We came in on a Sunday a little after 12 pm, so we knew it was going to be packed. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait so we decided to put our name down. 20 minutes turned into almost a hour before we were seated which if we had known that prior, we would not have put our name down. Once seated, we saw our waitress three times: to order, to drop off our water, and to drop off our food. My boyfriend only had water for the first ten minutes, no refill. When the food came, my scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery, my boyfriends biscuits were as hard as a rock, and I was left with the saddest scoop of breakfast potatoes. Would not recommend if you want fast or friendly service. Truly surprised that a breakfast place can't make a good scrambled egg! read more

A pretty standard small Bob Evans. Typical menu: lots of breakfast, plenty of lunch and dinner items. We came in at noon on a weekday and it was pretty busy, but we were seated immediately and things had quieted down by 1pm. Sweetie had pancakes and bacon- both good, and big portions. I went with a "wildfire chicken" salad: iceberg, tomatoes, the usual generic salad, plus fried chicken chunks with BBQ sauce. Huge portion, very tasty. Also tried the new candied bacon. Meh. Not much for $4, and not nearly as good as at other places (to be fair, local, craft places, but still.) Service was good. Prices are a bit high for the quality. Amanda (manager from Bob Evan's Oxford) is my new favorite person! My Freshman daughter has been sick with a cold since she's gotten to Miami. I had to tell her that Our 11 year old dog unfortunately died today and she was crying in the stairwell cuz her roommate was in the room studying. I tried to order door dash chicken noodle soup from Bob Evan's in Oxford OH, but DoorDash wouldn't deliver it today since they were closing in 30 min. I called and spoke to the manager named Amanda and told her my story and that I was calling from CA. She asked an employee if she paid him $5 would he deliver soup, biscuits and pumpkin pie and then told me it was on her when I tried to pay over the phone. So sweet, it made me cry and I'm still crying about it. I told her I'm coming to Oxford at the end of the month to find her. My daughter said the chicken soup was great and just what she needed and that the pumpkin pie was the best pie she had ever had and she's had a lot of pies in her 18 years! It isn't bursting with flavor, but that's not why you come to the Bevans. You come here for slightly greasy and hearty portions of good-enough breakfast and lunch. The fries are not that good. I went here twice with five other people over Memorial Day weekend. Our group was completely obnoxious the entire time: spilling drinks and cursing and making a complete scene and the staff, namely Sandy and Judy, did nothing but a top notch job with bright shining smiles plastered on their faces the whole time, though I'm sure deep down they probably wanted us to leave as soon as possible. I have probably been to Bob Evans 1,937 or so times in my life. Many good experiences, many terrible experiences. As far as Bob Evans goes, this was one of the better! My husband and I came on a Saturday morning around 9:30. Usually you have to wait for a table at Bob Evans at that hour, but the restaurant was only about half full. Our server was super friendly and personable. She checked on us often and returned promptly with our requests. I ordered the Rise and Shine and my husband ordered the Homestead. I always order eggs over-medium, which seemed to be lost on Bob Evans for a while and I resorted to ordering scrambled. This time though, I took a chance and they delivered! Perfect over-medium eggs. Same for my husband. The home fries, one of my favorite parts of a BE breakfast, were cooked perfectly also. Crispy on the outside, just cooked enough on the inside. This place is terrible. Service is slow (if you even get any service at all). There have been times where we were seated and waited several minutes to be served (even when the restaurant was almost empty). A few times it was because the workers were sitting around and gossiping. Don't ask for alterations (such as no bacon on loaded hash browns) because they have always messed it up when I do. Waiters can be rude at times. The last two times I have come here it was because I was invited with family. I never come in here willingly on my own. Since we had our 2 year old grandson and it was fairly early for the evening meal we decided on Bob Evans, known for family dining and extensive menu for the little one. We should have left as the chaos at the front door was clearly a red flag. The worn out looking 15 year old hostess was enough. It took her 4 attempts to remember party of two, one high chair. The restaurant was chaotic - flatware on the floor, spilled ranch dressing and a view of the kitchen which where food, utensils and other prep items were on the floor. Ordered: Wildfire chicken salad, eggs, potatoes and bacon, and the blueberry pancake/sausage entree from the kids menu. Nutshell: The salad was served minus the chicken as "someone in the kitchen ate them." Dressing slopped all over the bowl. Potatoes were leftover, reheated, burnt and cold. Child's pancakes were too done. No refills on water or coffee. Chicken strips for salad finally arrived in a separate bowl covered in cold bbq sauce for me to cut and toss adding to half eaten salad. What was coming out of the kitchen was poorly made and not on time. Checkout: 6 couples trying to pay their bill and 2 people waiting on to-go orders. 3 families waiting to be seated. Manager at cash register experiencing difficulty with coupon on couples meal. Her clothes were wrinkled, hair unkept and literally overwhelmed announcing to all waiting "THESE COUPONS ARE MORE TROUBLE THAN WHAT THEY ARE WORTH!!!" Nice. She finally entered the charges correctly then left for the back, leaving a young girl to deal with the back log of customers in the front. Excellent manager. Recent dining experiences have taken me to try again the well known franchise establishments. My conclusion is eat at home then treat yourself to the pricey places where food, service and presentation are paramont. It is difficult to fathom how a restaurant like Bob Evan's with such a well established menu and patterns of preparation and practice within the kitchen could be so incompetent. I do not believe it's the wait staff as they always treat us well and seem to be quite competent. It must be the management! If you go in and sit down you can expect to get what you ordered. If, however, place