Between my friends and I, Boatyard is our favorite destination on Friday nights, and also Thursday nights since it is ladies night. Especially when there is a big group, I can't think of any other place that can accommodate a large crowd without breaking a sweat. First, the view is amazing, you can walk on the dock, and if yoy go at the right time, take a photo right before sunset. I stopped by Boatyard with a few friends to enjoy their happy hour menu and I must say, the food was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't resist ordering two servings of the tuna tacos which were a highlight for me. My friend opted for two orders of oysters and a shrimp cocktail. We couldn't pass up the truffle fries they were a must have! I paired my meal with a lovely crisp glass of wine, which complemented the flavors perfectly. The bartender was done to earth and accommodating. The overall atmosphere was vibrant and enjoyable. However, I did have one minor concern. The restaurant is dog friendly and while I appreciate that for the dog lovers it did lead to a lingering smell of dogs after one group left. It was bit off putting for us and we decided to leave early and get more drinks elsewhere. I'm becoming less fond of pets in dining spaces. Nonetheless, the experience was mostly positive and the delicious food certainly made up for it before the smell took over. read more

Came here for brunch and had a great time per usual! I've came to this restaurant numerous times and never had a bad experience. The vibe is always on point and food and service is always great also. We reserved our group in advance, and received a call two hours before with the "rules" for a party of 5 or more. Most of it was expected, but it is also what causes a 3 star review. To start our experience, we arrived early and asked for outdoor seating, which was available. Our waiter came by and I asked for water for everyone along with a starter. Our waiter brought water, but only filled the four glasses on the table and quickly took off, leaving me (in the middle with no glass or setup), with nothing to drink. The app was also delivered and the server took off quickly before I had a chance to ask for anything. The starter was a finger food that was sticky, so I could not start without a plate and napkin. We ordered drinks too, most of which were DELICIOUS - I'm thinking of you, Golden Old Fashioned and Sandbar Spritz! The Island Hopper, not so much. Couldn't put our finger on it, but just not right for either of those who ordered, nor any of the others who tasted it. For apps we had the Bimini Bread, which is always outstanding, and the Kingfish Spread, which was also delicious. Once the fish spread was delivered however, we began to attract a lot of flies. We watched as another table had fans delivered to keep flies away. We ordered our entrees, including Paella and Chop Salads. By now the flies were quite bothersome, so we asked for help, and the server finally brought one fan over. When it was dessert time, despite having made notice in the reservation, it was quite obvious that our server had no idea we were celebrating. I had to specifically ask for dessert menus, and he never offered a dessert. We had the Key Lime Baked Alaska - just ok, and the Butterscotch Bread Pudding. Also just ok. The service on this night was sorely lacking and led to a negative experience. It's interesting that for a party of 5 or more, there is a mandatory 18% service charge. I haven't tipped less than 20% since Covid. Had they NOT included the mandatory tip, I still would have tipped 20%, but honestly, I think our server deserved considerably less (we are talking about a bill over $400.). Boatyard was always my Ft Lauderdale go-to, but I think we will branch out to some other restaurants after this experience. Very disappointing for the price paid to have such poor service. read more

We chose Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale to celebrate my cousin's graduation, and what a choice she made! From start to finish, this place delivered on every level. We opted to sit outside, since it is waterfront and even though it was a hot summer day, it was surprisingly manageable since our covered table made all the difference while we enjoyed the stunning waterfront views. We kicked things off with cocktails, and some wine and the Sun Kissed Cocktail was an excellent choice. Not only was it delicious and refreshing, but the presentation was absolutely stunning . a real rose embedded inside an ice cube. It was almost too beautiful to drink... almost. For appetizers, we went with the Tropical Ceviche and the Tuna Tacos, and both were incredible. