I grew up on Bob Evans as a go to place for breakfasts and even dinner as a kid. It saddens me to see that this place has changed so much in 30 years that they no longer know how to even make eggs. Recently we went here for breakfast and I asked for poached eggs. They brought out an over cooked sunny side up egg with the edges very crispy and fried up and insisted that it was poached. I looked at them incredulously and said, that's ok. That certainly not a poached egg and I don't want to eat it. A week later, my girl friend and I met in Stafford for breakfast..and its either iHop or Bob Evans, so again... here we went. I asked the server for a poached egg and she looked at me and said, "we don't poach eggs here." LOL. At least she was honest about the fact that they don't do poached eggs. The restaurant got an overhaul in trying to update its image. However, it fails to deliver on the quality of food. Essentially service is a hit or miss. It was a hit in Stafford, a miss in Chantilly. I gave Bob Evans one star because it has really good food and that's it. Mike "the manager" has improperly trained his employees, who are high school students. This is suppose to be a learning experience, but instead having these teenagers work in poor conditions. Remind you it's still a pandemic and the COVID Delta/Plus is super real, there's no air circulation inside the restaurant. The employees are working under humid conditions and as a customer I've experienced it; sitting, waiting for my food and feeling uncomfortably hot. No one should be working like that. And not once did Mike come around to ask about our experience. Or the few times I've been walk up behind these new waiters to ensure they are giving good customer service. I've noticed he stands in one corner and dictates which food goes to what table. read more

On a recent trip I received great service. They decorated my daughter's pancake and she loved it. My pancakes were great and they kindly substituted toast for sausage or bacon since I didn't want meat. I prefer this restaurant to IHOP. read more

These place is racist, atleast towards me . I'm black , and twice I came in before a white family of four to be served and their food come out way before me. When I complained it's like they do t really find it an issue .i don't see the waiter being penalized for that. I guess if you black this place won't treat you like a first class customer compared to the white customers .. It's a pity coz coz some of us blacks will tip way more than you white friends... Like any other Bob Evans, the sausage was great! However, for some reason I just didn't like it as much as the other branches, maybe it was because my hash browns were a little soggy. The waitress to her credit was great even though she had to serve 1/2 the resaurant by herself. She felt so bad about not refilling my coffee she asked if I wanted one to go. We stopped here for breakfast on 04/03/11. It was right around noon, so there was a bit of a wait. We were seated and my wife went to get a high chair for our 16 mo old daughter but someone told her that she could not use it at our booth because it was a fire hazard. Well we told the hostess that we would need a high chair, one would think that she would have seated us at a location where we would be able to use one. They did have booster seats, so that would work out fine. My wife ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon, french toast with a sausage link for our daughter and I got The Homestead Breakfast, which consists of two eggs, hash browns or home fries, breakfast meat, and two biscuits with sausage gravy My wife's pancakes were huge and I was surprised that the gravy for the biscuits was brown (I was expecting white). It was all good though and we left full and even took home one of the pancakes and half of my daughter's french toast. read more

Sometimes I really crave sausage gravy and biscuits and I have to come here. Last time I made the mistake of ordering a crepe, which came with some thick goopy bright purple "blueberry" topping. No. Sausage gravy and biscuits is where it's at! Service is weird sometimes but generally the wait isn't too bad even when the wait area is packed. I stopped here for a quick bite to eat before a morning meeting. I was able to get a table rather quickly. Once the waiter brought my menu to me I really felt a little bit rushed. I ordered my drink and he wasn't gone even 2 minutes and came back and asked if I was ready to order. So I went ahead and ordered pancakes. The food was brought out and they were hot and tasted really good. It was refreshing to have food I could actually eat unlike a prior breakfast I went to. 45 minutes after placing order for 2 eggs and still waiting. 10:30 on a weekday. Restaurant maybe half full. Not good.

