Stopped in here with a group for some late lunch on a weekend, and had an enjoyable meal. It's a nice cozy space, with a bunch of good food options, ranging from pizza, to shishkabob, to brunch plates. They serve you some fresh bread from their pizza oven with seasoned olive oil, which is a nice touch these days as most places have cheaped out on these kinds of things. The staff was friendly, though a bit grumpy, may have just been the time and day, or something we did as a group, so I'll just leave it at that. As for the food, everyone really enjoyed what they had. I ordered the chicken sis kebab (as it's called on the menu) and it was seasoned well, the rice was good, though the chicken was a bit dry. My only real complaint about the food. It needs some kind of sauce to accompany it. Tried some of other's dishes and they all tasted great, including the desserts. Baklava was great, the Firinda Sutlac (baked pudding) was also really tasty. Overall, solid experience. Glad we stopped in. Hopefully I'll be back one day when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Longstanding restaurant doling out a variety of interesting options - primarily focusing on pizza, Mediterranean, and Turkish cuisine. Tuesday night and no reservation necessary for a table of two. Fairly cramped spot as the tables are placed very close to each other (not a place for private conversation). As soon as you sit, they had out free olive oil/olives as well as two pieces of oven-baked bread. The bread is fantastic, crisp outside and fluffy inside - definitely one of the best free appetizers I've had. This went well with the glass of Pinot Noir ($11) - a smooth red from Chile that was hard not to finish before the food arrived. For my main course, had the stuffed Cabbage ($18) - ground lamb and spices wrapped with cabbage and smothered in yogurt/tomato sauces. Meat could be more tender and the flavor is lacking until you get to the yogurt sauce which really makes everything better. Service comes around frequently and the food arrived within 12 minutes of ordering. Lots of options to try here so would consider coming back for something different. read more

Came here on a couple of occasions and the experience has been great each time. From the fresh bread straight from the brick oven, to the appetizers, main course, and dessert. Plan to leave here a couple pounds heavier because it's that good! Some recommendations: To start - the red lentil is the best I've had, love the sampler plate (because I'm indecisive) and the Manti is incredible. Main course - the lamb chops and lamb shank are my favs. The meat literally melts off the bone of the lamb shank. Dessert - of course the baklava was good, but what I left dreaming about is the pistachio gelato. Again, best pistachio gelato to date. I enjoyed this restaurant. Servers were friendly and helpful. It had a nice atmosphere. We went early at 5:00 pm without a reservation. They did tell us we would need to be done by 6:45 because there was a reservation coming, which was reasonable. I had chicken kebab and it was tasty. My son had the lamb chops. Both of us enjoyed our meals but they were fairly modest portions. Interestingly, one of the most yummy things was the focaccia bread basket. We didn't have pizza, but it looked pretty good too. Very down to earth neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant. We came on a Friday night, the restaurant is rather full but not crowded. The Mediterranean sample was really good. You got to try all the popular appetizers in one dish I ordered the Moussaka as a main dish, which is ground lamb with eggplant, cheese on top. It was sooo good. I'm really bummed this place wasn't as good as I had hoped. My Moussaka was terribly bland and honestly not one of the better ones I've had. I took two bites and that was it. My husband ordered the Pirzola cooked well done. His order came out rare. Because we at the same time took a bite out of each lamb "lollipop" before realizing it was way undercooked, the waiters solution was to just throw the one remaining one on the grill. For a dish that is $30 with a 2/3 of the dish going uneaten, that's not exactly a fair solution. My husband is extremely shy to complain but had I not had such an exhausting day at work I'd have spoken up. Skip this place and go to Aba on 57th. read more

Friend's Fish tagine was done well, but nothing special and not quite enough of a portion. Another had a nicely turned-out pizza, I'll admit (I'm sick of pizza, everybody's default in NYC. We couldn't make up our mind for appetizers so we decided to get the appetizer sampler, which was absolutely amazing. I was addicted to the Labne. We also ordered crispy calamari which was good. The 2 entrees we ordered were the stuffed cabbage & the adana kebab. Both were good. A bit of advice though on the Adana kebab - if you don't like Turkish spices, do not order this dish! I highly recommend the mezze platter, which will actually fill two people. And while it sounds basic the brunch poached eggs with the salad and sautéed spinach is a complete win. Bodrum was a bit underwhelming for a place with rather good ratings. I had a friday night dinner with my girlfriend and although it got off to a good start, it did not excite or make me want to go back anytime soon. The meal started with some cocktails including the whiskey sour which was decent and a martini which my girlfriend really enjoyed. For the appetizer we got the dip sampler. Everything was decent enough except the Baba ghanouj which was very smokey. It felt like eating an ash tray and I could not stomach more than one bite. Then when the meals came, my moussaka was basically 95% eggplant and 5% meat. The chicken dish my girlfriend got was equally unexciting. The bill was also a bit steep for the amount of food we had. Sad to say we wont be back for a bit, but hoping next time will be better. There are so many great restaurants in the upper west side that it felt like a wasted meal. read more

