I've been wanting to come here for the longest and have finally made my way to try Bodega PDX. Trying to find a chopped cheese replica that I had in New York has been very tough in the city. The bodega vibe was definitely there. The people making our food and taking our orders were pretty dope. They were pretty fast with the food and even cracked a few jokes along the way. The chopped cheese was great, but a little too salty for my liking. It's probably the closest thing I've had in Portland to a chopped cheese. I'm excited to try their other sandwiches soon.

I usually love coming here for a sandwich, there was a new person in there today. His energy was ALOT, I asked for light mayo and mustard. It was not light at all. It was slathered all in the lettuce.. it was so much I took all the lettuce out of my sandwich. What's the point of customizing a sandwich to my liking if it's not made the way I ordered it?

I came here for lunch one day and had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Located on Foster, this shop has been one that I've driven by hundreds of times but never stopped in, and after trying it, I wish I came by sooner. Bodega is both a sandwich shop as well as a small convenience store/deli, where you can buy other packaged goods and drinks. I got two sandwiches and both were HUGE. You're definitely getting your moneys worth. I got the Johnny Sacks with sourdough bread while my friend got the Chopped Cheese with parmesan bread. I've tried both and while the Johnny Sacks was delicious, next time I would love to get the Chopped Cheese (WITH the parmesan bread!). In the end, both of us could only eat half as the portions were huge (but it was even more delicious toasted in an airfryer as leftovers!). This is definitely a favorite in Portland.

Fun little stop for some quick yummy food or any convenience items. I of course had to come here for the famous pickle sandwich and it did not disappoint. Love the fast and friendly service. Great spot to sit outside in the summer but this is a store and not suited for large groups and tight indoor seating.

Finally had a chance to stop in to try since I pass by here often. Your able to order online or call it in ahead of time. Staff was super friendly over the phone and in person w pickup. Ordered a chop cheese which had mad flavor flav but next time I think I'll get the bread not toasted. The place is stacked w snacks and drinks galore...even cake or tiramisu if ya so desire. Seating is a few picnic style benches out front. I'll def think of this place next time I'm hankering for hearty sammy.

It is a convenience store, or small grocery store which is what Bodega means. The workers are always very friendly. They sell really good sandwiches. They have a New York favorite called the chopped cheese which is delicious! You must have a sandwich from here!

+ lots of unique chips and drinks which I appreciate it. got chinese lays and marrionberry soda. sandwiches and cannoli were good. all they would need for 5 stars is a bodega cat

I made it back to try another sandwich on the menu. The Carmela was my 2nd choice on my first visit. It was beautiful upon opening! For bread, I went with the Parmesan, but I wish I hadn't. The sandwich was pretty salty, like a muffuletta in a way, but the Parmesan added more saltiness in my opinion. The flavors were almost overwhelming like good salt & vinegar chips, leaving my mouth a little raw or dehydrated. I still enjoyed it! The peppers are delicious on any sandwich it seems. I'll try another sandwich. I did notice on this visit that many items in the aisles don't have prices and that was bothersome. I didn't want to grab a candy bar and hear some ridiculous price.

I've been going to Bodega for years and love it. I usually get the Adriana. And love to walk around to grab a drink and chips. However, the amount of meat on the sandwiches has gotten somewhat nonexistent. I still go, but then I remember when I get my sandwich. It's tough because I do love them but $18 for a sandwich with two slices of meat and lots of bread is a bummer. I guess go and see because the sandwich combos are great.

Are you seeking a solid deli sandwich joint you will return to when a loaded sub is an unavoidable craving? Bodega might be your place with a few needed quantifiers in place. Great subs,not the place you want to enjoy them at because its a super market on a busy street . Let's assume your not the slob eating it in your car I totally would be if I didn't temporarily live close by. These loaded beauties would suffice the average on the go worker but if you can wait until you get home this is where they get societal. Turn your oven or toastier implement to 375. Wait 2 min. Unwrap and insert sub into the oven for optimal bread performance. Two minutes tops. ((We love bahnmi for the loving crunchy bread texture filled with pickled and ungracious yet beautiful meat filling.)) This is NOT that kind of place but if you have the patience to get one home and lightly toast in the oven, you will have upped your sub game by 150%. CRunchy soft bread (thanks to you ) with their fixings is tier-one sandwich action. As a chef i always enjoy going the extra mil for my customers and my own food, If you agree or dont that's cool but this pace gets 5 stars for effort/quality/value. It's up to us to make it epic! This place is incredible. I had a build your own with lentil field roast plant based meat and the mac n cheese. The bread was amazing, the sandwich super tasty and filling, the Mac and cheese was garlicky perfection. Also got a kombucha. What a treat! read more

