Never had this dish before but it was very good! With all the butter, it tasted very rich and a bit too greasy. We waited 2 hours to order and get our food. I would come back during non busy hours next time

I have had this beef plate at so many other restaurants but nothing compares. It's so yummy and flavorful! I'm even thinking of it right now T-T I need to go back ASAP! They are cash only and it is $21 even. It's quite busy and they take their time with each order. A line quickly forms since they can only take a certain amount of orders at once. I love that she gave me an extra egg since I didn't want the salad :) This location is in a food court which is quite busy on the weekends so finding a seat can be a bit difficult. I found a table when people were leaving and it's quite clean since there is a busser. It took awhile for me to get my order around 20-25 mins. I got my meat medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. It was so soft and the eggs in butter was melting in my mouth. I love that tea is offered with each order as well!

I took my bf here because he wanted to try bo ne. People always tell me this is the place for that, and there's a reason why they are so popular. The restaurant is located in the food court in the Lion Plaza. We went a little after noon on a Saturday and luckily there wasn't a lot of people in line. They're a cash only place so make sure you have that on you. If not, they also have an ATM in the food court. As of April 2026, they're $21 a plate. I ordered two plates of bo ne with the meat cooked to medium rare. My bf and I loved it! The bread is very fluffy and soft. The ingredients and flavors on the sizzling plate are delicious and fulfilling. The meat was pretty much cooked to medium rare with some pieces that were a little more overdone, but that's attributed to the meat continuing to cook as we ate. The dish is pretty hefty so it's very fulfilling. It's good that there's a side salad...for health haha. My bf and I will definitely come back in the future!

I don't crave bo ne often, but when I do, this place always hits! It is perfectly savory and slightly sweet. It is also mandatory to get the sugarcane juice next to the stand as well. Note that it will always be a 20-30 min wait. 20 min or less when it's not busy and 30 min when it is busy. It is located in a fairly small food court so be prepared to camp out for a table if you come during peak hours. The staff is nice and I have never had a bad experience. The people cleaning up the tables in the food court are also kind! One time, they saw I was waiting a while for a table to open up and they rushed to save me a table before someone else could take it.

As far as bo ne options come, there are quite a few options in the Bay Area! I would recommend this place if you want a casual food court meal, but it doesn't sacrifice the quality and flavor! Perfectly medium steak sliced into 5-6 pieces. A fried egg, baguette, salad, and meatball to balance it all together. Not too salty. ALSOOOO cash only! $20.00 flat. It was ready in 10 minutes. This is probably my favorite of the several Bay Area options, but Breaking Dawn and Tan Dinh Cafe are really strong competitors. I would recommend you try all three, but Bo Ne Phu Yen is definitely a must try in Lion Food Court!

Bo Ne Phu Yen is located in the Lion Plaza Food Court area. The food court was busy during lunch time on a Saturday. CASH ONLY establishment. Code for the restroom is located at each food stall. I ordered their Bo Ne $20. Steak is cooked to order, sunny side up fried egg, pork meatball, pate, and French roll on a sizzling platter. It takes a while to cook and depending on how many orders are before yours, it could take 20-30+ min. So, don't expect your food to come up fast. I was sharing a table with other local patrons who ordered the same dish as I did. They both have had this dish countless of times and agreed that this place is "considered the best in town!" "This is the closest taste to back home, in Vietnam". He sold me as I eagerly awaited for my bo ne! The entree comes with house salad with a simple vinegar dressing and hot tea. The bread was warm yet amazingly very soft! The filet was tender. The pate was so good. Every bite I took made made me smile. It was worth the wait. I think I found a favorite new place. Support your local business.

First time here and it was a whole vibe. Lowkey hard to find in that big shopping center, but once you get there it's worth it. Food looked fire and actually tasted even better. Steak, over-easy egg, meatball, French roll... like street food but leveled up. And the cook? Solid dude, good energy, made it feel welcoming. I'm impressed. I'll be back for sure.

