The service was quick and they have many items to offer on the menu. Overall I was pleased with the meal, but it wasn't the greatest food offerings around. They have a little store attached where you can buy quilts, clothing, merchandise and other nick nacks and things. We came up to go the Mexican place but it was closed. Traditions was suggested to us so we went. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The facility is very nice, super clean, bright and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took a little before we got served but once the server got to us she was great and everything flowed from there. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with pepperjack, mayo on the side and onion rings. The food was out in under 10 minutes and the portions were generous to say the least. The chicken sandwich was great and the onion rings were nice and crisp. It was a very good meal. She wanted to know if we wanted desert but I was full and that was it. We had a great experience at Traditions. The food was excellent and prices were reasonable. They offer a great selection of Pennsylvania Dutch fare and other American comfort foods. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, along with ham and bean soup. The meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and everything else was just as good. My wife had the grilled chicken cordon bleu with buttery broccoli (perfectly cooked) and potatoes topped with outstanding chicken gravy. The restaurant food was delicious, my son enjoying their salmon entree (the aeoli tartar sauce particularly enjoyed by the lad), while I opted for the turkey, "just like on the menu", as our pleasant server suggested. Very good. The service was great and the lady who waited on us always had a smile. You could tell it was genuine which made our meal even more pleasant. My cousin and I had the same meal, the Hot Reuben sandwhich with a side of broccoli that was cooked perfectly and topped with butter. You don't usually see broccoli with butter, it's almost always steamed and plain. We also decided to split an appetizer of pierogies which were very delicious. I'd have those again in a heartbeat. What a great family and homemade food spot! We arrived during a busy holiday morning breakfast rush and opted to sit outside - so we had a bit of a wait. No problem!! There is a cute gift shop and general store attached. We quickly spent our 15 minute wait browsing some great items! Once we were seated our server was fast and attentive. Coffee was delicious and refilled often. Food came quickly and was excellent - lots of choices all fresh and homemade! The bread....OMG the bread!! Get the breads! I had rye and it was fantastic. I ate at Traditions twice while visiting the Martinsburg/Roaring Spring area, plus purchased some baked goods. Everything was awesome, absolutely delicious. Although I only had a pecan sticky roll for breakfast, it was so good, rich, and filling that I could only eat half of it. A few days later, I enjoyed corn rivel soup since I can't get it in the Southwest, and it was just as good as I remembered. Then my lunch of a hot turkey sandwich was just like "mom would make", nice slices of white meat and yummy mashed potatoes and gravy. Since I needed a to-go box, our fantastic waitress was kind enough to give me extra gravy also. One of my favorite bakery items was the raisin filled cookies which tasted almost like the ones my mother used to make, maybe even better. The pastry part just melted in your mouth! The food has really gone down hill in the last year. I went for my favorite Stuffed Green Peppers today and it was poor. I'm a person who likes salty foods, but I've found my limit. The gravy on the mashed potatoes was lethal. Left me with a thirst and a bad headache. Same for the Broccoli and Cheese soap I had the time before. My family likes to go there, but I don't. They do complain about the amount of salt too, so they just tell them to hold the gravy. Not a place to eat for people with high blood pressure. read more

