Vivi sells many more varieties of tea, drinks & even has some Taiwanese eats. For those who are unaware...you can order teas without boba & aloe jelly (which is too caloric for me!). Plus, you can also request different %'s of sugary & flavored syrup /sweetness. They also list the calories content of their drinks. My LOVES: Grapefruit & Strawberry @ 30% sweet level, Champagne Grape Aloe (w/ fresh aloe jelly & bits of grapes) & Fresh Watermelon Slush (w/ NO sugar), which is my absolute #1 fave..especially refreshing on a hot, summer day! Another MUST TRY: the BEST POPCORN CHICKEN in NYC - a popular Taiwanese street snack in a small paper bag eaten w/ lil' wooden sticks. You can choose from Spicy, (the original classic) Pepper Salt, Curry & Basil but my fave is always the Garlic, which is less salty than the classic flavor. You bite into a non-greasy, super-tasty & crunchy garlic batter followed by a juicy & tender dark-meat chicken morsel. It's 1 of the BEST (Taiwanese) Popcorn Chicken on UES & IMHO, compared to other popcorn chicken versions (eg. Popeyes,' KFC, etc), it's the tastiest of the bunch & doesn't require any sauces! Any popcorn chicken purist would approve. :) OK's: pork chop, (Chinese) ramen & rice bowls were basic w/o the authentic fixings (eg. Tea egg, pickled veggies, minced pork on top of rice). If only they would improve certain food items by making them more authentic Taiwanese...I guarantee that they would not only increase their sales but also bring awareness to UES -a neighborhood lacking in good, authentic Chinese cuisine options- that authentic Taiwanese / Chinese street eats are much more delish than Americanized versions of these dishes. The love comes out of necessity, because there simply aren't many accessible boba shops in the neighborhood. The hate comes from their lackluster drinks. The taro brulée is their most decent drink. It does the job, but it's not amazing either. The worst drink is the strawberry yakult which, I kid you not, tasted like medicine. The strawberry was so artificial. It reminded me of the Flinstones vitamins I was forced to take as a child. Yuck. On the bright side, this neighborhood is warming up to Asian shops, as seen by the two Japanese stores opening in the low 90s and 70s. I just hope more boba shops will follow suit.

I also love their Kale Monster drink, but I forget the number for it on their menu. The staff is super friendly. If they're not related, they act like they are, which makes the relatively small operation seem really nice and intimate. They are so nice, and very fast. The drinks are a little expensive, but you can see the entire assembly process and it is clear that only real fruit is used, and no sweeteners. For that quality, I'm happy to pay, and it's still less expensive than other drink spots in the area. There are no chairs, and the standing area is quite small, but I actually love that because it means I don't have to stay in there with my kids while they drink their smoothies. If I did, they would surely be constantly asking for more kinds of smoothie instead of just enjoying the one they have. For that reason, I don't mind the small space being inconvenient for dining in. In the end, delicious, fresh, smoothies at a great price, with friendly staff :)
