Ok $21 for bo ne, a salad, and some hot tea? Sold! This place is inside a food court with lots of other vietnamese food that is worth a try but I wanted the bo ne and it did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and was sizzling hot. The wait was not long and from the looks of it, tons of others were ordering it as well. If you're in the mood for some steak and eggs for breakfast - this is the place!
Never had this dish before but it was very good! With all the butter, it tasted very rich and a bit too greasy. We waited 2 hours to order and get our food. I would come back during non busy hours next time
This is the spot I go to whenever I get that craving for that authentic Bo Ne from Vietnam. The steak is perfectly cooked (medium rare is the way to go), and the combination of the fried egg, pâté, and light, crispy bread is just so good. The bread is perfect for soaking up all those delicious juices. It's cash only, but they're pretty quick with the turnaround, so you won't have to wait long for your food. They'll give you a buzzer, so you can walk around and explore the area while you wait. The restaurant is located in a food court in Lion plaza that I've been going to as a kid, and the whole area has a nice, casual, family-friendly vibe.
Wow, a childhood craving fulfilled. This place offers a great bang for your buck. I have actually been eyeing this place for a while and recently got to try it, with no regrets! It is located in the lion plaza's food court on Tully rd and has ample parking if you decide to swing by. As a heads up, this place is cash only so make sure you are fully prepared! My partner and I ordered 2 sets each and overall it took around 15 minutes to get our order. They prepare it at the time of ordering so it is fresh and sizzling when it comes out. Since it's located in a food court, the dining space is shared. They do give you a ringer so you know when your food is good to go. My first impression was that this plate did not disappoint. It was a generous portion of meat, a good distribution of pate, egg, and butter. I love how they had the pickled vegetables at the side as palate cleanser. They also give you a hefty fluffy baguette to dip into the sauces. All combined was perfection. Lately I notice a lot of higher end spots are serving Bo ne and charging upwards to $35-$45 for a plate, but this spot proves that you can still get the classics at a reasonable price ($20)! I would even argue it might be one of the best Bo ne's in the Bay Area. Come support this local spot!
I have had this beef plate at so many other restaurants but nothing compares. It's so yummy and flavorful! I'm even thinking of it right now T-T I need to go back ASAP! They are cash only and it is $21 even. It's quite busy and they take their time with each order. A line quickly forms since they can only take a certain amount of orders at once. I love that she gave me an extra egg since I didn't want the salad :) This location is in a food court which is quite busy on the weekends so finding a seat can be a bit difficult. I found a table when people were leaving and it's quite clean since there is a busser. It took awhile for me to get my order around 20-25 mins. I got my meat medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It was so soft and the eggs in butter was melting in my mouth. I love that tea is offered with each order as well!

They're a cash only place so make sure you have that on you. If not, they also have an ATM in the food court. As of April 2026, they're $21 a plate. I ordered two plates of bo ne with the meat cooked to medium rare. My bf and I loved it! The bread is very fluffy and soft. The ingredients and flavors on the sizzling plate are delicious and fulfilling. The meat was pretty much cooked to medium rare with some pieces that were a little more overdone, but that's attributed to the meat continuing to cook as we ate. The dish is pretty hefty so it's very fulfilling. It's good that there's a side salad...for health haha. My bf and I will definitely come back in the future!

Note that it will always be a 20-30 min wait. 20 min or less when it's not busy and 30 min when it is busy. It is located in a fairly small food court so be prepared to camp out for a table if you come during peak hours. The staff is nice and I have never had a bad experience. The people cleaning up the tables in the food court are also kind! One time, they saw I was waiting a while for a table to open up and they rushed to save me a table before someone else could take it.
As far as bo ne options come, there are quite a few options in the Bay Area! I would recommend this place if you want a casual food court meal, but it doesn't sacrifice the quality and flavor! Perfectly medium steak sliced into 5-6 pieces. A fried egg, baguette, salad, and meatball to balance it all together. Not too salty. ALSOOOO cash only! $20.00 flat. It was ready in 10 minutes. This is probably my favorite of the several Bay Area options, but Breaking Dawn and Tan Dinh Cafe are really strong competitors. I would recommend you try all three, but Bo Ne Phu Yen is definitely a must try in Lion Food Court!

