The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a family friendly atmosphere with great treats, food, and beverages (the adult ones are delicious) this is your place to go! The atmosphere is amazing! Immediately when we got there we were greeted with some pleasant up beat but relaxing music that played throughout the grounds. I also had the sumptuous chocolate chip cookies that were ever so slightly crunchy on the edges with a gooey soft center! These are on my top 5 of best cookies I've had outside of the ones my wife makes. We also treated ourselves to some adult beverages too which were very fair priced and served to our table with a smile from the owner, Nina! She had made up a batch of fresh peach Bellinis that she had literally made from scratch right on the spot using local peaches - the girls said they were perfectly balanced with being very tasty with just a hint of sweetness so you could have a few and not feel like you were overwhelmed with a sugary taste. The local Hefeweizen was also wonderful! Nina's dad served it up to me and was really nice and down to earth giving us a little family history of how Nina and Drew recently turned this place around, a true Cinderella story at its best! Overall, this is the place you want to be if you're looking for some relaxing fun time with really nice family people who are just pursuing the American dream and bringing us along for the ride. Not much in terms of their ranch. It's a really tiny place, but super mellow considering the busier farms nearby. Where Bodhaine really shines is with their pies. Remember this phrase: Blackberry-Apple sour cream pie. Daaaamnit!!! It is ADDICTIVE! Some of the best pie that I've ever tasted and a gem within Apple Hill. This was my last stop along my recent trip out to Apple Hill. Although it wasn't as eventful as the other two orchards that I visited, the pie was hands down the best! I dropped by about an hour before closing and this place was pretty dead. I'm sure COVID had a lot to do with that, but it was actually nice to not be around a ton of people. Bodhaine serves up some really unique pies. Since I had been feasting all day, I decided to take a few slices home. Got a slice of their blackerry-apple sour cream and a slice of their raspberry apple cream cheese pie. Of course, I had to wash it all down with some delicious cold apple cider. Both pies were tasty, but that blackberry-apple sour cream pie just stole my heart away. It didn't sound all that appealing from the title, but let me tell you... that sh*t was incredible! The tartness of the blackberry mixed with the sweetness of the apples and the creaminess of the sour cream was just straight up heavenly. I actually went back in to grab another slice because I didn't even make it to the car. The lady was laughing at me, but it was funny. The fact that the pie didn't even last a few minutes let's you know that it was good. It was at that point that I should have just purchased a frozen whole pie, but my tummy was honestly full and I wasn't thinking. I did end up getting another slice though, and that one actually did make it home. And damn was it delicious! I did not not spend a lot of time at Bodhaine Ranch during my visit to Apple Hill. One of the downsides to starting east and going west was that Bodhaine Ranch was not yet officially opened by the time we arrived - oops! That said, the staff there were courteous and offered to serve us the baked goods and pastries that were already available and a place to sit inside while we ate. I asked the cashier what her favorite of the few of the baked goods were, asking about each by what I thought was the item's description tag in front of each baked good. After hearing her opinion, we went with Oma's Apple Cake (pictured). I was a bit surprised because I was totally looking at another baked good and thought that was Oma's Cake, but in the words of Bob Ross, it was a happy accident. Oma's Cake was AWESOME. The cake slice was affordable and the cake itself was moist and filled with apples. Great on its own. What I'm still raving about today, though, was the cream cheese frosting that was on top. I don't think I've had a better cream cheese frosting. I'd eat it with a spoon. It mostly sweet, with a bit of tartness, and was served cool, and was just the a total epitome of what I'd consider a decadent dessert. Seriously, I need Oma's recipe. She's a great friend for many reasons but wow she opened up my world with this unique pie. I just baked it. It's magnificent! The best way I can describe Harvest Delight is by calling it a giant pumpkin soufflé pie. If you like soufflé, you'll love this. A little creamy, moistly warm pumpkin with a terrific domed Christmasy topping. Not too sweet. Subtle spices. Top tier. This is the kind of pie that's enjoyed best at home baked fresh in your own oven. Most pies need to rest after being baked. Harvest Delight is best served pretty much immediately after pulling out of oven. Be gentle as you place on countertop. When you pull this baby out of the oven it has a beautiful golden brown domed top. It