Very slow service this past weekend in a sparsely populated dining room. My travel companion and I were approximately 45 minutes ahead of schedule, so we elected to have a sit down dinner at the Breezewood Bob Evans. We ordered simple breakfast food (and the food was palatable). Alas, the waitstaff was unable to serve us fully in the time I had allotted; instead, it took more than an hour. Worse yet, we then had to stop at Starbucks because Bob Evans did not have coffee available. I'm still searching for the optimal Breezewood dining option. read more

I love Bob Evans and can normally count on them for a good a meal, but this establishment is the worst by far. We ordered breakfast to go. Portion size or taste was up to Bob Evans standard. I ate my portion of eggs in one bite and I'm not a big eater. I think they took 1 egg and split it between 2 meals. Not only that they were dry and cold with the cheese. I'm originally from Ohio which so happened to be where Bob Evans originated but now I live in Florida and we unfortunately don't have one in Panama City Beach... so when I seen this Bobs in Breezewood I of course had to have it and man was I impressed!!! The food was absolutely spot on and the wait staff are all amazing! I can really tell they take great pride in this place and a nice bonus is the gift shop area... I stopped here at dinner time on a recent trip. I prefer stopping for food in Breezewood rather than at one of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Service areas. Bob Evans appeared to be one of a very few choices for a table service restaurant. I had a dinner of grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. The food was good, well-prepared, but nothing exciting. The waitress was pleasant and efficient. My food was served promptly without a long wait. Although I generally avoid Bob Evans restaurants elsewhere, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling through Breezewood at mealtime. The immediate alternatives regardless of the direction of travel are limited for many miles. read more

Pretty standard bob Evans. Came here on a holiday weekend around 11:30 am and was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a wait. Waitress was friendly, service was pretty quick. Got an egg white omelette and home fries. The home fries weren't cooked through. Omelette wasn't too bad, a little too much cooking oil but aside from that it was decent. Daughter got a burger and it definitely lacked seasoning. But overall, our visit was as expected. read more

After having been on the road for 3 hours already, my 3 year old and I stopped in for dinner before finishing up the last leg of our trip. 20 minutes we waited for someone to come take our drink order! I stopped the bus boy to ask who our server was and had to wait another 5 minutes for the bus boy to come back who actually took it. Ordered my kiddo chicken tenders that were hard as a rock. The fries were cold and my Arnold palmer kept getting made with unsweetened ice tea. The last thing I wanted to do was be here for almost 90 minutes especially when we had already been traveling for so long. Even if this wasnt located at a well known rest area, 90 minutes for 2 people is ridiculous. I guess we will hit up Perkins or Pizza Hut next time. read more

When we visited this restaurant earlier today, most of the employees were undergoing a training, so only a few employees were available to serve customers. Our waitress was running around trying to serve several tables at once. Our food came out quickly. The pot roast was a little greasy. The cheddar potato soup was more like thick cheesy potatoes than soup because it had no broth. The hamburger tasted fine and was nothing special. The problem that we had was with the bill. We ended up being charged for a different, larger table of customers. I believe that the waitress gave us the correct bill originally. But then the seating hostess came by to put a second bill on our table. (The seating hostess had taken our drink order earlier, and I guess that she was trying to help out the busy waitress by also bringing us a bill.) We told the seating hostess that we already had received a bill, so she confusedly took one of the bills away. We then took the bill to the cashier to ring us up. Somewhere in there among the three employees, they charged us for another, larger table's food. I will have to remember to not come here again. read more

Pretty standard restaurant, but it was at least a sit-down place, as opposed to all of the fast food places on the turnpike. My sister said it looked like a former Cracker Barrel, which is certainly possible, as it didn't look like any Bob Evans I've been in. We both had salads, and they were fine. Nothing special, but not bad, either. I did enjoy walking around the little store, though. And I did get an inexpensive stand for my phone unlike any I've seen before. read more

We stopped in to eat and had a waitress that was very slow, forgetful of what we asked for. Poor service. We used the restroom on our exit and the women's bathroom was disgusting . We asked to talk to the manager, Brian. He said he did not notice it (filth) this morning but he would get on it. That is more than one days worth of scum. read more

