First time customers deserve better: My husband and I visited for the first time recently. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and our server invited us to choose any table. She immediately brought over two bottles of water and asked if it was our first visit. We said yes. She went over the menu in some detail. She did not ask if we wanted a drink, nor did she mention that the bottled water she had already placed on our table would be added to the bill. We ordered the lamb tikka pizza and the bhindi masala. The food was decent, but not remarkable. Portions felt a bit light for the price. The pizza crust was more like a crunchy pita, and the toppings were sparse. The okra was decent. Overall, I'd give the food 3 stars. The reason for my 1-star review is the way the restaurant handles water. We were automatically given bottled water before we had even looked at the menu, and at no point were we told there would be a charge. When the bill arrived, we discovered we'd been charged $1.50 for each 12-ounce plastic bottle. We had three, for a total of $4.50. This isn't about the money. It's about transparency. In most restaurants, water is provided as a courtesy, so presenting bottled water immediately to first-time customers without mentioning a charge feels misleading. If bottled water is the only water option available, that should be clearly communicated upfront. To make matters worse, there's a prominent sign stating that outside beverages are not allowed, which presumably includes bringing your own water bottle. After paying our bill and leaving a 20% tip, we suggested that first-time customers be informed about the water charge when they're seated. The response was a shrug and, "It's in the menu." Maybe it is. But if you're going to place bottled water on the table before customers have even opened the menu, the courteous thing to do is mention that it isn't complimentary. Gobsmackingly synergetic fusion of two of the finest comfort foods. Since it was a Thursday night past 9pm, having a pizza place that opened late-ish that is also a sit-down is a rarity. Six of us decided to order and share two full pies: Tikka Masala with Chicken and the Korma with Shrimp. Waters came in a plastic bottle rather than tap, so something to consider. One of us in the group decided to order a spicy Saag Paneer and naan instead which came out slightly faster. The pizzas took almost 15 minutes, but were well worth the wait. Starting with the dough, its flat and lightly charred edges yielded a crispy, yet sufficiently rigid slice that held its toppings well. The Tikka Masala was bursting with a savory sweetness, while the Korma had creamy richness to it. To even out the portions, the logical solution was to order yet another pizza so each of us would have four slices. The last pie was the deliciously layered Saag, and its probably the one I would order again, and that's not to diminish the other two flavors at all. The bell peppers and purple onions (two things I don't like because of how typically mushy and overcooked they can be) were perfect! Sweet, salty, cheesy. And the crust, thin and crispy. There was so much chicken in the tikka masala. And the sauce!!! I enjoyed a mango lassi throughout my meal. It was so refreshing. The restaurant is in a little strip mall next to a laundry mat. It's casual with Bollywood music videos playing on two tvs. The young man who took our order brought out the chutneys and our food as it was ready. My 1 star rating is for Bombay Curry and Pizzeria's Lamb Vindaloo, which in my opinion was absolutely disgusting and the worst Lamb Vindaloo I've ever had in my life! Although I am not one to waste food it was so bad that I had no choice but to throw it away after seeing what it looked like and taking a small taste test. The lamb vindaloo gravy was thin and watery and it lacked the necessary spices fundamental to the dish. But what really turned me off was the bright red, fluorescent color of the gravy which I suspect is due to their heavy use of artificial food coloring. The color was very unnatural and I could not bring myself to eat it as I am sensitive to artificial food dyes. There was also very little meat only a few tidbits, and mostly all gravy.