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and I loved the mango touch that both dishes shared as it added the perfect tropical sweetness. Then came the entrees, we shared the Shoyu Glazed Sea Bass served with a rice pilaf, edamame purée, bok choy, and shiitake mushrooms, this fish was literally melt-in-your-mouth perfection. We also shared the Lobster Diavolo Pasta which was equally impressive and packed with generous chunks of lobster throughout the pasta, plus a whole small lobster to crack into. And then there were the side of Brussels Sprouts ... honestly, I never thought I'd be raving about a side dish, but here we are. Served shredded rather than whole, and tossed in the most incredible sauce, these were hands down some of the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had in my life. A must-order. The last time that I was here was in the 1980s and it was called Bimini Boatyard which has since shortened its name to just Boatyard. Sat on the outside deck under a massive tiki hut overlooking the water and overpriced yachts. It was a weekend and no happy hour but prices were reasonable for a resort style atmosphere. The three bartenders were non-stop making cocktails and it was fun watching their mixology expertise. Ordered a simple rum & coke with a fish dip with sliced carrots and hot peppers. The veggies were crisp but the fish needed a light sprinkle of salt. The meal was merely a snack. Took some great pics with my wife at the end of the dock near the water. Great 1970's classic rock n' roll was playing throughout the visit. The gender assigned bathroom had a nautical theme similar to the rest of the establishment. Three sparkling white porcelain urinal bowls were affixed against a brick back drop with withered wooden style flooring. Basketball games were playing on the wall monitors. Not a fan of the attendant standing behind me ready to hand me a towel for a tip and not many people carry cash anymore so it was awkward but appreciate the cleanliness of the room. The only good things about this restaurant were the waterfront view and our waiter, Juan, who was great. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Out of the 5 or 6 dishes we ordered, only the paella was okay. I also ordered the whole red snapper and had to send it back. They ruined it with an unnecessary sauce that could have easily been served on the side for dipping instead of being poured all over the fish. The paella was very well prepared and packed with flavor. The rice was cooked nicely, carrying the rich saffron and broth flavors throughout the dish, while the seafood was fresh and tender. One steak came out a bit overcooked, but it still had good flavor. The standout for me was the fire-grilled swordfish--it was recommended, and it absolutely delivered. Really well prepared and worth ordering. We also tried the oysters and calamari, both of which were solid. No complaints there. The restaurant itself is clean, and a nice touch was the restroom attendant--everything was spotless and well maintained, which you don't always see anymore. Just gonna make this brief as the shit-show that transpired yesterday was something no diner should experience. let alone father on fathers day. Kids gave me a choice of these two restaurants, sadly I chose the Boatyard. Reservation at 1:30, we arrived, seated, had appetizers on the table in 25 minutes. Everything went to shit afterwards. Almost 2.5 hours later dinner arrived. While the food was good, our time is valuable. We figured 1.5 hours for dinner which left enough time for us to do other things for Fathers day. We left the Restaurant at almost 5:00 PM. We were told that an error in electronics was the culprit. Sadly John the manager didn't realize we were sitting by the kitchen and could see the food coming and going. Somebody was lying about what was going on . . . After complaining, our meal was comped. While we appreciate that, we can never get back the time and what was planned afterwards. Just left a bad taste in our mouths, especially this dads! read more

On this particular day, we got the tuna tacos (2 for $10), the calamari ($9), and the snow crab claws ($11). The tuna tacos are a must get: they are so refreshing and the sauce is delicious. The calamari is nicely breaded and comes with a lot. And finally, the snow crab claws were fresh and a quick way to feel fancy. Overall, Boatyard will leave you coming back for more. read more

I wish I could rate Boatyard a zero. The service was shockingly slow. We waited 25 minutes at the bar before anyone even acknowledged us. The bar back was super friendly but couldn't take our order, which wasn't his fault. When the bartender finally appeared, she proceeded to serve three groups who arrived after us. After forgetting our order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. The drinks are already overpriced at $18, but the terrible service made it even worse. Came for a family dinner, it was 5 of us on a Monday evening. It rained a bit and even though it stopped they closed the patio :( We sat in the back room which had a lot of windows though so it was still a nice view of the sunset and water. Our server (Daniel? Can't remember unfortunately) was great - he took photos of us when we asked, using our phone and our instax