When I first arrived there was a super long line just to get fabric cut. I decided to shop for a while until there were only two people in line. They are really good at getting everyone through as quick as possible and had over 6 people just cutting yardage. After you get your fabric cut, you go to a second line to pay, but I only waited about 2 minutes. I guess just timed it right. HINT: they have the full price fabric up by the front door. Skip that and head to the piles of fabric towards the side and back of the store. The only thing I couldn't find there was on brand fabrics like Hello Kitty and the Nightmare Before Christmas. As if their prices weren't low enough, they have a bargain area in the back of the store with even lower prices and other specialty materials like vinyl. Plenty of parking as well.

The store has a wide selection of fabrics and it can be a bit overwhelming, but with patience you will surprise yourself with your findings. This led to me spending way too much time and money at LA Finch Fabrics on a random Saturday. This sewing based brick and mortar is 50/50 LA Finch and Sewing Lab. LA Finch specializes in all things sewing, selling all the necessities, quirky accessories, and a huge variety of fabrics for any project. I grabbed a new pair of sewing scissors, a rolling blade, and a grid cutting mat. Sewing Lab offers weekly classes for beginners and specialty classes for those looking to further their craft. The next thing I knew I was forced into the car and found myself driving her to Los Alamitos. The store is actually a combination of two businesses; the LA Finch Fabrics store and also a sewing school called Sewing Lab, which has a separate Yelp listing (at https://www.yelp.com/biz/sewing-lab-los-alamitos-los-alamitos-2?osq=Sewing+Lab+Los+Alamitos). This quick review is just for the fabric portion of the store. They are a small shop, not nearly as large as JoAnne Fabrics was, but they have a surprisingly large selection of fabrics to choose from, as well as a vast array of remnants. My wife found several fabrics that she loved and purchased multiple yards of. The women who work here were extremely helpful and congenial, providing exceptional customer service. They also sell sewing machines and a plethora of sewing accessories. I think the non-fabric items are sold by the Sewing Lab side of the business but honestly I was a bit confused about the division, but it really doesn't matter as it's all available for purchase.

Robin is extremely knowledgeable, patience and helpful. Super thankful for her. My local sew shop closed a couple of years ago and I'd been at a loss as to where to go. We go through everything you need to know about the machine, threading it, bobbins, patterns, how to read a pattern, how to choose the right fabric, how to trim and use patterns. Everything you can think of. She is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. It is always a joy to go to class! So far we've made, a pouch, pillow case, pajama shorts. We have a last project that is TBD! But you truly get to work at your own pace. Everything is provided for you. Highly recommend anyone who is interested in sewing to take a class! The store itself is very well kept with a lovely selection of fabrics and Janome machines. Camilla has been lovely every time we've visited!

Their options seem unlimited! Every time I come here, I end up spending my time going up and down each aisle. It's also very quality art supplies. They offer different art classes as well which I believe they hold in one of the stores walking distance from them. They have a list of their upcoming classes and events posted on the board next to the entrance. All their workers are friendly and helpful to any questions you might have. For the quality of the supplies, it's a great price.