Come here all the time and owner is a great guy and food taste good. Unfortunately on Monday this was the first thing I ate and I got food poison an hour later. Really disappointed

I believe this is the OG spot for Bo Ne, a steak and egg breakfast dish from Vietnam. I have had r elsewhere in little Saigon San Jose bbut this place is good. Cash only. b$20 at the time of this review.Steak is perfectly cooked the way you want it. Staff ask you how well you like your steak. I ordered Medium and got Medium, steak was perfectly tender and easily chewable. Egg still runny when I picked up my order. You order at the stall and the staff hand you a numbered buzzer once your order is ready. Bo ne is served with a cup of tea but you can pick up boba next door.Perfectly carmelized onions, sizzling pplate, a bagette. So good. The place is located deep inside the Lion Market Plaza ion the food court. You leave your platter at the table once done and the cleaning staff will clear the table and return the finsihed platter to the stall. I will be back to try the other stalls in the plaza.

Bò Né Phú Yên is my favorite spot for Bò Né in San Jose. Bò Né is one of my all-time favorite Vietnamese dishes, and this place truly does it right every single time. The restaurant is tucked inside the Lion Plaza food court, and while it's small and unassuming, it's always packed with people who know how good it is. There's almost always a wait, but honestly it's worth every minute. The dish comes out sizzling on a hot plate, loaded with slices of tender steak, a sunny-side-up egg, rich pâté, and a flavorful meatball. On the side, you get a fresh baguette and a crisp salad that perfectly balances out the richness of the meat. I usually ask for my steak medium well, though I've also tried medium before and medium well is my favorite. I really appreciate how the owners always take the time to get your order just the way you like it. Everything tastes so fresh, from the juicy steak to the buttery pâté that's not overly salty like some other places. What makes this spot even more special is the consistency. No matter when I go, the food is always cooked perfectly, and the flavors are always spot-on. Every time I'm at Lion Plaza, I tell myself I should try something new from the other food court stalls but I can never resist coming back to Bò Né Phú Yên. It's that good. The sizzling plate, the delicious steak, the crisp bread soaking up all the flavors it's pure comfort food done right. If you're craving an authentic, satisfying Vietnamese meal, this place is a must-try. It never disappoints!

I don't like the way they used to serve 2 eggs, then reduced to 1 egg because egg prices surged at that time. Now 18 eggs only cost $3 explain why you still serve 1 egg? And also, it's a cash only business, and the cashier lady was rude af

You can't really go wrong with bo ne and it was great that there was a salad that came with it. There was also tea included in the set as well. The meat was cooked well and the meatball was a great addition, a lot of pate as well! This spot was located in the food court of the plaza so it could be a bit hard to find a table on a busy weekend.

If you're craving a hearty Vietnamese breakfast or brunch, Bò Né Phú Yên is the spot to check out. I came here for their Sizzling Vietnamese Steak & Eggs ($20), and it did not disappoint. The plate comes out piping hot with filet mignon, two sunny-side-up eggs, pâté, and a meatball. This is all served on a sizzling iron plate. On the side, you get a crispy baguette, fresh salad, and even a cup of hot tea. It's a complete meal that's both flavorful and satisfying. Tina's Tips: - This place is cash only, so make sure to bring some bills. - Tables are first come, first serve--so if you see one opening up, grab it quickly! - I waited about 10 minutes around 11am, which wasn't bad at all. The vibe is casual and bustling, with the sizzling plates filling the room with delicious aromas. It's definitely worth a visit whether you're starting your day or enjoying a late brunch. I'll be back again to try more from the menu! I recommend coming here with the whole family.

Bo ne without the salad because I gave it to my husband.

Ask the Community - Bo Ne Phu Yen

I know this is a beef place, but do they have other meat offerings, like pork?

No, I believe it's only beef in their Bo ne dish or Bo luc lac dish -- or chicken wings. I don't see any pork on their menu.

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

It's a grilled tumeric fish dish that packs a ton of flavor, and you add noodles and herbs to make a delish spring roll (or in my case a fat burrito). It comes out on a sizzling plate so you have to let it cook a bit to render the onions and dill to get that perfect texture. The sauce might be a bit fishy to some, but it's what ties the bite together! It's def an acquired taste, but if you are open to trying new things, please come try this speciality dish. Tip: on Wednesdays, this dish is only $28, whereas the OG price is around $36. The fried rice here was surprisingly super flavorful! If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience.
