortable. The staff is nice and friendly and seems to have built a friendly rapport with regulars. Really nice place! My friend and I grabbed a quick brunch here on a Saturday around 1pm and it wasn't all that busy. They have a small parking lot beside the restaurant itself, and then theres parking at the park next door. Some street parking available as well. Not sure what the evening parking situation would be like though. We walked in and were seated right away. We could honestly choose wherever we wanted to sit. There was some really pretty seating in the front, outside. Lots of plants around providing some good shade on a hot day. But we instead chose to sit by the water. We had the option to sit either outside on the back deck, or inside. We chose inside. The restaurant had their doors open the whole time so you were still able to experience the warmth, breeze, and smell of the outdoors. So inside was a good choice. Our server was great. I unfortunately have forgotten his name. He did let us know it was only his second brunch shift he had worked, but was very kind to go find out the answers to all of our questions, which I truly appreciated. I got "Joes Scramble". It was great! I changed out my potatoes for their vegetable of the day, which was asparagus, there was no additional fee for this. Really the whole experience was wonderful. Great views, good food, fast and friendly service. It was brunch, so really low key. Fairly busy with a big crowd enjoying (partially lol)the football game, with tv screens throughout the bar area. Lots of choices from the menu as well as the daily specials, requiring return visits. The waiter, Jose, made a great suggestion, of the rockfish instead of the fish n chips, great call!! The rockfish was delicious, slightly breaded, cooked just right, mild and tasty with the capers, with green beans and roasted red potatoes, along with the delicious to tempting not to try Dungeness crab Mac n cheese, fully satisfying the appetite with fish to enjoy later. A nice Reuben hazy to add, was just the ticket. Sunshine, views, and delicious food with great service. Return visits? Yes! Definitely with a drive along the shoreline in the Leschi district. Now mind you I'm not necessarily to into spinach because of the texture but BOY OH BOY it was cooked to perfection and the flavor was sooo good. We had a reservation for a large party and they were having a bit of a time in the beginning then when they did seat us it took a while for our drinks to come. Originally it was about 8 of us and after an hour about 15 people. I would eat her again. The price ranges and appetizers are about $20 and meals $40 and up. read more

Those seats are probably highly requested on nice days in the Spring and Summer so we were happy to snag one. The special that day was the a Dungeness Crab and asparagus quiche. I could not decide between the special and the Dungeness Crab cakes so Iucky enough, my sister was willing to go halfsies with me. It worked out perfectly because we got to try both. The quiche was super light and flakey. Not heavy and dense like you sometimes experience with quiches. The crab cakes were lacking a little bit on the hollandaise but were still very good as well. I also ordered the Frose which was very yummy. Not too sweet and not too tart. When seeing the ratings on this place, I actually was surprised. I would think of it better than a 3 stars. If in the area, give it a try. The only down side is the parking lot will likely be full and you'll have to go hunting for street parking. read more

We've been coming to BluWater for 10+ years and it had become our fav valentines day dinner. Well, after this one we will need to find a new favorite. We made our reservation months in advance, but instead of the east side of the restaurant (with a view that we asked for), we were seated in the bar patio next to the street, under a plastic covered area. Guests were openly complaining about the plastic chairs, blazing hot heaters (or not enough heaters), the wobbly tables, and generally unpleasant conditions. The salmon was undercooked. What's the point of going to a place on Lake Washington to sit next to the street (listening to cars honking) surrounded by unhappy patrons? We felt dupped and left quickly. read more

BluWater is an unfortunate experience of "paying for the view." Beautifully located right on Lake Washington with water views, in the cute stretch of Leschi, it lures you in with promises of excellent food and beautiful ambiance to boot. BUT inside you'll find a dated restaurant with old carpet and overstuffed booths. It's dark, loud, and a bit cramped. Then the food arrives: The bread and olive oil is lackluster - the bread is cold (?). The wine arrives in heavy, clunky glasses. The meals arrive in large portions, on searingly hot plates (which usually means they've been hanging out under a heat lamp for a while), but with minimal enthusiasm. The food is oversalted, possibly to compensate for lack of other flavors. I ordered the parmesan crusted rockfish - the fish tasted 'old' and overcooked. The prime rib was "ok", per my SO, but nothing to write home about. And while the roasted chicken was "fine", it was ordered with the comment from the server that "the chicken will take at least 20 minutes to make, if you're OK with waiting" - not exactly the rousing endorsement we were hoping for. Didn't bother with the dessert list, though we did see someone order the s'mores with a tiny grill at their table. Cute. read more

