We purchased a Kawasaki ATV at a "motosports sales center" in Hillsboro OR last year and it consistently suffered from backfiring and difficulties starting. We took it back for repairs and they told us that it was "bad gas" and they said they drained the fuel tank and refilled it with new higher octane gasoline. The backfiring continued until one day it just wouldn't start at all. I also drained the tank myself and refilled it with a new tank of high octane fuel but to no avail. Because Hillsboro is pretty distant and I wasn't very impressed by their service department's failure to fix the problem that had been plaguing the machine since purchase, I decided to take it to Bob Lanphere's Beaverton Motorcycles for service. Dalton, the service representative I initially contacted and worked with throughout the service visit was very personable and great to deal with. He was honest about the delays in service due to the high demand season and large number of recreational vehicles needing repair. After drop-off, Dalton kept in contact with updates on the service schedule and called promptly when the repair was finished. Because the repair took less time than the normal 2 hour mechanic's assessment period I was actually charged less than the normal minimum fee I was quoted at the onset. The ATV was clean and had been washed prior to my arrival. I was urged to give it a good test drive to insure there were no residual issues before loading it up to bring home. The ATV started right up, ran smoothly and I was able to drive it right up into the bed of my pickup truck using their convenient loading ramp/platform in the parking lot. Overall, I was very satisfied by the service and professionalism demonstrated by the staff at Beaverton Motorcycles and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for ATV repairs. read more

I was very interested in purchasing a Beta motorcycle from Beaverton Motorcycles & Powersports, but unfortunately my experience with their sales department was disappointing. I initially contacted the dealership and spoke with Lando. It was difficult to get basic information about the motorcycle, and after waiting for a return call, I ended up researching the bike myself. Once I had the information I needed, I called back, told Lando I wanted to purchase the bike, and even made an offer. He told me he would get back to me the following day. Three days passed, and I never received a phone call, email, or text. Rather than continue waiting, I contacted a Beta dealer in Arizona. Within 15 minutes, they answered all of my questions, negotiated a fair deal, and earned my business. I was ready to buy from Beaverton Motorcycles & Powersports, but the lack of communication and follow-up cost them the sale. I wanted to test ride a couple of bikes before hopefully buying one. Most of the bikes I wanted to test ride were used. I was told they don't really do test rides because they like the miles to be low on bikes they sell. Hmmm most of the bikes were already used anyway so that didn't even make sense. He went on to tell me that I could come in and sit on them and he could tell me about them because he had ridden them. Are you kidding me? Just go to Cascade Moto instead. Staff is friendly you can test ride bikes and it's literally across the street from this horrible dealership. Crazy to be expected to buy a motorcycle without a test ride. read more

I am currently in the process of buying my first motorcycle and stopped in to look around and ask some questions. Getting into riding can be intimidating, so I was hoping for a bit of guidance. Unfortunately, this didn't feel like a welcoming place for a novice. I spent about 40 minutes walking around checking out potential starter bikes. While there were plenty of sales representatives on the floor, they were all exclusively chatting with clearly experienced riders. Not once did anyone approach me, greet me, or ask if I needed assistance. If you already know exactly what you want or are an established rider, this shop is probably perfectly fine. This place hasn't changed. My son was in the market for a "mid sized" motorcycle this past weekend. Against my recommendation he wanted to see if a bike he saw online was still available here. We looked through all the bikes on display, inside and out, but didn't find it. We stood around waiting for an available person to ask about the bike, or even one similar, but no one approached us. I politely said, "excuse me" to an employee walking by near us, I just wanted to ask if anyone was available for us to speak to, and he waved his hand at me like I was a flying insect. When we decided to leave we noticed 2 employees outside in the entrance area hanging out. We didn't bother to ask for their help or see if they were available. We went across the street to Cascade Moto and bought him a very nice bike. I didn't even know there was another dealer in the area until we were heading out! The people there are so friendly and helpful! The 3 of us also purchased riding gear and some extras from there. There's too many other motorcycle dealers in the greater Portland area, with great inventory, to ever recommend this place to anyone. Go across the street or check out the shops in Gresham, Salem, or Portland. They all have great available stock and the nicest people to help you find what you are looking for. This might have been the only place to readily get a motorcycle 20 years ago, but it's definitely not now. read more

