Highlights: they focus strongly on the quality of the tea, and have both genmaicha and hojicha, two of my favorite flavors that are hard to find elsewhere. The genmaicha milk tea is like a hug for your soul. Flavor profile: Tea-centric (without being overpowering), creamy, mellow sweetness. Think Ten Ren but less tannic, or N7 Draft Tea at 50% sweetness. Vibe: Standard "modern" "mimimalist" aesthetic with neutral woods, white counters, and dark metals. Lots of power outlets and power strips available, even for the smaller tables. Service: all the employees are friendly and happy to give recommendations. Drinks come out quickly and flavors are consistent every time I've been here. Definitely worth a visit. read more

One of my go-to boba spots! Service is really fast and they usually have your drinks out in a couple of minutes. The downside is that sweetness or ice levels can't be adjusted on some drinks but overall, the quality of the drinks is superb. The menu isn't too overwhelming either and there's a decent amount of topping choices. In the glass display, they sell stickers and decals for $1 or $3 each. They also have a rewards program when you sign up via email or phone number. Don't be deceived by the opaque dark windows and think that the shop is closed. I thought that once and was glad I checked the door before I left! I was pretty excited to try this place seeing how they have such good reviews on Yelp. I got two drinks, matcha mango latte with boba and lychee peach green tea with aloe. I personally did not like the matcha mango latte at all. You could still taste the powder and it didn't even taste like mango. I can't really describe the taste but for some reason, it reminded me of durian. My bf even said it tasted a little sour. The boba was harder than I would like too. The lychee peach was good but pretty average drink, nothing too special. I honestly wasn't sure if this was place only going to be good for aesthetics but I was actually blown away by my drink! They have a large parking lot here near a residential building and have opened the shop for limited customers to walk inside, so you can still use the bathroom during these desperate pandemic times. They recently added a bunch of new flavors but I opted for their famous Brown sugar fresh milk and one of the new drinks: Black Sesame Hojicha. They never asked me for adjusting my sugar and ice levels so I COMPLETELY FORGOT and ended up getting everything at regular sweetness. Both my drinks were IMMENSELY sweet but honestly that's expected for the brown sugar fresh milk, but not for the black sesame hojicha. I've never had such a sweet hojicha latte base before so that was pretty disappointing to me. The reason I was blown away was because their Brown Sugar Milk is like drinking liquid gold. Ehh. I stopped here in the late afternoon to satisfy my boba craving and I ultimately was partially satisfied. Around 6PM I went in for Thai Milk Tea and they had mentioned they ran out, sadly. But I went ahead and got the Bee-long with boba and overall the tea itself was average, nothing really outstanding or unique about it. 3.5 stars. The boba, that was about 2 stars. Serving amount was close to nothing. Boba itself was a little too hard, not really enjoyable given the few that were served. 3.5 overall stars, definitely a place I'd be willing to try again ... if I can't find anywhere else in the area. After eating all you can eat buffet, I was really craving some tea. I found this place. I had a look at the menu and they had some really interesting drink options so I really wanted to try it! This place is in a small-ish parking lot with a Grocery Outlet and some other small businesses. It is also next to some apartments. I came here on a Monday so I am not sure how full or busy the parking lot gets. I walk in and it's a really cute place to come with friends to have a drink or even study. The counter is open with a window behind it. You can see the staff members making the drinks. The staff here is super friendly and welcoming as well. The menu is very simple. They have a build your own menu and a specialty drinks menu. I went with the specialty drinks menu. I bought the lavender rose and the lychee refresher. It does not take long for the drinks to be prepared. I think they took about 10 minutes for both to come out. Both drinks were super refreshing and not too sweet. I could taste both the lavender/rose flavors. In the lychee refresher, there is cucumber puree. It blends so well together! Both drinks were blended/made very well. You'd think one flavor was going to overpower the other but not with these drinks. Kudos to whomever made these drink combinations...you did an awesome job blending the flavors. I got it 50% sweet and it was still too sweet but that was my fault I forgot to account for the boba and the honey added to my drink. The oolong tasted very aromatic, strong and refreshing. The boba was cooked to perfection! My bf ordered the Lavender Rose which is the honey sweetened lemonade infused with lavender and rose -1 star because my bf didn't get to make any adjustments to his drink so it was super sweet! This boba tea shop is in the neighborhood, so I do enjoy the convenience. I used to order their fruit teas as my weekend on-call drinks (I work in health care). The taste and caffeine was always reliable and consistent, so I always ordered the lychee green tea or the peach oolong (less ice, 0% sugar- same thing, every time). Sometime Spring 2022, they switched the brand or type of tea they used. I know this, because my regular drink in June was different. It no longer had a medium bodied taste of tea. Instead, it tasted like water with tea essence that was overpowered by the fruit bits. Plus, I like the caffeine kick for extra energy while being on-call, and I did not notice a significant change. I went back the next day to get another one, just to see, since maybe I got a watered down batch or something. It was slightly improved (see photo for comparison of the two), but still seemed a little different. The employee went into the kitchen to ask, and they had evidently recently switched teas. Now, this may have been in part due to a supply chain issue, increasing costs, etc.. I was hopeful that it was temporary, so I tried it one more time a few months later (lychee green tea), and it was the same watered down tea :( Because of this, I no longer order any fruit tea drinks from this store. The positive points: supporting a small business, all the employees have always been super friendly and helpful, convenient location, clean and spacious store, milk alternatives available, decent rewards program Edit: Sam was kind enough to respond-- seems like the oolong tea wasn't switched. Boba is