I came to Boiling BeiJing based on the recommendation of a popular YouTube vlogger. His recommendation did not disappoint. I have dined in and taken to go from this place and it has not disappointed in either fashion. Items ordered/tried: 1. Sichuan Cold Noodle ---These noodles were spicy and tasty. The noodles were slightly springy--I wish they were a little more al dente, but overall this dish was a very good. 2. Leek and Pork Dumpling ---These dumplings were very good and tasty. The skin is on the thicker side, but the filling inside is very tasty and full of flavor. 3. Beijing Lamb Ribs ---One of the best items they have here. Do not go without trying these ribs. They are soft/succulent and tender and they fall right off the bone. The sauce that it is dipped in goes really well with rice and/or noodles. 4. Cumin Lamb Fried Rice ---This was spicy and numbing but tasted very good. Had a good depth of flavor and you could taste the individual grains of rice. It was not watery/mushy at all and was very tasty. 5. Beef Pancake ---This beef pancake was just okay, it wasn't that spectacular compared to some other beef pancakes I have had in the SF Bay Area or Socal. There wasn't that much flavor within the beef pancake overall, maybe if they included more sauce between the beef and the pancake and or herbs (like cilantro/scallions). 6. Fried Sliced Noodles ---These noodles were very springy and very tasty. These noodles were very hearty and could stand on their own. I would highly recommend getting these noodles. 7. Honey Pomelo Tea Lotus Root ---This dish to me was way too sweet and had an offsetting flavor to it. It was a very unbalanced dish and did not taste very good. One thing I did not try and I may have to go back for is the hot pot. However, this is a la carte hot pot and there is no option to get AYCE, so this can also rack up in price. The free check in soda (& hug--I did not personally take up the offer for the hug) was a nice addition as well. Also with Yelp, there was a 10% rebate when I had eaten in the restaurant, which made eating there even sweeter. The restaurant offers a 5% discount if you pay in cash which can be a good option as well since I think the 10% rebate deal is no longer active. However, without the rebates/discounts, some of the dishes on the menu are quite pricey/expensive so be prepared for that. The staff was very attentive to our needs and were very nice. Overall I highly recommend coming to this restaurant and trying out their various dishes. They have a wide variety/selection of Chinese dishes from different regions of China and they integrate it into their cuisine very well. read more

Went to the airport a week ago to pick up some relatives from guess where?? Beijing! Did a quick yelp search for Chinese food in the area and this place popped up. Of course my relatives visiting from Beijing would want Beijing styled food :o that's like when Americans go to Mcdoanlds in China. We walked in and were greeted by Top 40 music which is rather unusual for Chinese restaurants but I did notice more of a younger crowd so that could be the reason. Judging by the name of the restaurant I was expecting hot pot to be the main focus of the restaurant but as of right now they only have 4 or 5 different set hot pot dishes on the menu. The owner/waiter? Told me that they are importing Chinese cloisonné pots and they should be here by mid June. At that time, they will have DIY hot pot where you actually cook the meats and veggies. Exciting. Started off with 3 bottles of Large YanJing, an import beer from China. Most Chinese restaurants carry Tsingtao and that's what I normally order, but I have to say, YanJing is just as good if not better. Very light, I would classify it as a Pilsner. We ordered two of the hot pot sets, the spicy chicken hotpot and the lamb hot pot. They came with cabbage, tofu and vermicelli. We also ordered the salt and pepper fish fillet, the hand tossed lamb and the Jian Bing Guo Zi (Chinese Street Pancake). The spicy chicken hot pot was a little too spicy for me, but my relatives enjoyed it. You can ask the chef to prepare it so that it is more mild if you can't really handle spicy food like me. The lamb hot pot was my favorite. Especially the tofu inside after it soaked up all of the delicious broth. Salt and pepper dish was really good, although it is a very Americanized dish. The soup in the hand tossed lamb was very light but super flavorful. Last but not least was the street pancake. The filling to dough ratio was a little off but the taste reminded me of the street pancake I had when I visited China. At the end of our meal, the owner gave us a free Beijing styled dessert. He was super friendly and explained the menu to us. Their menu is a little intimating and confusing if you are not familiar with the cuisine. Would give this place five stars but the food came out a little slower than usual. The owner said it was because a chef was sick and out for the day. This is my go to spot now if I need to swing by the airport. read more

