If you go on weekdays, definitely check out their daily specials. My personal favorite is the Monday spicy chicken cutlet special. It comes with a green or black tea, and you can pick your sugar level. Ordering is super easy since you can do it online or in person, and there is always plenty of parking, which makes picking up real convenient. Just a heads up on their hours. The kitchen closes earlier than the actual store. I tried getting takeout 15 minutes before closing once and was turned away because the kitchen was already closed. Next time I will make sure to get there at least 30 to 40 minutes before they close. Overall, totally worth checking out for standard Taiwanese comfort food. I love this restaurant. It is really fast and convenient option if you want good Taiwanese food. If you have never tried this place before, try it. This has quickly become a go-to restaurant whenever I am in need of good, convenient food. They also provide free drinks and soups to enjoy for those who dine in. Their desserts are fire too. Stumbled on this place as my bestie and I had a craving for Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It's a quaint little restaurant... not much seating. The server was very nice, greeted us and told us it was going to be a short wait. She was kind enough to show us the menu and even told us we could order if we wanted to so that our food would be ready by the time we were seated. Since it was our first time, I asked her for recommendations and she politely gave us a few to consider. After about 10 minutes, we were seated and immediately placed our order. Note, if you don't order drinks, there are self-serve drinks dispensers filled either chilled water and lemonade. There wasn't much lemonade left and because they were closing at 8pm (we arrived around 6:45ish) it didn't look like they were going to refill it. There's also some sort of hot tea and some type of soup, but also... both were also empty and were not refilled. They have quite a selection of things to order on the menu. There was so much to choose from but since we wanted to just "snack" on smaller bites, rather than a full meal... we ordered popcorn chicken, crispy pork chop, and soup dumplings. The popcorn chicken was nicely seasoned and the serving was plentiful! The crispy pork chop was also very tasty and tender. It had a nice crispy and flavorful crust and very tender meat in the middle. My only complaint is that they didn't offer any type of sauce to accompany either the chicken or the pork chop. While they do have an assortment of condiments including soy sauce, chili paste, and dark vinegar, we were hoping to have some type of sweet and sour sauce or something to enhance the fried snacks. The soup dumplings were just okay for me. I felt like the filling didn't have enough soup, meat wasn't as flavorful and the dumpling wrapper was a bit thick for my liking. We also ended our "snacks" with a Taiwanese shaved ice dessert. We chose the "create your own" style which came with 5 choices of toppings. We chose: almond jelly, custard, red bean, taro and condensed milk. First of all, the bowl is huge! So there's plenty to share. However, it's not the Taiwanese shaved ice that I expected in that it truly was just shaved ice with toppings. I was actually expecting the ice to have more of a milky texture to it like most Taiwanese shaved ice places that I have tried in the past. Rather, there were also quite a few ice cubes in our bowl and we needed to request extra condensed milk because it really lacked the necessary milk and sweetness. No worries! A solid Taiwanese spot, seems like they moved so I had to check out this spot. They now have a self ordering kiosks for takeout or you can sit down and dine in. The seating arrangement is similar to a boba cafe, not too much but not too little. Most tables can seat up to 4 people which is great. I'm a big fan of the popcorn chicken bento box (14.50) but this time I opted for the braised minced pork over rice bento. ($14) Food came out decently quick, and presentation is pretty standard to your usual dish. I do love the flavor mix between all the vegetables, pork, and tomatoes. The side of eggs is also a nice touch to the dish. If you mix it well, you can get that savory/sweet flavoring which I absolutely love. For drinks, you can head over next to the counter and you'll see drinks to fill on your own. Options are wintermelon tea, oolong tea, and water. Options could change but there's also drinks to order as well, haven't had the chance to try those but perhaps the next time I visit. What a great find in stumbling across this cozy Taiwanese Spot With Delicious Comfort Food. I hadn't been to a Taiwanese restaurant in so long, so I was really excited to try Dago Bento House. We came on a Saturday around 1:30pm and waited about 20 minutes--not too bad. The interior is small but clean, cozy, and inviting. Service was fast and friendly, but one of the best surprises was the self-serve station up front with hot soup, winter melon tea, and brown sugar ginger tea. The soup was comforting and flavorful, the winter melon tea was light and refreshing, and the ginger tea was warm, fragrant, and absolutely delicious. For food, we ordered the Peddler Noodle Soup, which ended up being the most disappointing dish. There was very little minced meat and the broth just didn't have the depth of flavor I've had at other Taiwanese spots. The pork & chive dumplings, on the other hand, were delicious and satisfying, and the popcorn chicken was a total hit--my daughter loved it so much she nearly finished the whole plate herself. I also tried the pork belly with bamboo shoots rice plate with minced pork. While the minced pork portion was smaller than expected, the pork belly itself was tasty, and the side veggies were plentiful and delicious. Oolong or winter melon teas, but both are pre-sweetened). And self service condiments in same area. Fried Swai fish bento box - this was ok. Fish seasoned and fried well. The veggies were the best part of the dish. There was no mince meat on the rice as shown in menu pictures. Dish needs a good dipping sauce for the fish. I AM A FAN. Let me tell you why... Milk teas!! I actually thoroughly enjoyed their milk teas. They were very well balanced and I LOVE that you can adjust the sweetness here. I take that to mean they don't just make a huge batch sitting around. Also, it's a no-frills type of milk tea and honestly sometimes that all you need! The dry noodle was delicious for me. I tend to not like things too salty, so if you're like me, you have found a home here! The noodles were the perfect consistency and I loved the ingredients in it - though I could have had a bit more minced meat. Overall, I enjoyed it and would order again because I liked the light flavor. The braised chicken was also delicious. Again, it's on the lighter flavor profile side, so take that into consideration. However, my experience is constantly dampened by slow and terrible service. This is particularly true with some of the young male servers. This place is 3 stars for the popcorn chicken. Got the combo box and the chicken was all tiny pieces of scraps. I couldn't taste any five spice seasoning in it at all and the chicken was sweet. The fish ball is mostly flour, and the curry taste was so watered down. Next side was plain steamed broccoli that is undercooked. Cold noodles with hot and sour chicken - ok so this one was actually 4 stars because I really enjoyed the sour sauce for the noodles and the numbing and fragrant oil for the fried chicken. There was so much onion and fried onion in it. Taste was completely off and not authentic. Our braised pork belly with preserved veggie bento came with no rice, and just a huge box of broccoli. The description says with salad and fried spring roll, which this did not. The braised Pork was tough. Popcorn chicken had no flavor. If the original Dago is still around, go there!