a carryout order you should expect it to be screwed up! Tonight was the 5th time we ordered a carryout dinner and it was the 5th time that it was not worth the aggravation. This time I placed the order online rather than by phone. A simple "Fried Chicken Family Picnic Meal". Ten minutes after placing the order the restaurant called, "We don't have any fried chicken"! "You need to order something else." I asked if I could get a refund? "No but we can give you a store credit." I made substitutions because the store credit thing is a ridiculous farce. Speaking from experiance... this store does not provide store credits as you would expect. They do not provide BE gift certificates or BE gift cards. Rather they make a note and pin it to a wall somewhere back-of-house. Then they tell you to just let the wait staff know the next time your in. Invariably they can not find the note and the manager will not be available. As for tonight's meal. When I arrived to pick up the order it was not quite ready. They only had half a container of coleslaw and they needed to make more. It took 30 minutes to make coleslaw and the place was practically (90%) empty. I waited..........the food got cold........I got exasperated. Finally! Coleslaw was prepared and I quickly rushed home to everyone who was waiting to eat. Upon opening the food we found it was indeed cold! The container of green beans with ham was hamless and only 3/4 filled.... and the biscuits looked as if they'd been stepped on. In the past I would have called the store to complain and they would tell me that they can write out a store credit and pin it to the manager's wall -or- they will offer to replace any item but i will have to come and get it... My son and I have eaten at this Bob Evans twice. Once in December and once in February. Both times the service and the food were great. I do not understand the bad reviews for this location. They have good food, good prices and the waitresses are really wonderful. They take your order bring you great hot food in a timely manner and smile and check on you. Have been to this location a couple of times, and was terribly unimpressed both times. First time, was brought the wrong meal (after an extremely long wait), however I didn't say anything. Waitress was extremely slow to bring a check. Second time, besides me and my company, there were maybe 2 or 3 other parties dining. The waiter forgot about us which resulted in us waiting maybe 15-20 minutes before we were asked about drinks. Watched as another table told their waitress that they failed to receive the dessert they ordered and never received a check and so just wished to leave. I ordered a stack of pancakes with my meal but was never given them. Thankfully, I was not charged for them either but I guess I was not allowed to receive what I ordered. My meal was not the quality I had expected as I have been to other Bob Evans locations and had excellent food. These visits were several months apart so it seems that Oxford Bob Evans has failed to address their shortcomings. "Forgetful" wait staff, and generally bad kitchen staff have made this a location to avoid and I hope management decides to make some changes soon. read more

My friends and I were just looking for a nice breakfast to continue my long standing tradition of going out to breakfast the day before each Anthony Massa Official holiday. This was on July 3, in the year of our Lord, 2018. My acquaintance and I sat in a booth that was not properly assembled, the seat was not attached to the frame and slid off very easily and quite frequently. As we ordered beverages, anxiously awaiting to quench our thirst, we waited a solid 15 minutes to get our very complex beverages (coffee and water.) Then, once our beverages were finally served and we promptly ordered our food. 40 excruciating minutes later, as I write this review, we are still waiting for our food while facing serious hunger. Several hours later I received an email telling me the delivery was canceled because their driver never showed up!! I don't understand this place lately. I've been coming here for years for breakfast on Sundays and for the past 5-6 months there is a new trend. As I sit here looking around the dining room there are 8 empty tables but there is a 15-20 minute wait. There are two managers floating around, 2 hostess/cashiers. It has been this way for a while now. In addition, I've been waiting for 25+ minutes for our food. Very poor management going on here with a lack of direction. I ordered the turkey dinner special for carryout this evening. Most of the time this is a pretty good carryout meal. When I checked to make sure the order was correct in the bag I notice the turkey was extra brown and overcooked on the edges. So I told the girl at the counter who said they had a new chef. I thought to myself a new chef that doesn't know how to cook. They remade the meal that was a little less brown on the edge but the turkey was still extremely dry and without flavor. Maybe they need to hire a new chef. Also never order their biscuits for carryout. They always give you the ones that have been sitting there for a while and are usually hard as a rock. When you ask for fresh ones they always say you will have to wait 20 minutes for them. I agree with other negative comments made about this Bob Evans. If corporate is checking these comments they need to check out this restaurant in Oxford, Ohio because it is certainly going down in quality. This place is the worst. They get one star for being open. The second star I'd only because I didn't get food poisoning. I had a crappy meal here once, ordering bean soup and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. The bean soup was lukewarm and the sandwich easy too greasy. It was gross. But I figured it was just a fluke and came back a couple of months later to give it another try. Big mistake. I ordered Chicken and Noodle soup and half a Pot Roast sandwich. There was no broth in the soup and it was so salty that I was afraid for my blood pressure. The sandwich, grilled, had a piece of pot roast that was nothing but fat and gristle. Too gross to eat. Hello, this review is primarily directed to the curbside carry out. It stinks! My wife and I order their soups by the quart for an easy meal and they typically tell me 15-20 minutes and I swear to you it's every bit of 45 minutes to and hour before you receive it. Did I mention that their soups are made in large quantities and already fully cooked incase a seated customer wants to order some! So why does it take a hour to ladle out a quart of soup! WTF!!
