First of all, Rob is so much fun, an excellent waiter, and very willing to go the extra mile for you. When Rob spoke to Dreni, he was kind enough to make a special accommodation for my and his serious diet restriction (since it's difficult to split a meal with him.) we appreciated this so much, especially in a busy restaurant. Not only were these men awesome, but they food was amazing!!!! And the ambience is beautiful and fun. We sat at the bar for dinner before a Broadway show, and the bartender was attentive, putting in our food order quickly and giving us water though he did rush us to leave before we finished our drinks. I got eggplant rollatini, an appetizer but a hearty dish. My mother got the rigatoni with mozzarella and eggplant and my other friend got the seafood pasta. Overall, pretty standard fare Italian American food for an average price point in the neighborhood. The calamari in the seafood was slightly overcooked but it was plentiful with clams, mussels, and shrimp as well. We had a wonderful experience at Tony's. The restaurant was packed and lively. Our waiter AG greeted us promptly and let us know the specials and his favorites. To start, I ordered a lemon drop martini. It was yummy! I also tried my friend's espresso martini and it was great as well. We started with a Cesar salad that was prepared table side. We shared the caeser salad, veal saltimbocca, and the linguini with white clam sauce. Everything was delicious. We didn't expect the caeser salad to be made tableside. I enjoyed the croutons and cheese in the salad. The veal saltimbocca were 4 veal cutlet pieces with prosciutto and cheese over it. Veal was tender and each bite was flavorful. It came with sauteed spinach which allowed me to justify the meal as healthy. The linguini with white clam sauce had a lot of clam meat. It had 4 clams in a shell with large and small clam meat pieces throughout the dish. The white sauce was not too oily and had a good amount of garlic. This is a family style restaurant where you should probably bring 4 to 8 people to share the different dishes, but anybody who has a table of two is gonna be taken home a ton of leftovers or doing as our neighbors dead saying oh my gosh, look at all this food. You must have some broccoli do not order it and then when we got our potatoes, it was the serving for eight or 10 people and we're like oh my gosh you have to have some potatoes we've made instant friends. We came for the chicken marsala because we had heard that it was so good and that's what we wanted. We were gonna go to Carmine's but this was recommended. Oh I am so happy we did because I absolutely love mushrooms. Their marsala is perfectly flavored and stuffed with mushrooms. The prices are good here the wine not so good. The noise levels a little high waiters are fantastic and even though it's a tourist place, this is one of those places I will do a basically premixed, but they will toss the Caesar salad in front of you and serve you irritable. It's a really fun place. I absolutely recommend this place. It will come every time I come to town to visit! There is a photographer that comes around and takes your pictures just like in the olden days or like they do in Italy in Mexico and you do get a free postcard sized photo with the advertised restaurant on there or you can purchase a $25 glass framed cute photo. Our waitress really stood out--she was open to questions and took the time to explain the dishes in detail, which was a huge improvement and very much appreciated. As for the food, the huge, plentiful family-style portions remain a highlight and continue to be one of the main reasons to come here. Plenty to share and full of flavor. The ambiance also felt improved, likely because the restaurant wasn't as busy as our first visit--probably due to the nasty snowstorm outside. Reservations are recommended. The staff are great though, we showed up 30mins early for our reservation and we seated quickly. Our server, Robert, was friendly, helpful, and funny. Food is family style and each dish is large and designed to be shared so you get your variety that way. The rigatoni ala vodka was surprisingly light somehow, creamy but not heavy in your stomach.
