This little hole in the wall Chinese takeout restaurant claims to be the best Chinese restaurant in downtown Orlando. From what I can see it is the only Chinese restaurant in the downtown area. All jokes aside the food is very tasty and aside from maybe some questionable baby corn cut up quality and overly fried egg rolls this is top tier Chinese food takeout fare. It looks like they've been in business for a long time. The shrimp with mixed Chinese vegetables was great aside from the hard tree stumps of chopped baby corn pieces. They even gave me extra white rice in case I need extra carbohydrates for the next day! Haha, I don't know what else to say about Empire Szechuan. The steamed pork dumplings were some of the better ones I've had in Orlando thick chewy dough. They were very good. My daughter and I also enjoyed the crispy beef very much. After a decent amount of trial and error with various locations around town we found Empire Szechuan after getting a flyer at our house. In the probably 10ish orders over the past 2 years, we've never been disappointed. Our go-to is the general tso's chicken which we order each time (white rice and extra sauce!). We usually mix it up with the second item and have tried a variety of menu items, all as great! Came here for lunch couple of times. It is very well priced lunch menu and you got a lot of options. Lunch comes with a drink, so you're getting a great deal. The first time, I got kung pao chicken and it was alright, the flavor and the texture of the pork fried rice I didn't care for much. The second time I got lo main noodles, which was a better tasting dish in my opinion. The service was neither here or there, kind of typical for a Chinese restaurant. Four stars. Now that's a pretty good rating for a quick-serve, delivery Chinese restaurant tucked away by a fur-coat shop in the north part of downtown Orlando. And it's deserved. Lemme tell you why. Get your food, and get back to your office. Then eat. Because here the food really shines. They've been at this game for a while, and you can tell by how serious their kitchen is. Lots of focused cooks, tending to fire-hot woks. It really is a legit operation. Egg drop soup and egg rolls are all as good as they need to be. But, for me, I go with the Kung Po Chicken. It's a spicy Szechuan dish with regular grilled chicken, thinly sliced carrots, onions, celery, and peanuts. And you can get it Extra Spicy, which I recommend. It's the way the dish is intended. But for only about $12 you get massive portions. It's relatively healthy. And you get enough for tomorrow's lunch. And that's what I'll be happily eating today. Bottom Line: Deliciously prepared. Unfortunately tonight when I ordered my usual meal, beef with vegetables, it was absolutely horrible. Right when I got my delivery my and I opened up my food, my house immediately started to smell of urine. A STRONG URINE odor penetrated my nose. It was incredibly hard to ignore.
