Plain bagel toasted with chive cream cheese
    Will W.

I've been going to boichik since they only had one small location. It's expanded significantly since then. Great bagels, especially when they're freshly made. My go to is a basic plain bagel, toasted, with chive cream cheese. The staff are friendly and pretty quick at making your order even on a busy weekend. I keep trying other bagel spots in the east bay but I haven't found one with anywhere near the same quality of bagels. It would be awesome if they had more sandwich options.

RIP egg and eggything bagels....its a sad time as those are our go-to's. We came on a Friday morning after seeing the announcement that those will be discontinue. It's what sets boichik apart from all the other bagel shops in the area. It's the reason we keep coming back. But goodbye egg based bagels...and perhaps goodbye boichik. This morning we came at 8am and the egg bagels are already sold out! I'm sure people were buying more to freeze since they'll no longer be available but it should show you just how popular that is with customers, especially those with kids. We couldn't even get one final one for our toddler, which is kind of a bummer. The adults got the eggything and the little one ended up with a plain (but with the wonderful fresh strawberry cream cheese on the side!). Unfortunately with their best offering going away, I think we will be more inclined to explore the other options in the area :(

I honestly have to come here every time my family does their annual trip to the Northface Outlet. It is just a block over. There is street parking available. There is limited outdoor and indoor seating. Indoor seating, you have the pleasure of watching them make the bagels. It's cute because kids have some blocks they go on top of to be able to see. The interior has a very industrial vibe. There are gender neutral bathrooms to the side of the line. I always get overwhelmed by the amount of choices. If you want something sweet or savory they got you. Nova lox is pricey for $9.50, but it does fill you up. It pairs well with chive cream cheese and the veggies (like cucumbers, sprouts and red onion) that you add neutralize everything. The people who make your bagels are generous. They do not skimp on the stuff they put in your bagels. The service is pretty quick. The staff is friendly and polite. Recommend to anybody in the area to check it out, especially if you just need something quick to eat.

Real talk. These bagels are simply...OK. I didn't even eat them all, wasn't worth the calories. I'm used to Pop's Bagels in LA - I can eat a bagel, no spread or fixins, straight out of the bag. I look for a bagel where when I bite into it, I know exactly where it's from. Their bags and boastful messaging are not indicative of the product. The bagels are good, nothing notable.

Stopped by on my way home (I've been wanting to visit for a long time). Since they close at 2, I was never able to stop by during the week. I saw the fresh bagels and I went towards the small freezer. I got a package of the cinnamon raisin and ordered a pepperoni pizza bagel to go. They only have that topping and cheese only $7 & $8. Pizza bagels are served from 11 am on. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. You walk to your right when you come in and order and then go to the opposite side to pick up your order. There's a menu to look at on the counter. Lots of different bagels to choose from. You can order it toasted or not. And there's plenty of toppings and don't forget to ask what their daily special is. They have catering options (see the attached menu). The seating area is small & there's spots to sit outside. Parking is only on the street and they do have 1 handicapped parking by the front entrance. The fresh-frozen bagel is perfect once thawed and then toasted. I had mine with butter and it was great. I can't compare it to a NYC bagel (since I've never been there) but I enjoyed it. It would have been cool to see the factory pumping out bagels, but since I came by around 11, I'm guessing it was clean up time.

We were in the office for a team offsite and we were in the mood for bagels with cream cheese. I had a serious craving for a lox bagel, so we decided to order from Boichik via DoorDash. They didn't have a pre-set lox option, but I built my own, and it was fresh, delicious, and totally hit the spot! We also ordered the baker's dozen, which should've been 13, but we only received 11. Unfortunately, the sweet bagels we were looking forward to were left out. I'm sure it was a busy morning and just an oversight, but it was still a bit of a letdown. That said, the bagels themselves were fresh and tasty, and we'd definitely come back--next time in person so we can make sure everything is right.

I was craving bagels and saw a Tiktok recommending Boichik bagels. I made the journey to Berkley and bought a coffee, two bagels heated up to eat there and a frozen everything bagel bag with two different flavor cream cheeses. I honestly didn't think my bagel was toasted at all. I got two different flavor cream cheeses for my hubby and I ( hatch chili and chive) both tasted like plain cream cheese. Tried the frozen bagels at home and it was a miss as well. The take home cream cheeses also tasted plain and the everything frozen bagels are nothing special. I honestly think these are over priced considering I paid pretty much $50 for everything. The plus side is if you do go in person they have big windows to watch the factory workers make the bagels.

