I don't understand why this place got so many bad reviews, I came in at 7am and I had the country fried steak, sausage, biscuit and eggs. The biscuit was amazingly good and the sausage were what you would expect from a diner. The country fried steak itself was really good, very meaty with a thin coating of breading. What also stood out was the manager who was helping train a new cook, I heard her giving great instructions on how to properly prepare the food. This was my first Bob Evans experience. read more

It's hard to mess up ham, and they didn't. It was fine, along with the other sides and desserts (except the green beans were overcooked, but my husband says that's to be expected in this country). We were thankful to find a restaurant open on Thanksgiving, even if the menu was limited. We both chose non-turkey options (ham platter and country fried steak breakfast) so we could save our T-Day stomachs for the main event later in the day, after we had arrived at his family's house. Service was fast and friendly. Gender-segregated restrooms are back in the gas station convenience store, where they also have a beer cave, thus saving my rear end, since I had forgotten to grab a bottle of wine for dinner and was able to find something that wasn't Bare Foot to bring tonight. read more

I was really disappointed with this visit to the Bob Evans location in Newark today. My last visit to the Westerville- Huber Ridge restaurant was an incredible adventure! However, the visit today at Newark was pitiful! I ordered the the same breakfast that I had on my last visit. That same breakfast at this location didn't even resemble the Everything Breakfast that I had ordered at the Westerville restaurant! I was still hungry because of the size of the portion. There was a difference in the bread served at Newark! I received a flattened biscuit that was hard and flavorless and impossible to chew! At the Bob Evans in Westerville, the breakfast was served with a grilled slice brioche toast! That was yummy. I spoke with the manager after I had to request butter for the flattened biscuit because I was willing to give it a try. One bite and I knew that I just couldn't do it. The restaurant itself was clean and busy. Our server, Kayla, was sweet and personable! We were speaking with her, and she had worked there for close to twenty years, including "baby breaks". She's a great asset to this restaurant! I'm hoping that the difference between your restaurants are able to be resolved! read more

I would give this location ZERO stars if possible. The service here is HORRIBLE, and has been almost every time I come. In fairness, I've given this place several chances, with several different servers and the experience is typically always the same, CONSISTENTLY POOR SERVICE, with one noted exception that I can recall. It's been over a year since I risked coming here again, but I stopped in for lunch today, ordering a salad and water. It was literally less than 20 people in the entire restaurant, however after 40 minutes of waiting for my order, I flagged my server down and asked what could possibly be taking so long. He went to check and 43 minutes after taking my seat, miraculously he returns with a food laden tray stating my salad 'just came up'.....one snafu, it was not the salad I ordered.....simply incredible. 45 minute wait for the wrong salad. This. Is. Not. Rocket. Science. I asked to speak with the manager, of course.....NOPE, he didn't bother to come out. I guess that was too much to expect that the manager would actually care about the customer experience. My server brought me the correct salad packaged in a 'to go' container and said 'My manager has taken care of the bill, do you still need to speak to him'. I almost laughed out loud, but civilly responded 'No.....no I don't', took the salad and walked out. There are limited lunch options in this town, it's unfortunate that this one doesn't appreciate that it has a 'captive audience'......or maybe they do and are simply taking its patronage for granted. Hmmmmmm,...... it would certainly explain the consistently bad service here with zero effort to remedy it. Post Covid this little secret was amazing, even during last summer was great! My first visit since returning back to Ohio, I constantly order from these places for family/friends while I am gone so... This visit was on a Thursday evening around 6pm, only 2 other tables in the place no orders to go on rack. Vary empty, I ordered my Ultimate Meal with soup/pie to go. Was seated 2nd but serviced third as another table was seated 7 minutes after my arrival to my table. Sad but maybe server didn't see my table which must of been the case as even after our server took our order we were constantly forgotten. Never got a drink refill unlike the 3 refills the 3rd table received. My meal was ready before 3rd table but sat in window until after 3rd table was delivered. ? Strange the 3rd table is past mine so server had to pass our empty glasses before going above and beyond for the young ladies seated at the table diagonal from ours. Funny, we ordered a simple chicken finger and noodles chicken ultimate meals with the "ultimate" portion to go. Server never came back around after delivering meal as my buttered broccoli was missing the butter. Everything would have been greatly appreciated if it was served hot and we were seated 7 minutes before the 3rd table. WOW! We ended up walking to the cash register without even a ticket as again we were forgotten. The cashier had to get server to get our to-go soup and pie ready. The service blew my mind as this was once my favorite place to order from for my local boys. You lost me on service alone; I wasn't hiding under the table and there were 2 servers working 3 tables with the occasional online order. read more

