WARNING: UNPROFESSIONAL AND JIPS YOU This Chino location for Boiling Point is my go to since it's the closest one to my house. I was here about a month ago and realized they overcharged my bill a couple bucks after from what I signed off on (total plus tip). I thought to myself "it's okay its just a couple of dollars and the person might have done it by mistake". I came back again just this past Friday for lunch Special and my bill was 3 Beef pots. I tipped and my whole total was 44.51. I checked my bank statement just cause I was curious they overcharged me last time and what did I expect they overcharged me AGAIN!!! They overcharged me 55.51. I don't get how you can confuse a number "4" with a "5". THIS PLACE IS SUSPICIOUS and I don't get how a 14 dollar tip from the original total to be $55 is normal??? Please they offer bare minimal service to get a tip. I called this place and an employee kept lying and changing his stories about where the manager was. Can't blame this place for always having a line, especially during the winter. Who doesn't want hot soup?! Went here during lunch break to try the Mala Beef that they brought back and ordered it flaming spicy. They only serve this in two spice levels and I had to try the spiciest one. Left me mouth burning but it was so full of flavor and very filling. Given that this is a "L" large option, if you're not going there starving you could totally share this and just add a few side dishes. Glad that during lunch the offer a drink with your order, cause I needed it to wash down the in mouth! Definitely had the "MALA" sensation when that flavor hits your tongue. I took my friend to this place to try hotspot for the first time, I have been to many locations and this one tasted just as good as the others! I ordered the Thai Fusion very spicy. It tasted delicious and the service was great, it took only a short while for the food to arrive and I jumped into it. The servers were nice offering extra soup or water. The only thing I did not like was that there is a spot to put the number to get points on the app, I don't believe they even put in my number and it has been quite a while since I ate here. It's been awhile since i last reviewed Boiling point here in Chino Hills. This place has always served great food, and although there have been some changes to their food, for better or worse, for the most part they have continued to improve. Years ago when I first reviewed this restaurant I gave them 4 out of 5 because their food is great but their service sucked especially as so many of their staff couldn't even speak English. But now, after some years, I can definitely attest to the fact that their customer service has really grown better along side with their food and options. I love their house special(it has stinky tofu of which i secretly still tell people i hate but really i like now) and curry soup options. I also love ordering their tofu skin and pork intestine on the side. So now I've increased my past review of 4 out of 5 stars to 5 out of 5. Keep it up Boiling point Chino Hills! read more

I have tried to make a phone order with them three days of the week at first I called on a Saturday and I thought they might be busy so I gave up and bought In-N-Out and here I am calling on a Tuesday night and still no one picking up! It was good, love the taiwanese hot pot. It's larger and more expensive and only one spicy level option, flamin hot! The wait is so ridiculously long, waited over an hour to get a table for 2 from 7:30-8:50. As we were eating, the line never stopped so be prepared to wait and check in using the text option so you can leave somewhere to snack and then come back when they text you that your table is almost ready. If your table is ready, you still have to wait another 10-15 mins anyway lol. This boiling point is a lot smaller than all other locations so probably why the wait is even longer. Beware! I have not visited this store for years after they almost once burned my brother-in-law by pouring the hot soup on his lap. The customer services were still as awful as before. The soup base has gotten worse. They never cleaned the table correctly. I told the waiter that they did not follow the health department's guideline of sanitizing the table, etc. The waiter said that they ran the rag's through soaping water. Running rags under the soaping water is not sanitizing. The clear acrylic they set up by the table was never cleaned with lots of food residues. In addition, they left the trash bin next to my table while waiting to clean the table next to me. It was an awful dining experience. read more

I go to the boiling point in Irvine A LOT and I like the standard they've set. Parking at this location shouldn't be an issue since the lot is huge. This location is SMALL, meaning that you're squeezing into tables and the waiters are struggling to move around as well. You can see the scruffs around the walls and the cushion in the booths popping off too. Food, still the same quality overall. Did get one strange tasting tofu, taste tested by my friends for confirmation that I wasn't crazy. I only got one quail egg which I found strange as well, sorry if this is getting very knit picky but after my service annoyance I started paying VERY close attention to everything. Service was extremely lacking, like you could tell the employees were just chilling and going through the motions. They had the trainee seating people and I was waiting for him to come back to the door after I got my text. The people after me just went in and found him and he sat them without even calling our number first, wasn't a big deal since we sat down right after but was still annoying. When you walk in to a boiling point, all the employees are suppose to say welcome in mandarin but it was really just the trainee. This is not an issue at all, just a testament to their attention. They were definitely running around a lot from time to time but a lot of standing around instead of being proactive to avoid being really busy all at once. When they brought our food the waiter almost knocked over one pot after bumping the table because there was just no space for him and he had to pull the table back into place