We visited this spot while on vacation, looking for a dog-friendly restaurant (found via the BringFido app). The view was lovely , and we enjoyed a stroll after lunch to take some photos . Upon arrival, we checked in for a party of three. The host staff was efficient but not particularly welcoming ‍. We were seated quickly, within five minutes . However, service throughout the meal was slow--there were long waits for drinks , refills , and the check , even though the restaurant didn't seem overly busy. Given the limited menu , I expected quicker service. I also noticed a note on the menu limiting dining time to 45 minutes , which seemed odd considering the pace of service. If the establishment enforces such a time limit, they should ensure the service is prompt enough to accommodate it without making guests feel rushed . Additionally, for a holiday weekend , the menu was extremely limited. We drove in from a neighboring town , and this was not indicated on the website, which was disappointing . read more

The service here was lackluster. Our waiter would disappear and we had to ask for refills. We had to wait a while on an our food. The food is pretty simple (which isn't necessarily bad) with a small menu. In my opinion it is overpriced for what it was. My wife and I visited this grill today. They would not sit us a table near the water view because there was only two of us. They told us the tables were reserved. The tables sat empty while we ate our meal. I ordered the hamburger that was $16. It was dry as a bone and tasteless. My wife had the chicken wrap that was also expensive. This place is an Outdoor bar and grill that is family friendly. Boat Dock Bar and Grill is a WATERFRONT restaurant with classic American eats. Their outdoor seating has tons of coverage and shade. This place has plenty of seating and a bar area with almost all the spots facing the water. The menu was limited (not much seafood) but had classic options. The options ranged from burgers, sandwiches and wings, with the occasional seafood option (ie: shrimp, grouper fingers and calamari). Their menu had delicious sides including steak fries and a loaded baked potato salad which was YUM! The drink menu included wine, beer and speciality cocktails. Some of which were fun creations like the Blue Ridge Boat Wreak and the LBRM Ridge Runner (a mix of fruity liqueurs and juices). Great menu and even better atmosphere!! Came here for lunch during our visit and loved everything about this place. Not only was the food AMAZING, but the view was beautiful. We were sitting in the back, kind of near the host stand, but the view was still totally awesome. It was quite busy but the staff worked well together to make sure we were taking care of in a timely manner. Our server was very nice and made conversation with us about where we were from and how long we planned to visit. I had the fish tacos, and my friends had the buffalo wrap and hot dog. Not a single complaint between the 4 of us. I never really rave about French fries, but oh man, the fries there are SO good. Will definitely be back when we visit again soon! read more

As part time residents of Blue Ridge this is one of our very fav places. We get a little sad when they close down yearly at end October. Staff is super friendly as is the family who own it. Food is just ok and pretty limited menu so we dont expect gourmet lunches. I miss the blood orange lager they had for years but no longer. They Changed it for IPA. Location cant be beat and who can complain about eating outside gazing at Lake Blue Ridge. Dog friendly too! read more

We got there at 7 pm and were told 45 minute wait. We put our name in. We came back at 730 pm to check how we were doing and were told they were closed We said, But, we have a table for 745 pm. She said, oh that's right. Over here. When she came back 2 minutes later she said, you have 30 minutes until we close up. No one wants to work. All food and drink orders must be placed in the next 30 minutes. We asked questions about the menu and were told nothing is fresh, everything is frozen. We panicked and ordered 3 appetizers and 3 drinks and our meals. The manager came over 3 min later and said sorry, no mojitos. It's Sunday. We and we are out of everything. Had lunch in Friday, August 30 @ 11:45. We ordered 2 BBQ sandwiches. You would think at 11:45 in the morning, the food would be at least HOT!!! Wasn't even warm and then you serve it with cold sauce directly from the frig. I don't want cold sauce on what should have been a HOT sandwich. Chip with the salsa/ guacamole was good. The salsa was decent, yet stingy with the serving. Note: the lunch was cold before you even began service. You weren't even busy yet for your lunchtime crowd that arrived. My wife and I went for lunch and it was a beautiful spot for lunch. The atmosphere is nice and laid back and a great place for your puppies to mingle with new friends! I had the Buffalo chicken wrap and aside from the chicken being a touch dry I thought it was great, a large portion for the money, the fries didn't impress though. My wife had the loaded nacho appetizer for her meal and enjoyed it as well. She had the tropical lemonade and it was fantastic! We split the fried mushroom basket and the portion size was incredible. We had a great experience here but expect a long wait. We came on a Saturday night just after 6:00 and were told the wait was an hour to an hour and a half but may be quicker since there was only two of us. The wait ended up being 50 minutes. They have a makeshift bar set up near the hostess stand so you could order drinks while you wait. It is all open air seating and a lot of it is covered. Great atmosphere overlooking the marina and has a laid back vibe. There was a singer/band that evening. The food is very basic but I really enjoyed mine. I had a quesadilla with pulled pork and the potato salad (definitely recommend that). My husband got one margarita and one skinny margarita and said they were just ok. Our waitress was very nice even though she was busy. It is very dog friendly. Fun place but I wouldn't get there too late since it seems they stop seating people once it gets too busy. read more

Back in April, my friends and I stopped here for lunch. Our waitress was so sweet and helped us with any questions we had. The food and drinks were great! I ordered a Smoked Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a loaded baked potato salad and a frozen margarita. But the second time we went back to just sit at the bar, the bartender was not very friendly with our order of drinks. And then they told us that the kitchen had to be closed down so we weren't able to order any food. We didn't believe that especially after they were being rude with our group. I think they just didn't want us there so we left. I hope the next time, if we ever go back, that this place is a bit better to receive 5 stars instead of 4. read more

This place has gone down hill. It used to be one of our favorite places to eat in Blue Ridge. The pricing has gone through the roof. Yes, I know things are more expensive, but this place, which is bar food, charges $15 for a not that great margarita. During the week they only allow large parties to have a view of the lake, even if the larger tables are open and there is no wait. We are regulars and tried to go on a Monday evening and there was almost no one there. There were 6 large tables open facing the water and we were told we could not sit there as a party of 2. Although they had just sat a party of 3 at one of those tables. They have also removed the bar stools on the ledges during the week. So, if you don't have more than 2 people, you are not allowed to have a view of the lake during the week. I am quite sure the server who was in the section of the big tables would have been happy for our normally very generous tip. We left and won't be going back. Which is such a shame. When we said "no thanks. We'll go somewhere else". The hostess just looked at us and shrugged her shoulders as if to say "I really don't care". I could understand if the place was packed and it was early in the day, but this was later and I am pretty sure 6 large parties weren't going to all of a sudden show up at one time. SMH. read more

Stopped by with my family who was visiting from out of town. The view, food and service were excellent! The only drawback was that when we got the check, we were charged $10 for a glass of wine!! My husband had a beer and it was only $4. I think this is highway robbery and should be adjusted to a more reasonable amount. We will return, but won't be ordering any wine, for sure. read more