Unfortunately, this location is quickly developing a bad rap. We stopped by here on a Monday evening, got seated and our drink order was taken and served, however that was the last we saw of our waitress for the next 12 mins. I know, I know, your thinking "they must have been busy." They were not, 5 other groups were there as well, with 3 waiter/waitress's it wasn't slammed! Now the bad part, three other groups came in, got seated, drinks were given, AND food orders were taken, and we waited. Finally my father-in-law said, let's get out of here! So we left, and my wife, God love her, found the manager and told him what had happened, his response was "I'm sorry ma'am." We arrived here around 10:30 am on a Friday. My wife ordered a diet coke and I ordered a coffee. My wife could not drink her diet because it tasted bad. Not enough carbonation. Coke gives you instructions and a Brix kit. Use it! My wife ordered the pot roast hash. It came to the bar area were we we're sitting and she also brought the biscuits that we noticed were sitting on the table for 10 minutes. My wife asked for new biscuits and the waitress brought some fresh ones. Her over medium eggs on the top of the pot roast was basically a hard boiled egg. Now on to my meal. I ordered the border scramble omelet with white toast. The first thing I noticed was the toast. It looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for about 45 minutes. It was so dry that I had trouble swallowing it. The omelet was sitting in a pool of grease that I am guessing was from the sausage that was on top. I ordered the hash browns instead of the redskin potatoes that I usually get. Big mistake! Soggy and not crispy. The management and the upper management really need to get involved here. This is a nice-looking Bob Evan's from the outside, and looks nice enough on the inside. Just like the one in neighboring Heath, Ohio -- and in numerous other towns around Ohio. However, the food here is way below normal Bob Evan's standards. It probably comes down to the management. Several employees were smoking in the back of the restaurant (you must enter and exit from the back). My wife's salad was mostly brown and wilted. Gross. We asked for them to send out a new one and they did. That one looked a bit better. I got the turkey dinner. It was cold when it arrived. One section of turkey was hard, like shoe leather. My wife got the salmon dinner. No lemon. Just a dried out piece of salmon. And a dried out, over-cooked baked potato. I felt like I was in Bob Evan's hell. This is the restaurant you'll go to if you are bad when you die. I'll be avoiding this particular Bob Evan's from now on. read more

We recently relocated to Ohio and decided to try true "native" food today and visited the local Bob Evans. The restaurant was busy, the hostess was kind and attentive and the tables and floor appeared well-kept. Our service was literally the worst restaurant service I have ever had in my entire life. Our server just could not get it together. I am generally not a needy or annoying customer-- but I had to ask for silverware, milk for coffee, a refill, a plate (three times because it never came and my toddler was sharing my meal), our ticket, for the plates to be taken from our table (we stacked them up on the end and they just sat stacked for at least 5 minutes). She also didn't know the "Golden Rule of Being a Waitress" which is don't let the pitcher touch the glass when you are pouring coffee. I watched as she contaminated our entire section of the restaurant. Oh! And rather comically when she got part of my order wrong (scrambled cheese eggs) she brushed it off and said, "I can just bring you a side of shredded cheese". Um... sure, that will taste as good as melted cheese on hot eggs... and since these eggs have been sitting for ten minutes while I waited on the plate I asked you to bring me three times... Sure... We were sad to discover that the highly-rated Souper Sammie's had closed, and with little time to explore, we had to pick Bob Evans. The first thing I noticed when we walked in were two large decorative plaques with (to me, creepily propagandistic) slogans: "families will always be glad they shared a table with us," and "we treat strangers like friends, and friends like family." I can say definitively that neither of these were true for us. - Service: amusingly bad. The sassy older waitress was snippy about taking our food orders at the same time as our drink orders ("Is that okay?" "Well, I guess it'll have to be!"). She also forgot a few drinks and brought the cream for my coffee substantially after the coffee itself. Everything took forever. Oh well. - Food: largely mediocre. The eggs were chewy and inedible, the sausage was ok, the home browns were tasty but soft (where dem crispy edges at?!). On the other hand, the biscuits were amazing. We had breakfast here while visiting family in Newark. I had eggs, sausage and pancakes. I couldn't eat it all, but it was good. The service was good and everything was clean. We didn't use the bathrooms. One thing about the location. Our phone gps took us west on 16, but there was no exit and we had to do a u-turn and come back to Cherry Valley Road. Best Bob Evans I've ever been to! I had the pick 3 dinner and boy it was a big order!! Good food for the price $9.99! I don't know why people are writing negative reviews. You can get a very nice breakfast here for $6-$8, service was fast and nice, bottomless coffee, nice interior. This is probably the best breakfast place in the Granville Newark area, and as a chain it's clearly better than Tim Horton's, Denny's, or Applebee's. I'll definitely be back. read more

When I travel, I always look for a Bob Evans as they are not in Colorado. I always have an excellent meal, but not this time. It was horrible. The Pot Roast was WAY too salty and was served in a terrible, sloppy manner. These called "grilled" onions were literally just raw onion. The Chicken Noodle soup I love was horrible (for the first time). Whoever the cook is, they must have stock in a salt company because they used WAY (and I mean WAY, WAY) too much. Yuck. read more

