Ordered boba tea for my Granddaughters. Both loved the drinks and the service was very good!

Entered on a Friday night to order a quick drink and enjoy the rest of my night. However, I was in for a surprise. There was a poor girl working by herself...Yes, taking orders and making drinks. It took 10 minutes for the drinks to come out. Remember in elementary when we all received the bright, colorful and round stickers that said, "SUPER"? The teacher would give us that sticker when we did something extra super like let a classmate borrow a pencil, pick up trash, or put on a poker face, hold up two fingers high and mighty like a peace sign to quiet down a rowdy class. Well, this girl deserved at least 10 stickers. Ordered: Regular sized passion fruit slushy - $2.95 Large honeydew milk tea $3.25 - This tastes exactly like the Korean melon bars in drink form and with boba. No tax. Total $6.20 I'm torn whether to give 3 or 4 stars. But I'm giving the owner the benefit of the doubt. I have faith in humanity. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but the owner of this boba shop has poor hygeine for someone who serves food. He didn't wash his hands when he walked back into the store from his car, doing who knows what. He started making drinks and rinsing dishes at the same time, but it didn't look like the dishes were washed at all. I decided to cancel my drink and avoid any food poisoning. I hope people take caution coming here. I'm pretty sure the only reason they're still in business is because they're the only boba shop open past 10pm and they have a larger than average lobby for students to study at. read more

I was a bit hesitant to get drinks from this place however it exceeded my expectations. First off the classic milk tea I ordered was very tasty! The tea tasted like it was rice or barley tea? I enjoy milk teas with that real tea flavor and not just sweet milk. The boba had good chew but I wish it was a bit sweeter. This place also serves free popcorn. The employees here are so sweet! I wasn't a huge fan of the boba I got and they gave me another one no problem for free! My friend also asked if they had mango milk tea and they didn't so she ordered another flavor and when I went to go see if I could get another one, he had made her a mango milk tea just for her for free even though it wasn't on the menu! Such a wonderful little boba place. There's so much besides boba that they have to offer that I'll definitely have to visit again when I'm more hungry. Their server Liz was incredible! Just outstanding customer service and she recommended their passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly which was perfect for the drive home. A great place to study. I go almost every weekend and the song choices are just up my alley. The manager there is extremely nice and always greets the customers. The boba is normal but a bit overpriced for what you're getting . I wouldn't go here for just the boba but if you want a quiet place to chill, study, or talk with friends this would be a great location to do so. read more

Boba Ya makes the best taiyaki!! The has the perfect crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. We like them either plain or with chocolate. They also have red beans too which is my parents favorite. My kids and I love their drinks also. They've got a good variety of smoothie, tea, and coffee with or without bobas. read more

I found PERFECT BOBA! The drink was not sickly sweet, neither was it annoyingly drowned in ice. And the BOBA! No annoying leathery center NOR mushy to the point of it starting to fall apart. PER. FECT!!!!! And that's not even the best news. They just so happen to carry a REALLY hard to find drink called mitsugaru! It is called "Mixed Grain" here. Thank goodness I found a spot that was open on New Years Day! I was craving some milk tea and found this spot after searching on Yelp. The gentleman worker was very nice. I was surprised at how much I liked their milk tea. Maybe I didn't have high expectations but I ended up really liking it! I'll definitely be coming back here again when I'm in the area. read more

I almost never review places but I've been coming to this boba shop for over a year now, not consistently but enough to know what to expect when I go. Tonight was a long wait, which I don't mind, I understand that this being only boba shop open past 10pm in the Buena Park/La Mirada area will mean a little bit of a wait, again not necessarily my issue. The group in front of me and my party ordered a waffle around 10:58PM and the cashier left to assist the only other employee that was making drinks, as there was about 10-15 people who had ordered ahead of us because of the late night rush. Again, waiting for my order to be taken wasn't the issue. At 11:02 our order was taken and as I asked if fish bread was being served, the cashier looked at the clock and apologized saying "sorry we just stopped" I understand there needs to be cut offs, I truly do, but it's 2 minutes past and I waited four minutes after the group in front of me ordered food, just for me to be told no.... A real let down. Although this left me aggravated I ordered my drink with the other two members of my party and we proceeded to wait for our drinks. This is where the real problem starts, I didn't start drinking my smoothie until I was closer to home and as I was drinking it I discovered many large pieces of ice coming through my straw, something I'm not used to. Upon finishing my drink I found two large pieces of ice at the bottom of my cup and this alone is enough to make me consider returning. I understand this is a small business and I understand there was a rush, but that's no excuse for my drink to be made poorly, considering I've spent a fair amount of money over time at this shop. read more