I've read a lot of Bodrum's reviews and majority are excellent, so, we decided to try it. It didn't seem very busy and we were seated fairly quickly. It was still happy hour so ordered a couple beers. We knew what we want so also ordered our main course. The waitress said the roasted chicken takes at least 30 minutes but was worth the wait so ordered that. Twenty minutes or so later she offered us bread...which should have been out sooner so I was a little surprised. The roasted chicken, that takes 30 minutes, came out first. But then our remaining orders didn't. For a while.... I timed it, 10 minutes to get our other two dishes. Ridiculous! Why wouldn't they bring them all out at once. I was with my wife and daughter, we expect to eat our meals at the same time. To me this is unacceptable especially from an establishment with such great yelp reviews. read more

So I would say I have warmed towards Bodrum over the years. Do I still think their portions are small? Absolutely. But their homey shakshuka, warm bread, and on occasion, their pizzas, have become a go to for take out when we crave Mediterranean. And that really is what food is all about - bringing the family together. I remember fondly when we got food for our son's bris, and also recently, seeing my son warm up to their shakshuka. First time to this restaurant. Calamari was brought in less than luke-warm. The accompanying sauce while with good flavor was equally tepid. Even though it was served cool, one could tell that the texture of calamari was good. Our seconds on the sauce however was piping hot. My main dish was also not served hot ~ as if it had been sitting around for awhile before being served. While the food was good, considering, I will doubt I will be returning to Bodrum. I've been wanting to review Bodrum for ages, but felt it wouldn't be genuine. Though I've ordered from this wonderful establishment many times on Seamless (and have been more than satisfied every time), I had never dined here prior to Wednesday night. Today, I'm happy to report that Bodrum is just as good--if not better--in person. I mean, how often do you find a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant that also serves bangin' pizza? I'll tell you: not often. Not often at all. This place is unique in all the right ways. As mentioned, we came here on a Wednesday night. We got here around 8 without a reservation and were luckily able to snag the lone free table outside. Though I can't speak to the drinks here, I can speak to quite a lot of the food given my Seamless history. As is the case with just about anywhere though, the fresher the food, the better. And of course, some items don't travel well, so Seamless orders don't typically give someone the entire breadth of the menu. Before get to my laundry list of orders here, a few quick notes about the dining experience. Service: Top-notch. It started off pretty shaky--it didn't seem like there was an actual host there which meant one/both of us had to semi-pace around looking to catch someone's eye in the hopes of being seated--but the issues stopped there. Others have mentioned the bread, and rightly so. Almost as soon as you sit down, everyone in your party will be given not one but TWO pieces of Bodrum's magical bread. It's great delivered, even better fresh. Told ya. And while they don't give you a bread basket, about halfway through our meal we were offered a second two pieces of bread, which we graciously accepted. In addition to the olive oil on the table, a few of our dishes featured some seriously flavorful sauce. Prime dipping material. Bring on the extra bread. On this particular night, we just decided to share a couple of appetizers and forgo pizza altogether. If I hadn't had Bodrum pizza before, that wouldn't have sat well with me but for one night, I can compromise. We got: Karides Guvec (Shrimp casserole with tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms & kasari cheese): B+ Like a poor man's shrimp scampi. There wasn't anything particularly notable about this dish. The shrimp were fresh, the flavors were bright, and the broth was steaming hot. I repeat: prime dipping material. I wasn't wowed by this dish (when I feel like I can make something I eat out at home, it's probably not that exceptional), but it was still solid. Manti (Turkish tender steamed dumplings filled with ground lamb & fresh herbs in a garlic yogurt sauce): A-/A My only qualm with this dish was how heavy the sauce was (still tasty as far as flavor goes, though). Otherwise, absolute heaven. We asked our waiter how many dumplings came in the small serving, to which he replied, "about 25 or 30". This sounded strangely gratuitous until we found that each dumpling was about the size of a nickel, maybe even a bit smaller. Basically, swaddled baby lamb nugget. Mucver (Zucchini patties with crumbled French feta, fresh dill & scallions, topped with garlic yogurt sauce): A Great delivered, unreal right out of the kitchen. Am I sounding redundant yet? Crispy, rich, savory, cheesy, herbed to perfection, served with fluffy yogurt sauce. I could eat these everyday. There are three per serving so do yourself a savor and get a double order. Now that we've gotten that over with, I'll mention the various items I've ordered (most of the multiple times) from Seamless. Chicken Sis Kebab: A-/A It's a Turkish Chicken Sis Kebab. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, as it should be. Otherwise, it's what you'd expect. Not a bad thing though! Babaghanoush: A+ Hummus: A Lumping these into one item since they're both spreads. I haven't ordered from Bodrum in a while so it's hard to articulate why I'm giving the former a slight bump up. I just know I pretty much always order the Babaghanoush and I pretty much always inhale it. Bodrum does spreads WELL. Do not pass these up. I don't care if you're bread-averse, just eat the damn spreads with a spoon. Spicy Sausage Pizza (tomato sauce, spicy Italian sausage, broccoli rabe & roasted garlic): A+ A Turkish restaurant known for its pizza?? Is this real life? Only in New York, I tell ya. When I first saw that Bodrum was categorized as a pizza place on Yelp, I scoffed at the prospect. But somehow, some way, they manage to pull it off. This pizza is the winner here, in my opinion. The sausage is delicious and pairs perfectly with the broccoli rabe, as the two typically do. Thin, crispy crust. Oh baby. Meatball Pizza (tomato sauce, lamb meatballs & fresh mozzarella cheese): A- Nothing too special here. The meatballs are lamb as opposed to beef, which adds some extra, flavor. I don't typically go for lamb but it's actually quite enjoyable in this case. Interesting twist on a classic! read more

