Tranquil view of Piscataqua River outside

I always look forward to a solid and satisfying "shore dinner" of steamed Maine lobster with all the trimmings and Cape Neddick Lobster Pound fit the bill. It was a quiet evening but relaxing and our server was terrific and friendly. I had a local brew (The Lunch IPA, I think) and then my wife and I started off with a dozen oysters - which were a buck-a-shuck on this Tuesday! Great deal! The oysters were good, cold and mild. I had my lobster dinner and it was delicious. I added a cup of clam chowder which was also very nice. I only wish the sides - which were dinner rolls, corn kernels, and cole slaw - included a baked potato but oh well. My wife had their fried haddock taco salad and she said it was very good. We then shared a slice of excellent chocolate truffle cake - that and a couple of cups of hot strong coffee plus the tranquil view of the Piscataqua River outside - made for a lovely evening.

Cape Neddic Lobster Pound 9-8-25 Stopped by here for dinner as the menu had a great selection of seafood on it. This place didn't look like much on the outside, but the inside was clean, neat and beautiful. Our waitress Morgan came and took our order as they were not that busy. I ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder and the Baked Haddock which consisted of Haddock topped with Cracker Crumbs, Sherry, Butter, and Lobster Cream Sauce served with Asparagus and Mashed Potato. I changed my Asparagus to Corn on the Cob. My wife ordered the same thing minus the Clam Clowder. It took a while for Morgan to bring out our Haddock meals, but I must tell you they looked amazing. First thing I asked Morgan did she forget our Clam Chowder and could we please get butter for our Corn. I did want the Clam Chowder first as an appetizer and butter should always go with Corn, but it was the last thing we got. These are simple mistakes that should not have happened if you're on the ball. I must be honest; the food was amazing. The Haddock flavor was out of this world. The Mashed were ok and the Corn was fine, but the star of the show was the Haddock for sure. I would have given this place a 5-star rating as their food was that good, but the service was not up to par. I must only give this place 4 stars. In town to visit friends and stopped in for an early dinner. No wait so we were seated quickly. Service was good, our waitress was prompt and checked in a decent amount. Food came out quickly as well. Food was good! Good variety and options for the kids too, the most exciting part is the kids meals are served in paper boats. Clam chowder was good lots of fillings. The haddock taco salad was a good size however has a bit of a kick that I was not expecting. The haddock Rachel was delicious, messy but tasty! The seafood pasta was also a good size and came with lots of seafood fillings. The drink menu had a variety of mixed drinks. The view is undeniable with it being right next to the water and the ambiance was casual and relaxed. It was a nice place to stop in for dinner with the family.

Good food, poor service. Our family stopped in for dinner at the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound. We have come here for years and we wanted to find out how it is doing under new management. Not well! We had an appetizer of pretzel and cheese, but the pretzel was slightly burned. We had a flavorful cioppino seafood stew, but the restaurant forgot to serve it with bread. We had a barbecued chicken, but the chicken was brought out 25 minutes after the other entrées were served. Our lobster rolls were flavorful with lots of lobster meat and the barbecue chicken was delicious.... But we experienced big problems with service here tonight

Returned this year for our third time. Waited about 45 min for a table but didn't mind. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and the drinks were great. Once we got to the table we ordered dollar oysters, steamed clams, mussels, salad and lobster stew. All were delicious! Our entrees were just as good. Of note, the scallops are amazing and the surf and turf a must try with delicious filet mignon and tender tasty lobster meat. By the time we were done the kitchen had closed and it was too late for dessert. We were disappointed because the wait for the table was so long. The waitress mentioned problems with mgmt and that a change in personnel had just occurred. I hope they get that taken care of because the place has become a favorite of ours. It's clean and nicely decorated and the food is fantastic. The waitress was friendly and attentive and we'll definitely return the next time we're in Maine.

The view and food at Cape Neddick Lobster Pound can't be beat. Such a casual but relaxing feel inside

They serve up lobster rolls (mayo or buttered), fried belly clams (& rolls), crab rolls, smoked brisket brats, chicken fingers, lobster stew, lobster dip, lobster ABLT, chips, cookies, H-Jays frozen custard, soft drinks, lemonade and iced tea. At the time of this posting, their website was still under construction and they will be offering DoorDash delivery. There are picnic tables in front of the trailer. After an appointment nearby, I stopped by the Trapped in York Maine food trailer. I decided to order a Small Trapped Meal ($24 plus tax) with a Small Lobster Roll, bag of Cape Cod Sea Salt Chips, watermelon cubes, 2 homemade Maine spice cookies, and a fresh lemonade. My order was prepared to order in about 8 minutes. I enjoyed my food outside. The Lobster Roll (3 oz of knuckle & claw meat in mayo) on a toasted New England hot dog roll. The watermelon and chips were good sides for the Maine style lobster roll. The 2 homemade sweet Maine spice cookies were soft and chewy. The iced lemonade was refreshing, as I enjoyed the rest in the ride after finishing my meal.

