Boba Ninja is where I go whenever I feel hungry late at night. It's a small shop, but there are a wide variety of drinks and snacks you can order here. Keep in mind that there are no seats inside the store, but there are plenty of tables outside in the food court for you to chill with your friends, Drinks come really quickly also, which is a plus. I love the honey lemon green tea here, where the lemon flavor and sweetness of the honey balances each other really well. It's so hard to find great honey lemon tea around Berkeley. Most shops don't even offer the drink. Boba Ninja is my solace, and they satisfy my cravings. The popcorn chicken is always delicious here too, which matches really well with the plenty of drinks you can order. Great food, alright ambience. I'd definitely come here more often for quick boba and snacks during the school year. read more

I googled how to get here and didn't realize it was in a alley-type of area where inside said "alley" there were multiple little stores. The shop itself is tiny. There's enough room for about four people to stand inside and order then head out. There are plenty of tables outside to sit on but it's a first come first serve basis. I was in the area for a conference so we stopped by here for food. I got the jasmine milk tea and an order of six teriyaki wings. Honestly it was just regular jasmine milk tea. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible either. The wings had good flavor on them but they were small and the bones fractured a lot. Not sure if they break it before they cook it to somehow quicken the process but I had to be vigilant. All in all, I probably wouldn't return because my experience was just A-OK and there's plenty of other places around. read more

Cheap boba is sometimes where its at. Ya, I'm in that stage of life where I would rather have quality over quantity, but there is something to be said about $2 boba, especially since I'm used to paying almost double that for about the same quality elsewhere. Classic milk tea here is good - punchy tea flavor without too much distraction from powdered creamer. I got not problem with that for the $2. Not the best boba I've ever had but when its this cheap, who cares? As for the snacks, chicken is a bit greasy though and a little bland on the flavor. They do give you a lot in that bag though so you definitely won't go hungry snacking on it. But you might also need a nap too...unless that sugar rush from the boba keeps you going. read more

This review is from Saturday, 9/18/21. We had come here two times previously and both outings were great. Unfortunately no charm for this third time around. We ordered three drinks: Bubble Milk Tea, Thai Milk Tea, and Coffee Milk Tea; all drinks with boba. Something must have gone wrong terribly in that kitchen that one night because none of the drinks tasted like they should have. Unfortunately we were already on the freeway for a road trip and could not turn back around for a replacement or refund. The basic Milk Tea did not taste like milk tea. And I don't know how you can mess that up. Even Quickly can get that right. The Coffee Milk Tea tasted herbal. Thai Milk Tea did not taste like Thai Milk Tea either. I have a lot of boba drinks under my belt and know what it should taste like. Maybe they did not clean out the container from the last drink made I dunno. I just know I won't be coming back. It's sad because they are the only ones in that area open really late; main reason we went there that evening. We had two great experiences prior where the drinks were made fast and they tasted great. I don't know what happened on 9/18/21. Whoever made our drinks should be fired. If you're looking for basic Chinatown, street style drinks and snacks, then I recommend Boba Ninja. While they likely use drink mixes containing artificial flavors, their drinks will never taste too watered down or too acidic. The tapioca is consistently the same edible texture every time (unlike their hipster counterparts that love to use old boba). None of the drinks will leave you with that "sour milk" aftertaste that the "healthier" tea places would. They have a pretty large drink menu and a decent amount of deep fried snacks. Be forewarned the snacks are very SALTY, so be sure to upgrade your drink size or order an extra drink. read more

Pros: - popcorn chicken is a huge portion, crispy not greasy but can be a little salty - fishballs are so good my kids love them Note: - Yes they are open during Covid shelter in place but the food alley has more vagrants than usual just seeking a place to rest. Walking space is narrow and does not really allow for six feet social distancing. Shop did do a good job of keeping customers at a distance though. Recommend: Pay by card to avoid making them handle cash. Try their popcorn chicken. I found this place after smelling that mouthwatering deliciousness in a Target store down the road one day and asking a woman where she got that dreamy bag of popcorn chicken from. I just got the popcorn chicken here as that was the only thing I wanted, and wow do they give you a lot. I spent $10 and I expected to get the usual amount that I get in other places, but this spot gives you probably double the normal amount. Got a bag full of tasty crispy popcorn chicken. The taste was good although it might have been a little salty as they might have added on too much seasoning. The texture was great, crispy, and crunchy when you ate it. I think it was a little dry but very tasty and makes you crave more. The chicken is not fresh (it's old), and the seasoning tastes like Hot n Spicy Baken-ets on pieces of dark meat. Makes me grateful to not be a college student anymore and able to afford better quality food. However if that's you, more power to you cause I'd eat it if that's all I could afford. Just pair it with some rice or canned vegetables, because the level of processing in the meat and seasoning AND sodium is NOT healthy. I could only eat a few pieces and threw the rest in the trash. This is my go-to place for boba or a snack when I'm too lazy to go too far. It's a super small place; you can't really sit in, just order and go. But I come back because 1) the cashiers are really nice and 2) the drinks are consistent and they have plenty of options! It's actually pretty funny because the cashier recognizes me and my order every time I come in. It's also open super late (like 1am on some nights) so students are always here. I wouldn't say it's the highest quality boba, but it's quick and convenient! Unfortunately they raised their prices (it's $8 for an order of popcorn chicken now), but you gotta do what you gotta do. Okay, the quality isn't as great as UCha or Yi Fang, but their service is impeccable. Each time I've gone, the employees are polite. It takes them awhile since they don't have a lot of staff, but even just asking them about your order if it's taking a bit longer, they will kindly let you know when to expect it and do their best to deliver. A few faves are their popcorn chicken, avocado smoothie, coconut milk tea, regular milk tea, Thai tea, & mango banana smoothie. I came to Boba Ninja after hearing the Quickly's had been replaced. The interior isn't much of an interior at all, just a small corridor for you to place your order. The majority of the square footage is the kitchen. No complaints here, I'm well aware of what I'm getting myself into with Asian Ghetto! I ordered the Pudding Milk Tea and found that the pudding was STRANGELY fruity, to the point where the fruitiness eventually permeated the milk tea. That might be fine for some, but I'm REALLY not a fan of any type of fruity milk teas. If anything, I prefer my boba drinks to err on the side of honey or caramel, but fruit??? MMMMM no thanks. If I'm on campus and craving boba, my go-tos are usually Tea Press or Sharetea. Sadly, I don't think Boba Ninja will be joining my list. read more

Located in the Asian Ghetto of UC Berkeley this place is really tiny! Like I don't even think 5 people can even fit in this place. I feel like this place is meant for one to just order and wait outside. Just like any other bubble tea places, they have the usual fruit teas, milk teas and food such as popcorn chicken. The prices for the drinks are pretty good, but the service was "meh" to me. The cashier seemed like he just wanted me to order and just get out.
