My wife and I have made weekly visits since Bolay opened. The food is great and the portions are certainly filling. The selection of Colas, teas, and juices are unique and diverse. I feel like the prices can get a little out of hand...its very easy to take the $11 bowl and make it into a $20 bowl. Definitely caught me off guard when I took the first bite I was anticipating all of it to be warm. Other than that, it was good. Very clean eating but the protein/meat taste very weird and processed. The shrimp seem a little undone and very slimy. I'm a texture person so that killed my whole shrimp experience with them. This place is very nice on the inside, im going to be honest, the food is really really good, the only thing I don't really like is the up-charge for almost everything, they have to many items that are premium and it gets a little bit annoying because just to get goat cheese it's 0.50$ I think that's ridiculous to charge for, you can only choose one sauce also... The staff is very friendly, however, I did have some issues when I got to the register because they're is a lot of people in the training process which it's understandable! We have always enjoyed eating at Bolay - Gainesville, whenever we visit our son in Gainesville. Last night (4/12/19), i wanted to have an oil free meal. Called in and Daniel (the manager at that time) went more than the extra mile, to look up ingredients behind each category and came up with a combo of dishes. He also offered to make a separate tofu batch. We went over later for dinner, and he took care of our needs exactly as he had outlined. AWESOME!!!!! I'm working in Gainesville for 2 weeks and staying at the Residence Inn on SW 40th Blvd. I'm very particular about diet, so I was super thrilled to have Bolay close by! I tried it out for the first time yesterday. I got the large "bol," with steak au jus and the Thai spicy shrimp, broccoli, brussels sprouts, had forbidden rice & sweet potato noodles as the base. I ended up eating about half of it and saving the rest for today. Delicious both times! I went to Bolay this Sunday and I was very pleased with my takeout order. I ordered my bowl online and the whole process was very easy. You can order through the Bolay website or Uber eats/doordash. I decided on ordering through the website to ensure my order would not be messed up. When I walked in, the employees were considerate and found my food very quickly. As for the food, I have eaten a little bit of everything at Bolay and I recommend getting their bbq chicken with basmati rice and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Their garlic and herb sauce is divine as well as their roasted potatoes. Overall, I would definitely recommend Bolay to anyone who wants a healthier option that stays open later! read more
