Relative to other Diners and I have been to the best of them near Philly and NYC, Bob's food is very good. Stop there once or twice a year with family coming down from Ludlow, VT. Great tradition after skiing. Soups are nice, hash is excellent, burgers are good, shakes top it off. It's a little grungy and service is usually ok. Definitely at stop if nearby. read more

Great breakfast. I ordered the 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes. The eggs were the best I've ever had! The sausage was very very good. The pancakes were excellent. The only strange thing was the waitress asked me, "would you like 'real' Vermont maple syrup or Mrs. Buttersworth?" Ummmmm, Vermont, of course!!! Update: we went back a third time and asked to taste the hollandaise first, after the waitress said it was exceptional. It was not. I have no idea how much lemon they use, but they should start calling it a lemon hollandaise! Corn flake dipped French toast was awesome, minus the skinny bread. After one breakfast here, I am ready to pronounce Bob's to be the perfect diner. The all-important hash brown test? Passed with flying colors. Our waitress said the cornbeef hash would be the best we ever tried - and she was right! Everything is made from scratch with wonderful attention to detail. Now I really want to go back to try the beefalo and other lunch and dinner items. Bob's diner has a wonderful old fashioned atmosphere. They have an extensive menu and breakfast is served all day. Overall the food was quite good, the only complaint was ordering the skillet special. It was primarily potatoes and not a lot of veggies and sausage as it was described. The flavors were good but just not enough of the good stuff! Overall, a very pleasant experience and I will be back! read more

I love diners and thought I would give this place a shot. The place was empty and very clean, I thought it had to do with the offseason traveling and day of the week. The waitress was friendly and smiled plenty she greeted me quickly and took my order. I had a hamburger, fries, and an oatmeal to go in the event that I would get hungry later in the day since it was an early dinner for me. I sat there for a while alone and cold, meanwhile, the cook made his way out from the back and socialized away with another man behind the counter (the owner?). Both men looked like they jumped out of bed and forgot to groom, we made eye contact a few times no acknowledgment made that my food was taking forever and I was there patiently waiting while my stomach slowly ate itself. The end result, I could have made a better hamburger at home. The oatmeal was better. read more

We drove by on our way into town early Saturday morning and by the time we got back there was a line waiting for a table. We got on the list and about 20 minutes later our group of 7 were seated at a booth meant for 4. We quickly realized that eating like this would be close to impossible so we waited for a larger table and moved (they did this to another party right after us who also seemed to be waiting for a larger table to be available before ordering). I ordered lunch while everyone else got breakfast and everyone seemed pleased with their meals, me, not so much. I got the open face hot roast beef and although the beef was tender enough, both it and the mashed potatoes were flavorless and the gravy looked more like turkey gravy, not beef, it was a cream color and not very tasty but after a lot of salt and pepper it was at least edible. Our server was very nice and attentive but doubtful I'd come back. Note to management- you'd be better served not holding up 4 person booths by cramming large parties into them in hopes they'll be so hungry they'll compromise their comfort and ability to actually enjoy their meal, just explain the wait could be a bit or offer to split them up. read more

This is diner fare at its best! Any of the breakfast skillets/omelets ...I've had a few and DEFINITELY the corned beef hash! Their chili in the winter will warm you up. Their hamburgers come with the necessary fittings (lettuce, onions) on the side. My favorite is the Bacon Cheddar Burger. Their coffee is freshly ground and they offer a selection of beers. I like to sit at the counter right as you enter to be able to view the dishes as they come out. They also make killer waffles! It's diner decor and down to earth dining that should put a smile on your face. read more

After eating my food and sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee I which one of the cooks pick food up off a costumers plate with his fingers than ate it and the other cook counting money on the cutting board and both just go right back to cooking without washing there hands kinda gross kinda had me wondering when was the last time you guys wash your hands?! First thing I noticed when I walked in was the stuffy heat inside. The ventilation must not be working correctly, it's suffocating almost. Overall vibe is nice, big fan of the retro diner style. Waitstaff seems friendly enough. Ordered a rueben and a cup of chili. Tasty sandwich, a bit oversauced with thousand island. Chili I did not care for, it's akin to gas station chilli from a bag, flavorless and cheap. Price is about a dollar or 2 more expensive than other diners of similar size. Awesome! Ordered the Turkey Dinner - tasted like Thanksgiving. Husband ordered the Fish and Chips - it was crispy and tender and delicious. The coffee was great which I never expect from a diner. The home fries were amazing and a must have. There was no problem with splitting the check or paying. It was inexpensive and delicious. Bob's is a great place for breakfast. Not your typical diner food. Everything here is cooked to order and nice fresh clean food. They have these cast iron skillet breakfasts loaded with all kinds of veggies and home fries and cheese and then topped with a couple of eggs prepared how you like them. All serves in a cast iron skillet. Their toast is made with house made hearty bread. It is delicious. So as far as breakfast this place is definitely recommended. read more

We have frequented Bob's for 10 years, and for the most part it has been really good. We have always eaten breakfast here and dinner once. The only time we ordered dinner was in july where we had ordered a beefalo burger medium well. It came out mooing. I wasn't sending them back since you never know what you'll get.This is anywhere, not just Bob's. We have thoroughly enjoyed many skillets which are very tasty. Their iced tea is great and they also have beer on tap, very tasty. BUT, we were dining this past weekend and finishing up our breakfast when i took notice to coughing. The two male cooks were coughing behind the grill. Not alarming until you watch how it was done. The first one coughed into his hands and then touched several items. Now i didn't see him touch the bread that is open behind the counter for french toast, but it was still nasty. The other guy, coughed into a white hand towel draped over his shoulder and also into his hands. Now i know he touches the bread for the french toast. I normally don't get grossed out over this conduct, but we had just eaten. I asked a waitress who had been there for quite a while if it was normal to do this and she said that she didn't ever notice it. We really enjoyed their food, but after seeing this nasty display, we will never go back after 10 years. They are always open for breakfast, but are only open for dinner certain nights. read more
