We chose Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale to celebrate my cousin's graduation, and what a choice she made! From start to finish, this place delivered on every level. We opted to sit outside, since it is waterfront and even though it was a hot summer day, it was surprisingly manageable since our covered table made all the difference while we enjoyed the stunning waterfront views. We kicked things off with cocktails, and some wine and the Sun Kissed Cocktail was an excellent choice. Not only was it delicious and refreshing, but the presentation was absolutely stunning . a real rose embedded inside an ice cube. It was almost too beautiful to drink... almost. For appetizers, we went with the Tropical Ceviche and the Tuna Tacos, and both were incredible. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and I loved the mango touch that both dishes shared as it added the perfect tropical sweetness. Then came the entrees, we shared the Shoyu Glazed Sea Bass served with a rice pilaf, edamame purée, bok choy, and shiitake mushrooms, this fish was literally melt-in-your-mouth perfection. We also shared the Lobster Diavolo Pasta which was equally impressive and packed with generous chunks of lobster throughout the pasta, plus a whole small lobster to crack into. And then there were the side of Brussels Sprouts ... honestly, I never thought I'd be raving about a side dish, but here we are. Served shredded rather than whole, and tossed in the most incredible sauce, these were hands down some of the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had in my life. A must-order. I've been here three times in the past. Food and service has always been amazing! This time it was terrible to say the least. The whole menu has changed. Not in a good way. The menu was down-graded. They are using a cheap source for their food. They seafood was low quality. All the main entrees were overcooked. This use to be one of my favorite places. One thing has not been down-graded. We reserved our group in advance, and received a call two hours before with the "rules" for a party of 5 or more. Most of it was expected, but it is also what causes a 3 star review. To start our experience, we arrived early and asked for outdoor seating, which was available. Our waiter came by and I asked for water for everyone along with a starter. Our waiter brought water, but only filled the four glasses on the table and quickly took off, leaving me (in the middle with no glass or setup), with nothing to drink. The app was also delivered and the server took off quickly before I had a chance to ask for anything. The starter was a finger food that was sticky, so I could not start without a plate and napkin. We ordered drinks too, most of which were DELICIOUS - I'm thinking of you, Golden Old Fashioned and Sandbar Spritz! The Island Hopper, not so much. Couldn't put our finger on it, but just not right for either of those who ordered, nor any of the others who tasted it. For apps we had the Bimini Bread, which is always outstanding, and the Kingfish Spread, which was also delicious. Once the fish spread was delivered however, we began to attract a lot of flies. We watched as another table had fans delivered to keep flies away. We ordered our entrees, including Paella and Chop Salads. By now the flies were quite bothersome, so we asked for help, and the server finally brought one fan over. When it was dessert time, despite having made notice in the reservation, it was quite obvious that our server had no idea we were celebrating. I had to specifically ask for dessert menus, and he never offered a dessert. We had the Key Lime Baked Alaska - just ok, and the Butterscotch Bread Pudding. Also just ok. The service on this night was sorely lacking and led to a negative experience. It's interesting that for a party of 5 or more, there is a mandatory 18% service charge. I haven't tipped less than 20% since Covid. Had they NOT included the mandatory tip, I still would have tipped 20%, but honestly, I think our server deserved considerably less (we are talking about a bill over $400.). Boatyard was always my Ft Lauderdale go-to, but I think we will branch out to some other restaurants after this experience. Very disappointing for the price paid to have such poor service. read more

The only good things about this restaurant were the waterfront view and our waiter, Juan, who was great. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Out of the 5 or 6 dishes we ordered, only the paella was okay. I also ordered the whole red snapper and had to send it back. They ruined it with an unnecessary sauce that could have easily been served on the side for dipping instead of being poured all over the fish. The last time that I was here was in the 1980s and it was called Bimini Boatyard which has since shortened its name to just Boatyard. Sat on the outside deck under a massive tiki hut overlooking the water and overpriced yachts. It was a weekend and no happy hour but prices were reasonable for a resort style atmosphere. The three bartenders were non-stop making cocktails and it was fun watching their mixology expertise. Ordered a simple rum & coke with a fish dip with sliced carrots and hot peppers. The veggies were crisp but the fish needed a light sprinkle of salt. The meal was merely a snack. Took some great