Had to check out the Boichik Bagels hype! I didn't know what to expect so I checked out the menu ahead of time and decided what I wanted before going in. It was fairly easy to pick what I wanted, but if I'm picking up multiple bagels, it might take some time and get a bit more complicated. Step 1, pick your bagel. Step 2, choose untoasted, toasted, or dark toasted (extra toasted). Step 3, pick a spread. Step 4, add salad or fish. Step 5, add veggies. It was my 1st time here, so we got a bunch of different bagels and spreads. First order was an everything bagel with a seasonal strawberry creme spread. The seasonal cream cheese sounded tasty and it happened to be strawberry! I got it toasted and I was surprised how much spread was inside the bagel, it was a hefty amount! The everything bagel was extremely seasoned, some might find it too salty. I rarely or almost never get a sweet spread on an everything bagel, but I was glad I did here because the sweet and milky strawberry creme paired well with the salty everything bagel, to my surprise! I ate half right away and it was delicious, but once I got home about 20 minutes later the bagel started getting tougher. I'd recommend eating the bagels right away or toasting them at home if you can't eat them right away, at least that's what I will do. Second order was a pumperthingel bagel a chive spread, toasted. Wow, this was another great option, lots of flavor in the bagel and it's hard to go wrong with a chive spread. Same with this bagel, it was best fresh and it was still good once we got home, but not as soft inside. They filled the spread massively onto this bagel as well, covering all the holes, see the pics below! Third order was The Classic, which has chive cream cheese, nova lox, tomato, red onion, and capers! Wow, that was a tasty classic Lox bagel, the name does it justice. Highly recommend if you want something more than just a bagel and spread. Parking can be tough on the weekends, but drive a block or 2 away and you should find parking. There are a lot of options for each bagel so it might be helpful to have a few menus posted at the line area so people can decide what they want before they get to the cashier to order. I didn't know what the seasonal spread was until I got to the cashier since there was a signage there. The everything bagel was well seasoned, but it may be too salty for some people. It's great that they added so much spread to the bagel, but again it might be too much spread for some people. I think next time, I'll either eat the bagel toasted on-site fresh or take it to-go with spread on the side and toast it when I'm ready to eat it!

I wanted to love this place so badly, but I just couldn't! My bagel and cream cheese were okay, but the bagel was honestly a bit dry, and even though I ordered an egg bagel, I think I got a plan one? The service was quick and friendly, but the bagel was just not up to par. The place itself is super cute. Great to bring kids for a chill breakfast but not for an amazing bagel, if that's what you're seeking.

TL;DR: come for the bagels, watch them produce things on the line, and leave without feeling like you over ate I love bagels from New York so I was looking around for similarly good bagels here on the west coast. I heard a lot about Boichik, and have seen it sold in frozen bags in places like Berkeley Bowl, so when the opportunity arose to pop by the factory to get a sandwich, I jumped at it. There's an ok amount of street parking in the area, and the factory is just down the street from Fieldwork so you could potentially get a bagel then get a beer or vice versa. When we got there after 1230, it wasn't crazy and the line was pretty short. Service was very friendly. There are seats indoors and outdoors and is overall pleasant. Lots of families and cyclists, and lots of people getting takeout. Egg salad on everything bagel: yum! The everything bagel is delicious and the egg salad was also very good. Hard to complain. White fish salad on onion bagel: love a good white fish salad, some people find it fishy but I love it. This went great with the cucumber and tomato, though it was a little messier to eat than the egg salad. All in all, I really liked the bagels at Boichik - I think that while they give a very satisfying chew, they are much lighter than NY bagels so I didn't feel overly stuffed after finishing my sandwich. The filing was a good ratio to the bread as well so you didn't feel short changed. I think they stuff them more in some places in NY but I was very satisfied with what I got.

Barely toasted and day old tasting bagel.

What happened? Today it tasted like a day old bagel that had been toasted for no longer than 1 second. When spending high end bagel money you expect a high end product. Today disappointed.

    Mensch on Everything Bagel
    Michael L.

I ate at Boichik Bagel for the first time today. The factory store is a very large location with both indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. I ordered two items: Mensch: this is the whitefish salad sandwich that includes tomato and cucumber. I really liked this sandwich. The everything bagel added the needed saltiness to the sandwich. If I were to change anything, I think some red onion slices would have hit the spot. Bialy: I was disappointed with this item. I've had much better. Very plain basic bialy. The food was prepared really fast and the cashier was very friendly. Not a bad experience. Prices were reasonable as well.

They sell beans and coffee accessories there too. We ordered a pour over and they had at least 7 beans to choose from, and even had Geishas (this may have been special beans on rotation). On the pricier side but that's expected. We also tried the Shiro miso latte, which was a tad disappointing.