looks whimsically delicious. This is the most instagrammable and cute spot in apple hill. It was my first visit and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's very well decorated inside and outside, and outside has a really nice fire pit and seating areas. I am not a pie person at all, but the blackberry apple pie slice was absolutely delicious and after ordering I went and ordered two more slices. The chicken pot pie was also delicious and I highly recommend getting both. We met the new owner and he was very friendly and checked in on our experience. I believe they are building an outdoor bar and they're looking to upgrade the restroom situation, which is currently a portable, but it was very clean and maintained and had an outdoor sink. I've been coming to Bodhaine for 5+ years for my annual pie pick up. The ranch is under new ownership and they have really spruced up the place. They took over in December 2020. I forgot to ask about hours and they are not posted any where. Someone else mentioned that the website is not up to date. My husband and I tried to come here before thanksgiving and they were closed. We were in the area today and decided to come by ... not knowing owners had changed. The decor has improved and I love the added little details from outdoor lights, fire pit, outdoor seating, additions to the menu and they even have their own swag merchandise (forgot to take a picture, sorry). We ordered a Harvest Delight pie to take home. We also ordered a shortbread cookie and a slice of Apple Cake. My husband didn't love his cookie and said it was too dry and not buttery. He rates it 3/5. I devoured the apple cake...wow it was delicious. It was very moist and I loved the raisins. It was so good we got two more pieces to go. It tears my heart having to give them 2 stars. For years, we have been faithful customers and enjoyed their pies and other baked goods. Last time we decided to have lunch there as well, and since the only thing available on the menu, we all ordered tamales. Now, if I go and ask you what food you have, and you say tamales, and I look at the price and see an exorbitant tag of $10 per tamal, I'm going to expect that tamale to be the best godgiven tamale north of the border. Bodhaine has one of the nicest picnic and lounging areas in Apple Hill. Great ambiance with an outdoor bar make this a fun spot for two, a group, or families. We spent about 30 minutes here, chowing down on snickerdoodles and blackberry apple sour cream pie (ate those too fast to get a good photo), then sipped on an apple cider mimosa while playing cornhole. Visited Bodhaine Ranch on a quiet Wednesday morning. My husband did some research before we made our way up to Apple hill and he was interested in the chicken empanada and pot pie that could be found here . When we got there we were greeted by the friendly owners. We were ready for lunch. Ordered the empanadas and pot pie. The pot pies still had about 15 minutes in the oven. They are made fresh daily! We waited , looked around and chatted with the owners till the pie was done. The empanadas came out with deliciously metly cheese on top. And the pot pie was piping hot right out of the oven. Both were excellent and the Apple salad on the side was good too. My husband got a cup of apple cider and that was delicious. We did leave with 3 frozen pies: blackberry & apple sour cream pie, harvest pie , and the regular apple pie with crumb on top. My new favorite place to get pie! So far out of the ones I've tried, my favorites are the Harvest Delight and Caramel Apple Bar. I pretty much just loved everything that had cream cheese in it and I'm not even a huge fan of cream cheese haha. The French Apple and Blackberry Apple Sour Cream was ok (mostly because I prefer creamier rather than fruitier pies), but my BF was a huge fan of them! Both times that I went (during a September weekend) were not busy at all. I thought it would be worse. We had went right when they opened and during lunchtime as well, and both of the times had a few groups of people, but we were lucky enough not to have to wait in line. The ranch is a little off the beaten path which I prefer since you don't have to hear the hustle and bustle of the main road like with Boa Vista. It's quiet and there plenty of cute picnic seating areas next to apple trees. Super picturesque! Overall, I would make the hour trip from Davis just to get these pies. Lady they was helping me said these are the most popular: Raspberry-apple cream cheese pie; Blackberry apple sour cream pie; and Harvest Delight. Raspberry-apple cream cheese pie - she said was sweeter than the Blackberry one, so I picked Blackberry Apple Sour Cream Pie - around $4/slice. I really liked it. Served cold that was ok, I didn't ask to have it heated up - wonder if they do that. Harvest Delight - I heard it's pumpkin pie with cream cheese. Sounds good. I wanted to buy a frozen pie - didn't this time. She said you can buy a special pouch to keep it good for 4hrs. I guess I should bring my own cooler or cooler bag. Super rude love being yelled at to move