Chapeau
emily g.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Don't hesitate about going here! Everything was great! Some of the better croissants I've had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, perfectly buttery, wonderful flavor from all the flavors I tried! I loved their cakes too, the bette noir (flourless chocolate cake) and an almond cake with raspberry filling. Their chapeaus are croissant dough cut up and put together, sorta like a lil monkey bread with a jammy flavor throughout. The service was lovely too. I went in a few times and every time was wonderful! The ladies working behind the counter are sweet and always helpful with answers!

This is a busy place and pastries sold out quickly. I would own a shop like this but not a place to hang for a while. The window seats are nice though to people watch. The price is reasonable actually for the town and locals running into local is very common. I tried my croissant and it's not very crispy as I wanted. I would want it freakier. Coffee is very good though. If you want an afternoon pick me up, definitely go for one. Ambiance isn't my vibe but for a quick stop yes. It's a good place for parents with their ikea like decorating. Chairs and table are basic. Service is very friendly.

I am not local to Montpelier (or even the East Coast) but this bakery makes me wish I was. I am not exaggerating when I say that their thyme and gruyere danish changed my life. I also had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, learning more about what makes their danishes special, and taking a peek into their kitchen; I was impressed by the baking operation as much as the owner's story. The quality of the coffee was also noteworthy. I can't remember who they source their beans from but it was delicious either way. Such a cute space in such a beautiful town! I hope I get a chance to go back :)

Perched overlooking Montpelier's iconic State and Main intersection, Bohemian has one of the best locations in town. Popping in for lunch, however, I was disappointed to find very meager savory offerings. That said, their egg salad on focaccia was incredibly tasty and hit the spot. The maple latte was decent. Not the best I've had, but they nailed the requisite toasted marshmallow taste that I love about this singular Vermont cafe specialty. The decor seems a bit sterile. The aesthetic feels Scandinavian inspired with understated tones and minimal accoutrements, and could use some warming elements to make it feel less like a canteen and more like a cozy nest.

Servers, line.

Good selection of breakfast food, unlimited coffee refills, good chai. Good service, nice atmosphere. Hard for servers to hear us, only drawback.

Bakery was great, everything we ate was tip top. They were closing, didn't realize that, so our coffee was a bit rushed. Will have to come back as our coffee wasn't anything special.

Great bakery items and sandwiches but they close at 1. Coffee & teas are also served. Cute corner location too.

This is not the best coffee shop in town, staff/owner seems rude and preoccupied. Birchgrove is way better.

If you can stomach mediocre coffee and the incredibly rude staff, the pastries are good.

Bohemian's almond croissant lives in my mind rent-free, creeping into my brain every time I order a pastry.

More akin to a breakfast panini, the gooey fluffy egg and cheese, crunchy bacon, and bright onions were perfectly supported by two slices of crunchy, crusty toasted sourdough. Such great flavor! The iced maple latte was a bit on the sweet side but still very much enjoyed it. TBD on the scone, but judging by how busy it was, it is gonna be great! Service: Friendly group passionate about what they do! Ambiance: Small town, comfortable bakery where I assume all the netizens gather.

I…read morehadn't been to the cafe in several years, but found myself close today so I stopped in for a to-go sandwich. It's always been busy when I've gone, but wait times aren't very long and the staff is pleasant. Needless to say, I got home and inhaled my turkey on a baguette. The only thing I think is a little bit of a bummer is the lack of more "traditional" topping options. I like my sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The cafe does not offer tomatoes and only has pickled onions. Would be nice to have a little more choice when building your own sandwich. That said, I'm still a big fan and would get food from there again in a heartbeat.

By the time I left this place around lunchtime I felt like I was part of the family. My three hour visit included a blueberry corn muffin, red pepper chicken risotto soup served with a fresh croissant, and coffee. All for $9. (note: cash only). The soup and croissant knocked my socks off. I had visions of Oliver Twist slurping up stew and saying, "please sir, I want some more sir." Mmm....just thinking about it now warms my stomach. Note: this place is no frills. Waterbury offers free community wifi but it can be spotty in this location. The charm of this place is definitely the outdoor patio and fact that you have to stroll through an alley to find it. Double note: they sell breads, gingersnap cookies, croissants and a few other baked treats. The owner told me that he has been operating via wholesale for years but just recently opted to open up for a mini café section. Hallelujah.
