So I had a huge craving for a char dog . I have passed this place for a while and decided to give it a try. I ordered online, my order was two char dogs with grilled onions and a side of fries. The dogs actually came with fries , but I figured it was nit enough and wanted a side. Well I was wrong about the fries , it was a huge amount that came with the dog. And the side fries and at least a half pound of fries. The hotdogs were chard nicely , not over done . It was really good , one dog with fries was enough for a lunch . I ate the second one the next day , it was still really good . The price for the dogs was actually a good deal . I would definitely try something else there. They have some seating along the windows, for a quick bite . Staff were very nice , my order was double wrapped in two bags and my food was hot and fresh . Definitely give them a go. read more

Well, what can I say about BobO's. It's definitely worth a visit! This is their new spot, right off Milwaukee and close to Devon. The place itself is small and no-frills. It has just simple tables where you sit down, eat, and go. It's got a bit of that industrial, old-school vibe, and honestly, that works perfectly here. Prices are fair, and the focus is exactly where it should be: the food. They're well-known for their beef, but I've got to admit. I actually enjoy the sausages even more. The grilled sausages are flavorful and satisfying, though the beef is still solid, especially compared to other spots around town. If you're coming here for the first time, I'd say give the beef a try since it's their claim to fame, but don't sleep on those sausages. I'm glad they opened this new location since the original one is a bit farther west near Cumberland and Irving. This spot is much more convenient for me since I pass through the area often. Since I first visited Bob-O's, I've fallen in love with this place. It's a drive from my place but worth it. I've tried the Italian Beef and the pork chop sandwich. Both were flavorful and let's not forget I had to order those super fresh cut fresh fries. I had my Italian beef dipped with hot peppers. The meat was tender and the gravy was seasoned extremely well. The giardiniera was crunchy with the right amount of heat. They should jar it and sell it. Secondly, the pork chop sandwich was grilled to perfection, I chose to top mine with mustard, grilled onions and hot peppers. It was grilled and juicy. The grilled onions had some bite and not mushy. This is a boneless chop, so feel free to gobble it up. Once again those fries give me life. No ketchup required. The staff is always so friendly and even the people that was waiting was friendly as we struck up a conversation. I also was able to talk to the owner and he's super chill. First time visiting the establishment and it was super fast to order and they accept debit/credit cards. Just so you know Cash is always preferred. The restaurant has some sitting along the windows of the restaurant. The food was cooked to order and everything tasted nice and fresh. I went there at 7:20 PM Friday night and was told the dining room room, which is only counters and stools, was closed and it would be takeout only because customers stay late sometimes. I showed up 10 min before closing and I get it she wants to go home like everyone else and says "We had no business the whole day and now people wants to show up" like if she doesn't like her job, why is she there? Yeah, I'ma have to give it to this spot. They're #1 in Chicago for Italian beefs. Portillos ain't got nothing on them. This is a joint where you don't have to wait long & they have plenty of space to sit & enjoy. I asked for my sandwich to be lightly dipped & that's just how I got it. But the clincher is their fries. What they give you is a meal in itself. Next time I go, I WON'T order fries because I don't want them to go to waste. So my advice is to have someone accompany you & y'all SPLIT an order of fries. But back to the beef. It's tasty & not too heavy. I plan on going back to order a lb of beef to take home. I think I'll go back there in the next week on my way to work. Al's on Taylor st which is the only Al's location you should be going to. Jays beef in Harwood heights, but I only learned of Bob-Os last year. Tried out the Irving Park location and loved it. So a couple months ago Bob O's opened on Milwaukee Ave in Norwood park. I can't get enough of this place. Incredible Italian beef and incredible Italian sausage. The Milwaukee Ave Bob-O's to me is the epitome of CLASSIC old school Chicago fast food. The depression dog is everything you love about Gene & Judes but with crispier fries which gives Bob-O's (and Rand Red Hots) at leg up. The beef and combo are among the best you'll get in the city. The beef is super tender and well seasoned, just don't ask for cheese because this location keeps it old school. A nice bonus is the meatball sandwich incase you feel like something different.