It takes a while to cook and depending on how many orders are before yours, it could take 20-30+ min. So, don't expect your food to come up fast. I was sharing a table with other local patrons who ordered the same dish as I did. They both have had this dish countless of times and agreed that this place is "considered the best in town!" "This is the closest taste to back home, in Vietnam". He sold me as I eagerly awaited for my bo ne! The entree comes with house salad with a simple vinegar dressing and hot tea. The bread was warm yet amazingly very soft! The filet was tender. The pate was so good. Every bite I took made made me smile. It was worth the wait. I think I found a favorite new place. Come here all the time and owner is a great guy and food taste good. Unfortunately on Monday this was the first thing I ate and I got food poison an hour later. Really disappointed

First time trying this spot and it won't be my last. You get plenty to enjoy for $21--juicy steak, savory pate, fried egg, fluffy bread, lightly-dressed salad, and a cup of hot tea. Service was prompt; only had to wait about 10 minutes for my cooked-to-order meal. Seating is food-court style; bare bones but clean, with many large tables to choose from. If you want something more flavorful than the basic tea they give you to drink, you can order something else from the separate stall next door. First time here and it was a whole vibe. Lowkey hard to find in that big shopping center, but once you get there it's worth it. Food looked fire and actually tasted even better. Steak, over-easy egg, meatball, French roll... like street food but leveled up. And the cook? Solid dude, good energy, made it feel welcoming. I'm impressed. I'll be back for sure. read more

You can't really go wrong with bo ne and it was great that there was a salad that came with it. There was also tea included in the set as well. The meat was cooked well and the meatball was a great addition, a lot of pate as well! This spot was located in the food court of the plaza so it could be a bit hard to find a table on a busy weekend. read more

This place has been on my list for a while. But I heard the lines and wait were long. Today was the day I felt I could handle both. The line went fast. I believe it's cash only and I panicked with my $12 in my hand, but found a couple of twenties in my wallet. It was $20 and a 35 minute wait for the food. When we got our food, our tray was PACKED. Salad, tea, bread, and of course the bo ne. It was delicious! The xiu mai was a little salty for me, but I loved the pate and the steak. I'd come back for this, but maybe at their *NEW* location once it opens (Vietnamtown). For seating, it's a little rough at Call Me Dragon. Iykyk, amirite? (Super late review, went here Feb 2024) My sister and friends from Dallas Tx came to visit and wanted to try some Viet breakfast food. I've been wanting to try this place so this was the time to try with everyone. It's in a food court in a Vietnamese plaza. I wanna say it's cash only, either way just bring cash. It's 20 bucks per plate. We went on a weekday morning so it wasn't packed at all, and the food court was very quiet lol. The plates were quickly made by an uncle aged gentleman and the woman handled the money and orders. The plates were all sizzling, and the eggs are all sunny side up, if you like your eggs more done, the hot plate will eventually get it cooked thru. This dish is made for runny yokes, so I wouldn't recommend waiting to your yokes to be cooked thru. The banh mi (baguette) was fresh and warm, had the perfect crunch and crisp. The plates come with a meat ball, beef, and pâté. There's a side salad and a full baguette. The proteins to me could be flavored a bit more, they tasted one note. Otherwise, the experience and food as a whole was decent. Bottom line: Good to try out at least once. read more

This was the best sizzling plate i've ever had. But I digress. I came with my fiancé looking for a lunch to split. There is no real service you just order a plate and take it to a seat. This restaurant is located inside of a very small food court. There is seating but it took a long while to find a table. The court is reminiscent of a hawker stall in Singapore, very quaint. Seems like a family owned restaurant too. For $20 in cash only you get egg runny with sauce, pate, cubed filet mignon, amazing baguette, and some veggies. the beef- amazing and super tender and soft. The pate is also standout and very flavorful. The bread, a surprising star, is both soft, and crispy (I don't know how they did it). We waited an hour but it was incredible. Great hole in the wall establishment that is cash only. This place was pretty hard to find; located within Lion market plaza, you walk through some unassuming looking arches on the left side of the market that leads you to a small corner of stores. There is a sign for a ballet school that does not lead to a ballet store and instead leads you to a small food court with some tables located inside! Service was minimal but efficient. The main dish was a flat $20 and we got medium rare for the steak. It came with a side salad and tea as well. The food was delicious; meat was tender and juicy, the sauce was flavorful, and the baguette was well toasted and plentiful. Portions were generous. I highly recommend trying this place! read more