average- it tends to be clumped together and could be better. Also, the boba could be kept fresher, i.e. more warm when you get your drink. I like the taro milk, which uses real taro rather than the purple powder stuff. They also have a variety of milk, including oat milk. They also serve Third Culture Bakery mochi muffins and donuts. These are pretty expensive in my opinion at ~$4 each, but they are tasty. Staff is friendly and patient as I'm being indecisive in picking a drink. Omg! We were looking for a Boba that's nearby from TopGolf andddd this place rocks! Too bad they do not sell any donuts anymore so I got really unhappy. Watermelon Oat was best by far my new favorite drink! I have never tasted that before from any boba places and it was so refreshing and you can literally taste both of the flavors combined! Their black sesame hoji was disappointing :(( from a black sesame lover it's already hard to come by a boba shop that carries black sesame as a drink let alone for it to be good. I got the strawberry matcha latte ($7) and the strawberry jam tasted artificial and the matcha was grainy giving the drink a gritty texture. The matcha flavor didn't come through either . As you can see in the picture the drink has a grainy texture. If you're looking for something on par with Boba Guys I would skip this place. I stumbled upon Boba Drive and kept coming back after to get work done! The inside is spacious and clean, they have plenty of tables and free wifi! They also have board games for hangouts and dates :) I really enjoy the yakult green tea with strawberry, add aiyu jelly, 50% sweet. My second time here and I was very impressed by the service. The drinks here are really good and all the drinks I've gotten here are great quality. I came on a Friday night around 9 PM. The menu is pretty small, but there's a CREATE YOUR OWN menu as well if you want to change it up a bit. This time around, my friends and I got the Bee-long, Brown Sugar Milk, and the Matcha Latte. All with less ice and half sweet. The boba has the perfect texture to it and there's a good sweetness. Of the 3, the Matcha Latte is a MUST and it is better than Boba Guys' Matcha drinks in my opinion. I recommend getting it with mango or strawberry. Overall, I would DEFINITELY come back. I used to live walking distance from Boba Drive and I've found that I miss it.......but my wallet isn't as sad, haha. Boba Drive does a few things REALLY well: their matcha drinks, the toppings options, and their milk options. When I look at their menu, I get the sense that they use high-quality/clean ingredients; I get the same feeling when I see a Boba Guys menu as well. My go-to was the Strawberry Matcha or the Mango Matcha with the crystal boba ($0.50, which is nice because a lot of boba shops will charge more for crystal boba vs other toppings). I appreciate the fruit bits that they include! It's not a cheap treat - comes out around $6.50, and sure it's a large.....but for me, it's hard to justify this indulgence on a random weekday night. However, I ALWAYS enjoy it fully. I've brought friends here who have ordered their artisan teas with milk, and the 3-4 drinks we've ordered have always come out somewhat bland. Ever since I tried the matcha latte from Asha Tea House in SF, I've been on a mission to find a local boba spot that could make one equally as good. So far I've tried one place, which was a miss. I did a little bit of research and found Boba Drive via quick Yelp search. It was the 2nd place I've tried, and I'm honestly good and content with stopping there on my list. Boba Drive had a section on the menu particularly dedicated to matcha lattes. I mean, that's a dead giveaway, right? Obviously matcha latte was one of their specialties. I arrived at Boba Drive around 12:30pm on a Monday. I've never been to the little plaza where it was located, but I can see how it made for a nice addition among the restaurants, retailers, and other small businesses for residents of that complex area. There were several guests inside, but I must've missed the lunch rush. I virtually had no wait for my food and drink. I thought the staff members were friendly and helpful. My mochi snacks, for example, were hand delivered to me while I was seated. I ordered an iced strawberry matcha with oat milk and no added sweetener. It's always nice when boba places offer different types of non-dairy milk. If it wasn't for the employee at the register who asked if I wanted whole milk, I totally would've forgot to switch out the milk and regretted it later. I was surprised by how sweet it was even without any sweetener. My best bet was that the strawberry puree had added sugar. I personally was hoping that the strawberry puree used its natural sugars instead to provide subtlety in sweetness. I thought the drink was good, nonetheless. It could certainly hold over my matcha latte cravings when I don't feel like driving all the way to the City. I kept seeing reviews of people raving about Third Culture Bakery, which didn't really mean much to me. I've never been to this bakery in Berkeley, so I couldn't relate. Given the hype though, I had to try these baked goods at Boba Drive. I got a passion fruit mochi donut and matcha custard cake, and I really liked both of them. The passion fruit icing had great flavor. I liked the texture of this donut way better than the mochi donuts I've tried with the beaded-ring shape. I also enjoyed the matcha custard cake. Another new Boba fad, only this time, this is a great pick and something out of the ordinary. Their main focus here is their matcha and milk. They have premium milk from Straus and Oat milk. I ordered their strawberry matcha pearl tea with oat milk. It was thick, full bodied, and had a creamy flavor to it. It was of course different in every way. Their crystal boba which has this gelatin pop to it is unique too. It's one of the most unique milk teas I've had up to date. I definitely recommend people coming here to try it! Kind of underwhelming experience here. When i came on a weekend it was packed tho.. lots of people hanging out at the tables. It was kind of stuffy tho, like it had no ventilation/ A/C and i remembered it smelled funny. Anyways, the menu is kind of unique. Lots of very sugary offerings. I'm more into the classic drinks. I wanted to try the black milk tea with organic whole milk for some reason. I think i heard TP tea used organic whole milk so wanted to see if it was the same effect. It was not. Just tasted like a whole lotta milk with slight tea flavor. Very little sweetness with 50% i believe i got. Didn't bother to edit my drink tho i should have. I don't think i'd be back :( too many other good choices around that are better deals and have a more authentic taste. read more