my car by the owner when all we were doing was taking a picture by their little sign...I used to come here all the time over the years but will not be returning and will be sure to let everyone know how unwelcoming this place has become. Not to mention where have all the pie selections gone. I'm not clear as to why this owner has the inability to speak to his paying customers with a friendly disposition. Bodhaine Ranch is part of the apple hill experience and I was not disappointed in their selection of baked goodies here. Their chicken pot pie and empanadas were delicious and flavorful. The chicken pot pie wasn't too hot to eat, which was a relief and their filling is not too butter based. The filling was semi cold when I first took a bite, but after mixing a bit, the filling got warm. I think they toast or reheat the chicken pot pie, but the overall dish was still pretty good. I was just happy I didn't burn my tongue on the first bite. The crust on the chicken pot pie was really well done as well. For $10, I though the chicken pot pie was worth. The empanada was also great, but unfortunately, the inside of that was a bit too hot. We happened to fumble upon Bodhaine Ranch while looking for apple picking farms to take our kids today. Oh good Lord... I am so thankful we did. All their food was amazing! From the kids hamburgers to the hard apple cider. Let me tell you about their chicken salad though!!! The chicken salad was thee BEST salad I've EVER had! They were closed during the busiest time of the year and there were no notices of hours anywhere including the old website, Google maps and of course even on Yelp. Bodhaine Ranch is ground zero for homemade pies in Apple Hill. Everybody sells pies, but the folks here specialize in them. The ranch is on the eastern side of Apple Hill, past downtown Camino along Cable Road. You may have to drive out of your way, but you will be rewarded. Parking can be an issue during peak seasons, but the turnover is usually quick. Do not expect a traditional Apple Hill experience here. There are no massive bins of fresh apples or miles of arts & crafts, although Bodhaine has some. This is mainly a bakery and restaurant serving meats, sandwiches, and baked goods mostly for meals. However, they excel at their pies. You can get any number of combinations by the slice, whole baked, or whole frozen to cook at home. My favorite is the Apple Pecan Pie combining the best of both into a flaky crust. Follow the instructions carefully, and it will turn out perfect. Another tip, stop here first and stock up on some frozen pies. Put them in your ice chest so they thaw during your trip. This will keep everything else cool and defrost them to bake at home later that night. Fresh baked pie for breakfast the next day is awesome. Bodhaine Ranch has a well earned reputation for pies and has been a part of our Apple Hill memories for a long time. read more

The old Bodhaine was awesome! Now.... no. We've been going here for YEARS to buy pies because they were always amazing, but apparently it's been sold in the last year to year and a half. So, we bought one of the harvest pies that we were told was the same with a few changes... "margarine to butter" and "powdered vanilla to vanilla" - doesn't sound like bad changes right? We didn't think so either, so we got the harvest pie which had a good presentation and took it home to heat up/eat. We took our bites and were highly disappointed, even though the presentation was good, the flavor was bland (not something you'd expect if you'd been here before and definitely not something you'd expect for $35/pie). This is not the award winning pies they were with the last owner. Now, I'll give them credit for revamping; there was definitely a lot that went into it but it does now have a "hipster" vibe. I get it, it seems to be the in thing right now but it's lacking the homely feel it used to have (and the taste/quality that used to be there). The food was just ok - tri tip was plain and not very full, Pot pie (kfc is better) salad is cut apples with celery in mayonnaise. the worse was the 2 corn dogs inside were still cold. Likely purchased frozen corn dogs! We told them and they gave us a new one, the 2nd one they just refried our bitten off corn dog and gave it back to us- In the fryer where they will fry others' foods. We brought a group and hung out by their fire pit. So relaxing and the kids loved running around. They are a family owned/run business who pride themselves on God and Country. Their food brings a new and delicious twist to apple hill. Their treats are so delicious. They kept some of the oldies but goodies, but added a whole new exciting dessert menu. They feature the delicious cookies and treats from Kane's Cookie Jar, which is a delicious cookie company tied to the family. We stopped by for the first time in November 2021 and will definitely be back! It's a great spot for a picnic with lots of picnic tables, a cute fire pit with Adirondack chairs (and mini Adirondacks for the kids), and lots of grass you could put a blanket down on for a picnic, too.
