The lobster was a strong third. It wasn't prepared in a way that I'm used to, or how I expected it to be, but it was good. My friend said it was the best lobster he'd ever had. The scallops were in last place. They were pretty tasteless. Some of them were "dirty"; you know when you don't clean your seafood really well and get some grit in your teeth when eating it... So, I wouldn't order those again. We also had a nice sake, white wine, and whiskey. The service was a little slow- not very attentive, but they were very nice. The bill came to a little over $300 for the four of us. The only leftovers was the lobster. It was quite a large amount. Pretty reasonably priced menu. Definitely will cure your seafood cravings.

I have been to a few omakase experiences and this one was one of the most delicious with some of the best bang for buck. We started with Kumamoto oysters with ikura on top. I'm a huge fan of west coast oysters, but I've never had them with ikura and it was brilliant. Next, there were a couple of sashimi courses which were delicious. After that, a tempura course which was perfect with a couple prawns and a bunch of veggies, followed by a chawanmushi which was the best I'd ever had. I will be dreaming about this chawanmushi for the rest of my life. Every time I get sick, that is what I will be wishing for. Then came the nigiri, there were 8 nigiri pieces all of which were excellent. Next up, we had wagyu fried rice with sliced Wagyu and miso soup. Personally I found this fried rice exceptional, and I never seek out fried rice. The miso soup was also very good. Finally for dessert, we had the yuzu cheesecake with a scoop of brown sugar ice cream. I'd tried the cheesecake before, but not the brown sugar ice cream, which was excellent. This experience was incredible, and I would absolutely do it again. One thing to note is that although the omakase is on the menu at Kappo tsan, it can't always be guaranteed on walk ins, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. UPDATE: I forgot one thing! I am obsessed with this place, and I love them so much, but the one thing I wish I'd gotten was a menu of the evening at the end telling me everything I'd eaten so that I can reference it in the future.

We got nosy about something one of the chefs was cooking that we couldn't find on the menu, and he came over to us, explained what it was (a new dish he's testing), and offered to let us try some. Some people might balk at a service charge (we did before we got there haha) but after experiencing the service that we did, we'd gladly pay it again. The food was excellent - we didn't have a single bad bite. We eat a lot of Japanese food, and we both agreed that some of the dishes here were the best Japanese food we've had in the US, and the closest flavor-profile-wise to food we've had in Japan. We ordered a la cart, and the standouts were the cabbage app, the shiitake mushrooms, the crab croquette, and most of all the crab & ikura donabe. Seriously, if the crab & ikura donabe is on the menu when you're there, GET IT. We're considering going back for that one dish.