The food is definitely Beijing-style as there are many lamb dishes. The copper pot is a bit small compared to authentic Beijing food and it's decent. The loin of lamb was very good although not spectacular. Interestingly, what blew me away were the fried prawns. It is super delicious and even the shell was fried to perfection. AMAZING food that is actually based on real Chinese cuisine..... NOT the american version of Chinese food. Don't get me wrong, you can get all of the regular stuff there, but the real deal is to ask the employees who speak no English what they would eat. Trust them, its good.... and its like nothing you've ever had. The only reason for four stars is the bathroom. I literally would not even want to take a piss in this bathroom again. I have NEVER seen a bathroom so dirty as this one. Having been in the restaurant business for a decade, I can tell you a restroom is indicative to how they also maintain the kitchen where the food is cooled. The lamb ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. The pickled soup was perfectly sharp and refreshing to offset the heavy food. I have been craving beef pancakes for a long time, and the perfectly crunchy pancake exterior contrasted nicely with the hot, minced meat. The noodles were the right texture and I came back for multiple helpings. Interestingly, the pork belly didn't come with steamed buns, but like the best pork belly, it was melt in your mouth and not overwhelming. The service was fast and attentive, bringing both water and tea, refilling our hotpot water levels, and replating dishes onto smaller plates to make room on the table. read more

The roast duck was good, but everything else was very average, especially the braised fish. The restaurant also felt dirty, and the service was lacking. The restroom was absolutely disgusting--there was urine all over the floor and no toilet paper. I used the restroom three separate times during my visit, and there was still no toilet paper each time. At one point, the person in the next stall even asked me for toilet paper through the gap under the stall because theirs had run out too. It was obvious no one was checking or cleaning the restroom. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing, and I won't be coming back. read more

My friends and I had the hotpot for dinner, the ingredient selections were very limited, so we ended up ordering from the regular menu to make sure we have enough of food. The waitresses were not really attentive, we had to keep waving to get them to come to our table. Now, the worst part of the dining experience was that, when the bill came, I gave them my credit card to pay for the meal since my friend's gf was visiting, the cashier came back asking us to pay in cash, so my friends ended up treating me dinner! This is unacceptable, at least the cashier should have approached me first since I was the one provided the credit card! read more

This is probably my favorite Chinese food spot in the Bay Area. Everything tastes like it would in China and it just takes me back every time! Any of their lamb dishes are always a must because it's just so tender and juicy. The salt and pepper shrimp was perfectly fried and not oily at all. The beef pancake was good, I wish it was a little ore crispy but it was good. When I went with my family their lamb hot pot was just like the ones you get in China. It sure warms you up after eating it. This place is probably the definition of comfort Chinese food that takes you back to China read more

This is my first time writing a review on yelp, so bear with me. I was driving to the airport and I saw the grand opening banners outside this restaurant. I am from Beijing so I was attracted by the name of this restaurant and I decided to try it out. I was in a rush so I ordered one of their lunch specials. It was pretty affordable (7.95) considering the amount of food that they give you. It came with a soup as well. The food was good and I was able to leave within 30 minutes or so. good spicy food，I went here today with a few of my girlfriends because we were walking by and noticed the grand opening sign. A lot of the items on the menu were new to us but the friendly waiter was patient and explained the different choices to us. My favorite dish was the iron skillet red wine garlic shrimp. I didn't know if I would like it when the waiter suggested it but it turned out to be a great combination of flavors. After we finished eating we received a $5 certificate for spending over $50. Boiling Beijing in San Bruno is a must-visit for anyone craving bold Chinese flavors. The Peking duck is absolutely the highlight, with crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat--hands down the best I've ever had. The menu also offers great dishes like the sizzling fish and refreshing cold noodles, all bursting with flavor. Service is friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is cozy yet modern. This is the best Chinese food in San Mateo. I've been there for several times and feel satisfied by the food and service every time. Though called Boiling Beijing, the food type doesn't limit to Beijing style. Instead you can taste many kinds of Chinese food in there. The food at Boiling BeiJing was very good, especially the Peking duck, which was delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the service and hospitality were disappointing. Ordered Beijing duck, Beijing Style Special Braised Lamb Ribs and a few other dishes. My wife and I both think it's the best Beijing duck we ever had in bay area. The lamb rib is delicious with quite tender meat. The price is also reasonable. I would highly recommend it and come back again. read more

Very authentic northern Chinese dishes, hot pot and Beijing duck. They are also releasing some Szechuan food. As somebody grew up in north China and studied 4 years in Sichuan, I highly recommend Boiling Beijing. read more