after. They also never came by to check if we needed anything or if we wanted more broth. Yet they had time to chat and sing along to songs really loudly at one point. The Irvine location just set a precedent of service and quality that I was expecting but did not receive. Trying to increase profits with squeezing tables definitely was detrimental to the dinning experience. If it's to "try and shorten the wait" just move to a bigger location the sardines and inefficiency of this set up is not worth it. My friend and I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and checked in on the iPad in front of their entrance. There were 2 parties of 2 in front of us and we ended up waiting around 10min prior to being seated. The menu has changed from the last time I've been here. They increased the prices and added some new hot pot flavors. I got the lamb hot pot and my friend got the beef hotpot. We both got additional sides of meat. Lunch meals include your choice of iced green tea or black tea. Both are already sweetened and the black tea is sweeter than the green tea. You get to choose either a side of rice or vermicelli noodles (most hot pots already include vermicelli) so I always get rice. You also get to customize the spice level for your soup. The hotpot comes out with almost everything already cooked and they light the fire for you to keep the soup hot. Definitely order a side of meat if you're a meat lover since the meat that comes with the hotpot will not be enough. There's different sauces on the table that you can mix n match for dipping. I personally like a mix of the garlic bean paste and the garlic soy sauce. You can also ask them for more hotpot soup if you're someone who likes drinking the soup. If your hotpot is boiling too much and splashing everywhere you can also ask them to stop the flame. The restaurant is located in the same plaza as Costco and there's plenty of parking. Overall, the place is always busy, so expect some wait. Service is okay considering how busy they are. read more

Despite long line and not a lot of staff work here, the service is top notch and is often you get all the request or even before you ask them,. I think the quality is been downnhill despite the price is the same as before. They cutting corner in meat. But the broth is still good and better than most hot pot. 2.5 stars. I'm very confused as to why this place is ALWAYS so busy. Right from the moment they open there is always such a long line and I don't understand why. I finally had the patience to wait and see how this place was and I gotta say I was definitely not impressed at all. I hadn't eaten the whole day so I was starving. Usually when I'm super hungry pretty much anything tastes like heaven so my standards were already set pretty low. But the taste of everything was very mediocre. I think the best thing I tried there was the black iced tea which came free with the meal. First of all, I hate the fact that they barely have any variety on their menu. I recently for personal reasons gave up pork and crustaceans and pretty much every item on their soup menu had pork or crustaceans in it and the only thing I was able to order was the vegetarian soup. I've been to many other hot pot places that have other selections such as salmon or beef and I was just really disappointed that this place did not have any of those to offer unless they were pre-mixed with pork. Their sauces did not impress me either and I really need someone to explain to me why the pots are so shallow. It made it a lot more difficult for me to eat because I was scared all the content would just fall out. I heard it's to speed up the boiling process but I would much rather wait a little while longer and be comfortable eating from the bowl than worried about the tofu falling off. Some pros would be the strawberry and mango macaron ice cream sandwiches and the little shot of dessert drink they give at the end. The servers were all very nice too and I never had to ask for a refill on my broth because they were on top of that. Came here around 5ish on a Thursday night and there was no wait for a table for 2. Yup, not having to wait for a table at Boiling Point is a rare, nice surprise. Although smaller in size, the service here is a lot better than other locations. I'm not sure if this was due to the lack of customers at the time or if the waitresses were just overall more friendly, but we had our drinks refilled several times and consistently asked if we would like to have our soup refilled. I ordered my usual - beef hot soup, no spicy with rice. I like to dip my meat into a mixed concoction of sauces, which is usually readily available to you on the table. It was delicious, as ever! I love going to this boiling point rather than the one in garden grove because the service is bad over there. Seems like the service is horrible at any one of these locations. They seem to ignore you when you are trying to flag someone down. They are only attentive when it comes to picking up the bill. The food though never disappoints. I always get the beef flavor with ramen on the side. I love that you get a free tea with lunch time. If you're looking for good soup then this place is it. Expect crappy service though. read more

My usual stomping grounds pretty much once a month! They have a few new items in rotation, one of them being this Pomelo flavor, available only in Southern California. The pomelo is a type of grapefruit citrus. This location really blew me away today. We only ordered one to share, and when it came time to put in more broth, we said the usual "sure". The lady poured in the soup and immediately another server (probably the manager?) came by and let us know that the lady accidentally put in the wrong broth and he would take it to the back and change the broth. I wasn't totally interpreting what he had said since that has never happened to us, so I said "oh, but we still have meatballs we just put in." He said that was "ok" and took the bowl back. We sat for around 10 minutes waiting for the wok to be returned to us with the proper broth. He came back to say that they would just remake it for us, sorry for taking the extra long time, and offered us any drinks we would