Please read the first picture for a better description. Terrible experience. Bad food. Rude waiters. A real disappointment for my wedding reception. The ambience was confusing and maneuvering was very hard. Overall, do not recommend. The owner needs to contact me immediately. 3 of the party have stomach issues since yesterday.

$3 of crab that "identifies" as $20 of crab. Ugh...

The view may be the reason many are attracted but the food was quite good and the view, is possibly the best in Duluth. The service is consistent and without issue. As things were progressing along nicely, we ordered the filets as we've before and they were very good. This night they offered add-ons and we chose the crab for $20. While adding a better than average Ceasar, we were looking forward to the entree. What arrived looked like a joke and it felt like they were kidding. The attached photos will show what they offer for $20 (to be clear, that's for the little butter holder of crab). It was good for sure, but it was about a large spoonful. It's not that big of a deal, but it's cheeky and feels nickel & dime'y at what's supposed to be an upscale spot in Duluth. I would still recommend the Boat Club, but stay far-far away from any add-ons no matter the price. It is not the price really, but the way it was presented and handled just changed the whole vibe of a nice evening. Not awesome

The boat club well not the boat club but this space has been always amazing due to its amazing view and convinceencehas always been my go-to spot when I stay at Fitgers. The crowd is always interesting and a good mix of old and young and tourists and locals. The vibe changes depending on morning or evening and you never know what to expect. The staff is always kind and curtious and has always been that way every year since the Boat Club restaurant has opened. The view of the water is spectacular and it makes a great spot for morning coffee, tea, or champagne to get the day started. They have a very good drink selection with something for everyone. I tend to get the same breakfast items all the time here unless I see new items on the menu then I try those. I was disappointed that the oysters sold out in I think they said 2 days but there were a few left so I got to at least get 2 of them. Like clockwork, I forgot to take photos of the other times I stopped in here of the items and I need to work on remembering to get photos. If you are at Fitgers for breakfast or brunch you must check out the boat club and get a nice spot by the windows. For dinner well it does not matter where you sit I prefer closer to the bar because you get the best people watching.

Food was delicious. View wonderful. Waited 30 minutes to have order taken. 3 other tables came in and their orders taken, food delivered to 2 of them and we were still waiting to order. Finally ordered. Husband ordered 2nd glass of wine. Almost 20min later brought out and barely any in glass, last glass with 3x the amt. Manager came back with a little more wine but not anywhere near the first glass. Food arrived and was good. Would have given higher rating but service was lacking. Disappointed.

I came to this restaurant for a business meeting during a very snowy day. The view from this restaurant is absolutely stunning even with 16 inches of snow. The staff was awesome and very friendly. I have a dairy allergy which they took very seriously and I appreciated it. I ended up getting the scallops and they were delicious. The Brussels sprouts were gone quickly because they were so darn good. I also got a cocktail which had some local flair. It was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I hope to come back in the summer time and experience the patio!

Fresh, locally sourced and delicious menu options, fast and hospitable service!…read more We were worried that the wait time would be long but it was just long enough to enjoy the outdoor garden boxes and sun. Even though we are visiting Duluth during this crazy time of the wild fires, Duluth Grill made our trip worth it! They have a streamlined process for getting seated, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and local area. My family ordered the usual staples: biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, and bacon/eggs/sausage. All were hearty portions and perfectly prepped. I tried the "Triple B" which turns out to be a Midwest version of Bibimbop. Made with manoomin (wild rice), beef/pork mix, kimchi, marinated kale- probably my fave of the dish. The combo is a deliciously perfect power meal to start any day and weekend right! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the care they take in procuring local ingredients- even their kale and some herbs are from their own lil garden. I highly recommend the Duluth Grill, there's something for everyone! We will definitely stop by on our next trip out to Duluth.

We had checked reviews and saw there were some reviews indicating this restaurant was not as good as it used to be. We decided to see for ourselves as the menu, other positive reviews sounded like it was an incredibly good place to go. It is. It was. It was busy, being a Sunday morning especially, but the staff was handling it all well from our perspective . I used to manage restaurants a long time ago and was impressed with the flow. Our waitress, Natalie, was delightful, knew the menu well to describe and answer questions, and we were not wanting for anything. She checked on us, always grinning and managing the iace well. I had the banana bread pancakes. A perfect choice ! They came and looked like a picture stacked up and flowing down with Carmel, maple bourbon syrup, marzcapone cream and nuts. So delicious. I took half home and enjoyed the rest later. Heated up perfectly with a 20 second zap in micro. My son had the corn beef hash skillet and said his was just as good as mine. We both agreed that we had no idea why reviews were negative, especially going on a busy morning. We will be going back every time we visit. I recommend you do too.

My own personal mistake should not be a ding against the excellence that is Russ Kendall's Smoke…read moreHouse. Those who listen to my cautionary tale may end up fairing better for themselves should you decide to make the trek and find yourself at this magnificent smoked seafood counter. But first, for the love of god, if you are here you are a stone's throw from Lake Superior which is perhaps one of the best places for fish in the country. You may like salmon. Russ Kendall may do a great job with salmon. But don't sleep on those fish that were plucked from these frigid waters. This mindset had me eyeing the walleye and the jumbo whitefish sections. I wanted to buy both, but this was just one of many smoked fish destinations on my list for the week. I hate wasting food, and there is only so much my family can eat. Despite what others may suggest, I am not about to freeze beautiful smoked fish. My hope was that pieces in the case might be able to be cut down. But those hopes were dashed. I get it. That's fine. Policy. Mess. Time. Workflow. Yadda yadda yadda. The walleye pieces were big, but the helpful clerk found a smaller one just for me. Now, as the fish selection process was happening, more and more people were funneling into the shop. My wife was getting antsy. She wanted me to make up my mind and leave. And she had a point. However, that smaller piece was from the meaty and lean tail end of the fish. In a panic I gave the piece a thumbs up, and the clerk wrapped it up for me. This was my one great regret. Not just of this shopping trip, but of my whole vacation. I should have opted for a larger piece that was fat and juicy. That same helpful clerk did indeed find me a gorgeous hunk of lake whitefish that was delightfully fatty, and eating it made me smile with delight. Of course, different people can prefer different pieces of fish. Just like there are some chicken wing lovers who prefer the drummette and others who prefer the flat. If everyone liked the same thing, the world would be a pretty dull place. I guess what I'm saying is don't panic. Know in advance the cuts in the case are the cuts that are available for sale. Find the pieces that call you. If it ends up being a little more fish than you wanted, so be it. This stuff is so good you'll find a way to get it down without denigrating it to the freezer. For those who need crackers, like my wife and kid, there are sleeves for sale. As far as I'm concerned, those crackers are just taking up space in my belly that could be used for more fish. One last thing. Okay, maybe a few last things. Let's call it a lightning round: This isn't a restaurant. It's a takeaway smoked fish shop. It's small. It's busy. It's efficient. It's a regional treasure. Get there. Eat local smoked fish. Salmon isn't local to Minnesota. Get it fatty. Do not fear heads, or skin, or bones. The good stuff takes a little extra work, but it's worth it! You've got this. Now eat well.