The Bo Ne here is so delicious and the steak is so soft and tender. It's a solid 10/10. Service was a bit slow because there were so many people but we were willing to wait. Well deserved. I had this hidden gem bookmarked for the longest time. I finally tried it on an early weekend! My boyfriend and I ordered one sizzling steak (medium rare) plate to share. It was a flat $20. The meal was enough for the two of us. The meal came with a cup of hot tea, a side salad, a large baguette and a sizzling steak plate (with eggs, meatball, pate and some onions/herbs). Oh, a side of soy sauce and chilli oil was also provided. The food was delicious! To be honest, I haven't tried a lot of Bo Ne anywhere but this spot may have set some high standards for me. Located in a mall food court type place, I knew it was gonna be good because I did not see a menu at all, just signs on their section of the food court for "shaken beef" and "Bo Ne for $20". Not sure if they take card, but if you pay in cash it is exactly $20. The food comes out sizzling on that hot plate. We asked for medium rare, and the meat came out more rare than expected, probably to compensate for the sizzling hot plate. The meat was so tender and buttery and juicy, the bread soft and perfect for soaking up the juices, and the salad was quite refreshing. I gobbled the whole thing up and was in a food coma for the next couple hours. Seating is food court style - a bunch of tables in the middle of all the restaurants. Parking wasn't hard on a weekday lunch - there's a lot for all the shops in the area, although I could see it getting crowded on weekday meals. read more

Love their Bo ne!! I love that they actually cook your steak to the preferred wellness. The steak, bread, and pate are all so yummy on their own but put everything together and it is absolutely divine. Very solid, no frills spot. The only inconvenience is since it's located in a food court, you have to find your own table which is hard during peak dining hours. People are generally courteous and will leave after eating for quick turnover though. Highly recommend coming early or late to avoid peak lunch time. read more
Came in on Thanksgiving day since friends came all the way from Irvine. It was my first time here and a tip for first timer is to bring cash. Seats are limited since there are many other spots inside the same areas so it's like a food court. Can get busy and you might not be able to find seatings but the star of the day is still this dish. Warm and cozy. It's just so heartwarming trying one of the classic Vietnamese brunch dish. A must to revisit!!! read more
Wow omg the bo ne here was SO GOOD I can't stop thinking about it. This took me back to the bo ne I had in Vietnam. It's probably good that I discovered this place after moving out of SJ otherwise I would have been there too often. Everything about the dish was amazing, so flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The only downside is that they're serving 1 egg per dish instead of 2 due to the egg shortage. It's located in a food court with a bunch of other great options so you could try small bites while waiting. It's cash only $20. Expect to wait at least 20-30 mins especially during peak hours but so worth it. Literally so yummy I'll be back. read more
I was driving by San Jose and dropped by the food court for some breakfast. It was pretty empty Friday morning around 10 am when I arrived. I immediately walked over to the Bo Ne Phe Yen stall. I looked around and there's no menu posted anywhere, so I guess the main thing people get here is bo ne? They were also advertising bo luc lac, but that's the only other food item I saw mentioned. For $20 cash, you can get a plate of sizzling filet mignon slices (cooked to your desired level), a meatball, pate, and egg. Right now because of the egg shortage, they're only giving one egg per order. On the side is also a fresh baguette, salad, and a cup of tea. Because I was the only one ordering from them and I asked for my steak to be cooked rare, my food was done in minutes! It was definitely a heavier breakfast than I'm used to, but I really enjoyed it. The baguette was super fresh and paired well with all the meats. My favorite was actually the pate, which was super flavorful, but everything on the plate was delicious. Too bad I don't live closer, otherwise I'd definitely come back soon! read more

Really yummy food with a long wait depending on when you arrive. 10m in line to order, 35m to pickup food. Restaurant was a bit harder to find as well as it is located behind the main street in an unlabeled food hall. Seating is a bit difficult due to the popularity of the restaurants in the plaza so although we walked around to explore/try other foods, it did take time to find seating as well. Due to egg shortage, the bo ne comes with one egg but overall is still very filling! Really tender beef and everything was so flavMy husband made his into a sandwich but most people tear pieces off the bread to dip/make smaller custom bites. also appreciated how the bo ne skillet was cow shaped, nice attention to detail. read more
