I was craving something a little healthier while I was in the Brandon area, and I found Bolay. You get to choose from some of their pre-curated menu "Chef Bols" or you can create your own with your choices of veggies, grains, proteins, and sauces. I did the build your own "Bol" in the regular size with 3 veggies, greens, or grains - I did the Asian sweet potato noodles (amazing!), the chopped kale salad, and the sweet chili brussel sprouts. For my protein I did the roasted salmon ($3 upcharge). I also added on fresh avocado ($2 upcharge) and goat cheese ($.50 upcharge). For my sauce, I did the creamy garlic and herb sauce. The "Bol" was absolutely delicious! I really want to try their other options, but the bowl I made was just so darn good, I may have to get it again! To drink, I had the Bolay Island Time strawberry orange juice. Make sure you shake the bottle, but it was so yummy and refreshing! I will definitely be back for more! Very interesting healthy fast food join. They do carry vegan food. However I like some non vegan sections which is more interesting. I think the bowl here has good base for the selection. This includes many choices like cilantro noodle, Asian sweet potatoes noodle (recommended), forbidden black rice, Tuscan zucchini and more. We got two bowl. Our protein is spicy Thai shrimp and mojo pull pork. The shrimp is up charge with 8 shrimps provided. I also creamy garlic sauce and eel sauce. The topping also good. Bolay is the BOMB! I first tried Bolay in West Palm Beach a few years ago. Then scarfed down Bolay in Winter Park. I knew I loved it right away. Quality ingredients, so fresh, and everything cooked to perfection. The other fresh bowl places can't even compare to the amazingness of Bolay. This is the third Bolay I have been to, and it sure is consistently amazing. I had a small bowl and just because it says small, and looks small doesn't mean it is. It's quite filling. I say pick your own toppings. Mine were forbidden rice(black rice) & sweet potato noodles, mushrooms, shrimp, parm, and cilantro. Sauces I picked were cilantro pesto and creamy garlic. The bowl is so good already. The sauces compliment it but essentially sauce is not even needed. I love the tea choices. I picked the berry patch. I'm always afraid Berry type teas taste like liquid medicine, but nope it's awesome!! I'm going to be back. So we checked out Bolay and were pleasantly surprised to find the food delicious and fresh. I thought it may be on the salty side as many places can be but it was not. So many combinations to choose from. Roasted vegetables , noodles, black rice, also meats, and sauces (I'm not into sauces so I skipped those) Both of us couldn't finish our meals so we took them home and ate them the next day (still delicious). This is one of the healthiest fast food options in the area. The store is still very new and very clean and the people super friendly. The whole process of ordering is very similar to how a Chipotle works. You order your bowl and pick a base, then veggies, then meat, and finally extra toppings and sauces. The ordering is quick and easy, but I would say that the screens over head could be cleaned up a bit to make it easier to pick out before you walk up to order. They have their own unique drinks to go with your food and a few of them have been very tasty. The meals themselves vary heavily, but that is more so on you and not them since you pick out what you put in it. I am going to be honest and say that I have chosen a bad combo in the past. There is ample seating, including a back patio (I have never sat out here as it over looks 60). If you are coming here from Lakewood, take the very first entrance to the plaza because the next entrance is only supposed to be used for people going the other direction and can cause a wreck. For Veggie options I got the potatoes and the beans, both were good choices, the potatoes had some herbs add to make it more interesting. For Proteins I got the Teriyaki Chicken which was great, very flavorful and tender meat. My husband chose this spot and I didn't think it would be anything more than a healthy choice, but the food ended up being really good. It has a "fresh off the grill" taste and even the veggies have great flavor. Nothing is bland or boring, which was a fear of mine. The decor was bright and trendy and the menu is pretty self-explanatory. I took off a star because I was a bit put off by one of the employees failing to let me know that if I only wanted one item from the veggie/starch section (you get three choices) that I could get double or triple servings of that one item. Luckily a very helpful and awesome employee named Ashley saw that my large bowl only had a couple of potatoes and she let me know that I could have more servings if I wanted. The previous employee seemed to be annoyed that she did this for me. My husband appreciated this because he's an eater and it was his bowl. Ashley was so patient with me given it was my first time. The only other thing that bothered me was that I noticed I was charged for a Chia Pudding when I got home. I hate chia seeds and I hate wasting money, so this was disappointing. All of those hiccups aside, if we're just judging the food, it was a perfect meal. Guiltless, good eating! I already love it! It was my first time at Bolay. I've never been to any other location. I've heard great things about them, and I've been waiting for them to open. Well, now it's open and I must say that I agree with all of the 5 star reviews. The service was the first thing I noticed. Everyone was friendly, kind, and helpful. Automatically they said you can sample anything you want. That made me feel special. I didn't need to sample anything because I already knew what I wanted, but it's nice to know that you can try it first if necessary. I asked for a small Baja Lemon Chicken Bol which typically comes with cilantro noodles and jasmine rice as the base. I substituted the rice with the kale salad and it was a great decision. The salad had a light and sweet dressing on it that went perfectly with the lemon chicken and cilantro noodles. The cilantro noodles were also very good. I believe it's the cilantro pesto sauce mixed with the noodles. What I liked is that the cilantro didn't overpower any of the other flavors. The lemon chicken was tender and tasty even by itself. It also comes with Ginger broccoli which was also very tasty. Now, the avocado was an upcharge but it was well worth adding it. If you look at the pictures you'll see that it's fresh avocado that is sliced right there in front of you. It was exactly what I wanted and needed that afternoon. They had some juices and cookies towards the end of the serving line and right before you pay. The Hawaiian Healer was a great combination of pineapple and ginger. They had other juices as well, but I'm happy with what I picked out based on one of the staff member's recommendations. I went to add the chocolate chip cookie and to my surprise they gave it to me just because it was my first visit. How wonderful is that? Yes, I am going back for many more visits. So, I arrived at around 4:30 on a Thursday. There were no other diners there at that time. I was thinking it would be full of people since they just opened the week before. Well, now I know the best time to go free of crowds. They also have a pick up area for online orders which is convenient and near the entrance. The dining area is open and clean. There is plenty of parking. It's an easy plaza to get in and out of because there are 2 traffic lights at both ends to take you back onto Brandon Blvd. Location, location, location is what they say. It's the perfect location. I'll be back to try the Thai Shrimp & Noodles. The glass sweet potato noodles look very good, but I know I'll eventually try it all. I usually have a small bowl ($8.79) with half spinach half noodles with tofu, mushroom and broccoli and sometimes add the extra avocado($1.50) Large bowls are $11.29 and shrimp is extra ($2.29) Drinks run $2.39, so two people can eat for $35 dollars with tip. We need more restaurants like Bolay in the world. Tried them out for the very first time while on business and I can't find a flaw. The service was exceptional, had a staff member stop by 2-3 times to check on me including the manager. The food was fresh, tasty and most importantly it's on the healthier side, big plus for me. Fountain drinks were superb, the mandarin cardamon was a hit for me, so was the Baja Chicken bowl. 10 out of 10.