pics with my wife at the end of the dock near the water. Great 1970's classic rock n' roll was playing throughout the visit. The gender assigned bathroom had a nautical theme similar to the rest of the establishment. Three sparkling white porcelain urinal bowls were affixed against a brick back drop with withered wooden style flooring. Basketball games were playing on the wall monitors. Not a fan of the attendant standing behind me ready to hand me a towel for a tip and not many people carry cash anymore so it was awkward but appreciate the cleanliness of the room. Boatyard has an amazing happy hour! The high seas was very refreshing and the grilled artichokes were absolutely delicious and had such a nice oak grilled flavor. They have a great wine selection for happy hour and truly the vibes are so fun. Each Thursday is ladies night from 7-10 and the last Thursday of every night they bring a guy out on the jet pack on the intercoastal and do lights and sparklers to a DJ. Such a fun experience! Service was good across the board, especially considering the size of our group. The staff kept things moving and handled everything well. The food overall was very good. One steak came out a bit overcooked, but it still had good flavor. The standout for me was the fire-grilled swordfish--it was recommended, and it absolutely delivered. Really well prepared and worth ordering. We also tried the oysters and calamari, both of which were solid. No complaints there. The restaurant itself is clean, and a nice touch was the restroom attendant--everything was spotless and well maintained, which you don't always see anymore. Pricing is a little on the high side for what it is, but that seems to be the norm in Fort Lauderdale these days. Boatyard is a Fort Lauderdale classic, and for good reason. The spacious, pretty interior makes for a nice lunch, and the outdoor, waterside seating is a perfect dinner view. Their happy hour is nice too, offering a good selection of plates that range from $9 to more. Plus, the happy hour time is great for folks that finish work a little later than 5 as it is from 4-7pm. On this particular day, we got the tuna tacos (2 for $10), the calamari ($9), and the snow crab claws ($11). The tuna tacos are a must get: they are so refreshing and the sauce is delicious. Came for a family dinner, it was 5 of us on a Monday evening. It rained a bit and even though it stopped they closed the patio :( We sat in the back room which had a lot of windows though so it was still a nice view of the sunset and water. Our server (Daniel? Can't remember unfortunately) was great - he took photos of us when we asked, using our phone and our instax Polaroid which was so sweet, even pulled a sharpie out of his pocket so i could write the place and date on them. i love the way the staff work together as a team, one person might take your order, someone else delivers the food/checks in on you, etc. - we never had to wait long when we needed something. I loved the artichoke appetizer - unique way of serving them and the cream sauce was delicious. I ordered the full snapper it was so good, perfectly golden crispy on the outside and tender meat on the inside. I would have loved the option to pair it with something besides rice but the dill rice itself was really good. Mostly the sides are à la carte. The bolognese was also delicious, as was the swordfish. The bread is also sweet and delicious, used to be free, now it's $8 for a tiny loaf. Overpriced for some bread. The full snapper was $59, most entrees are 40-50. Can you say FUN TIMES? So many years ago this was my nightly place with my girls but came here with my hubby to sit out in the tiki hut on the water. Took the hubby on the dock to take some pics. The bar back was super friendly but couldn't take our order, which wasn't his fault. When the bartender finally appeared, she proceeded to serve three groups who arrived after us. After forgetting our order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. The drinks are already overpriced at $18, but the terrible service made it even worse. The wait at the reservation desk ran a bit longer than I would have liked, but once checked in I made my way to the outside bar -- and that's where the night truly started. I ordered the Minty Melon and asked to substitute jalapeño for cucumber. The bar staff handled the modification without hesitation and executed it flawlessly. The drink was refreshing, light, and exactly what I was after -- sipped to a perfect soundtrack with great weather rolling in off the water. An ideal way to wait for your party. Once everyone arrived and our table was ready, we were seated promptly dockside. The setting is genuinely beautiful -- intimate, well-balanced in noise level, not too loud and not too quiet. It's the kind of atmosphere that makes conversation easy and the evening feel effortless. The starters were a standout. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and well-executed, the Caesar salad hit the mark, and the Bimini Bread -- Boatyard's signature -- was truly delightful. It's a touch sweeter than you might expect, but that slight sweetness works in its favor. Don't skip it. For my entrée, I ordered the Surf N Turf, and it did not disappoint. Flavorful, well-prepared, no complaints whatsoever. Our waitress was exceptional. Attentive without hovering, personable without overstaying her welcome, and sharp -- when I ordered the same cocktail I had at the bar, she got the modification down perfectly without me having to repeat myself. She also recommended the chocolate cake for dessert, an off-menu item, and it was fantastic. A thoughtful, genuine recommendation that paid off. On the dessert front, the Key Lime Baked Alaska was a slight miss for me. Key lime pie is a Florida institution, and this version felt like it was missing that bold, tart key lime punch. The crust didn't quite land either. Tasty enough, but it didn't live up to the rest of the meal. Overall, Boatyard is an excellent choice -- for date night, dinner with friends, family in town, or entertaining colleagues. The dockside atmosphere alone is worth the reservation. The small friction points -- the check-in wait and the dessert falling slightly short -- are minor against the backdrop of an otherwise really solid evening. The space is really nice, with a great view overlooking the marina, and the waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. Surf and turf was decent but not memorable. Two appetizers, two adult entrees, two kids meals and four drinks -- Minty Melon, Nauti Rita, two IPAs -- came to $223.63 before tip. We stayed in Ft Lauderdale as the beginning of our cruise vacation. We like to find the best dining and Boatyard stood out. I was drawn to the menu. Unfortunately the things I really wanted were sold out. (This is a common theme we've experienced in Ft Lauderdale though). It took a while to finally get a server. I ordered the caviar olive martini. It was fabulous! Highly recommend this martini! I don't remember what entree I wanted at first, but several things were sold out. What we did have was good though. See photos. I really wanted to try their key lime pie dessert but that too was sold out. Our server was sweet and boxed me a piece of their catering key lime pie slice but it was very average. I will definitely give this another try! They had been very busy, service was slow and several menu items sold out. But I still give them a high 4 stars because the food and drinks we did have were excellent! It was just an unexpected extra busy night for them. As of this Sunday's brunch, Boatyard is getting a very well-deserved update! My lady friend and I were looking for a space to kickoff our Sunday fun day for this week and we picked Boatyard. It's tucked away by the river next to an actual boatyard. Once we got inside, the hostess was really pleasant and even showed us a couple of different outside tables to see which one would be just right for us. Although, of course, she enjoyed her glass of Pinot Grigio. We did start off with a couple of fancy cocktails. I enjoyed their blowfish, essentially their version of the Mojito and she their vodka, lemonade, special for breast, cancer awareness month.. My drink was smooth and well blended. As far as food, we started with dessert in the form of their sweet fluffy and glazed Bimini bread. This is a must try when you come to eat here! My main course was their dry aged beef burger. Even though I as usual, ordered medium well, it was seasoned well flavored and messy delicious. She ordered some fish tacos, which of course I didn't try. I do believe first impression is everything so when we first came in, the hostesses were disappointing as they made us wait for us to sit but kept sitting people who were coming in after us. We had to go up to them again just to let them know we were still waiting:/ It got better once we sat with Mitch!! He was on point, very genuine, and you could tell he cares about his customers having the best experience at Boatyard. Very charismatic individual! The food was good, could be better. I wasn't a fan of the espresso martini as it was too strong and overpowered the flavor of espresso. My favorite out of everything we ate was the scallop escargot, it was rich in taste served with some bread on the side. Got the Monaco croissant which was amazing, not the biggest fan of scrambled eggs but those were delicious. The Hudson was good but probably won't order again. So I'm in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of days for business, staying at the Renaissance Hotel. The first night for dinner was Finnegan's, the second... hmmm...what to do. Check out my friends at Yelp, and learn the Boatyard is highly rated. Better yet, it's about a two minute walk from the hotel. You can't beat that. I get there around 5 PM and sit at the bar. It's a beautiful place. On the water, very open, good Florida vibe. The bartenders were absolutely fantastic, introduced themselves, remembered my name, great service. And the Boatyard also has a top-notch happy hour menu with drink specials, and food specials too. So I am all in. Four oysters for 10 bucks? Check. Delicious. I did tell the bartender that the oyster shuckers need to thoroughly cut the oyster from the shell, small detail but I'm a princess. Also... tacos? Check. Delicious. For an entrée I ordered the paella. The bartender recommended it, and it was really good. Lots of seafood, the rice is buttery, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The hostess gave us the HH option or standard menu. We went with HH offered in the bar area only. We sat at one of the high bar tables. HH menu