Called 5 times today and no one picked up. How am I supposed to pay my insurance policy if no one answers the phone? I asked about a quote to add my fiancé to my plan about three months ago and at the time the rate was too high for me. Called them two weeks ago to get a quote again and was told my agent was away but he would get back to me tomorrow. Tomorrow never happened. Emailed Eric two more times after that asking for a quote because my fiancé just paid off his car and wants to find new insurance - again, nothing. I have documentation of the emails and phone calls, so when they tell me they "never got my message" I seriously have no idea how that can be. Hello yelpers, first off been using this broker for about 6 years. Thank God I switched up but not before all those hidden fees that I overlooked when reading through my 15page agreement hit me as a nice goodbye. Oscar was nice enough to not charge a broker fee on the last policy I had which I only used for about 15 days. I was charged 600$ for a 6 month policy and after I quoted elsewhere ( think any big name ) left Bmp I was told that I would see some loss in funds. Okay fair enough. I am getting just over 325$ back. Wow! I called Oscar and he explained all the reasons he sleeps okay at night. Don't be fooled, lazy and scared to look elsewhere these guys are not your friends. Aside from pure financial savings, I even received a hand-written thank you card in the mail a few weeks after working with them, which is infinitely more courtesy than I typically experience in the Los Angeles dating (cess)pool. Cole was awesome. He and the underwriter got me a fabulous deal and now I'm saving close to $1000/year on my car insurance policy. Their office is really casual (Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ninja Code of Ethics posters adorn the walls) but they get the job done. Allow me to start by saying that as I was filling out the initial forms, I read a little section that told me I would save $10 on my down payment if I checked in on Yelp RIGHT THEN. Eff yeah, BMP. That's what's up. Ok, but to backtrack. This guy Dennis sold me a car. He told me to go see Ben at BMP (Ben's initials). I was skeptical, but whatev. Insurance was a requirement of taking my new used car off the lot, so I basically had no choice. I called Geico on the way, just to see what they could offer. $130/month is what they had to give. I walked in to BMP to a slightly odd scene. Six friendly 30-something gentlemen looked up in unison. The room went silent. I announced my presence and took a seat. An odd beginning. Eventually I was whisked into Ben's office, complete with tiny amphibians, swimming merrily about their tiny enclosure. I approved of BMP's animal representative of choice. He took down a few statistics, then shot me a quote. Bam- $97/month, and that's with that one itsy bitsy little point on my record that I had conveniently forgotten about. Note that for many reasons, I have never actually paid for car insurance, so I actually don't know what other people pay-- though I do know that I called the lizard and the lizard said I would be paying upwards of $2k/year (before running my driving record), and this guy quoted me about $1k less. Well, it is renewal time for the insurance policies in our household. So, it was time to make sure that we were in the policy that we should have. We were referred to BMP Insurance. BMP is a locally owned insurance brokerage on the south side of Venice Blvd., just east of Motor Avenue. They have a huge office on the second floor (above the Indian restaurant). We easily found a parking spot because it was before the dinner rush and after many other businesses in the little shopping center had closed for the day. (It was just after 6PM on a Friday evening.) Rob took a look at our current Declarations pages for auto and homeowners and started running the numbers. BMP works with about 40 insurance companies, and they use their resources to come up with the best quote possible. In meeting with Rob, we learned that a visit to the office is not necessary. We could have called with our information, and he could have run a quote over the phone. You might be asking, but what about signing on the dotted line? No problem! They can email all of the documents to you for your electronic signature. Super convenient! Love it! Rob and the other agents at BMP are super friendly, and the office is very chill. And, I have major respect for these agents. They told me that I was best off where I was... If you are looking for honesty and integrity in an insurance brokerage, you should check these guys out. read more