So we live nearby and have been eating these sandos once a week or more all pandemic and they are so good and the people are very nice and you can also get everything else you could possibly want there as well. I'm going with a 5 because of the atmosphere alone. The guys were friendly and they had lots of local items stocked. We went with the Gabagool and it was fucken delicious!! So glad my husband is obsessed with The Sopranos and happened to find this place while visiting Portland. read more

I'm really disappointed with bodega after today, I would give this establishment a lower review but I've been here a handful of times before and what I've noticed is that when the guys are working the sandwiches come out perfect and delicious, but when the ladies are working they mess up the sandwiches and they give you horrible attitude along with it. My mom and I ordered two subs mine was the bada bing, it was way to sloppy, to much Mayo and mustard, it got soggy quick, the bacon was so nasty and old, I couldn't believe they would put old meat on a fresh sub, and the bread was pretty stale. Actually very disgusting I got a stomach ache just from the nasty bacon that I ate, I happened to noticed it when I opened the sandwich because I thought it looked off. Also when my mom went to pick up the sandwiches the middle eastern lady said " what do you want" my mom told her she ordered food over the phone and that she was a bit early, the lady looked at her and said " YOU need to wait you ordered 5 minutes ago" when my my mom already explained she came early because we live close by and don't mind waiting... ridiculous the guys never give so much attitude, the few times I went there and was served by them. read more

This is the second sandwich I've gotten from this place,I also went to pick up a sandwich and purchase beer. The sandwiches are probably some of the best I have ever had. Worth the price,they can feed you for two meals. I also got a chocolate covered Twinkie which they make in house,which was also stellar. They have a great beer selection,rivaling a lot of specialized bottleshops,and their prices are pretty similar so you aren't getting gouged. The clerk was cool and made my sandwich while I poked around for beer before I had to pay. Everyone inside was wearing a mask,as well as the staff. There is a small area to wait for food if you don't feel like waiting outside. I hope they keep it up! read more

Simply put, some of the best sandwiches in Portland. Been slowly working my way through the menu, and every one has been top notch. Sure, they are a little on the spendy side, but they are freakin' huge. Always get two meals out of one sandwich. Piled high with meat and toppings. Can take awhile. Wow, this store is amazing! I ordered the Waste Management sub with avocado. The half sandwich is only $7.50 and is huge! Bigger and tastier than the Subway footlong. They use high quality ingredients and homemade sauces. The Mama Lil's Peppers are delicious. They also sell homemade potato salad, multiple flavors of hummus, bean salad, and more deli items. There is a great selection of beverages including cans of Oregon beers from around the State such as Boneyard, Pfriem, Fort George, Buoy, and Hopworks. The market carries the essential food items such as milk, bread, eggs, and snack foods. I'm happy to have this store in the neighborhood! read more

Wow!! This place is dope! There's an abundance of snacks, drinks, deli items and more to choose from. I ordered the BLT, the Cheese Chop and the Philly. They were all ! The customer service exceeded my expectations when they forgot one of my sandwiches. I didn't even notice, they called me and ended up delivering it to the park I was at. I will without a doubt be back and spreading the word! read more

Finally. A normal deli. Basic build if yourself sandwich on a roll. Large, stacked and with a decent price. I grew tired of searching for a sandwich shop other than Eastside deli. Tired of gourmet $13 pork belly and Dijon mustard sandwich. $14.50 Red pepper Basil, goat cheese with arugula sandwich. A turkey sandwich with shit you don't want in it sandwich that's 15 bucks with no chips. Bodega got it right. It's a Corner store with sandwiches. I honestly hope more neighborhoods follow this idea. Let's bring back affordable food that can feed you twice. read more

I work in the are and have been going here for years, but the new owner has really transformed the place. Great sandwiches, friendly staff, good selection of beer and drinks and home made baklava and salads. With 4 markets to choose from in just 3 blocks this is by far my favorite, and I often stop by to get a sandwich even on my days off. Side note: On Christmas Eve (tonight) the owner helped by brother jump start his car after his battery died. Thats some solid community minded and kind stuff right there! read more

These sandwiches are bomb. The $12 shown on the yelp menu is for the large. Which is like HUGE! I got the smaller one. 8" I think. It was $8 and very filling. Super nice staff from Bar Maven. Same owners. Great beer selection. Like really really good beer selection. read more