offered a nice selection of seafood choices. The restaurant has nice wood floors, high ceilings and lots of light. The service was very fast, friendly and helpful. We loved the cocktails like the Whiskey Creek. Delicious! The food was very good. We highly recommend the good variety of fresh oysters. The Bimini bread is famous and has a coconut cream center. Yum. The boatyard burger here is made with quality steak meat and it was grilled. The end result is a fantastic, delicious and savory burger that is massive and cooked to perfection. My family and I had a fantastic dinner beside the water tonight. Parking is abundant and plentiful in the shared public lot. The restaurant is beautiful and big. We were seated quickly after arriving. We did have reservations. We opted to sit by the water on the patio. Shortly after sitting Shamar greeted us. While we browsed the menu he brought us water. Everything we had was delicious and well paced. I enjoyed the Minty Melon and my husband had the Whiskey Creek. Both were tasty. For starters we shared the large Caesar salad and clam chowder. The salad was beautiful with prosciutto, Kalamata olives and cherry tomatoes. The chowder was delicious and very unique. It had a lemony flavor which I really enjoyed. We shared the shrimp cocktail next- the shrimp were HUGE- chilled and just delicious meaty goodness! For entrees we shared the Grouper Picatta and the shoyu glazed sea bass. We didn't have room for desert but based on how tasty everything else was it sure it would have been amazing! Shamar was friendly and very attentive. Pillowy soft on the inside. There is a sweet buttery sauce that it lays on. Also comes with a side churned butter. All good. The star was the chopped salad. You can add protein. I didn't I just stole the chicken off of someone's plate. lol. The salad could easily be shareable. The menu is heavy on seafood. They get their seafood daily and cook each to order. I've been to this place countless times, and it's always a go-to spot. We recently went to celebrate a friend's birthday during happy hour, and while the atmosphere and vibe were great, l have to mention one important thing: they really need to staff better during happy hour. The wait time for service was noticeable, especially with such a big crowd. Our server/bartender, Jasmine, was clearly overwhelmed-at first, it came across as attitude, but once we realized how much she was juggling, it was clear the situation wasn't fair to her. Despite the heavy workload, she kept the drinks coming and did her best to attend to our very large group of about 20 people. By the end of the night, she had relaxed, smiled, and made the experience better. The place itself has both indoor and outdoor seating and a great ambiance. When my niece and I first got there we weren't sure this was the place for us. We sat at a booth by the bar and our waitress seemed a bit off- stand offish. We ignored it and decided to kill her with kindness and it turned out that she just had that rbf and she was actually wonderful! Drinks were amazing, appetizers and dinner was spectacular. Boatyard is a great experience because the food, drinks and the ambience are a hit. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is very fresh, with local ingredients and incredible flavors. The drink options are also incredible. I've been this establishment about three times and I would love to come back. read more

Thursday night is Ladies Night. We sat outside at the outdoor bar. It was so cold but they had the heaters on full blast. The bar tenders worked together as a team and were busy but still very attentive. My friends and I were celebrating our birthdays so we arrived during happy hour (5-7p) and stayed thru ladies night (7-10p on Thursdays). We tried so much food. The clam chowder was really delicious and the Brussels sprouts were shaved and crispy. The branzino fish was delicious and perfectly cooked. The red sauce and feta cheese was a bit over powering but still tasted nice. The drinks were great. Next time I'm in Ft. Lauderdale I will return to try more items. read more

The scenery and the vibe is amazing on Sundays in the winter and early spring! Perfect place to hangout with friends. Parking was a little challenging especially on the weekends so I would recommend to go earlier during the day. I had the cod crusted with Parmesan and I was happy with my selection as I wanted a healthier option that was still tasty. There's an automatic gratuity added to the check which doesn't diminish the service unless other places I've been to. I enjoyed this venue and I will consider for future hangouts either way my friends. read more

Great food and a beautiful setting, but the overall experience had some clear gaps. The food was a solid 5/5--everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well presented. The view is also a big highlight, easily 5/5 when the weather cooperates, though it loses some of its charm when it's raining. Unfortunately, the service and overall hospitality didn't match the quality of the food. Service was slow and inconsistent (2/5), and the staff interaction felt a bit impersonal and lacking warmth (2/5 across the board for both personal touch and atmosphere). With better service and a more welcoming vibe, this place could easily be a top-tier spot. read more