Polaroid which was so sweet, even pulled a sharpie out of his pocket so i could write the place and date on them. i love the way the staff work together as a team, one person might take your order, someone else delivers the food/checks in on you, etc. - we never had to wait long when we needed something. I loved the artichoke appetizer - unique way of serving them and the cream sauce was delicious. I ordered the full snapper it was so good, perfectly golden crispy on the outside and tender meat on the inside. I would have loved the option to pair it with something besides rice but the dill rice itself was really good. Mostly the sides are à la carte. The bolognese was also delicious, as was the swordfish. The bread is also sweet and delicious, used to be free, now it's $8 for a tiny loaf. Overpriced for some bread. The full snapper was $59, most entrees are 40-50. I guess you also pay for the setting and view. Good experience overall, this was my second time at boatyard and I'm sure I'll be back again. read more

The space is really nice, with a great view overlooking the marina, and the waitstaff were friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. One note on portions: the branzino was a very small portion, and it sounds like all fish portions are 7oz, which felt a bit light for the price tag. We visited Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale for Father's Day brunch and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We made an 11:15 AM reservation because we were dining with our 6.5-month-old daughter. When we arrived, we were seated promptly, which was appreciated. We were placed in a back dining room with a few other families with children, and at that time the restaurant was not busy at all. Our server took our drink order, and we ordered two espresso martinis. They arrived quickly, but both tasted extremely watered down and the coffee flavor was unpleasant. We sent them back and requested different drinks, which the staff accommodated. The bigger issue was the food and service. We ordered the $125 seafood tower and asked if we could substitute the oysters for another item, such as clams. We were told substitutions weren't possible, but that we could build our own tower for the same price. That turned out not to be true--the custom tower ended up costing $175. In addition to the tower, we ordered a burger and a pasta dish. From the time we placed our food order until the food arrived, nearly two hours passed. With an infant, that's simply unacceptable. By the time our food finally arrived, our daughter had missed her nap, was extremely fussy, and we no longer had time to enjoy the meal. We ended up boxing most of it up, paying the bill, and leaving. To make matters worse, the food itself was underwhelming. The burger was overcooked, the pasta was average at best, and nothing we ate justified either the wait or the price. After tip, our bill came to approximately $283. For a restaurant of this caliber and price point, especially on a busy holiday when reservations are required, I expected much better communication, service, and food quality. Unfortunately, this experience left us disappointed, and I would not recommend Boatyard. read more

As of this Sunday's brunch, Boatyard is getting a very well-deserved update! My lady friend and I were looking for a space to kickoff our Sunday fun day for this week and we picked Boatyard. It's tucked away by the river next to an actual boatyard. Once we got inside, the hostess was really pleasant and even showed us a couple of different outside tables to see which one would be just right for us. Although, of course, she enjoyed her glass of Pinot Grigio. We did start off with a couple of fancy cocktails. I enjoyed their blowfish, essentially their version of the Mojito and she their vodka, lemonade, special for breast, cancer awareness month.. My drink was smooth and well blended. As far as food, we started with dessert in the form of their sweet fluffy and glazed Bimini bread. This is a must try when you come to eat here! My main course was their dry aged beef burger. Even though I as usual, ordered medium well, it was seasoned well flavored and messy delicious. She ordered some fish tacos, which of course I didn't try. Of course, certain intangibles make a venue even better! The ambience was perfect for a date brunch. I do believe first impression is everything so when we first came in, the hostesses were disappointing as they made us wait for us to sit but kept sitting people who were coming in after us. We had to go up to them again just to let them know we were still waiting:/ It got better once we sat with Mitch!! He was on point, very genuine, and you could tell he cares about his customers having the best experience at Boatyard. Very charismatic individual! The food was good, could be better. I wasn't a fan of the espresso martini as it was too strong and overpowered the flavor of espresso. My favorite out of everything we ate was the