We were actually heading to Bar Harbor, but this was on Diners Drive Ins and Dives, and it was a must try. We ordered the lobster roll (subbed the fries for onion rings) and a bowl of New England clam chowder. The lobster meat was so plump and juicy and sweet - Maine always has the best lobster rolls! The onion rings were made with real onions - had a very light fried batter which was good because I could actually taste the onions. We drove from Boston to try out this place and it did not disappoint. We came here on a weekday afternoon for lunch and it was a little busy. They are short staffed so we were told prior to placing our order that the wait is approximately 35 minutes, but we ended up only waiting about 20 minutes. We stopped by on a relatively warm and comfortable Saturday and found it crowded but with enough social distancing. Amazing! This is a total must-do when in Maine! The parking lot is small, but there is usually an attendant who will guide you on where and how to park. There are definitely less crowded times to go here. Around 1-2pm in the afternoon on a weekday is when we found the fewest people. The process is quick. You order at one of the order windows and wait for your order number to be called. The menu is posted in large print right by the order and pickup windows. Use the wait time, which isn't very long, to wander the small setup and look at all the signs and everything. You can also fill up your drinks if you ordered any and grab a seat. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. To have the most authentic experience, you should opt to sit outside. There's benches and picnic tables and umbrellas. And there's even a somewhat enjoyable view. We opted to order the fried clam strips. Holy moly! So delicious! The batter they're fried in just perfection. I guarantee you've never had clam strips that taste like these. And there's several different dipping sauces and various takes on tarter sauces that you can order too. This meal cost $26.98 for roughly under 4ounces of lobster meat with onion rings. It did not present well with the cost. Though a lot of travelers love this place, so the food must taste great? 2-Quality? The lobster meat tasted fresh, I had a bit of claw meat where the claw just tasted like rubber, mixed in with tail. Overall it was ok, not the best and not extravagant for $26.98 there are better. 3-Quantity- you can see from the picture I posted, it just wasn't there.. if you asked me, if I was still hungry, "I was." There wasn't a choice between a small lobster roll or a large one. Where as some lobster eateries would offer. Again, $26.98 for a small under or 4 ounce lobster is what you pay for. 4- Taste- the lobster roll had a hint of sweetness, I do enjoy this taste as it's a sign of freshness and a product from where they come from.