After seeing a promotion for Mother's Day we made reservations. Making reservations didn't mean anything. We got there and told the hostess we had reservations and she just said go stand over there to the side. She never looked at anything. We waited about 40 minutes. And did get a great seat by the windows. Our server introduced herself and appeared to be high or something. She could barely focus on looking at us. I asked for the mimosa that was part of the special and she had no clue what I was talking about. So of course she charged us for it. The food was almost inedible. The lobster was so overcooked it was like hard rubber. The steak was good but was about 4 bites. The Brussels sprouts were raw. And my daughters Mac and cheese was all Mac and no cheese. I ordered another drink and it came about half full and the rim was a weird mixture of salt and sugar. This place has SO MUCH POTENTIAL!! It's in a million dollar location but definitely needs a remodel! Not just the dark dated decor. But also the staff. This place has the potential to compete with Daniels located next door. Would not go back and wouldn't recommend. Spent $250 for a sub par experience. They get a star for the waitress and the French toast. Otherwise, this experience basically destroyed father's day. We rented a boat for six hours and docked at the restaurant. We arrived for our reservation at 11:30 and ordered by 12 and didn't get our food until about 1PM. I ordered a Bellini which was listed as peach puree, Champagne, and a peach vodka float. They were all out of puree and just assumed it would be cool to drop only champagne mixed with vodka. This was too much and I got a mimosa in exchange. It was not great. When our food did arrive, my partner, the father of the day's food was room temperature at best. He ordered the NY steak and eggs -the special and it was just cold - clearly had been sitting for most of the hour. When he complained, they just threw the medium rare steak back on the grill, nuked the potatoes, and served him a now, well done steak. So he again refused to eat it and then had to ask for the rest of the meal he ordered - a scone that came with the meal, and an english muffin he ordered also. They dropped the muffin off straight out of the package not toasted or warmed. My caprese sandwich was hard and dry, even though I asked for extra balsamic because I love sauce. My daughter asked for an apple juice and it was rang up as a large for nearly $6. Overall, with my partner's meal comped we paid $156 for four adults meals and it took over two hours. We aren't cheap but if it costs that much, it should be at least hot or not take over an hour. Too many issues, clearly not a one off fluke but a way of doing business. We barely had time to enjoy the rest of our boat rental and we were still pretty hungry. Skip the Bluwater and just have some charcuterie and cheap champagne on the boat instead. We aren't rich. I dipped into my savings for this so we won't be able to do this again anytime soon. read more

No exaggeration when I say this is the worst brunch I've ever had. We came for a Mother's Day Brunch that we had four mothers in attendance for. From the moment we entered, it was clear it was over booked. It took over 30 minutes to receive basics like coffee after multiple reminders to our waitress and she seemed to constantly forget about our table. When ordering, we found out that the brunch menu had been severely reduced because they had taken over 800 reservations for that day, which explained the delayed service. It took over an hour to get our food, and when we received it, my food was burnt and ice cold from sitting too long. I asked them to fix it; which they did by placing it into a microwave. It was not a great start to my Mother's Day. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

When I got it I ate the first one and it was ok... if you like thick mayo hollandise like consistency. I proceeded to eat my second one and noticed a very burnt taste, so burnt it was hard to swallow (that's what she said). I asked for more coffee and it never came out because it was still brewing, our server was not very nice and wasn't accommodating to our group. When our foods came out she struggled to know what we ordered. My friends eggs Benedict was fully cooked and not runny.... are you even a chef? Here is where you find the most diverse group of staffs, and lovers for classic cars! 2016: Despite of the super annoying loud and rude football fans, whom constantly yell, my server J was wonderful and insightful. I ordered a blue cheese salad with wild king salmon. The salad was pretty much a Dr.Serbi Alkaline salad: mixed green, nuts, fruits, and fish...minus the diary and a few things. It was well played. The pear was sliced really thin and spread out like a flower. The medium rare salmon is moist and soft and has nice grilled mark on them. Overall, I really enjoy the salad like most items I have eaten here over the years. Thirty min until happy hour at 10 PM, and I wish I can stay, but I do have to get home to Starcraft 2. I do hope these football fans go seek AA meeting and therapy for there binge drinking and screaming, no fault to this beautiful restaurant on the water with candle lamp on your table, and they also have fresh flowers! Sunday brunch is the best time to come with your family, but wait until the football season is over to avoid the super loud people that ruin the ambience and the scenery this place have to offer. We are visiting from out of town and wanted something after exploring on the way back to our Airbnb. We originally came for a different restaurant but stopped when we saw they had happy hour. First off- they were doing construction and it was VERY loud. The hostess let us know about that and said that we could eat on the patio where it would be quieter. Not a problem- we're loving the weather (we're from Florida, so it's perfect weather). It was great until the last 15 minutes when they started doing construction on the patio ‍ Our waiter (who was actually the bartender I think?!?) came immediately and dropped off waters but didn't introduce himself or anything. It was bizarre. When he came back later, I asked about the happy hour, and she said there wasn't any. Super disappointing. But alas we still ordered. I got the clam chowder and the pear and Gorgonzola pasta. Both were very good. Hubby got a pizza- he enjoyed it as well. We found it weird that they brought out the entrees at separate times... but oh well. Last- my pasta was advertised as $19.50 on the menu and I was charged $20.50. We were just over it by that point. It was a perfect weather evening in Seattle and on Lake Washington. this was our first dinner out as a close friends group - and we were lucky to get a nice corner table in the breezy indoors. the boat parking was awesome. we really enjoyed the fresh sheet and had a nice cheeseboard to start off with. the beer and wine selection was pretty good as well. the entrees met all expectations, and even accommodated a garlic allergy. the service was pretty good, however, we noticed after we left that we were charged for a bowl of clam chowder we didn't receive. this place was on our list for summer eating and we are glad we went. just watch your bill to make sure you are correctly charged. read more