This isn't one of the fancier brewpubs in Portland (looking at you 10 Barrel and Deschutes) but that's never been the Crux brand so I'm happy to see them stick to their down to the earth origins and focus on making really good beer. The bar is nice and long and a good place to post up for a couple of pints, with plenty of cheery tenders to pour them for you. The space is overall industrial-feeling with tall ceilings and minimalist decor and mostly bare walls inside, but there's also an outside patio area with picnic tables in the parking lot, though that's best in the summer. We got the General Tso Cauliflower to start which was a great share plate, with awesome flavor in the sauce, though the actual cauliflower was a bit undercooked. Still, we polished it off no problem. Fish tacos were also a good call, and the thin, crispy fries were a crowd favorite. There are so many good sours, IPAs and other craft beer options here, my buddy just opted for the 4-brew flight (mostly IPAs) which we all sampled and loved, though it's kinda pricy for what's basically 20 ounces of beer. The one-off vintage 14% special beers are where it's at, but at that ABV level, we just decided to share one barrel aged Imperial Stout. So friggin caramelly and delish - the perfect dessert. The space was pretty quiet for a Saturday night but our service was absolutely next level, so it made for a super pleasant gathering for our small group. The food at this Crux location is probably best described as better-than-average pub fare, but not mouth-watering, and the ambiance is low key but also nothing super special. The beer and the staff though, are awesome, so I will be back for more.

Well sadly, a couple who don't like police went in and complained about the canvasser. My husband and I had just finished giving him our signatures and out walks the couple who complained about him. As they walked out he asked them one more time if they would like to sign. They said no and actually called him an idiot. I couldn't believe that. Then someone who works at John's walked out and told the canvasser that he needed to leave. The canvasser calmly asked him why and the worker just got angry and threatening toward the canvasser. The entire time the canvasser stayed super calm and polite. The worker told him he was going to call the police, so the canvasser said he was going to walk over and away from their door (we watched him move away from John's). The worker called the police anyway. We asked the canvasser if he wanted us to stick around and he said no and that he's not worried about the police being called, because he knew the police would help defuse the situation. I would bet real money that if the canvasser were collecting signatures for something that couple liked, there would be zero complaints... John's Marketplace has now lost a couple local customers and we will be sharing this with our friends (we were all customers, but not anymore). I would have totally backed them asking the canvasser to leave if he was being rude, but we personally witnessed that he was being completely professional and pleasant. Had the worker not been such a jerk to the canvasser I probably wouldn't even have thought to write this review, but he was a complete jerk when he had to option to be calm and explain his position (the canvasser was extremely calm and didn't need some guy treating him so poorly).

Garrett was super helpful and we talked a bit about what I was thinking, and found three options within my budget. We settled on a fun but not too crazy wine from the Canary Islands. He held the wine for me at the front and I was able to just grab and go later in the afternoon. The price was also just right, as it was listed for $18 more on the vino app. Came back in a week later for drinks and prices were also great with a 3 drink flight for $19 all with good pours. Had a chenin blanc, a chardonnay, and a Malbec. All were phenomenal and bar staff were friendly. This is definitely earned a spot in the rotation. Love it.

Not bad, just not as balanced as it could be. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It's put together in a way that makes you forget you're even in the city -- relaxed, comfortable, and easy to settle into. Service was easily a 10/10. Attentive without being overbearing, respectful, and genuinely friendly -- the kind of staff that makes the experience better without trying too hard. Overall, a really solid spot. Also I will say this: Pip's offers a free birthday dozen, which is incredibly generous gift. My birthday falls around the holidays so I usually can't make it in, but I want to be clear that I have absolutely zero complaints about that. Adults, especially, should never grumble about not receiving a generous freebie. The fact that they offer it at all speaks volumes about the kind of business they are!

Upon seating, they made a whoopsie by giving me a heated chai, but I can overlook that since they gave us an extra donut :) We got brownie butter, cinnamon sugar, and raw honey + salt to share. I got the King and I (made dirty) for my own because I love pandan. They put a lot of care into their product and it definitely shows. Chai was spectacular and donuts were delicious. I'm returning!

If you're a minority avoid this place like the plague. The menu uses Italian and the staff clearly doesn't like taking money from a person of color. Both ladies behind the counter were sniffling and snottbig, no mask. The sandwich prepped sneezed into her gloves and continued making sandwiches.
