    Side of pancakes.

We were passing through town on Sunday afternoon and went off the beaten path for this meal. It has a cool divey country diner vibe. Clean table and dining area - we sat in the back dining room. Clean single stall for a ladies' room. The initial server interaction was a bit strange. My husband had a few questions about the menu and the server seemed reluctant to participate in the conversation. It wasn't overly busy, so it was an awkward exchange. The 2nd server that took our actual order was more engaging. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette and received a cheese omelette. It was a mistake in the kitchen. At my request, the server promptly cured it with a side of bacon that looked like a descent pieces of bacon, but microwaved on a small side plate. My husband ordered french toast and it looked great. Unfortunately, all pieces were room temp on the outside and refrigerator cold on the inside, so he didn't finish it. I tried my side of pancakes and had the exact same issue, so I did not finish them. In hindsight, our food was served very quickly. Which I would not usually complain about, but it is evident that they have precooked meals and not cooked to order. Maybe if they were heated thoroughly we would not have known that they were not fresh off the griddle. Honestly, I would rather wait a little longer for a quality meal cooked to order than to be served cold food fast. While we were waiting for the check, we heard another patron say, "it's not hot at all, but it has good flavor." Having already corrected the omelette, we did not report our concern over the cold food. Our server promptly bussed our table, but after waiting 10 mins for the check, my husband had to walk to the front to inquire about the process to pay. We didn't realize we needed to pay up front without an actual check issued at the table. We paid and we left. We really wanted to like the place, but unfortunately it fell short today. I don't usually like to leave a negative review, but this place earned the constructive remarks. Maybe it was an off day, but we were passing through so we have no idea if this is a consistent service.

Good service, clean environment, friendly staff, reasonable prices. We are traveling through town and glad we stopped here for breakfast.

Service was great! Food was delicious!! Both the Corn Beef Hash and the Italian sausage with eggs were to die for! Found this cute little hidden gem traveling from Clayton, NM to Pagosa Springs, Co in beautiful Trinidad, CO. Will definitely come back whenever we pass through again.

Elk sausage, mushrooms, green chile, ooey gooey cheese, and oh my, my tastebuds came alive! The crust had just the right amount of crisp on the bottom, while the sauce had a delicious complimentary exchange with the ingredients. I ate way more than what I'd normally eat for lunch! Then to top that off, I was offered hot honey to finish off the crust that was absolutely fantabulous on it's own. This was the perfect way to complete an amazing pie! It was so good, that we ate the leftovers for dinner, and we were just as pleased, minus the great company that the restaurant offers with their local vibe and interest in your experience. Super cool folks! I also, out of curiosity, ordered a single slice with my go-to favorite... hamburger, pineapple, jalapeno, and extra cheese. It was tantalizing! On a hot Spring day, you can't go wrong with a cool drink and an amazing pie at the new Las Animas Pizza!

The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed--grab a menu, seat yourself, and take in the local history through the vintage photographs on the walls, complete with a reference map that's fun to explore while you wait. We started with the pork belly appetizer. For mains, we had the Bearcat Burger and the Fish & Chips. Each came with a generous serving of crispy rosemary fries, but you can upgrade to truffle or chili fries for an extra treat. Service was prompt, cheerful, and attentive without being overbearing. A great spot for a casual bite with quality food and small-town charm.