We recently moved to LA from Oregon, and when our auto insurance finally ran out I had to purchase auto insurance down here. I was in complete sticker shock after getting a couple of phone quotes - insurance for our little Toyota pickup was over three times as expensive in California as it was in Oregon! All of the big, heavily-advertised companies seemed to be the worst. Flustered, I began randomly calling insurance companies within a couple of miles of our apartment for insurance quotes - some would call back, some wouldn't. By chance, I called BMP Insurance. After leaving a message at BMP, I got a call back from them and began the quote process. I was surprised to hear how much cheaper they were, and decided to drop in to verify what I'd heard. My agent, Ben, was professional and spelled things out clearly for me. To make a long story short, our insurance was still going to be more expensive than Oregon but considerably less than I found from other companies. Before I finally signed over with them, I received a call from one of the big, heavily-advertised companies that I had gotten an online quote from. After he re-quoted the figure I received online, he said, "That's pretty good, that's about the best you'll get". Yeah right. Seriously, give BMP a call, I'm sure you'll save a few bucks. P.S. This business is within walking distance of where I live and it was time for a new Auto policy. I sent an email and bought the yelp deal certificate after reading the great reviews. Ben called me within 20 minutes of sending the email and we made an appointment. The office is busy and very organized. Normally, I hate shopping insurance. I've dealt with shady brokers who don't really know what they're doing and try to up sell. I told Ben about my last experience where my rate went up 25% after the last time I used a broker and that I found out much later that my deductible was $1000 when I had signed up for a $500 deductible. He explained to me that the broker had sold me a quote, rather than a rate and that is apparently a common practice. He also assured me that he sells a rate, not a quote so there are no later surprises. Nice. In the end, I walked out with a policy that I feel comfortable with after he explained all of the different coverages and gave me options. I ended up with a good rate and deductible that I feel comfortable with, not too expensive and not too good to be true. I look forward to being a long time customer. read more

Ups and downs of course I would go elsewhere after understanding I could get a better deal looking around on my own. 160$ in fees on my last policy. Called a big name and that was half a six month policy for 2 people for liability with 2 tickets on one driver. Not the worst but in my opinion not the best Small update they took 30days to refund services unused. Seriously and it is over 300$. I'm not made of money. read more

Really, really solid. Found them, really, when they responded to an inquiry I put in for auto insurance on another site. What caught my eye is that in the email, it said, "right down the street!", meaning, someone had actually looked to see what the distance was between my place and the shop, and that it wasn't just an automated robot response. That, and the quote was pretty good. Isaac Huizar is awesome... he's been underwriting for a while, and it's nice, FINALLY, as I'm sure we can all attest, to talk to the actual PERSON face to face who can make the decision about your rate, and work it around for the lowest. I can tell you that I looked around, and Isaac still gave me the best rate. It shows that he knows what he's doing, and knows the "tricks" to get you the lower rate. I don't have a perfect driving record, but they have some way where they can make it happen for a super low rate. $65 a month for liability with my not so perfect (more than 2 points) record.... holler. Then, I came back to actually pay them, and although the insurance company wanted more, the owner, Ben Pappas, CALLED IN, argued, and made it happen. Partial refund, in cash, less than two weeks later. The man owns the place, and knows what he's doing. Highly recommended. read more