We went to Bob Evans on Cherry Valley Rd last night and had a terrible waitress/restaurant experience. No silverware until after the meal was served. I ordered a salad before my meal and never got it. Ordered rolls and never got them. The meal came with dessert. The waitress brought our bill and I ask about dessert. She said "you can pick up something when you pay the bill." The food took ages and my husband's spaghetti sat under the light for 10 minutes before they brought it to him. I got a sweet potato that was cold and "way" overcooked. (possibly a reheat or something). All in all the food was a "2" the service was "0" We didn't leave a tip and told the waitress why. read more

Food is messed up every single time I come to this location. Front counter was arguing with me because I asked for country gravy with no sausage and when I called my boss to confirm his order I could hear the counter girl and guy talking poorly about me. Absolutely ridiculous! Picked up a to-go order after waiting 50 minutes on it. Everything was sitting on the counter the whole time but no one wanted to take 30 seconds to put it in a bag. Worst Bob Evans I have EVER been to. My husband and I have been here several times as we are always hoping our next experience will be a good one. That has never happened. Last week was the final straw. We were seated right away and after 10 min of waiting for a server to even approach our table we got up and left. The service here is horrendous and management has no clue how to run a restaurant with customer service. If you can get served the food is typical bob Evans food and is fine, it's the lack of service that should have you going elsewhere. I stopped in on my way to a dinner party, and decided to get a pie for dessert. I got a peanut butter pie, waited 5 minutes to even be greeted. Once I purchased it I sat around for about 15 minutes with no pie, when I went to see where it was the hostess informed me that there were none made, and that they had to make it from scratch; which is fine, but it would've been nice to know that before I had waited for 15 minutes already. I was told at that time it would only be 5 more minutes, 10 minutes pass by, and still no pie. The manager Beatrice said it would be out any minute. Finally I got my pie, she just asked if I wanted a sack and then went on with her conversation. She didn't offer any kind of compensation for my wait, or the fact that the hostess never told me there would be a wait to begin with. Poor customer service on all levels. Wait time for pie= 30 minutes, overall time = 35 minutes. If you're in a rush, or on your way somewhere, do not stop here! read more

What happened to Bob Evans? Twenty years ago people like me would drive great distances to go to a Bob Evans for breakfast. It seems since then they built restaurants everywhere and now they all pretty much suck. I thought this one would be different. It looked newer and clean, but the food was not edible. I so much wanted to enjoy a traditional "rise and shine" breakfast. Eggs were cold, sausage greasy, hash browns saturated in grease and toast slathered in butter to the extent you couldn't eat it. Really disappointing. My wife got a biscuit with her order that was uncooked. $20 for a breakfast you couldn't eat isn't going to cut it. I realize these old school breakfasts aren't the model of healthy living, but they should be able to minimize the grease intake on a common breakfast. Just left the bob Evans on cherry valley today in Newark Ohio. I have to say this is the second horrible experience we have had here and will never be back. I ordered a cheese and bacon omelet and it came out with one piece of cheese melted on top and bacon inside with no cheese. I sent it back and received a second which the egg was under cooked. When I brought it to their attention their response was " we hurried to get it out to u" ummmmmm salmonella poisoning. I would not recommend going to this bob Evans as I said before this was our second bad experience and there will not be a third. read more

We have been to this location several times (5-8x) over the last 2 years. We live locally and enjoy Bob Evans, but this location has been a disappointment. We have walked out 2-3x, after waiting 10-15 min for service. We have had 2 comped meals, because we didn't receive our food for 45 min. Their staff has turned over at least 3x in the last year. I stopped at Bob Evans last week for an early dinner. Thinking it would be quiet and good. What a surprise! First I sat at the table for at least 15 minutes with no one to wait on me in sight. The place was not busy either. Finally she comes, takes my order. I then wait and wait. Not her fault. The food comes and YUCK!!!!!! That is about the nicest thing I can say! My so called omelet was flat, brown looking and the things that were supposed to be on the inside, we're all on top. The crumbled bacon was raw, tomatoes were yellow. The green pepper was okay, but there was only one of them so I guess it would be hard to mess that up. I asked for the manager. He finally waddled over about 15 minutes later and just stares at me. I spoke and asked if he would eat that. Once again he stares at me with the deer in the headlight look. Finally he asks "what do you want me to do?" I live approx.1 mile from cherry valley rd Newark bob Evans .When we moved in a couple months ago we were looking forward to dining here a couple times a week,however after this last meal I ordered carry out,I will drive 5 miles to a different restaurants.The last few meals I did order something was always not up to par.Thistime I ordered broasted chicken with green beans,fries and biscuits.First I took out the biscuits one was hard has a rock the other one I put in the microwave to see if I could soften it up enough to be eatable.it ended up in the trash!next I tried the chicken,the chicken wing was so dried out it followed the biscuits to the trash,then I bit into the breast.it was also dried out but I did eat about half of it,with a lot of water to wash it down.green beans were fine and the fries not too bad.This is the first time I have ever written a review but was compelled to do it this time because I am getting so tired of places like this after they get established they try to save money by serving crap!The real Bob Evans would be so upset if he came back and saw what kind of food they serve know! read more
