He was quick to ask how hungry we were and suggested portions for the empanadas. It definitely lacks ambiance and seems run down but sometimes, that's why hole-in-the- wall places survive- the good is what to come back to. We chose to sit outside where there were shared stone patio tables with another eatery. My family ordered empanadas (beef, chicken, ham & cheese), cheeseburger & thick fries, and the chicken schwarma sandwich (which was actually a wrap in lavish bread). Drinks were all canned in a cooler and bottled water was available too- no fountain beverages. The food was cooked in front of us while we waited and it was fresh tasting and portioned well. I'm waiting for my falafel sandwich and looking around the inside of the place. It's dirty. There is a missing vent register in the ceiling and I can see behind the wall and the floors need sweeping. It's 12:15pm. There is only one man cooking and running the register. He is very nice very kind, personable, and just a pleasure to talk to. He even offered me a free bottle of water. However, the more I look in his kitchen from the register everything is dirty and broken and old in need of some upgrades and cleaning. Just not a clean kitchen . I think he was doing the best he could . My falafel sandwich was cold. I expected the falafels to be hot and rest cold but everything was cold. The taste was ok and it was very messy. COVID REVIEW: I found this place on Yelp a few weeks ago on my way back from Joshua Tree. I was looking for a place that had Halal meat, as I have a dietary restriction. I was so happy to find this spot that had such amazing variety. The owner was working there and was so nice and even allowed me to try a couple of things that he set aside in a sample cup. The chicken shawarma is delicious and the garlic sauce is equally delicious. I ended up ordering a chicken kabob plate and I must say the chicken was so fresh and tender! I was not impressed by the rice at all, but the hummus and salad as the sides made up for it. We also ordered the cheeseburger as the owner insisted and we were not disappointed. It tasted like a good old homemade burger, and I mean that in a good way. All ingredients tasted fresh and the meat was perfectly cooked. There's ample parking outside the restaurant and even a few outdoor dining tables. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed! The chicken kabobs were excellent with juicy chicken done perfectly on a bed of delicious yellow rice. The basic entree comes with a small salad, some hearty garlic sauce, and a side of hummus...oh, along with some kabob veggies. The name is misleading because the menu is mostly middle eastern. I hate to give a bad review these days. But the food is mediocre and overpriced. From the outside it looks okay, but inside it's a whole other story. The tables are dirty. A mop is sitting out. We were wondering if it was open because no one was visible until the woman came out. She was friendly and cleaned the table for us. Sorry I didn't walk out at that point. The lamb sandwich had barely any lamb. The appetizer plate with hummus, babaganoush, dolmas and empanadas was meh. Pita was stale and cold. Of everything, the empanadas were the only thing that seemed fresh. So I've been thinking about this review for a couple days now, but my Husband and I came here for the first time a few days ago. He does grubhub and he would get deliveries here so he said let's try it out.... We both got the double double combos and ate mostly our fries there and a couple bites from our burgers. We decided to take the rest of the burgers home. The food was great so that's partially why they're getting 3 stars and the customer service was great. Unfortunately when I took my 2nd bite when I got home I bit on something very hard that kinda hurt just because it was hard. I spit it out and it was GLASS. I found a small shard in my burger had I bit on it wrong I could've gotten seriously injured. Fortunately it didnt stab me and my tooth had only hurt for a moment from biting on it. I couldnt continue with my food and my husband decided to not eat his any further.... Let me say the food was great and they gave me a full refund and a meal card for in-n-out as well. The staff was great! I went in and ordered, and the woman who served me and cooked was working hard and did a great job. Meanwhile, the boss was complaining to me about her and what a terrible worker she was. I came here with high hopes because the place had such great reviews. But while I was there the two people working got into a huge argument and were fighting the entire time. The man kept complaining about his ex girlfriend and was more concerned about looping us as customers into his personal drama then trying to take our orders/make the food. Then, when the woman (who I believe was his ex girlfriend that he was badmouthing) was helping cook, he continued to hurl insults at her in front of us. It was extremely unprofessional and I felt terrible for the woman. I usually refrain from posting bad reviews but I genuinely felt unsafe there. Right when I had gotten up to leave because I had enough, he told me my burger was ready (which it wasn't, he just said that to keep me there) but I was really trying to be nice and give them the benefit of the doubt. I ended up paying for my food and even left a small tip because I don't believe in not tipping. But my burger came out really messy and my fries had hair in them. This was the worst, most uncomfortable service I had ever received. The guy kept begging me to please come back the whole time and continued to create an uncomfortable environment for everyone. I normally dislike leaving bad reviews, but for one, the food we ordered was very salty and tasted old. I did not feel well after eating inside the restaurant. My daughter who loves to eat did not want to eat anything but the fries. I wanted one empanada but the owner kept insisting to get three, so I did and they were not the best. The Chicken Shawarma was not the best either, the chicken was too salty and didn't taste good. The owner was really nice and really talkative which I liked but was too distracted handling everything he was doing. I guess his register was done so he charged me twice. The first time he said it didn't go through so I did it again and he still said his system wasn't working. Well now, I'm trying to get a refund over paying twice for my food and he is telling me his system is not working because of the holidays. He insisted on giving me more food but I said no. I felt sick after eating his food so I will not be going back again. I just want him to give me the extra $46.00 I paid. He said it was fine, he would give me a refund but when I showed up he started saying and giving me so many excuses. I told him cash would work and he still didn't want to work with me.