Came here a few weeks ago for a family dinner out while visiting home. I have been here one other time a year or so ago for breakfast - which was not very good - our food was cold, eggs were rubbery, they were out of items that came with our breakfast entrees etc. BUT this time around I was pleasantly surprised with how great everything was. We had a large party of about 15 and the waitress did SUCH a wonderful job for having such a large table. She was quick with orders, didn't miss a thing, friendly, and never let water glasses go empty. I'm thinking this place is much better known for their baked goods, lunch and dinner than for breakfast - our dinner was far better than my first time around breakfast experience. I went with the chef's special chicken sandwich for dinner which was chicken breast (not dry at all), greens, tomato, a sweet and sour honey mustard sauce and sweet potato fries ON the sandwich with a homemade pretzel roll. SO good. I would definitely recommend anything "sandwich" related as all of their breads and rolls are homemade daily. My sister got an enormous and amazing turkey club on homemade bread with house seasoned curly fries which also looked great. My side of homemade Mac and cheese also did not disappoint. Overall, this place has really solid homemade food - like your grandmama would make! It's totally worth a visit if you're in the area. They also had enormous fresh baked GOBS in the bakery that I sadly passed up but they looked incredible. They had seasonal (red, white and blue for July) as well as the standard peanut-butter cream filled, vanilla cream filled, vanilla, and even pumpkin gobs on deck! We have eaten here on three separate occasions now, and haven't been disappointed at all. The portions are huge, the service is fast, the environment inviting, and the food tastes delicious. At this particular visit, I had their pork tenderloin special and left full. My wife ordered the chicken parm and was equally happy. We also added a side salad, which was large enough to serve as an entree itself, and the fried zucchini appetizer. We ordered a piece of the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake to take home for dessert. Since we were sitting outside, we had the ambiance of the outdoor waterfall to soothe us as well as seeing airplanes taking off from the neighboring airport. What an enjoyable dinner! Stopped here since we were going to a football game nearby, at around 5:30 no wait to be seated. Our waitress Terry was very nice and attentive. There is a store that I wanted to spend more time in but had to leave and a wonderful little bakery! Our waitress brought our fresh baked bread and butter and apple butter was on the table, I thought that was a really nice plus. My husbands crab bisque was absolutely delicious. My coleslaw/home made Tatar sauce were super good and no complaints about my fish sandwich either. My husband wasn't a fan of the Turkey gravy over bread but that could be just his personal preference and my daughter for the Buffalo Mac n cheese sandwich and said she really liked it but not the bread? She's 11 and picky lol. We choose curly fries for our side yum! And I got a s'mores pie for dessert, good but super sweet. I have to give a shoutout to a restaurant from my hometown. It didn't exist when I lived there, but now that it does I tend to stop in maybe once a year around Thanksgiving when I'm home. Yes, Traditions has become a bit of a tradition. I've had a number of items on their menu, including the shrimp soaked in a butter garlic sauce, filling (this is a Central PA term for stuffing - trivia!), pierogies (which spellcheck does not seem to recognize; it autocorrects to groupies), and the delectable crab bisque. Everything I've had has been super tasty. I was there yesterday with two friends who got various soups and salads -I remember one was the house salad - and they also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. BTW, if you've never been to the area, just a note that you shouldn't expect happy hour specials or anything. The town is as dry as a bone. read more

Came here on a Tuesday night for dinner with my parents. The place looked like it was newly made or atleast newly renovated. Very clean and well maintained from the interior as well. Outdoor seating/view was very nice and my understanding is that there is a fireplace too (visible from where we were seated). Issues arise in meals. I ordered the Cod Filet with Mac & cheese and sweet potato fries as my sides. The fish was done properly with an alright sauté but the sides? Ehh... The aesthetic of the sides were the only good thing about it. The Mac and cheese was the white cheese type (or supposed to be) but was very bland and pasty. Sweet potato fries seemed like they were frozen and straight tossed into the fryer. The outside was dry and almost burnt while the inside felt watery and soft. Maybe some people like salted soggy/burnt fries but I personally wasn't a fan. I would recommend the cod but definitely stay away from the two sides I had mentioned. My dad loved the fried haddock sandwich w/curly fries. While my mom was disappointed in the broiled haddock sandwich w/chicken soup. Main thing is that the aesthetic of the meal is the selling point in my opinion. Aesthetics would be enough to drive a person to come once but a long term customer? No thanks but definitely would recommend people to try out and see if there experience is any better! read more

The best turkey platter dinner, good amount of turkey, 2 sides, lots of good gravy, only thing missing was some cranberry sauce. Careful! Hadn't been here in awhile but used to come regularly. I had high hopes for this place but I can't say I'm feeling anything but disappointed. Quality has definitely taken a hit since I was last here. My drink tasted soapy and when I informed the waitress/ got water instead, I was still charged $3 for taking one sip! My steak came out as well done as leather (asked for med rare) much to the visible annoyance of the waitress. I hate sending things back but this is a $24 steak so I'm not gonna eat leather! Even when it came out a second time it wasn't anywhere near medium rare but I wasn't sending a steak back a second time. To top it off we weren't the only table with issues in the 40 minutes we were here, we sat in earshot of another group having issues with food coming out wrong that even asked to speak to a manager (which we elected not to do). To me this clearly shows a lack of care/ consistency in the kitchen, and is beyond disappointing especially considering the price. The only positives I can derive from this experience is our waitress was friendly enough and the side salad was good.