This was a Bob Evans that wants to be a Cracker Barrel. When you enter, you have to walk through a shop full of "country" themed decor, kids items and Steelers stuff. Service is pretty slow and we needed to track down our server more than once. The food is pretty typical for a Bob Evans. One thing that didn't make sense is that they had decorative parsley on all the plates. My husband had biscuits and gravy and I had chicken fried steak. Neither were meals you would ever think worthy of a garnish. Overall, not a bad place to stop in Breezewood, but it will take more time than you might be willing to spend. read more

Poor service, questionable food. "I didn't know who was taking care of your table", said the waitress after waiting 15 minutes for service. Traveling alone to DC to visit friends and decided to stop in Breezewood for breakfast. Bad decision, better choice would be to take Route 30 East and find a small diner. Serviceable stopover in Breezewood, where the alternatives are pretty much all fast food - more often than not housed in a gas station. How appetizing. Whoever thought up that idea deserves to be shot. Back to Bob. Wait was only about ten minutes, although I admit I was surprised there was a wait at all, given the number of open tables (they may have been a bit short-staffed). I suppose it's been a long time since I've been to a Bob Evans, so I didn't realize it was actually a Cracker Barrel in disguise, right down to the peg games on the tables and the up-front impulsive shopping zone. Our waitress was friendly and competent. The food was pretty standard - my son had a burger (he was happy), my wife had a "slow baked" ham and cheese sandwich (not too bad), and I opted for the fried shrimp (can't complain, it's fried shrimp). Sprang for a dessert item ("extreme" or "ultimate" pumpkin pie, can't recall) - also tasty. If you have to stop in Breezewood, this is probably your best option. read more

To get to the restaurant, you first walk through a cute shop. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. We were seated quickly and the waitress was friendly. After ordering though, we had to wait 15-20 minutes for our food even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant. What great service at Bob Evans Restaurant in Breezewood, PA. Nicole the Shift Leader was wonderful putting together my takeout order. She was very warm and approachable. The cashier was very friendly and another gentleman working there showed me where to pay. This restaurant is very customer focused and it is very refreshing to see a nice, very clean, and well managed place. The location itself was the nicest Bob Evan's I had ever been in too. There aren't a lot of places to eat in Breezewood. When you've been there for more than one visit, you start looking at where you haven't been and trying those. This time it was Bob Evans. This review is less for the food - hey, it call comes out of the corporate Bob Evans truck and there was little discernible difference between one in PA and one near home in VA - and more for the establishment itself and the service. ATMOSPHERE / ENVIRONMENT This Bob Evans has a cute little country store attached and I picked up a few packs of old fashioned hard candies. Not much here you won't find elsewhere, but you could probably pick up a nice gift for someone back home or in the office. We were seated right away and the restaurant was only about 1/2 full. Overall the space is quite large and a little cavernous. I sometimes worry about sitting near the windows at such a place as it could be drafty but it wasn't. We had a nice table and it was perfect for 4 hungry people who needed to eat and hadn't seen each other in a year. SERVICE Waitress (I will address the kitchen staff separately): To say our waitress was a bit vacant would be incredibly generous. When we sat down, one of my friends needed to use the restroom, so left the table. A minute or so later the waitress arrived to take our drink order (YAY - props for that). 3 of us ordered beverages, but we explained that our friend was in the restroom and we didn't know what she wanted. I kid you not - the waitress just stood there. Didn't say anything, didn't even move - finally one of my friends kindly suggested maybe she could get our drinks and then our 4th would be back to the table. That was pretty much indicative of how our service went. Maybe the waitress was just having a bad day, but seemed like we needed to explain what we needed in more detail than necessary. My eggs came out as 2 fried eggs, instead of scrambled egg substitute (she seemed puzzled by this but did go back to the kitchen to make it right). She just brought over our check without ever seeing if we wanted anything else (we did want dessert and had to send the check back). It was all just rather odd for a place that I'm sure does a fair amount of business and we didn't order anything odd. Kitchen staff: The cook was absolutely wonderful. After the mix-up with my eggs, a huge amount of scrambled egg substitute (it was only suppose to be like 2 eggs worth) came out accompanied by an extremely jovial cook, apologizing and asking if we needed anything else (something our waitress never once did). This had to be the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. First the waitress comes to get our drink orders, with a look that screams she doesn't want to be there. Next my daughter orders her drink speaking as she usually does, which is fast. This server could have handled it better, but instead snaps at my daughter with an attitude. We order our food next and the same daughter orders her burger. I clarified her order because we often have issues with her ordering a bacon cheeseburger plain. Some places leave the bacon off if you say plain. So when I clarified she just wanted meat, cheese and the bacon this chick snaps an attitude again. When she went to the back and started trashing us to the rest of the staff. The rest of the stay was completely uncomfortable so we were out as quickly as we could. What this server doesn't know and took no time to have even the slightest bit of conversation where she could have found out, is that my daughter has AUTISM. She speaks quickly most of the time but can slow down when reminded. Instead of me having even a few seconds to remind her to slow down, this chick slammed her with attitude and then had to go talk trash to the rest of the staff. We stopped here for dinner on the return trip from the Pittsburgh marathon at the beginning of May 2012. We just needed a good basic meal to aid our recovery from a weekend of travel and racing. One thing that is a pet peeve of mine is dirty menus. I don't mind pictures of the food, but, please, no samples on the menus. Our menus were spotless. Yeah, sadly, I was not a fan. :-( This is indeed a travel-stop restaurant. We decided to stop here for breakfast after being on the road for about 5 hours. The pictures of the food look appetizing enough and they pretty much let you customized things to your liking but when the food actually came out...it was a no for me. I ordered a veggie omelette with egg whites and added the Bob Evans sausage. I ordered home fries as my side and it also came with the choice of biscuit or toast. I opted for the biscuit and that was probably the highlight of my meal. My omelette was literally swimming in grease and although you'd think it would be healthy, the excess oil/grease quickly dispelled that notion. The potatoes were also insanely greasy. My dad ordered pancakes and I tasted some of his. Sadly, this also wasn't good. It tasted like pancakes out of the box - very bland and dense. I know Bob Evans has been around for quite some time, but I'd suggest passing on this location at least and opting for the McDonald's across the street. That breakfast is tastier. read more