like on the house. I was caught off guard so I just ordered two more green teas to go. This was a really nice gesture and beyond the call of duty to make our soup right. Very pleased. Great service. After waiting for an entirely new wok to come to us, we were able to enjoy all our food (again!). Note: Through this we realized the pork intestines must be cooked a little longer to be tasty. We thought at first it had expired. They even brought us a new plate of meatballs to compensate for the ones we lost in the mixed broth. Wow. In addition, totally icing on the cake, another one of the workers offered us a coupon for our next visit and profusely apologized for the mix up. I am just totally blown away by their service today. AWESOME. They went above and beyond fixing their mistake, but I hope other restaurants take note of this -- this is truly how you get loyal customers... And that cost the restaurant what? As a tip, if you're going for lunch, I recommend coming 15 minutes before opening to put yourself on the list. The extra time you wait in the beginning will save you an hour of waiting if you go later. For example, for my party of 7, we came around 20 minutes prior to opening (so 10:40am) to make sure we got a table. There is always a huge wait around noon, so be smart about it and get there early! Their food portions are pretty nice, however I wish they gave more meat in their soups. I recommend going for lunch because you get a free green tea/black tea with your order, and it's a dollar cheaper than the dinner price. I always get the lamb hot soup, so if you're in the mood for lamb, I definitely recommend it. If not, the Korean hotpot and the beef hotpot are also good decisions. If you're in the mood for more food, and are willing to pay 4$ more, I recommend the miso hotpot! If you're a first timer, I definitely recommend the beef flavor or the Taiwanese spicy if you can really handle it. The sauces here are to die for and mixing the garlic with the reddish peanut (not sure what it is) sauce is the best. Dip everything including the meats, fishballs, vermicelli, and Napa cabbage in there. You can also ask for more soup if you drank it all or if it evaporates. Unresponsive, told us that there was no option for spiciness even though it is not true, didn't bring us the drinks we ordered, and ignored us the entire time. I had to get up to get the check even though we asked him nicely and he was standing next to us, then I had to get up to pay after he walked next to us and saw the credit card on the bill. We were very polite and originally thought it was the restaurant being crowded, but it wasn't. I mentioned it to the cashier and he even had the nerves to tell me not to come back. I know that there are a lot of hits and misses with Boiling Point but I personally really like it and I keep coming back on them cold or not so cold days. THE DETAILS: Located next to a Thai restaurant and around the Costco shopping center. Plenty of parking but it can get pretty packed. It's a pretty small restaurant and they jam tables together, but it works. There are also a couple of booths along the wall. The decor is modern with hanging light fixtures. It's clean and well-kept as well. I've came for lunch and it's surprisingly not that busy since they have a lunch special: $10.99 for most of the soups and $14.99 for the specialty ones + you get a free black/green tea. Dinner time is always packed and there's always a wait. You grab a number, write your name and the number on a clipboard, and they'll call you when your table is ready. Dinner is $11.99 and $15.99 for the specialty ones. The specialty soups only come in 1 size and it's the biggest size. The wait varies but I usually wait around 20 mins or so. The service is pretty fast and they are always friendly to me. Plus, you get a little THE FOOD: My all time favorite is the Japanese Miso Hot Soup but since it only comes in one large size, I find that I get morbidly full after attempting to eat the whole thing to myself. So, the next best thing is beef hot soup. You also get to choose between rice or clear noodles. --Japanese Miso Hot Soup: One size, large. I love all of the ingredients that this hot soup comes with. It comes with a variety of things from enoki (my fav) mushrooms, fish cakes, an egg to beef, crab, and udon noodles. It also has a bunch of veggies as well. You can choose how spicy you want the soup and I usually go for medium. The miso flavor is very thick and creamy and medium spicy is perfect for me. I usually share this with a friend and we're both content after (plus room for dessert!) --Beef Hot Soup: The beef comes in two sizes: regular and large. The beef comes with less food but it's the perfect size to finish on your own. The beef contains beef (obviously), corn, some fish balls I think, tomatoes, veggies, and more. The beef broth is very flavorful and rich. --Green Tea Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich: When I have room for dessert (which I usually do), I'll sometimes get this as a little treat. Don't bite into it right away because it'll still be hard, so wait for it to get a little soft (that's what she said) and then bite away. The macaron shell will be soft and your teeth will glide right through the shell and ice cream. The green tea ice cream is pretty good and has a lot of flavor. THE END? I like Boiling Point a lot! I used to hate hot pots and would dread eating it. My friend said she wanted to eat at Boiling Point for lunch recently and I reluctantly agreed. I was so surprised that i actually really enjoyed it! I love the fact that everything came already cooked and ready to eat in individual portions! Flavors were spot on and all the individual components of each hot pot were unique and tasty. The dipping sauces they offered at your table was what really won me over tho. I ended up dipping practically everything in it!! I would recommend gettimg mild spicy cuz i got medium and it was quite spicy, a lot more than i had imagined. I tried mild the 2nd time and it was perfect. The service at this location was excellent, at least during my visit. Servers were friendly and constantly walked around to check on everyone. I had gone to the Hac.