scallop escargot, it was rich in taste served with some bread on the side. Got the Monaco croissant which was amazing, not the biggest fan of scrambled eggs but those were delicious. The Hudson was good but probably won't order again. So I'm in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of days for business, staying at the Renaissance Hotel. The first night for dinner was Finnegan's, the second... hmmm...what to do. Check out my friends at Yelp, and learn the Boatyard is highly rated. Better yet, it's about a two minute walk from the hotel. You can't beat that. I get there around 5 PM and sit at the bar. It's a beautiful place. On the water, very open, good Florida vibe. The bartenders were absolutely fantastic, introduced themselves, remembered my name, great service. And the Boatyard also has a top-notch happy hour menu with drink specials, and food specials too. So I am all in. Four oysters for 10 bucks? Check. Delicious. I did tell the bartender that the oyster shuckers need to thoroughly cut the oyster from the shell, small detail but I'm a princess. Also... tacos? Check. Delicious. For an entrée I ordered the paella. The bartender recommended it, and it was really good. Lots of seafood, the rice is buttery, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant has nice wood floors, high ceilings and lots of light. The service was very fast, friendly and helpful. We loved the cocktails like the Whiskey Creek. Delicious! The food was very good. We highly recommend the good variety of fresh oysters. The Bimini bread is famous and has a coconut cream center. Yum. My family and I had a fantastic dinner beside the water tonight. Parking is abundant and plentiful in the shared public lot. The restaurant is beautiful and big. We were seated quickly after arriving. We did have reservations. We opted to sit by the water on the patio. Shortly after sitting Shamar greeted us. While we browsed the menu he brought us water. Everything we had was delicious and well paced. I enjoyed the Minty Melon and my husband had the Whiskey Creek. Both were tasty. For starters we shared the large Caesar salad and clam chowder. The salad was beautiful with prosciutto, Kalamata olives and cherry tomatoes. The chowder was delicious and very unique. It had a lemony flavor which I really enjoyed. We shared the shrimp cocktail next- the shrimp were HUGE- chilled and just delicious meaty goodness! For entrees we shared the Grouper Picatta and the shoyu glazed sea bass. We didn't have room for desert but based on how tasty everything else was it sure it would have been amazing! Shamar was friendly and very attentive. The Boatyard in Fort Lauderdale has all the markings of a great restaurant -- heavy glass cups, sparkling or still water, a server who actually knows the menu and cares. The indoor space is gorgeous. Do yourself a favor and sit inside. The outdoor bugs after a rainy evening were relentless. Highlights were the lobster claws and Bimini bread -- both outstanding and worth the trip alone. The server was excellent, knowledgeable and genuine. The entrees though didn't match the promise. Pork chop with au poivre sauce was underwhelming, sweet potato puree forgettable. Surf and turf was decent but not memorable. Two appetizers, two adult entrees, two kids meals and four drinks -- Minty Melon, Nauti Rita, two IPAs -- came to $223.63 before tip. We made a reservation & we were seated pretty quick for a Saturday night. Our server Alejandro was great. I started with a lobster cocktail- it was a whole lobster tail. Hubby had the octopus. Both were really delicious. & filling! For the mains, I went with the Grouper Piccata. Very healthy choice as well as fresh tasting!!! Hubby had Branzino. He really enjoyed it. The Boatyard is by water & we got to see a bit of it from our table. There were tables & lots of separate sections. Lots of people were seated at the very long bar. I need to see more of this place, it was evening & I couldn't see all of the restaurant because of the lighting. Definitely will come back to try their brunch. Beautiful restaurant. Perfect name of the restaurant. Located on a dock. So in the back you have the view of these beautiful boats and water. Inside and outside bar. Lounge seating on the side. And dining in the back. There are so many options for seating and dining Disclaimer: great drinks during happy hour. But you have to stay at the bar to continually drink ad enjoy the discount. Alejandro was an angel. He understood the menu and was able to explain it in great detail. I ordered the Bimini bread and chopped salad. The bread is a pre sliced small loaf. Pillowy soft on the inside. There is a sweet buttery sauce that it lays on. Also comes with a side churned butter. All good. The star was the chopped salad. You can add protein. I didn't I just stole the chicken off of someone's plate. lol. The salad could easily be shareable. The menu is heavy on seafood. They get their seafood daily and cook each to order.
