They were done in an hour, which instantly raised concerns and not only that, but the AC was not even blowing cold air when they finished. Ethan told me the pressure to the high side and low side were all normal and they didn't know why it wasn't blowing cold air. He said maybe the fan is blowing the wrong direction through the grill, which was clearly not even an issue as that's the direction it's supposed to blow. At that point he didn't offer to look at it another day or anything. Then I checked other areas that potentially could be an issue and when all checked out as being properly working, I took it to the Acura dealership. They evacuated the system and instantly realized there was 1.7% air in the system and the system was only charged .26 instead of a minimum of .5. Big Problem. then they charged the system, which did take a total of three hours, and the AC was blowing cold and everything looked as it should. They added dye to the system and looked for any leaks and went over the whole AC system, which all looked good. I took the documentation showing how off these percentages were after just supposedly getting it filled by Vehicles Unlimited. I called Ethan and he refused to give me a refund and said it was not their fault. Ethan actually tried to say that the pressure was a little off all of a sudden when I was there, which was a lie, as well as other potential problems and that they didn't do anything wrong. I asked him what was the difference between leaving his Shop with no cold air blowing and the Acura dealership leaving with cold air blowing if they supposedly did the exact same thing? Ethan did not have an answer for this, all he did was try to say there's maybe other potential issues! Unbelievable! Unprofessional and refusal to take responsibility for their error. We were only about 7 miles out from our hotel, but we were worried we might be looking at a transmission replacement as it seemed like the transmission went "limp" and wouldn't change gears while driving! The team at Budget Radiator and Automotive got us in quickly, took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem, and didn't jump to conclusions or try to sell us unnecessary repairs. They found that the alternator had failed, but they didn't stop there. During the repair they discovered the serpentine belt and tensioner were also failing because the belt kept slipping off. They explained everything clearly, showed us what was happening, and made sure the repair was done correctly. After replacing the alternator, serpentine belt, and tensioner, they checked the transmission fluid at my request, (which looked great), then test drove the van for about 20 miles to make sure everything was working properly before calling us. That's the kind of attention to detail and professionalism every customer hopes for. The van now runs beautifully, all of the warning lights are gone, and we have complete confidence driving it home. When you're traveling and your vehicle breaks down hundreds of miles from home, you're putting a lot of trust in a repair shop you've never met. Joe told me my vehicle 100% needed a new motor due to a symptom he found in my engine and that the…read morevehicle was worth maybe $1000 if I wanted to sell it without repairing it. I expected and planned to be out of pocket at least $5,000 and was really upset about it. I spent the money for all the parts Joe said I needed and it burnt a pretty big hole in my wallet. I then took it to Chevrolet in Springfield the very next day and they did an inspection of the motor and found the same symptoms as well. They then took my motor apart and told me to look at it with them. The head gaskets, timing chain, head bolts, and valve cover gaskets that Joe told me I needed to replace were 100% fine and needed no reason to repair. All it needed was a new thermostat housing and coolant leak to attend to. I don't believe EMS physically looked at anything in my motor and just gave me a quote for a new motor after finding one symptom that could realistically mean a lot of things that could be wrong. I ended up only paying under $500 for the repairs and the car had zero problems after the repairs and I ended up selling it for much more profit then what I bought it for. I wouldn't have a problem with any of this if Joe just took the time to physically look into the problem instead of just telling me that I needed a new motor after finding one thing wrong and then just stopped looking in to it. I just feel like they tried to cheat me in giving them $3,000 to order a new motor and pay the $2,000 in labor when all I needed was just a thermostat. I won't be taking any of my vehicles to Joe anymore. He's a very friendly man but only did half the job.
