    Samosa chaat and pani puri
    Christina L.

Came Sunday afternoon ~4pm and was seated immediately. The interior is gorgeous and spacious. We ordered the samosa chaat and pani puri to start. The pani puri came in an interesting set up and was a little too salty for me, but the samosa chaat was delicious. For our mains we ordered the lamb biryani, patiala chicken curry, garlic naan, and a chicken tandoori dish. The biryani was a standout dish- it was incredible and had the perfect amount of spice, and the lamb was so tender too.

This place was amazing. We stopped in on a weekend night to grab a later dinner, and we were all so impressed with our food. The place is tiny, but we luckily didn't have a wait. Once we placed our order, it came out pretty quickly - which was great, because we were super hungry. We all really enjoyed our dishes, though I would say that mine could've used a bit more spice (and spice level wasn't offered). The naan was amazing - no feedback there! I definitely would recommend this place to anybody.

Small & quaint Indian restaurant. Stumbled upon this little gem and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the butter chicken, samosas, Lamb Sheesh kebab, lamb vindaloo, which was very spicy by the way! I loved it!! Ordered the biryani rice & garlic/butter naan. They came out piping hot - so fresh and so good. All the flavors were there - savory with all the spices packed with that heat. Yum! Definitely would come back! Mohammed our waiter was so nice and gave us some great recommendations.

Absolutely love Patiala Grill! We've been relying on them for takeout for a while now, and they never disappoint. Our go-to order is always the garlic naan with malai kofta - it's creamy sweet and savory spicy garlicky perfection! The chicken 65 is also a must-have, and the shahi Tukra dessert is the icing on this desi take out cake. Their chaat is also good although they don't do get a little soggy for take out. Personally, I'm also not a fan of their kebabs as much though my friends seem to enjoy them. The easy convenience of ordering through either Uber Eats and DoorDash is a bonus, and their delivery is always on time. The packaging is also top-notch - food arrives hot and well-protected. Sometimes they have a candy added to the bag as a little thank you - that I find very cute! :) If you're craving authentic desi flavors, around Times Square, look no further than Patiala Grill. We'll definitely be back for more!

*only 4/5 in context of their sister Patiala down the street being our favorite Indian restaurant ever (even after eating at Semma)* Accidentally ordered from this location for the first time and the food was heavenly-- a welcome reprieve from the mediocre Indian food we suffered through in Miami. I know the menu is the same but the spices just weren't as well incorporated like they are in dishes at the other location, and the cauliflower wasn't as crispy in either appetizer portion. Aside from that, we loved the paneer butter masala, garlic naan, and all of the side dishes/sauces. The Patiala Kheer (rice pudding) was very creamy, the rice was perfect. I added some cinnamon on top which upped the flavor to a new leeeevel.

Very welcoming and friendly when we first walked in. We were curious what drink the table behind ordered, our waiter told us what it was and explained the purpose of the dry ice. The dishes were a good portion to share if you ordered a few to get a tasting of som of your favorites or dishes you wouldn't normally make at home. Warm atmosphere with a beautiful chandelier in the middle of the restaurant and liked the elephant statues as you entered. Will be back to try some of the other cocktails and dishes.

    Butter Chicken w/ Naan.

Definitely come by here when the weather is terrible. I popped in for lunch this past Thursday, which boasted atrocious humidity and intermittent rain storms. As a result, there were a few tables available, which I imagine is not often the case. This place is SMALL. I've been to my fair share of NYC restaurants so I always know going in that the square acreage is going to be pretty limited but this really might have the tiniest dining space I've encountered to date. One of my colleagues recommended I try the butter chicken, and it was the right call. I have Indian food fairly regularly, but it's the "safe" stuff - it's almost always Chicken Tikka Masala and/or some type of paneer. This was my first time trying (or even hearing of) butter chicken, and I think I'm officially converting to this chicken going forward. It's very similar to Tikka Masala, but not as tomato-ey and seemed creamier and overall more flavorful. The chicken was very tender and the pieces weren't insanely big where I ended up eating like a barbarian or awkwardly trying to split it up into multiple bites within the sauce. Really hit the spot. When in Rome/Delhi, you have to get some Naan. I just went with the plain variation (they offered several variations including garlic, which sounded intriguing) and primarily dipped it in the tomato/butter gravy. Can never go wrong with Naan, and I think it particularly hits on a crummy, gloomy day like this one was. The service was pretty decent. I was on a time crunch but was able to order very quickly - I'd say the food came out within 10 minutes or so, which certainly isn't bad for a legit entree. It did lag a bit toward the end, when I'd wrapped up and was looking for the check. That's another issue with the condensed space; if one or two customers need assistance, it's tough to make eye contact with anyone. In this instance, my primary server was occupied with other customers, and the other server (who assisted me as well intermittently) wasn't busy but also wasn't actively attentive/looking to assist. Not a huge deal, and overall it was still a positive. The one other issue I encountered (and interestingly, I heard this come up literally three other times while I was in there) was Patiala's decision not to allow sit-down customers to utilize the lunch menu. I'm really not understanding that one at all - people were told repeatedly that the lunch specials were only for take-out/delivery customers. I honestly can't think of a basis for this other than an in-person cash grab, but it was a little frustrating to spend $30 on a dish that was a lunch-size portion - you shouldn't be financially punished for giving a restaurant some additional business. That's something I'd definitely reconsider on their end; feels like an unforced error that's primarily just going to alienate potential customers. Bottom line though, the food was really good. I'd be concerned about the seating situation on a day with actual sunlight so I'm probably using these guys specifically for to-go situations, especially given the aforementioned lunch special kerfuffle.

Decent neighborhood Indian spot. Flavors and portions were fine but nothing special, the kulcha was probably the best part of the meal.

Great Indian food and conveniently located right next to Penn Station! Make sure you make a reservation as there is limited seating (though there is a second floor to the restaurant which I didn't realize at first). Started off with Lasoon gobi which was incredible, highly recommend. The chaat dahi puri was just okay but still flavorful. For the mains we split dal makhani (delicious and a must get), chicken saag, paneer kali mirch and malai kofta. The only entree I would not get next time was the malai kofta as it was more on the sweeter side than expected. Also, none of the entrees come with rice or naan so you have to order it separately. Overall solid spot and would come back!

This is a very small, cozy restaurant located about 10 minutes walk from NYC Penn Station. There are around 6-8 tables so most of the orders are takeout. We were able to get a table easily on a weekday night and service was decent but not the most attentive (inspire of having 3 servers standing at the counter for 10 or so people dining in). The food was presented well although it was quite expensive for smaller portions. I liked the copper jugs and glasses for water, that added a nice Indian touch. We ordered butter chicken as it was suggested by few other reviewwrs as well as yelp and it did not disappoint. The paneer kebabs were well marinated and tasty. Garlic naan was fresh and soft. Overall, a decent Indian restaurant find during our visit to NYC.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.