The just-baked bread, light and fluffy with areas of thin crispiness, served continuously alongside was excellent. The outdoor seating is pleasant - if you care for sidewalk dining. The value is good. So I came here for my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend , and I couldn't be more pleased with the attentiveness of the hostess. Relatively busy durning the day but totally understand due to the delicious food! It didn't take long to be seated. My boyfriend ordered the chicken kebab dish and was cooked/prepared in a good timely manner. The addition of bread being refilled at our table was a plus. We went back to Bodrum 2 weeks ago for brunch and it was a real let down. My girl got the Turkish scrambled eggs with feta, dill, tomatoes, scallions, and grilled pita, and I got the Yesil Salad which has lettuce, black olives, dill, scallions, cucumbers and feta with a lemon vinaigrette. The most disappointing part was the eggs. About 3 bites in my girl got a crunch; yep...a big piece of egg shell. She searched around a bit and found a few more pieces as well. Rather revolting. Additionally, we thought the vegetables listed with the eggs would be mixed in, but it was all placed on top like a small salad. The raw scallions and were a bit overpowering in my opinion and would have probably benefited from being cooked a bit with the egg mixture. As for my salad, it was a real yawner. The lettuce was limp and old, the vinagrette was weak and they put just a few crumbs of feta on top. It just wasn't interesting to eat. Bodrum has that awesome brick oven inside, so their baked stuff is usually great. But in the few times we've gone, everything else has been really hit and miss, including the service. This spot is always awesome. The people who work here are super nice and professional. The food is amazing. Great flavors and good portions. Even their bread on the side is delicious. The menu has a lot of great lamb items, which is great for us carnivores. Wine list is small but has something for everyone. Be sure to get a reservation - though don't be afraid to walk in and see if you can get in. I've been lucky to be seated as a walk-in during busy dinner hours about 50% of the time. read more

I'm sad to say I have to update my review of Bodrum. After exploring some other Turkish restaurants in the city I've learned that Bodrum is veryyyyy skimpy when it comes to portion size. I've come back here twice since my last review and practically walked out hungry each time. First I had the chicken kebab and then the adana kebab. They don't even give you rice with the adana, which is probably the cheapest filler food you could offer. If you want Turkish check out Turkish Cuisine in Hells Kitchen. Had a meze platter for my main dish and was disappointed by how small it was. I'm used to a $17 meze platter being enough for a meal and leftovers for later, this one was a light dinner. I ordered a hummus plate and by all accounts of eating hummus in numerous other locations every platter comes with a sufficient amount of bread for you to enjoy your hummus with. That was not the case in Bodrum, where the server only gave me two pieces of bread for a whole plate of hummus but also did not have the decency to fill back up my plate of bread after I was finished. Now, Turkish food isnt exactly a cuisine I get up and say "geez. I'm so craving that today". Usually, it ends up being a craving for ice cream, cookies, pizza, pad thai ... I do forsee that changing, now that I've tried Bodrum. Its a small place, but the food and staff are outstanding. The bread is awesome - super fresh, warm and yummy. Good bread is definitely underestimated! I feel that it really sets the tone for the rest of the meal. As my luck usually is, I fell in love with a dish that happens to be a special. Usually I experience this with a special shade of lipstick or perfume, but this time it was the Yogurtlu Kebab. Fresh crunchy bread croutons topped with yogurt sauce and a touch of red sauce and delicious tender lamb on top. I couldnt ask for better. I was engulfed by the dish to the point that I ignored all conversation my boyfriend was trying to make. I was a good little girl and cleaned the plate, which was funny since we went to dinner and I wasnt even hungry! I had asked the waitress about the dish and she luckily said that they have it often as a special - score. My boyfriend had the Lamb Tagine which was awesome as well. Sadly, we did not stay for dessert, but I definitely want to give that a go because the desserts at the table next to us looked super scrumptous. Consistently great food at Bodrum. Number 1 point to mention is that the bread served at the beginning of the meal is my favorite complimentary bread of any restaurant ever. It's delicious, soft, chewy (crunchy on the outside) and always warmed right out of the oven. Truly addictive. I always end up eating more than I planned on... The sampling appetizer plate is a must - 4 or 5 different types of spreads (hummus, babaghanoush, etc) as well as a few meat-filled pastries. Absolutely excellent. I order this every time. For mains, I have generally preferred their wonderful pizzas to their other entree options (stuffed cabbage and kebabs for instance are good but not outstanding). The pizzas, however, are thin crust and perfectly crunchy. Many, many options of toppings to choose from so you will never get bored. Nice atmosphere, good waitstaff.