So, we went to this location at 9:00pm. They close at 10, so we didn't think it would be too close to time. We took a moment to order, but once we did, the server never came back. She charged for a hot chocolate and soda .. That she NEVER refilled. It may have been rude, but we stacked the cups just to see if she'd notice. Nope. Didn't even offer. After about 35 minutes, we just gave up. A friend in our party ordered the chicken pot pie. The salad and biscuits never came out. My friend politely asked. The server continued to argue that a salad didn't come with it.. "But ugh, what dressing do you want anyway?" .. Worst service I've ever had anywhere. I do understand this is Bob Evans.. Don't people come here for constancy? You couldn't even refill?! ...our food came out after about 35 minutes. They had to "reheat the soup for a minute".. I should have just said no. Sadly my reheated soup was the best out of all the food. She never returned after the food(which was maybe the second time she came back) .. But then hopped over and had no problem slamming the check to the table. I guess she did say "Sorry for the problems" quickly, but shit. I realize people have bad nights. I realize we were laughing when you came up. But guess what, Susan? Most of the time service is Ok. Food was always good, but the only thing I don't like is that the personnel don't cover their hair while running with open plates of food. I only saw a couple of cooks with baseball hats! Yeah, big improvement! They should follow Sweet Water Taverns' example. If you're a table greater than 2 people, don't expect to be treated like actual customers. We came in this morning for breakfast with a party of 4 adults and one child. They proceeded to seat 8 tables of 2 prior to even considering seating us. When we asked why they had seated folks who just walked in vs. accommodating our party who had been waiting for 30 minutes, they weren't helpful so we left. Service sucks!! Slow slow slow, they server don't even check on the table. They think you got all the time in the world to seat there and wait for them whenever they want to check on you. While all the server just stand there and talking. If I did not walk up to her she will never check on us. Very annoying. If you like basic, this is your place. I enjoy simplicity but not basic. To be truthful, this is real boring place to eat for the young adults and children audience. The decor is like grandma's pie shop with the open table full of pastries at the front register, bland colored walls, red and white checked cloths, and wooden frame booths. I wouldn't be surprised if the bathrooms are western or farmhouse decor. Not sure who thought of that decor for Bob Evans, but it's not interesting---You can only hope the food is. The menu wasn't enticing. The PR for Bob Evans needs a better camera. The pictures didn't make the food look good. I looked front and back of the menu atleast 4 times before picking something based off the name and not the picture. It was barely anyone there when dining in so I was hoping the waiter would make adjustments with the cook if the food tasted bland like it looked on menu. The home style fried chicken tenders meal is okay. No sauce was served with it. The tenders tasted fine without the sauce surprisingly. The rolls was good with vegetable oil butter? Very interesting. My lemonade seemed homemade because I saw the lemon pulp in my mason jar cup. The Mac and cheese was bland and the mashed potatoes with chicken gravy I didn't care for. After eating the food, I was full but bloated for awhile. Oh and there were some very loud talking, giggling waitresses doing whatever behind a wooden wall with stained glass on top. The old Bob Evans ain't what it used to be. This is one of the few places in Chantilly where you can get a sit-down breakfast and good, old-fashioned American food any time of the day. The food is still pretty reliable. HOWEVER....this location is getting pretty rundown and the service is apathetic. Both are signs of BAD MANAGEMENT. The booths are rump-sprung so badly that you sit so low to the table you feel like a little kid at the big people table. The carpets are musty and the whole place smells unclean. Today, we sat for 15 minutes without being greeted or an order taken while the entire wait staff stood around and gossiped, or walked past several time without so much as a glance in our direction. I used to go out to eat often. The fact that I go out to eat often means I don't remember many places. I remember the really good place and the really badddddd places. Every now and then, I have lazy Sundays where I don't feel like physically opening the fridge and making myself breakfast. Cause that's too hard! So one Sunday, my SO and I drove to this Bob Evans. My South Western Omelet was pretty rainbow colored. It was covered in grease and it was a predicament to come. Though, The waiter kindly took that order off the receipt. Couple hours later, I raced to the bathroom. There was a sporting event going in my stomach. Rounds, after rounds of explosive diarrhea. I got up looked at my rainbow colored poop. The winner was the Bob Evan's South Western Omelet. Every time I've gone to this place, I've gotten the shits from them. read more

This was my first time to this restaurant even though i've driven past it at least a hundred times. It's pretty conveniently located near the intersection of Routes 50 and 28. My husband and I stopped in for a late breakfast. He ordered some kind of southwestern scambler (which was really good) and I ordered a la carte (eggs, bacon and french toast). I have to admit, the food was good. The restaurant is also really clean and the staff was friendly and mostly quick with service. This restaurant draws alot of old people, but i think that's to be expected. I will visit again. read more

What a disappointment this evg. Used to go couple times a month for dinner and service and food was usually pretty decent and consistent. Not anymore. Hadn't been there for about 4 months and my friend and I found the menu had changed yet again where items they used to have (like their chopped steak) were no longer on the menu. Ordered a cup of potatoe soup to have before dinner but it never materialized. Saw waitress either eating or dancing. There was only 1 other table there besides us. Finally after about 20 minutes I flagged the waitress and told her to cancel my soup since the whole point was to have it before dinner. Finally, after almost 25 minutes the waitress brings out our orders but I could tell right off my order was wrong because it had fries with my order when it was supposed to come with mashed potatoes. I had to point that out to the waitress since I never even mentioned any substitutions plus ask her for refills on our drinks when it was obvious we needed refills. It took a couple minutes to get the mashed potatoes that I should have received in the first place and by the time she ever came back to check on us we were just about done with our dinners (mostly uneaten). Also, my order of country fried steak should have been served with a white gravy but instead it was a sausage gravy which tasted and looked like brown paste. All in all it was 2 very disatisfying dinners for $21 where we had to wait an awfully long time for an incorrect order and for terrible service so I will not be back anytime soon. (There used to be a manager that worked there that was very attentive and would check on everyone but no manager in sight that I could see). Here we were only one table and the other party that had been there prior to us left so the place has gone downhill. Big disappointment. read more