I came into this dealership multiple times sitting on a Ninja 500 w/abs. Weeks had gone by and the one I was really wanting had sold. I was bummed. But the Salesman Jordan, he let me know that the original blk/red Ninja 500 ABS I had sat on , was still there! I was stoked! He kept talking to the service department and working numbers with us until everything was perfect! Had such a wonderful time and experience!! Highly recommend these guys over the douché that screwed me over in Hillsboro! And yes-- they allow you to do test ride. You need to endorsed and fill out your paperwork. However, I paid in full, so I'm not sure if there's a difference. I've got a love/ hate relationship with this place. On the one hand, the service department is thorough, reliable and does good work, even if the prices are a bit high - but then, it's a dealership. I've had my bike worked on here multiple times, and it's always been done right, albeit at a high price. Also props for the remodel of the service center customer area, which is way more inviting, comfortable and modernized (at last). Where they lose me is in the other parts of this sprawling, multi-layered compound. The dealership part, with new models on the floor, is surprisingly crowded, badly lit and poorly laid out. The bikes just aren't presented well and it's lame - I mean, come on this is a Bob Lanphere joint! You've been in business for years! And don't get me started on the separate parts and accessories area behind that, in another huge room, where you'll find boots, jackets, helmets, riding gear, etc etc. You'll only 'find' them however, if you're lucky - because the organization in this department is nonexistent, with no signage designating what's what or where, what's men's or ladies, what sizes, and so on. You have to wade through rows and rows of randomly placed items to find anything. They probably need to go check out Cycle Gear - or even Paradise Harley, right down the street - any other legit dealership/ store that has figured out how to lay out a retail space for apparel. On the other hand, Lanphere has a pretty wide selection of a lot of different gear, so you find yourself coming here more than you care to. Ugh. Frustrating. read more

I went to this dealership feeling super excited to buy myself a new motorcycle. I had a solid idea of what I wanted to purchase, and brought my riding gear along to do a test ride. A salesperson with short brown hair and a braided "rat tail" down the back of his neck came over to ask if I needed anything - I asked to go out for a test ride. This guy responded "and are you thinking you'll take this bike home today?"...to which I said "maybe! It depends how the test ride goes." This guy continued on to give me SUCH a hard time! He asked me if I was "fully endorsed", then told me test rides are reserved for people actually buying a bike as they want to keep "low miles" on the bikes. Fair enough, but I was shopping to buy. When I asked again for a test ride to verify this was the bike I wanted to buy, this guy says "well it's not as easy as just tossing you the keys and I don't wanna do the paperwork unless you're going to buy it." I let him know I was not going to be buying it without a test ride - he just shrugged his shoulders. I was stunned that I had to try so hard to buy the bike I came in to buy. I walked out and drove across the street to Cascade Moto - where I test drove a Bonneville and bought it same day. The guys at Cascade Moto were SO kind and helpful, I had an amazing experience and highly recommend Cascade Moto - don't waste your time on this Honda dealership. After looking at staff pictures on the Honda dealsership's website, the staff person who "helped" me was Zachary S. Not sure if this guy was having a bad day, or has a problem with women riding motorcycles, but whatever his issue it completely soured my experience and lost the Honda dealership a sale. My response to business owner's reply on 5/19: I completely understand the necessity and rationale of your test ride policies. Of course I am "fully" endorsed. I would not be purchasing a motorcycle nor asking to test ride if I were not. Additionally, I am unclear on the statement "fully endorsed". Rude/unprofessional sales phone customer service. Terrible first impression unfortunately. I was politely explaining what my wife and I were interested in trying to get a recommendation on some bikes we normally wouldn't look at. The sales person had a condescending tone and only wanted me to "come in". Clearly did not want to talk with me. I don't live close to the dealer (~90 minutes away), so I was hoping to get his opinion on some bikes and see if he thought they were a good fit. Get his "expertise". Had we talked for a few, I would come by this weekend. I just don't understand what happened to even just good customer service. Maybe he assumed I wasn't a qualified buyer but I own my home, have an 800 credit score and cash if need be. Not meant to be a brag but simply put, don't have an attitude of assumption or jump to thinking that callers are not well qualified buyers. Buyers beware. The service department kept my bike for 2 weeks after I brought back a new Yamaha T7 for a clutch issue. They never called me, there is nothing to suggest they tried to fix the bike and after 2 weeks they just told me "all the Yamaha's are like that". I have owned a few bikes and had others ride this bike and the comment is always the same that the shifting is so poor its unsafe in traffic. After refusing to fix my bike under warranty even though it was only 1 month old and had less that 360 miles on it, I would say stay away from this dealer. read more

Meet Jordan before a trip and he was really good at showing us some of the bikes in stock as we weren't ready for purchase. We were looking for a MT series version of Yamaha naked bikes. We settled on an MT-07 for our needs. He gave us a card and advised us to contact him when we were ready for purchase. Two weeks later I called in the morning to lock in a bike they had in stock as we were ready for our purchase. Low and behold it was Jordan again. He put the Cyan Storm MT-07 aside for us and we made the purchase two hours later. Jordan is a low key non pushy sales guy and full of knowledge. Don't waste your time go to a different dealer. I have previously bought from bob's and it went alright. I came in this time looking to get a new bike specifically the ktm 890 adventure long story short and two wasted days later they tell me they can't sell the bike. Not only was this extremely frustrating but the sales staff was very inexperienced and didn't know what they were talking about. It has been several months now for me to cool off before leaving a review. This has been one of the worse new vehicle purchases I've ever had. I bought a new Polaris Ranger XP Northstar. The first one I test drove was nice but the AC didn't work. The salesman told me to just make an appointment and bring it back to get it fixed...what?? I asked to drive a different one and the AC worked fine in it but it also had issues. One of the dash vents wouldn't stay in place and the tailgate kept falling open. Again, he said to make an appointment to bring it back to get it fixed...what? I bought the unit and just fixed the items myself. I recently went with a friend to the dealer in Redmond. He bought a new Ranger from them. I wish I had bought mine from them. What a difference in professional courtesy! The entire experience was top notch! Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Redmond!!!! And for what it's worth, Polaris also lost more sales on add ons that I ended up just getting off of Amazon. read more