Don't come here if you don't eat meat. One of the (very) few vegetarian options on the menu besides side dishes was a goat cheese and vegetable omelet. You'd think that goat cheese would be inside the omelet and would be one of the more prominent ingredients, right? Wrong. The goat cheese was sprinkled on top like a garnish, and for a while I thought there was no cheese at all inside the omelet (which was mostly mushrooms and pretty flavorless), until I discovered halfway through a patch of American cheese. So disappointing. The biscuit was fine (a bit dry). Mostly ended up mooching off my dining companions' fries and abandoned my own meal. The service was good, but yikes don't come here if you're a vegetarian or vegan. read more

Perspective. You don't go into Arby's and expect filet mignon. For a Bob Evans this place is great. The service was so extra friendly with everyone we met there. My poached eggs were cooked perfectly and my potatoes were yummy with a perfect amount of salt and slightly firm (not sitting all day in the heaters). The turkey sausage were thicker/girthier than a lot of places. And that biscuit was very flaky and fresh. Would come here again if I wanted breakfast on a road trip to Pittsburgh. They also have a very large country store (largest I've seen at a Bob Evans) in front with many cute and quaint items. read more

On the way to Philadelphia it was around time for dinner, and conveniently there was what I'd call a 'commercial ghetto' nearby the turnpike. In this valley of restaurants, gas stations, and convenience Bob Evans seemed like one of the better choices. I haven't been to Bob Evans before, but is assume their menu is consistent with other chain restaurants. The meal I had was very good, for being part of the low calorie menu options there was a lot of flavour and the portions were of a reasonable size. The restaurant itself is clean and the staff were nice. Out of the area, this is probably on of the better options in my opinion, service is quick and the food is good. read more

