    All the food we ordered

All of the food was delicious. The restaurant was quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly. Our waitress came to check in on us every 5-10 minutes it seemed like. She served my mother coffee a few times. They also had highchairs for customers with small children. I used one for my 1 year old. He enjoyed it. It seemed to be a little old and dirty but it was clean enough for him to sit in it. The service was fast, we didn't wait for our food that long. This place is great for family. We will definitely be going back.

We were on a road trip from Chicago to Petoskey and before heading home needed a good hearty breakfast.

It was warm, delicious, very tasty , a bit spicy and served on a really good soft bun with crispy edges. Perfectly cooked the sandwiches are served with orange slices , which is a nice break from chips or fries ! They have numerous coffe and matcha drinks hotv& cold. I tried the cold match blackberry lemonade and it was good and my hubby had the matcha raspberry latte and he really liked his. You know it's a great place when you unexpectedly run into the bride eating there the morning after her wedding!!! The only thing keeping me from giving this restaurant 5 stars ( because the food quality IS there !) is the bathroom situation. There's a very tiny sing men's and women's with a sink to wash hands inbetween. I didn't mind the " closet bathroom stall - I minded the dirty floor and the fact that when I went to wash my hands in the shared sink outside the stall in between the bathrooms , barely any soap dispenses! I went under 4 x just to get enough soap to get the buffalo sauce off of my hands. This is concerning because it makes you wonder if the cooks are bothering to try to get any soap on their hands ?! . Roast and Toast : *Clean the bathroom floors and get a new soap dispenser and I bet you'll get the stars and reviews your food deserves !

They had a feature sandwich which blue cheese and bacon that I split with my husband we equally enjoyed every bite. I had their special Cherry Coffee Latte...yummo! They are busy as they make from scratch. The avocado toast was good and light but the Denver Breakfast wrap was perfect and hearty! My sis bought me the coffee container mug which is perfect for keeping coffee nice and hot for a couple of hours! Nice long space. The bathroom space is tight though.

This site mentions three things to consider when giving a review: food, service, and ambiance. I…read moream going to cover these three factors, but in the order that I perceived their importance at this restaurant. First off is ambiance. What I liked best about the ambiance was the music. It was pleasant and, most importantly, quiet enough to allow easy conversation with your fellow diners across a table or booth. Second in importance to my wife and I during our most recent visit to Southwoods was the food. My wife got the cod and shrimp special and said it was the BEST cod that she had ever eaten - and she loves her fish - and that the shrimp was also very good. I also felt the liver and onions were among the best that I have ever had. And the quantities were great - with both my wife and I taking half our meal home to eat for dinner this evening - and the prices were more than fair. But, most importantly to us was the service! We were served by Libby and she was FANTASTIC! She took care of all of our requests, and kept our glasses filled, while never being intrusive! On a scale of "10", I will give the ambiance and the food the maximum score of 10", but - ala the movie "We Ate Spinal Tap" - I am giving Libby an "11"! I almost said "rewarding Libby with" instead of "giving", but I feel that we were the ones rewarded by her service. We have eaten here before - though not often enough - and will continue to do so. Southwoods is definitely on our list of go-to restaurants. And, we sincerely hope that EVERY time we do dine here, our server will be Libby!

I ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. These are the best ones in town. And the marinara sauce is delicious. It comes with 6 sticks.

Oh how I wish this place would have been better. It's a…read morecute place and our server did a great job overall. Those are the highlights. My friend ordered the kabob dinner and said it was good...but over $20 for some veggies is crazy. My gyro and truffle fries....honestly I should have just sent them back. This is one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. They put a tomato paste on it that I almost requested without, but trusted it would be interesting. It literally tasted like cheap canned tomato paste. Gross and certainly doesn't blend well on a gyro. The lamb meat itself had a decent taste, but the way it is served makes it difficult to eat in a pita. Gyros are typically chopped or shaved lamb which makes it easier to eat and helps ensure you're getting more lamb per bite. Served in these strips, it was just falling apart and not blending with the feta. The fries...terrible. Just terrible. $6 to sub truffle fries which seems like too much but I hadn't had them in a long time so had to go for it. Listed in subs it simply says truffle fries, so I didn't know they were going to be covered in liquid cheese. They ARE listed in appetizers with the full description but I didn't look there until after bc I didn't order an appetizer. The cheese was awful, completely overwhelmed the TINY bit of truffle taste, and SO salty! Take a look at the picture and decide for yourself if the gyro and fries is worth $23. I eat a lot of gyros, and this being the most expensive one I've had is the worst. Heads up that they charge a service fee. Doesn't bother me as I always tip at least 20% but no one pointed that out and I'm not really sure what it's for. Does that go into the servers pocket or? Won't be going back to find out.

The prompt for giving a review on Yelp suggests considering ambiance, service, and food. I shall…read moredo so in reverse order. First, my wife grew up in Dearborn, and is, thus, well acquainted with Detroit pizza. So, when we were in town on Friday - living about 30 miles north - we decided to try out the Corktown Pizza restaurant. It was our first visit, but it will definitely NOT be our last. In fact, Corktown Pizza is now our go-to local restaurant for pizza. Now, to the promised review. There is not a whole lot to say about the ambiance. The restaurant has a somewhat spartan aura to it which we really enjoyed. We were able to concentrate and focus on our meal, and not on the room. The BEST part of the ambience was that the dining area was relatively quiet, allowing us to enjoy our meal and talk to each other without being overwhelmed by noise, which is the total opposite of Buffalo Wild Wings which shares the building, where you have to yell to be heard by the people sitting at your table. Now as to the food. The pizza was ABSOLUTELY the BEST pizza that I have EVER had - and I am 75 years of age, and have always enjoyed pizza. I might have had a pizza at some point that was as good as the Corktown Pizza, but I have DEFINITELY NEVER had a pizza that was better. They have several types of pizza on the menu - thick crust, thin crust, Detroit style, etc. I got the Detroit pizza and my wife got the thick crust, and both were equally good. The prices and good, and the quantity was great. I had to take half of my four slice pizza home for dinner the next day - and it was still wonderful the following night! Now, as to the service. I was really impressed with our server, Kevin, who was actually able to cover the whole room - and did a fantastic job of it. He was very attentive to our needs without being intrusive, giving us a chance to enjoy the food and our conversation. As in the movie "We Are Spinal Tap", I would like to give Kevin an "11" on a scale of "10"! I never got to meet or be introduced to Paul, the Cook/Chef, but based on the food he prepared, I would like to give him an "11" as well! We will be back, and so should you!
