Comes with veggie platter and rice paper. Definitely enough for 2 people. We got the Chicken Cartilege thinking we needed it, but I think the fish by itself would have been fine. Everything was delicious! The Rose Lychee Pomegranate Tea came out just like the picture, very pretty and refreshing with a heavy meal. The flavor has lots of floral notes. You won't find PHO here... LOL... but, you will find a flavorful spot for sea snails, clams, etc. We ordered the Banh Beo (steamed rice cakes). The nuoc mum sauce was too salty for our taste. The ambiance was tropical and nature-inspired with bamboo and wood furnishings. Service was friendly and efficient, with each dish coming out promptly. ***OUR PICKS*** GÒI XOĀI TÔM KHÔ ~ Shredded green mango with dry shrimp and carrot in fish sauce with prawn crackers. This one gets your appetite going with a zesty and spicy dressing! The dry shrimp was a bit hard to chew, though. Boiled shrimp would have been better, but it was still a tasty starter. 4/5 BĀNH HÒI TÔM THIT NUŌC KHÔ ~ Fine Rice Vermicelli With BBQ Pork and Shrimp. A sizable platter with all the fixings, including rice papers and warm water to make your own spring rolls. The catfish was fried till most of the bones were crunchy and edible, while the bigger bones were easily removed. The fish was an impressive size, prepared well, and it was tender. I've been to Saigon Kitchen every now and then, but this review is specifically for their Cơm Gia Đình $12.95 promotion. My bestie has been wanting to try braised claypot fish for a while, and she trusted me to take her to a good Vietnamese spot. Since we were already cruising around Vietnam Town the whole day, Saigon Kitchen felt like the perfect place for an early dinner. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy so we got seated right away by the window. The restaurant is actually quite spacious, and the interior has a nice mix of hometown Vietnamese vibes with a slightly modern twist. They also use matching bowls, plates, and utensils with their restaurant name on it, which gives it a more upscale feel. Our server introduced us to their Cơm Gia Đình promotion--$12.95 per dish, and it includes rice. We ended up ordering: Cá Bông Lau Kho Tộ (Braised Catfish in Claypot) Sườn Non Kho Tộ (Braised Pork Ribs in Claypot) Canh Chua Cá Bớp (Vietnamese Hot & Sour Cobia Soup) and side order of Cánh Gà Chiên Bơ (Butter Garlic Chicken Wings) for the regular menu appetizer. First of all, the portion sizes are HUGE. This is a full-on dinner plate with rice included and they did NOT cheap out at all even with the promo price. Honestly such a steal in this economy. Flavor-wise, everything from the promotion menu was well-balanced with that sweet, salty, umami combo you expect from Vietnamese comfort food. Not the absolute best I've ever had, but definitely solid, tasty, and feels authentic enough. The ribs and fish were both tender and not dry at all, super soft and easy to eat. My bestie was happy with her meal so mission accomplished!! But the chicken wings were okay, nothing exceptional about it. The soup came out last when we were already full so we didn't really get to touch it there. The server was really sweet though and helped us pack it to-go. I brought it home and shared it with my mom the next day. Even after sitting in the fridge for 24 hours, it still held up pretty well. I actually liked the cobia fish a bit more than the catfish, less fatty, more lean. The broth had a nice balance of sweet and sour, and it was loaded with veggies too. Overall, this promotion really won me over. I might bring my mom back to try other dishes on days we don't feel like cooking. Ordered their sugar cane juice which was not what I had expected as they added calamansi to the sugar cane drink which alter the taste of the juice itself. I was expecting pure sugar cane juice. It was refreshing nevertheless. My spouse orders Banh Hoi Tom Thit Nuong which was served on a very nice bamboo tray. It came with rice vermicelli, bbq pork and shrimp. I ordered their crab noodle soup which came with good portion of meat, tofu and vegetables. The broth tasted better when you add their "shrimp paste" to it. The steam rice cake was just average and not as fresh, soft and tender as the ones I had at other places. For vegetarians, they have some good selection of dishes to offer. And I see some reviews dating back 13 years lol probably some even older. Anywho we ordered Banh Khot - 4/5*: Pretty good. My favorite is still from Banh Khot lady in OC. The outside was a little crunchy but the inside was maybe too battery that they kind of canceled each other out. Super big pieces of shrimp, well cooked, didn't even notice I was eating the fish tail lol. The worst part of this dish was the pickled carrots and daikon. Cut too thick, and not Pickly enough. Bo La Lot - we had this in Vietnam on a street food tour and it was mind blowing. We've been looking for place that does it as good since then but haven't been able to. I've also cooked it a few times myself. Came with tiny spring roll paper which barely holds everything in place. Was so messy I just stopped making spring rolls and ate it on its own. The meat was a bit dry and bland and maybe even undercooked. Needs a little more fat in the ground meat mixture. Also came with those thick pickled carrots and daikon, and also thick cut cucumbers. Caramelized Cat Fish - Usually a dish that's home cooked and not some thin we've ever ordered out. There was one with catfish and another with cobia? Never heard of that fish, but I wasn't sure which fish was the more traditional take on it, so we ordered cat fish. The fish fell apart easy but was still very thick and maybe lean is the right word? Typically when we eat this dish, the fish is supposed to be buttery and melt in your mouth. The sauce was good though with a nice kick from a Thai chili. read more

I visited Saigon Kitchen with a group of seven and we shared a variety of dishes, including gỏi bò tái chanh (rare beef "cooked" with lime juice served with onions, bell peppers and shrimp crackers), mussels with garlic, bò 7 món (seven courses of beef), đậu hũ rang muối (salted crispy tofu), bánh khọt (mini fried rice pancakes with shrimp), canh chua cá bông lau (sweet and sour catfish soup), bò lúc lắc (shaking beef over garlic noodles), and a large order of rice. This ended up being just the right amount of food with no leftovers to take home. Of the dishes we ordered, the group's favorite was definitely the salted crispy tofu. The outside was generously seasoned with salt and pepper, the outside had a nice crunchy shell, and the tofu on the inside had a soft, silken texture. I wish this dish came with more pieces because one per person was not enough. Another dish I really enjoyed was gỏi bò tái chanh. I really enjoyed the sourness of the dish and the thin cut of the beef reminded me of perfectly cooked roast beef. If there's one dish I'd personally recommend, it would be this one. Just a side not -- if you end up ordering seven courses of beef, gỏi bò tái chanh is included as one of the preparations of beef. One dish that had room for improvement was the shaking beef: the beef pieces were a bit tough (read: overcooked), but I appreciated that the garlic noodles weren't overly oily and they had a nice chew to it. Overall, I had a pretty decent meal at Saigon Kitchen. I had an opportunity to try out many dishes and sides I had not tried before, including the sweet and sour catfish soup, gỏi bò tái chanh, and mắm nêm -- a fermented dipping sauce made from anchovies, and there were some very memorable dishes I'd gladly order again. I am stilling waiting for the Venmo split from our friend that picked up the check, but Saigon Kitchen is definitely fancier than your average weekday neighborhood Vietnamese lunch spot and is priced accordingly.