I came here with few of my friends and ordered few drinks and cream waffle. we got our drinks in like 10 mins but the waffle took forever. I had to go up and ask and they gave me a waffle that was cold, dry, and not even in shape (seemed like they scraped it off from the machine). I talked to the tall Asian guy with a white shirt who looked like a manager or the owner of this place( he knew what he was doing. making drinks and everything) and he told me that waffles are supposed to be cold because they cool it down on purpose. I was like okay, but it tasted so bad cold that I read the food description again on the menu. IT LITERALLY SAYS ON THE DESCRIPTION that the waffles are warm and freshly made. I went up to him and asked again and he straight up gave me the bitch face saying "so you want me to make another one?" The fact that he already knew that waffles are supposed to be warm or fresh and just LIE to a customer that it is supposed to be cold is just insane. I threw away that dry waffle. I ask him for a refund he says okay and doesn't come out of the kitchen for the next 20 min so we just left. I understand there are some drinks that he had to make and so on. I have worked in different places including a boba shop, but this was unacceptable. What a service and a great way to ruin a day! read more

Boba Ya was probably the last boba place I had yet to try in the area, but I finally got the chance... and was disappointed. Finding Boba Ya is not difficult at all as it is directly off of Beach Blvd. It is in kind of a weird little business center though. Upon entering you notice that there is plenty of seating area to get some work done. The drink menu is on the wall near where you order from and the "snacks" menu is located on the back wall. I ordered a "natural fruit" slush in the mango flavor. There was nothing natural about it, it is definitely made with syrup. It wasn't bad, but was really looking forward to natural flavor of mango. The boba was over cooked and kind of hard to chew. There was really no chewiness to it. Also ordered some popcorn chicken. That was maybe the biggest let down. If you come in thinking you are going to get Taiwanese style popcorn chicken like you do at most boba shops... you will be disappointed like I was. The popcorn chicken kind of tastes like Tyson brand chicken with some bread crumb seasoning. The flavors were okay, not horrible, but definitely not what I was expecting. read more

It was hot out after playing tennis, so my friend and I decided to go to Boba-Ya to try some of their drinks. Honestly I was pretty hyped to try this place cuz my friend was always talking about it. Not because it was great, but just because the name sounded kind of silly lol. It even became sort of an inside joke. 'Boba-Ya!' came to mean something like "Yeah! Awesome!" So, I ordered an Almond Milk Tea with boba, and I must say I'm not impressed. There's just something off about the boba. It's chewy, but it has kind of a weird taste to it, and it's NOT sweet at all. I almost always finish the boba when I get it in a drink, but this time I actually had to take it out so I could finish my drink. Unfortuately I'm giving 1 star to what used to be One of my favorite boba stops for over 10 years Due to this young employee named Sean. I ordered Yulmu hot tea to go and by the time I picked it up, I realized that I didnt have $4.76 in cash. Their card minimum was $5 in order to avoid $.50 card processing charge. I was taking a moment to see (literally like for a couple minutes. No customers were in line except myself. Store was empty) if i should order Something else to meet their minimum. He impatiently looked at me with annoyed expression and said, "honestly, it's just $.50." then he tried to take out coins from his tip box and said, "I can just pay for you" I told him its ok and that I will add another item. Then he goes again, " I can give you boba for .50" I understand you are tired at the end of the day But.. You dont think I can afford $.50? AND Why would I need boba for hot yulmu tea? They dont go together.. Or Do you expect me to eat a bowl of boba like popcorns? Seriously? As a customer, I felt his words/action/attitude altogether were so rude. I part timed at a boba place myself in my old days and I find this employee absolutely disqualifying to provide a good customer service. Be sure to arrive well before 11 if you want any food, stood in line and it was 11:01 when I made it to the front. I was not allowed to order any food items. You also can't make any adjustments to the sugar level for the milk tea, as I was told that I could not adjust the sugar level for the almond milk tea which I found surprising since you can adjust the sugar level at most boba stores. read more

Talk about an overall Horrendous experience... First had to wait 10 minutes for the worker to finish his cigarette before being helped. He didn't even wash his hands before making my beverage & there was a hair in my drink. He did immediately fix me another drink which was nice. But what really UPSET me was when the worker and his friends waiting for him started speaking in Korean saying that I had no manners and was rude. I don't speak Korean, but my friend does. For only a dollar, it's a really good deal. Love it. Hot Ginger Tea is really good. Usually ginger tea that I ordered at a random place like that does not have that strong ginger spice but this does! Boba drinks is a hit or miss. Got two thai iced teas with boba & they were both watered down, told the manager that it didn't taste like thai iced tea at all and they apologized and gave us replacement drinks. Heard the manager tell the employee to just add sugar/sweetener to it. It tasted the same, just slightly sweet lol.