Yesterday I placed an order online which gave me a pick-up time before they actually opened. The person who arrived first for work called me and explained the issue and provided options for substitutions because their ovens were not warmed up yet. What could have been a problematic situation was handed by a customer service pro and I got my food the moment they opened their doors and was really happy with my experience. On my way back through today I ordered again for pick-up and my food was ready when I arrived and I was greeted like a regular by the same gentleman, Brandon I believe. Fantastic food! You HAVE TO try the cinnabon bites with cream cheese frosting dip. 8 for $2. I never tasted anything so good!! I also had the $7.99 filet of sole with broccoli and fruit. It was wonderful! So I got healthy food AND ate just 3 of those mini donuts! I am a happy happy woman. Our waitress also was very good. When we're in these parts we always stop here. read more

This is our second time here. I got the flounder and my wife got the chicken pot pie with biscuits. Everything was very good, and well seasoned. Service was fast, and it all tasted homemade. My flounder fish was $10.99, which was too much considering the pot pie was only $6. Other than the seemingly random pricing, I don't have anything bad to say about this location. It's Father's Day and we're headed home from vacation. "It's Bob Evan's!" Said the kids as we got off the ramp at Breezewood. We quit going to the one at home due to slow service and the declining quality of food. Nevertheless my vacation mind says, "sure, why not give it a shot, were making great time!" Get in the door to find a little country store ala Cracker Barrel. Put our name in and we're told 5 minutes. Ok that's fine, it seems fairly busy in the waiting room, I'm skeptical, but 5 minutes isn't that bad! 15 minutes later our name is called! Horaay! Unfortunately, we walk to a table I have watched sit open for the preceding 15 minutes. To my dismay, there are a dozen open tables?! Why is there a wait at all? Why did only 3 other groups get called before my party of 4? This should have been my clue, things that don't look right usually aren't. Within a couple of minutes, a waitress literally runs by and says, "I'll be back in a minute to get your drink order!" Great! It seems we have a waitress who is a hustler! Things are looking up! 10 minutes later, my wife says, "do you want to go somewhere else? It seems like it's been a really long minute." I know "in a minute" doesn't mean exactly a minute, but 10 is stretching it.... Our waitress appears and takes our drink and dinner order. At the same time she apologizes for the delay because "she trying to do two tables at the same time and it just doesn't work out well." Now, mind you she has a "shift leader" name tag on.... I'm not sure, but two tables at once seems fairly standard. Another warning sign. At this point I started the timer on my phone, because I wanted to be sure I wasn't short changing the waitress who was by all accounts literally running around the restaurant. I don't think our order is unusually filled with special requests/long cook time items. Strawberry crepes, a salad with chicken on it, and two kids meals with pancakes, eggs and bacon. After 20 minutes, frustration has set in for my wife, who can see her salad and the boys food sitting in the window. Maybe they're waiting for the chicken to cook? Maybe they have to dress the chicken first?? Maybe they have hens in the back and need to lay a few eggs to scramble for my boys plates? At any rate, 25 minutes in, there's a pow wow at the window with what seems to be the distracted/uninterested in helping his obviously overwhelmed staff manager. 28 minutes in, the pow wow is over and my family has decided they will stay until 30 minutes. 30 minutes comes and goes, we stand to leave as another waiter and waitress come out with our food. When I say take it back we're leaving, the girl says under her breathe, " I don't blame you!" As we leave I say something to the manager that 30 plus minutes is ridiculous to wait for food. He looks at me, asks me to repeat it, because he was dealing with another angry customer. When I repeat it's crazy to wait that long, his incredulous reply to me is "you know it's Father's Day right?!" Ahhh, yes.... I must have missed that... since you know I was there with my family. My question to him is does HE know it's Father's Day?!? Did he not schedule enough people to work? It seems like I was t the only one having problems with getting food. As I was leaving I told another couple going in how slow the service was and the husband says, "damn, not again!" We stopped at this Bob Evans on the last leg of our trip home around 7:45. After a poor and delayed greeting, the host made an unhappy face when I asked for a table for 2. As we were being seated, we overheard employees complaining that more people were coming in. Thankfully, our waiter, John, was courteous, quick, and helpful. Unfortunately the food was pretty mediocre, and my mac and cheese was cold in places. Also, there was a large table next to us which remained dirty the entire time we were there. This place was really not that busy. When we went to the cash register to pay the bill, there was nobody there. When Carolyn showed up to check us out, she and another girl walked over to the other computer without even motioning or mentioning that she would take us on the other side of the counter.