I talked to a great salesperson named Fabian over the phone and went in to buy a pit bike I made a deposit on. This is where it went bad. Fabian had the floor manager Matthew Knowlton "Matty" as he's known by the staff. Unfortunately, Matthew is a huge douche nozzle. He failed to introduce himself as he approached me to justify their fees. He stated "I guess we need to refund your deposit because we aren't going remove the assembly fee". I've never had to pay an assembly fee on a motorcycle...it's a BS fee. Matty wasn't backing down or even negotiating...he got more hostile as I continued to question the fees. Come to find out that they also charge a 3.3% fee if I were to use my debit card. Matthew continued to also justify this fee as he got more hostile for having to do so. This place has always been fine with my other motorcycle purchases but Matthew made this experience terrible. My advice is to steer clear of this guy. He truly is the epitome of the a-hole, slimy sales person. This place could and should do better. Hire better people or re-train the ones that are driving sales away. read more

The service department at this dealership performed a factory recall on my motorcycle and not only did they perform the repair improperly, but when the part faied due to their improper installation, when it was brought to their attention, they didn't bother to actually inspect the part, instead blamed theissue on the owner (me), using the wrong stand for the motorcycle, without ever actually putting it on a stand or turning a single wrench to make the bike was in fact safe to ride. When asked to put the bike on a stand to show their tech's assessment was correct, I was informed that it would cost me another $90.00 to perform a 2 minute procedur, so I refused the charge and took the bike home, and decif to check for myself before riding the bike as I was told would be absolutely fine to do. once I found the assembly was wayyyyyy out of factory spec I contacted the sevice manager to explain what I found, and trying to bring it to his attention that their tech missed a critical safety issue on the bike, and attempting to explain the factory process for replacing the part, directly from the factory service manual, the service manager told me that procedure wasn't even for the bearings on my bike, they were completely different bearings. it wsn't until I sent a photo of the factory service manual to him that showed him contradicting the factory instructions, that he agreed to replace the parts involved, which would have been satisfactory for me, but I made it very clear prior to that, that I would not be willing to let their techs work on my bike again, and I would be satisfied with picking up the parts, replacing them myself and taking responsibility for the repair myself, as I didn't fe safe or comfortable with the work or diagnostic performed by their tech. Shortly after, I would be contacted by another employee, Chelsea, who was very polite, professional, and pleasant the our communication. she did an excellent job of keeping me posted on the parts ordered, and explained they were delayed, as well as asked about scheduling a tech to perform the replacement of parts, which I let her know I would not be bringing my bike in, that I told the service manager I would pick up the parts and do the work myself. she asked again to clarify when the parts came in nearly 3 weeks later if I were bringing in my bike, or picking the parts up? i reiterated that I would be perfo the work myself. when I finally came to pick up my parts, Mark, the service manager seemingly very agitated, told me I would not be picking parts up, and the ONLY WAY I would gety bike fixed is if I brought it to them to have them perform the repairs, otherwise I should just leave. I asked why this is the first time anyone has told me this, after I'd driven 2 hours round trip again, he made the excuse that Chelsea had only been working there 2 week, which was a lie, but still no excuse for wasting my time and fuel, for the 3rd time, and when asked who is responsible for the lack of communication I was told I was rude, and should leave before he contacted the police to remove me from the property. The unfortunsteady part for Mark, is that he agreed to replace the part's associated with the rear wheel and axle bearings without any mention of any requirement that they perform the repairs, lied to my face, and directly contradicted the factory service manual, ALL OVER TEXT. It's bad enough to send someone out the door with a bike in an unsafe condition, but to tell them they don't know what they are talking about when they're going by the factory manual, and act like the reason for the recall in the first place (catastrophic failures that can result in injury or death), never happened, and when shown the errors, then start calling the customer rude, and threaten to call the police when asked who is responsible for wasting the customers time and money? I have never experienced such a poor level of customer service, and incompetence at any level of of a purchase, not to mention after spending 30,000 just a month prior to the issue coming up with my motorcycle. I hope that this was an isolated incident, and can only warn others that you could be putting your own safety, and your loved one's safety at risk by bringing your machine to have work done here. I hope this will prevent someone who may not be mechanically inclined, from being hurt by the careless, arrogance, or ignorance that they showed in my case. I will be contacting Kawasaki corporate, and Lanphere corporate to make them aware of the situation, but at this point I've lost over 2 months of the riding seaso, several trips with my friends, and any faith I had in the service department at Beaverton Motorcycles. I truly regret buying our side by side from them, bef this incident with my motorecycle, but lesson learned. I will make sure that my friends family and the large group of motorcyclists I ride with steer far clear of here in the future. read more