Hmmm...what to say about BMP Insurance. Well, they do low ball on the quote. Originally they quoted me around $70 per month on my auto insurance. I believe every quote that you'll end up getting will low ball at first until they know the details of your driving record, etc. In the end my total came out to be about $87 per month for auto insurance which is less than what I was paying in Michigan. They were professional in their approach. I've come to know Ben, the owner just from dropping in from time to time. He's a great guy. Everyone is very helpful there and you will honestly get a great price for any insurance you might be looking for. In fact, I've sent a few of my friends their way and they saved quite a bit as well. At first, everything seems fine. My sister and I are in the policy together and I am the main policy holder. I called BMP Insurance to ask if I can be taken off of the policy since I am not going to be driving for a couple of months thinking that my monthly rate will go down. The insurance agent said that he will call me back as he doesn't know if he can do that or not. So he called Safeco (the insurance provider) and called me back. When he called me back, basically he informed me that I was officially off the policy and the policy rate will go up. He did all that without my approval whatsoever. Now, I need a new policy and they haven't been helpful either. No body calls me to follow up or anything like that. Basically, I am dropped after they increase my insurance policy. Overall, absolutely appalled by this gentlemen's ability to handle a simple situation. Save yourself some time and skip BMP Insurance. Don't waste your time like how I wasted mine. This morning, I found out my policy had been cancelled due to nonpayment. Granted, this was my bad (another family member was responsible for getting it paid, even though it was under my name) however, they never mailed, emailed, or called me about the lapses in payment. I've been driving with no insurance for two weeks and had to find out via a notice from the DMV that my registration was pending suspension. I'm currently in the process of getting quotes from other agencies and will be filing in small claims to recover the amount I had to pay down to reinstate the policy with Safeco. CVC 633.c Requires notification of intent to terminate an auto insurance policy that meets requirements for coverage - which they failed to do. These guys will give you the best rate out there! With the economy as it has been, I have been trying to cut back and save money wherever possible. After reviewing my bills and realizing that my auto policy was about to expire, I decided to see if I could get a better deal on my auto and renter's insurance. I had heard about BMP from a friend and decided to give them a shot in quoting me a rate. I have to be honest, I had a great experience with my previous provider, Esurance, and found both my auto and renters insurance rates to be very reasonable. I was not eager to change plans, unless I received significant savings, of course. That being said, I really wasn't expecting BMP to be able to come back with a quote significant enough to make me change providers. Was I wrong.... My agent at BMP quoted me a savings of $49/month between auto and renter's! That's $588 in savings per year! I can't stress enough that I had ALREADY had very good rate with my previous provider, so this new rate they had quoted me was pretty incredible. Awful service. Eric had originally got me a decent policy. But after a few years I called in to get higher coverage on my vehicle so I could drive my children on school field trips. Eric talked me into a policy more then double in price. That was fine except that I paid $1800 for that policy and I was still being charged monthly by the previous insurer. Eric didn't respond so I called the previous company and canceled. I was not refunded the full amount. I put in many calls to Eric and received no help. I finally called the new insurance company and they discovered Eric had accidentally cancelled that policy the day I had paid for it. So my insurance lapsed and caused me much stress. Eric still has not returned my calls. I will be filing a complaint against his license. read more

I've had insurance for years through this company for Mercury Insurance. Never needed to use it either, just paying about 1k a year for doing nothing but keeping me legal. Unfortunately, at some point just before my insurance was set to renew, something happened (I can't even tell you what, because I've yet to receive any explanation from these guys or Mercury) that caused my insurance to be terminated by Mercury. After calling Mercury to try and figure out what was going on, I was told that they didn't handle it and there was nothing that they could do. That I'd have to contact BMP insurance, as that was my insurance agent. They were able to notify me that my insurance was going to be terminated, but for some odd reason they weren't able to tell me why. So I called BMP insurance in the morning after they opened. I got their voicemail and left one, notifying them that I was a client of theirs, and was trying to figure out why my insurance (that I've had for years) was terminated. That was earlier this week and I've still yet to hear from them. Instead, I looked around and decided to go with AIS who gave me a MUCH lower deal on progressive insurance (With better coverage mind you). These idiots just lost out on an easy 1k/year just because they chose not to contact me. At all. Before or after my loss of coverage. I will not be doing business with them again. read more

I signed up with this company when I first moved to California. During the first meeting they were extremely helpful and got me a great price for insurance for my car and apartment. When the policy ended, I was unaware (I know it's my fault for not knowing when it ended), but BMP did not email, call or try to renew the policy. When I got a threat directly from the company, I called BMP to change the credit card associated with my account, but they didn't call me back....EVER!
