This is a great morning diner, very traditional and exactly what you'd expect from all the good and bad stereotypes. The decoration was very 50s-60s, with teal walls, red glitter chairs and the white tables. The staff was as friendly as they needed to be, and the food was fast. The diner is pretty crowded. We went for brunch on a Saturday and we waited 20 min for 2 people. In the end, we got a tiny table in the middle of the room constantly surrounded by people walking around. Additionally, if you have any type of anxiety towards loud or crowded spaces, THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU! My guest had trouble staying calm and the breakfast turned pretty stressful after a while. The food was pretty well done. They have a lot of smothered options with their tasty green chili. The Kitchen Sink was a very tasty option if you're looking for a cheap, big breakfast. It's a little bit spicy but not too much that it'll hurt. All in all, very good place for a typical diner experience. Exactly what you'd expect from an old fashion diner. read more

I have a question for the management, if you have 2 2 tops pushed together outside and it's empty, why would you deny 2 people the experience of sitting outside? What's the difference if it's 2 people at 2 tables or 4 at one? It was my first time there, end of summer and really wanted to Sit outside but the hostess said "no, we reserve that for a party of 4) which Mede me feel less than important, and ruined my experience. Inside it's small and you feel very cramped. The food is fine, what I expected for a dine. However, the coffee was crap which I have higher expectations for these days. Everyone is capable of serving great coffee. I won't go back. Sorry but average food and poor customer service doesn't deserve a second try with so many other good restaurants to choose from. read more

Located at Historic Downtown Louisville, this little diner offers classic American fare with some Mexican twists. Used to be a sandwich shop but now they are also serving full breakfast and dinner. I have visited Bob's about 2-3 times/month over the past 2 years. During that time I've learned some things: *The owner of this establishment is pompous, pretty much intolerable and flat out rude. He has a facade of kindness but don't let that fool you. *I've noticed some questionable hygienic practices from Bob - ie. handling money and immediately going to prepare somebody's meal. *Chicken/fish/meat is typically very over cooked. *During lunch don't expect to get your food inside of 20 minutes. I could go on but I will tell you that I will never visit this establishment again - I can't wait for the place across the street to open. Bob's Sandwich Shop is a cute, little restaurant in Historic Downtown Louisville. I absolutely love the tropical salad. It has slivered almonds, mandarin oranges, and pineapple topped with a wonderful fruity dressing. This is just the perfect meal for when I want something light. I am not an egg eater, but my husband is and he loves the breakfast burrito. Some mornings he wakes up craving it. You must get it with the green chili. Great diner with a classic feel and tons of food options. It's located in the main downtown area of Louisville. We went a bit earlier than the average brunch time so there was plenty of street-metered parking available. Food is great and comes in huge portions. The Bloody Mary was really fantastic and worth the return trip alone. Prices are average, but portions are worth it. Definitely recommend and would be happy to come back! read more

The people giving Bob's bad reviews? Don't listen to them. I've been going to Bob's for four years and it's fantastic every time. Even when busy I never remember waiting. The food is always delicious, very typical diner fare, but beyond your normal IHOP quality without additional price. The people who give this place a bad review clearly enjoy going to corporate places like IHOP and Five Guys where the quality is never different and you never have to wait because it's fast food. The other half of the bad reviews of people complaining they got their feelers hurt.... so instead of going to the manager or having any personal confrontation that could lead to a beneficial result for you, you go online and teach them a lesson with your one star review... lets not forget this is someone's livelihood you're "reviewing". The restaurant business is a hard business and though you want to you can't always please everyone. A good review rates the restaurant on tangible points, food, environment, price, etc. A bad review is a personal rant, which most of these are... It was an abnormally warm February day in Colorado, and after being turned away from another near by breakfast spot (we have a dog and needed to sit outside) we walked down to BOBS and they were more than accommodating to us and our pup. They allowed us to sit outside and Bob even served us himself. He is the nicest man and just a pleasure to speak to during your weekend brunch. On top of the amazing service we received, we order their special: biscuits with sausage and jalapeño bacon gravy and the most perfectly cooked poached egg on top that beautifully spilled over our delicious homestyle breakfast sandwich. A side of potatoes and a morning breakfast drink, the meal was absolutely delicious. We had a couple of brunch drinks. A mimosa, which was in no way one of those shamefully tiny champagne glasses, but came in a standard wine glass with a true opaqueness that shows it isn't just orange juice with a "splash" of champagne but that you are truly getting a nice, full drink. We also ordered a Bloody Mary that happily came with a perfectly cooked slice of bacon and a shot of beer. More than anything, Bob was the best part of the meal. My boyfriend and I tried Bobs Diner for lunch. The place was seemingly ran by one lady who's service was on point. I ordered the corned beef philly due to get suggestion with the pasta salad as my side. My bf got the burger special which was a jalepeno bacon cheeseburger. Food came out super quick. The flavors were super good, nothing out of this world but yummy. That takes down one star because the food didn't wow me. Although the pasta salad was the best I've ever had. Walked in for breakfast on a Sunday morning and managed to beat the rush. Tables are a little small and it's definitely a tight space but they make it work. Friendly staff all around! I ordered a big slam, my brother-in-law got a tex mex burrito (special for the day) and my sister got the james. All were great! My 1/2 biscuits and gravy weren't as warm as I would have liked but the gravy was delicious!! Loved the pancakes and the blueberry walnut ones in the james were great too. Definitely returning. The food is delicious. Blueberry pancakes are toe curling. 4 out of 5 visits however leave you flabbergasted at the half-assed, unaware, amateur, insufficient staffing. The owners of Bob's would do well to take a 30,000 foot view of a typical day and fix the problems thru training, hiring and incentives. There are customers who want to give you their money, pretending to give a shit about wanting it would get you half way there. Recently a waiter refused to seat standing, waiting hungry customers at 2 empty patio tables for no known reason. (There are only 4 6 tables outside so we're talking 1/3 of them purposely empty on a busy Sunday during brunch). Even if there is an excellent explanation for this behavior, at the very least the waiters communication skills were wholly absent. For a place with tasty breakfast food and a nice location, the service borders on government work and for the most part the entire place is unaware and unapologetic about it. In fairness, there is one excellent waitress who makes sure that even the patron's pets are tended to and runs the place like a champ. She is outnumbered by mediocrity or worse. Would love to understand what causes most visits to be excruciating instead of enjoyable, but dang those pancakes!! Yum. Bring your own syrup! So much better! read more

I couldn't get the mysterious chunks out of head for the remainder of the day. We couldn't get refills for our water so we had walk up to the waitress to ask and when she came back with them she said,"I'm used to being busier, so I forgot about." So, if this tiny place was packed you'd remember our refills?