I was excited to find out that they are in fact open on Sundays- so Yelp is wrong about that. I got the large which is 6 oz on a hot buttered brioche roll, which can be served cold with just mayo, or warm with butter. I opted for the latter. It was DELICIOUS - more tail than claw- which made me extra happy!! The service was outstanding, I believe the owner was there- but the young lady was also quite sweet. They answered all my questions, both on the phone, and in person. I also ordered the haddock and fries for tomorrow- but of course I tried it. So tender and flaky!! Their fries are hand cut, and have both sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. So good! Lunch is going to be great tomorrow! The place is a yellow food truck, so seating is casual at picnic tables. It is quite lovely! I was hungry- so I had already taken a few bits of my lobster roll- sorry about that haha

The same food and drink is served there, but you'll need to communicate that with the host at the restaurant (there was some pushback from the rooftop bar staff when we came about them not being able to seat us because the host needed to make that decision and then tell them; whereas the host at the restaurant told us to just go on over). + The drink I had was good: I got a blackberry sour that was refreshing. If we had had more time, I would have also tried the painkillah' with a rum floater. And, honestly, the mocktails sounded great too! Also, their glassware is lovvvveeellly, make sure you pay attention to that! + They've got vegan options: While we didn't order food, I would have loved to have tried the vegan "crabby" cakes with cilantro aioli! -/+ The views are not unbroken: while you'll be able to take in panoramic views of the ocean, they're disrupted by an abundance of black power lines (this is not true if you're sitting in the restaurant, but you will have loads of people lingering on the sidewalk next to you waiting to be seated). Expect it to be VERY busy in the summer! I see myself returning here when it's a wee bit quieter.

They serve various size of lobsters as well as cook them for you. However they do not provide place to eat or utensils so they function more as a market than a restaurant. They have sort of a parking lot where you can park. There are few works on the back hanging around and 2 younger staff that take care of orders. Lobster has quite few size options and some explanations for terms they use. We weren't sure what to get but figure we wanted larger size lobsters. SLX which is the largest ones were $14 per pound. They can also let you pick them live as well but we chose 2 lb ones. They charge $1.5 to boil but it's a-lot of work to boil properly so it's worth it. We waited about 20-25minutes or so and they also chilled it so that we can take it home to eat. Luckily we had ice box with some ice packs so it kept the lobster fresh until getting home. Once we got home we opened the bag to eat the lobster. It's a huge lobster with large claws. We got a large bowl and separate plate to eat. It was a massive task to crack the claws as one of the claw was huge and very tough. We ended up using a hammer and dull knife to crack them open. The meat was tender and sweet. One of the best maine lobster we had. Overall the place provides fresh maine lobster for good price. Only issue is that they don't serve it so you will need to plan to take it home and have tools to crack them open. They also only take cash. If i were to come back i would give them a call a head of time to have the lobster prepared to go and pick them up which seems to be what other people were doing.

The entire building is small but feels very inviting and comfortable. The atmosphere is iconic with out of this world 90s cartoons painted on the walls. Even the bathroom had a touch of this nostalgia and whimsy (trust me look in the bathroom mirror for an amazing little touch). The staff were equally amazing and truly wonderful. I am currently pregnant and being very careful about what I eat so my husband asked the bartender/waiter if the feta is pasteurized. Most people would have simply said I don't know and moved on but this fellow went and asked the kitchen if the feta is pasteurized (it is). It's little things like that that make us want to go back. Now on to the star the food and drink! We had the soft pretzel which comes with beer cheese and stone ground honey mustard and the fried feta. The pretzel was great and the beer cheese was also great but the feta was indescribable. Every aspect of the feta was perfect and a true umami experience. I got the adult happy meal (a smash burger, chicken nuggets, and fries). It also comes with a toy which is just cherry on top status. The burger was fantastic BUT the fries and nuggets were crazy good. My husband got Flo's Double Burger and he had eaten half of it before I got mine out of the box. Lobster shack has seating and bathrooms. Price: On a Monday post lunch hour, I ordered the Lobster roll with clam chowder soup. Foot bridge is cheaper if you buy the combo outside of the lunch special hour compared to lobster shack. If you buy during lunch hour, they both are about similar in pricing. FOOD: The biggest difference between the two was TEXTURE. Footbridge offered a bouncy/chewier texture while Lobster Shack offered a softer easier to pull apart lobster. Secondly, the bread is slightly smaller at footbridge but the meat is 5oz almost singular piece versus lobster rolls multiple smaller pieces. Clam chowder was similar in the sense that footbridge had a thicker milkier consistency like most New England clam chowder while Lobster shack had more meat/substance but thinner liquid base with a somewhat coconut type taste. Both lobsters and clam chowder are unique and tasty in their own way and all boils down to preference. Lobster shack also had a pickle on the side but the price is slightly higher which all in all boils down to whether you like to chew or just wolf down that lobster roll.
